What If I Never Get Over You by Paige Toon is a romance full of depth and emotion.

In true Paige Toon style this book has all the feels: cheering on the main characters, falling in love, anger, and having your heart ripped out again and again.

I absolutely adore Paige Toon’s writing and her ability to make you feel for the characters she’s created. I absolutely will be recovering What if I Never Get Over You when it releases in April. I’ll be first in line for anything Paige Toon writes next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam/G.P Putnam’s Sons for an advanced copy of this book!

I am a huge fan of traditional romance, although there are certain “tropes” that I enjoy more than others. One that I am a fan of more recently is “second chance.” Because of this, I was extremely excited to read this book. Just based on the description, I had hopes that this would be a book that I would enjoy.

I am sometimes hesitant to read books from a new author, because it can sometimes take me a while to get used to their writing style. I didn’t have any problems with this book, and I liked that it was told in first person.

This book hooked me from the very beginning, and I wanted both of the characters to “win” although I didn’t see how that path could happen until almost at the end. I will say that I got so frustrated with the female lead because she definitely could have prevented the biggest misunderstanding from going as far as it did.

All in all, I really did enjoy this book. The ending was VERY satisfying. I cannot wait to see what this author writes next!

Paige Toon is an auto buy author for me, so I was thrilled to get an ARC of her newest book and it did not disappoint!! Someone I Used To Know will always be my #1, but this is a close 2nd favorite. I really liked the writing, pacing, & the spice level was perfect for me. The MC’s, Ellie and Ash, were both likable and I enjoyed their dynamic & character growth. The only thing that made this a 4.5 instead of 5 star was the miscommunication and the assumptions that Ellie made throughout the story. Other than that- I highly recommend this sweet and emotional romance!!

**Thank you to Putnam & Netgalley for providing this ARC**

Paige Toon has the great ability to write a contemporary romance with loads of angst and real life drama thats always a page turner. I have been following her for a long time now, and always look forward to new novels.

This one felt a little off for me. I didn’t feel an attachment to the characters as one hopes, and though I did want to see where the story went, I was frustrated along the way. With that said, I did enjoy the premise of two strangers meeting randomly and the what if? future that could unfold into a great love story.

Thank you to Netgalley and Putnam Books for the ARC of this novel; all opinions are my own.

This was the first book I've read from this author and I can see why she is popular. It was a cute story and had a good amount of drama, but likeable characters that you did ultimately want to end up together. I liked the premise of the book, but the fact that they ended up in the same situation again after their initial reconciliation and NEITHER one of them tried to reach out was just incredibly frustrating and unrealistic to me. Good premise and cute story though.

"What If I Never Get Over You" was a pleasant read.

Our two main characters, Ash and Ellie, meet on trip through Lisbon, Madrid and more. Both of them are dealing with unimaginable grief and found a kindred spirit in one another. Unfortunately, life tends to throw curveballs until they get back together again and must deal with the feelings that still fester.

There were some emotional and fun moments that made the read an enjoyable one. However, I felt the author really missed the boat on exploring more of the grief (ancillary but a driving force) as well as how their love for each other wrecked them each after such short times.

What was fun to me was the inclusion of different cultures, the Welsh language, and the aristocracy.

Thank you to Net Galley and Paige Toon for the ARC for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book and it reminded me a little of her last book with going back and forth between timelines. A great summer read and one I think a lot of readers will relate to

Paige Toon has become an auto buy author for me, and this book did not disappoint. What If I Never Get Over You was a heart wrenching, emotional rollercoaster of a love story. I also loved the added regency and Bridgerton vibes.

Such a sweet story about a boy and girl who are inter railing and then loose touch. Several years later, their paths cross again but will they stay together when he is royalty and she is actually his gardener?

I loved how this book kept me on edge and had such sweet moments between the two main characters.

Thank you NetGallery and Penguin Publishing for this ARC.

I just adore Paige Toon, and this book was no different. It’s full of love, loss and heartbreak, and I could not put it down.

I loved every part of how Ellie and Ash met and their 3 whimsical days together. And then I was crushed as they repeatedly tried to find their way back to each other.

Thank you NetGalley, Paige Toon and Penguin Group Putnam for allowing me this ACR read for my honest review.

This one was hard for me. I really felt the longing and heartbreak, but I was disappointed that the characters seemed to not have grown at all after 6 years. It was also predictable about 50% through. This book read like YA and I was hoping for more of an adult book with mature characters

There is something magically unique about the experiences and the people you meet traveling no, a bond that forms that connects you in an instant and lasts a lifetime. Three days in Lisbon was all it took for Ellie and Ash to fall for each other; but was it meant to last or just meant to be a fleeting spark? When their plans to meet up fall through, they must go on with their lives apart and time moves on with that idea of, “what if?” lurking in the shadows.

Sometimes you have your plans and then life has its own plans that throws a wrench into everything and we live with a plethora of “what if” scenarios. Paige Toon beautifully examines what happens when the one that got away, the quintessential “what if” scenario that has haunted your thoughts for six years, shows up back in your life and stares you in the face. What If I Never Get Over You is another emotionally gripping read by an instant favorite author; Paige Toon has an inexplicable way of writing her characters into the reader’s hearts creating an enchantingly cathartic novel that will sweep you away.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

Paige Toon is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors even though this is only the third of hers I've read. I really need to dig into her backlist. This was.a quick, one-sitting read. I loved all of the characters (well, except Ash's father of course) and the way their journeys brought them together time and time again. The ending was perfect. I love her writing style. Perfect beach read. Highly recommend.

Thank you to Penguin and NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this book! I couldn't wait to read it!
"What If I Never Get Over You" by Paige Toon is a poignant and relatable exploration of love, loss, and the messy journey of moving on. Toon skillfully captures the raw and often conflicting emotions of grief, from the initial shock and disbelief to the lingering ache and the struggle to imagine a future without the person you love. This story is a moving and thought-provoking novel that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. This is my first book of Toon's and definitely won't be my last. This one is definitely one I'll be recommending to people I know.
Thanks to Penguin and the author again for letting me read this incredible book!

This is my second book by Paige Toon. I liked it, but I didn’t love it like Seven Summers. Ash honestly annoyed me so much I wanted to shake him so many times. I felt bad for Ellie she deserved the world. In the beginning I was intrigued, but in the middle it started to get slow for me. I enjoyed it though. Thank you Paige and NetGalley.

The right person, wrong time kind of love story that definitely gave off some “Bridgerton” vibes.

The love story between Ellie and Ash and them falling in love while inter railing through Europe was a cute premise.I loved how this explored themes between the fmc and mmc where they had to decide if they were willing to do what’s expected of them from their parents or just follow their hearts. I adored the self discovery and the pursuing of dreams that these two helped each other in. Overall this book did feel rushed and during the middle it did make me feel furstrated; however the ending made up for it and I still loved the warm feeling this book gave off.

I might just have a new favorite romance book - five incredible stars 🤍

“One Day meets a contemporary Bridgerton in this high-drama, escapist wonder of a love story, Paige Toon’s best yet.”

Thank you to NetGalley, and Penguin Group Putnam for providing me with an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was beautifully written, the settings were painted perfectly, and the character development was one of the best I’ve ever read.

Favorite quotes:

“I have a surreal feeling that I could listen to his voice for the rest of my life and it still wouldn't be long enough.”

“It's been almost six years, but I'm not over him and I'm not sure I ever will be.”

“I used to wish with all my heart that Ash and I would find our way back to each other, that he might be my person, the person I would spend the rest of my life with. But I've spent a lot of time wondering if I built those three days into a bigger deal than they were. That connection felt so strong ... But I think it might be time to lower my expectations and start being a bit more realistic.” NO

"Are we looking back at that time through rose-tinted glasses? Was any of it real?"
He meets my eyes, and then says, with absolute conviction: "It was real."

And then my favorite- “I've given up trying to fight this. It will end in disaster-there's no way we're coming out of it unscathed-but maybe if we let this thing between us burn brightly enough, the flame will fizzle out.
Or maybe it will crash and burn in a fireball so brilliant that we'll never recover.
Either way, I'm in.”

Tropes:
- Insta love
- Second chance romance (a FAV)
- Missed connections
- Right person, wrong time
- Dare I say forbidden love
- Miscommunication (AHHHH)
- Class differences
- Unfinished business (this was a big one and is truly one of the parts that made the story so enjoyable!)

I loved this book, and I’ll be recommending it to everyone! I truly have zero complaints about it, and look forward to reading more by Paige Toon!
