All the Missing Pieces was an incredible, intriguing, and exciting story. From the amazing characters to the stellar build and the pulse-pounding ending, this was truly an all-consuming and addicting read. I loved the emotion, the drama and suspense, and the bits of humor that were interlaced. I never wanted to stop reading!
Ridley and Colt were fantastic. I loved learning their history and all the pain they’d endured. These two had great chemistry, there was a push and pull between them that they tried to ignore, resulting in some seriously snarky yet playful banter that created an awesome enemies-to-lovers vibe. The build to their feelings was phenomenal and I felt pulled in. I loved them really opening up and letting their walls come down, they had a delicious slow burn happening. It was incredibly well done.
I loved the characters involved, the townsfolk brought some lightheartedness into the mix but also a love and caring that felt special. I loved Colt’s best friend Trey and what was blossoming between him and Colt’s sister, these two definitely need a story. There were just so many great details that made this story feel full. There was also the fun addition of some sweet animals and I couldn't get enough of Ridley’s three-legged cat and his tooth hugs, which always made me chuckle.
I loved the true crime element and I was trying to piece things together as the story moved along. There was a fantastic build to the mystery and suspense. It felt like a low-level tension that was simmering until it boiled over into a heart-stopping ending. It was like I couldn’t breathe as it all played out.
From the heat and passion between Colt and Ridley to the suspense captivating me, this was a well-developed and detailed story that is a must-read!
Ridley has a true crime podcast that she travels around for in her RV with her three legged cat, Tater (and honestly if that’s not enough to sell you on this then idk what is!).🤭 She helps solve cold cases, and is ready to finally tackle one that hits close to home. Ridley ends up in the small town of Shady Cove, where she starts investigating the cold case of a failed abduction from 10 years ago. She believes this case is the beginning for a rampant serial killer.
Colt is the sheriff of Shady Cove, and he doesn’t like this podcaster stirring up the past just for numbers. His sister was the victim of the failed abduction, and he’s very overprotective of her. He does everything he can to try and shut her down, but Ridley won’t back down from him or this case.
The enemies to lovers was soooo strong in this one! And what’s better than enemies to lovers? Enemies to lovers with forced proximity. 🙌🏻
Yet another perfect Catherine Cowles book! The plot twist had me realizing that I’m actually not very good at predicting the villain.
Colt and Ridley reluctantly cross paths when Ridley comes in to town to bring attention to a cold case. Colt is protective and as the sheriff, makes it harder for Ridley to film her podcast. But he has his reasons. Ridley is living every single moment of her life, and will stop at nothing to continue to spotlight those who were gone too soon and don’t have justice. And she’s not letting a grumpy sheriff question that.
I loved watching them fall in love. It was both slow and fast, in a perfect balance of harmony. Their relationship strengthened at the same time Ridley becomes accepted by the town. The town served as a perfect backdrop and I simply can’t wait for who I hope is the next couple.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
New small town, new characters, new mystery, but mixed with everything I love in a Catherine Cowles book! Murder, lovable characters and addictive storytelling!
I could not get enough of Chaos and her Lawman!
Ridley and Colt had my attention the whole book! They are grumpy/sunshine to the max. Their banter was some of my favorite Catherine has written.
Both have suffered heartache and are guarded. But they quickly realize that learning to trust one another could heal their pasts and find justice for the ones they love.
So many twists and turns came with this book. And I was very surprised by the twist in this one, Catherine Cowles you keep me guessing every book and I LOVE it!
Thank you for the ARC!
WOW….Colt and Ridley, two opposites who took different paths after a tragedy, one who became broody and let the guilt weigh them down and the other, living their life to the fullest. Their first meet does not go well, neither does the next or the next as Colt keeps assuming the worst and sticking his foot in his mouth when it comes to Ridley. Ridley does her best to live the life her sister never got the chance to and has dedicated her time in finding who took her twin away from her. It leads her to a small town that has its own secrets and Colt as their Sheriff who is still haunted by a kidnapping many years ago and each year, he does his best to find new clues. Now that Ridley has shown up stirring up past memories and the guilt, he finds that she may have the clue he has been searching for years and just maybe she may be able to help him heal…that is if the killer doesn’t strike first.
A great read that had me flipping the pages, suspense, surprises, twists and turns, steam and great characters that made it hard to put this down. Emotional scenes that will need tissues as these two relive their fateful days from years ago and the banter between them that will have you chuckling out loud. The story flowed beautifully with descriptions that were spot on….LOVED IT!
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I had the amazing opportunity to have received an arc of this book through NetGalley and I am still think about it after finishing it a couple days ago.
Catherine did a phenomenal job writing about grief that I even learned a lesson or two on how to deal with it. I strongly recommend this book to anyone that is a romantic suspense fan. Miss Cowles always knocks this genre out of the park.
My girl Ridley, host of the amazing Sounds Ike Serial true crime podcast took her grief from the disappearance of the her twin Avery and made it her mission to help others that had their love ones missing and getting them justice. She is so admiral and I respect the hell out of her but is also causing chaos anywhere she goes especially with her tooth hugging three legged cat Tater! Ridley looked for the light at the end of the tunnel instead of letting darkness take over that I know that a bunch of would let consume us. I have a sister myself and this book gave a more appreciative perspective on my love for her. (Currently tearing up while typing this.)
Now to talk about our Law Man Colt, my love! I love me a grumpy man who is actually a softie and good man who is an amazing brother. This sherif of the lovely small town of Shady Cove had his cut out for him once his Chaos (Ridley) came walking in, but she was the missing piece he needed to move on with his life and get a whole new perspective. Once she broke his barriers there wasn’t nothing this man would do for his girl.
They were each others missing pieces and they were just meant to cross paths and go on this journey in this amazing Catherine Cowles book together.
When Ridley Sawyer rolls into Shady Cove in her vintage van and with her cat, Tater, it becomes evident that the missing pieces are slowly coming together. The missing pieces that will hopefully lead to finding the person who kidnapped and likely killed her twin sister, Avery. When a tall, dark and broody sheriff gets in her way, Ridley will do anything she can to turn this cold case into a solved case. Even if Colter Brooks turns her skin hot and makes butterflies in her stomach despite his cold welcome. When the cold case Ridley is working on turns hot, Colt has no option than to take Ridley in and protect her against the evil that apparently still lives in town.
This was a different type of story that Catherine wrote and I still loved it! As someone who likes to listen to true crime podcasts, this story was right up my alley! Plus I love enemies to lovers, which was a good part of Colt and Ridley’s story. I also gotta say I was not expecting the bad person at all. Catherine got me again. 😂
Some tropes for this book include: true crime podcaster, broody sheriff, fierce FMC, forced proximity, strangers to roommates to lovers, enemies to lovers and suspense. Some TWs: mentions of de*th, mu*der, kidn*pping, some explicit detail of the m*rder on page, de*th of a parent, & absent parent as well.
I am also looking forward to the next book in the series. While it hasn’t been announced, it says #1 in the Shady Cove series so I’m hopeful!
Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Catherine’s team for the arc in exchange for an honest review. You guys rock!
5⭐️ My true crime girlies rise up!!! Catherine absolutely killed it with this one. I am completely obsessed with both Ridley and Colt. The most captivating romance and suspense from start to finish. Consider this book the PERFECT gateway if you’re looking to try out the romantic suspense genre. And equally perfect for the seasoned romantic suspense reader like myself 🤭
All the Missing Pieces is a standalone romantic suspense that follows Ridley, a true crime podcaster, and Colt, the grumpy sheriff. Here’s what else to expect!
🔍romantic suspense
🩷small town
🎙️grumpy x sunshine
🧩forced proximity
🔍enemies to lovers
🩷true crime podcaster
🎙️sheriff hero
🧩hurt/comfort
Not only is this one of my favorite Catherine books to date, the characters are also some of my favs. Ridley shows so much strength, empathy, independence, and confidence. Her love and commitment to her sister and her sisters memory is both heartwarming and heart wrenching. I love me a grumpy mmc, so I adored Colt. He may act grumpy, but he is a secret teddy bear and has the biggest heart. Watching his walls come down and soften toward Ridley was everything. I have a weak spot for an “who did this to you?” moment!
Of course the suspense was edge of your seat perfection!! I’ve accepted I will never guess a Catherine Cowles villain correctly, and hey, there’s no shame in that lol. I wouldn’t have it any other way! I’ll just be suspicious of everyone until the reveal!
A few other things I loved!
-The emotional depth and character growth
-Shady Cove!!
-The found family and the entire town being obsessed with Ridley
-Tater and the tooth hugs
-The near arrest meet cute lol
-Colt’s protectiveness
-THE NICKNAMES 🥹 (chaos and law man forever(
Thank you so much to Catherine, her team, and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC of All the Missing Pieces 🩷
This book. Wow.
This book had me on my toes from the very first chapter. I tried not to look too much into the description before I started reading and I’m glad that I didn’t because it made the story that much more incredible.
Ridley’s story is one that I unfortunately related to in certain aspects with losing a sibling and handling the overwhelming grief. Her mission of helping others through her podcasts and bringing justice for victims was absolutely inspiring.
Colt also battled his own demons with feeling guilt after his sister’s attack. I also related to his battle with guilt and feeling like he was never doing enough to protect his sister.
Ridley and Colt’s story was inspiring in the way that they were bringing each other back to life while healing each other in the process. Ridley brought a new set of eyes on life to Colt, who was heavily guarded and defensive, while Colt reminded Ridley that she was still very much alive and valuable.
Overall I loved this story so much. The suspense mixed with humor from the townspeople and tooth hugs from Tater as well as the romance was a perfect combination! If you love romance mixed with mystery and true crime podcasts, this is the perfect read!
Thank you Catherine Cowles, SourceBooks Casablanca and NetGalley for my copy of All The Missing Pieces. 🤍 I received this book for review, all opinions are my own and given freely.
Catherine Cowles has become one of my favorite romantic suspense authors. I did have a good feeling about the whodunit and I was right this time. I still enjoyed the suspense and everything about the book.
Ridley and Colt get off on the wrong foot to begin w. It takes some groveling on Colts part to get on Ridley’s good side which we love to see. I really enjoyed their story, their banter, their chemistry, the mutual pining. The spice! Let’s not forget the spice.
The plot was soo good in this book and really held my attention. I didn’t want to put the book down for anything. I’ve come to learn that none of Catherine’s characters can be trusted and I was questioning all of them at one point.
All The Missing Pieces releases January 7! 🎉
I am so so sad that I didn’t enjoy this but here’s my honest review.
This book started off with so much potential. The suspense plotline hooked me immediately and I was completely captivated with it. It was actually shaping up to be one of my favorite suspense plotlines from Catherine Cowles! But unfortunately that was where my enjoyment stopped.
The romance did not work for me. The two main characters butted heads at first (that does not make them enemies) but very quickly they did a 180 and suddenly they were obsessed with each other and they were friends with benefits but oh no no the FMC said “more like enemies-with-benefits” but this was nottttttt enemies to lovers. It was like disagreement to insta just to insta love. They LOVED EACH OTHER AFTER LIKE TWO WEEKS!! It was difficult to read and I actually found myself skimming some romance sections bc I didn’t care, there was no buildup to their relationship. Most of the spice scenes also felt out of place to me. The first one specifically came up out of nowhere, there was no tension building up to it, it was just suddenly happening. And the spice scenes that followed just didn’t fit the characters or the plot.
And then there’s the suspense plotline which is the only thing that kept me reading. It was building up gradually and then all of a sudden BAM here’s the bad guy and their whole story. The intriguing part of this suspense plot line was Ridley being a podcaster who helped crack cold cases by piecing things together and picking up on little things said by interviewees. I thought this book would focus more on Ridley piecing together clues and hints and small details with the help of Colt. But no, it followed the same suspense plot line I feel I’ve read in each of Catherine’s books now :( There was so much potential for this one to see someone actually solve the mystery but the resolution was truly the same as the other books.
The romance and the suspense followed the formula laid out in previous Catherine Cowles books I’ve read. Girl and guy meet/reunite, there’s a bad guy on the loose, girl gets hurt, moves in with guy, they fall in love, girl gets kidnapped, guy saves her.
I am so sad I didn’t enjoy this book bc there was so much potential there. Thank you to the author and sourcebooks for the ARC, all opinions are my own.
"Think I loved you from the moment you told me the cat had fucking AC in that van.”
“Law man, you ok?”
"Who. Did. This. To. You?”
Wow how I loved this book! Right away you are invested on the mysteries that Ridley wants to discover. I loved how Colt, the sheriff in his small town, wants nothing to do with Ridley and yet keeps getting involved with her. Their bickering is some of the best parts in this romance! I loved how Grumpy at times Colt could be. He also is such a protector and I loved that you got to see that in him. I liked how their relationship slowly evolved and how it wasn’t a quick jump into bed. The spicy scenes were a perfect blend and steam and beautiful emotions! Both Ridley and Colt have struggled in life and I loved how that was one of the ways they bonded together. Both were able to help the other through their pains. I haven’t read too many romantic suspense books that involved this kind of darker mysteries. Ridley and Colt search throughout the book for a murder and there are some scenes that have dark aspects. I really liked how Catherine Cowles was able to do a perfect job of blending that into a beautiful romance!

I Frickin LOVED this book!
From the dedication page to the very end, Catherine Cowles grabbed me and didn't let me go.
If you've read a Cowles book before, you know she is great at romantic suspense and making it difficult to guess who the bad guy is. You learn to suspect everyone. But I have to add, she is a queen at immediately drawing you in and caring for the characters right from the prologue. The prologues kill me. And All the Missing Pieces was no different. You feel for what happened and already have a connection to the FMC, wanting her to come out on top.
Ridley is a true crime podcaster that travels round in her VW van working on cold cases of missing persons. But her job is a bit more personal than most. That is what endeared me to her character and her mission. Well that, and her 3-legged cat that gave "tooth hugs". ;) When she comes to the small town of Shady Cove, she has a feeling that this case will connect her to her own past and hopefully give her answers. But with a close knit community like Shady Cove, people are hesitant to open up to a stranger about something that rocked their little town 10 years prior.
Colt is the local sheriff and he may not like the leggy, long haired blonde that has come to town asking questions, but he also can't help but want to keep her safe. But the reason she's in town is way too close to home for his liking and he will keep his own people safe from her bringing up the past.
All the Missing Pieces is probably my favorite Cowles book to date. From the true crime podcast to the heavy mystery/suspense element, this was a book that I simply could not put down. Add in the tension and banter between Ridley and Colt and this story was absolute fire. Their chemistry was palpable and you could feel it through the pages, even when they fought it. Even their nicknames they had for each other (Chaos and Law Man) dripped with tension.
"I've seen you two together exactly once and that I-hate-you-so-bad-I-want-to-tear-your-clothes-off vibe was so strong I'm pretty sure the whole bar could see it."
But it was their past trauma that connects not only them but Ridley and the whole town. And it all comes full circle in such an organic way and shows you how you must battle the darkness with light and hope. Because 'there couldn't be true happiness without grief, no pleasure without pain.'.
I just loved that the story was such a good balance of suspense, amazing supporting characters and the romance which was more heavy in the second half, allowing the suspense to take center stage.
If you love:
Small town
Meddling town folks
Grumpy/sunshine
Snarky, strong and independent FMC
Protective, alpha, yet caring MMC
Forced Proximity
Suspense
With some pretty cool animals....
Then you are not going to want to miss Ms Cowles latest small town romantic suspense.
She will keep you guessing and give you a great story in between with the best cast of characters.
Easily one of my favorite Catherine Cowles books to date! Colt and Ridley did NOT get off to a good start, but it was so fun to see how their relationship progressed after that. 😂💕 As always, the suspense plot was incredible!!! This book is such a good one for all of the true crime fans, the story is engaging and emotional. Cannot recommend enough!! Lawman, Chaos & Tater forever <33
Ridley lost her twin sister in a tragic way on the night before their college graduation. Now she investigates cold cases as a true crime podcaster with a huge following. Arriving in Shady Cove for her next series of episodes, Ridley has a new case to explore and as she gets to know the town, it becomes clear that some of her suspicions are closer to the truth than anyone would believe.
From early in this book I was falling in love with these characters. As early as the introduction I was heartbroken for Ridy’s loss, Emerson for her own experiences, and Colt for being a bystander affected by the same events. There is a rich group of characters that make up Shady Cove. I loved the way the townspeople sheltered Emerson from strangers and weren’t willing to share much with Ridley until they knew Emerson would be ok with the intrusion. And I also loved the way they welcomed her in as she showed her true intentions.
I loved Ridley’s little quirks and the way she poured herself into her investigations while also remembering her sister. She is a free spirit, but also dampened by the loss of her sister. She wants to shed light on cold cases all the while she is keeping her own story a secret from her viewers. Colt came on strong with his protective instincts, first for his town and his sister, and later for Ridley as well. He has a strong moral compass and feels guilt for the pain his sister is living with.
I spent most of the book jumping from suspicion to suspicion, constantly sifting through the clues with Ridley and watching for valuable information and red herrings alike. At times the events had me feeling giddy, which felt like an odd emotion to note while reading something with as much suspense as this was building, but I loved every detail as it was revealed. There were moments where I didn’t always agree with how Ridley handled herself, but in the interest of building a story, I loved the way all the pieces came together.
This was a fast paced story that sucked me in and didn’t let me go. It had the perfect blend of suspense, emotion, and small town antics.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Catherine Cowles is the queen of romantic suspense, and this one might be my new favorite of hers to date.
The setting and overall vibes were exactly what I was looking for and the true crime podcast aspect was done so well and brought this book to the next level.
Ridley is also especially well done as a character. I really took to her from the beginning and she’s my favorite FMC I’ve read recently.
For whatever reason, law enforcement MMCs do it for me, especially in a Catherine Cowles novel, so it’s no surprise that I loved Colt, despite how rude he was to Ridley at the beginning.
I also just want to mention that there’s a three legged cat in this that I absolutely adored.
I have read *almost* every single book CC has written and they are all 4-5 star reads for me, and let me tell you- this is the best one yet. I am absolutely obsessed with True Crime Podcaster books (Listen for the Lie, None of this is True, etc) and I was so excited when I saw this was coming out.
Ridley's sister was abducted when they were in college and ever since, Ridley has been traveling around in her van recording a true crime podcast on local cold cases. Her newest town has a sheriff who is determined to block her every move.
Ridley, and the Sheriff, Colt, were absolutely electric together. Their chemistry was wonderful, his protectiveness was top notch, and overall they were just a match made in heaven. I am hoping and praying this is not a standalone novel, because it seems like it was possibly set up for a series??
This is a must read and is included in Kindle Unlimited!
All the Missing Pieces is book one in the Shady Cove series. It follows Ridley Sawyer and Colter Brooks.
As a lover of true crime podcasts, I ate this book up in one sitting! It was such a thrilling story with twists you would not see coming.
Ridley is a true crime podcaster who investigates missing persons cases hoping to bring peace to the families. She ends up in Shady Cove covering a case that could be connected to her sister’s disappearance. She encounters Sheriff Colter Brooks, who is less than welcoming to an outsider in town. After something happens, they soon become allies and so much more.
I love Ridley with all of my heart. She is such a strong character, and her motivation to help others find closure while not yet finding her own is really inspiring. She also marches to the beat of her own drum and does not allow anyone to tell her how to live her life. Colt, on the other hand, I wanted to hate him because he kept hurting my girl Ridley with his words, but I just couldn’t. This man is a little prickly but a protector.
This book is incredibly emotional but also has its funny moments, especially with a cat named Tater with her ‘tooth hugs’. I honestly loved how their story unfolded and how they were both able to finally heal all the missing pieces.
Also, I did NOT see the twist coming near the end, and my jaw literally dropped!
You will enjoy this book if you like the following:
- Small town
- Sheriff hero
- True crime podcaster heroine
- Forced proximity
- Grumpy x sunshine
- Enemies to lovers
- Romantic suspense
Thank you so much, Catherine Cowles and Sourcebooks, for the gifted copy!
Catherine Cowles hit this book out of the park, but I would expect nothing less from her! Her writing style blends romance and suspense so perfectly where I never feel like I need more or less of either one. I especially loved how I felt like we were trying to solve the case along with them in this book maybe more than her others. We are following Ridley, a true crime podcaster, trying to solve this cold case that she believes is connected to her own sister’s disappearance.
Colt is the town sheriff and is so protective of those he loves. First, his sister Emerson (the victim in this cold case) who managed to make it home. He doesn’t like that Ridley is reopening these wounds for Emerson. Once Ridley gets threatened though, we see him be protective of her as well. These two balanced each other well and worked great as a team. I loved every minute of both the romance and solving this crime.
I’m going to admit that I was a little nervous of Ridley being a true crime podcaster, especially as we are starting to see people in real life speak out about the misuse and exploitation of these crimes for views, but I should have trusted Catherine Cowles to handle it beautifully because she did. So if you’re worried about that, don’t be, this is a good happy medium that is represented well.
Ridley is a strong role-model, she is willing to go after what she wants, and she does it knowing the risk. She knows her limits and doesn’t enter a situation blind after what happened to her sister and with her desire to help other families find what happened to someone, she makes sure she stays safe. I truly believe Ridley and Colt are twin flames, after being changed from a similar situation, they have reacted so similarly and yet so different, like two sides of the same coin and it really helps them connect once Colt gets over his biases and prejudice against true-crime podcasters.
Colt and Ridley have such good chemistry from their introduction but it really ramps up once they become roommates. They might have been able to fight their feelings, but the close proximity really forced them to deal with the desire and chemistry head on.
The suspense plot line of this book was so well thought out, I love how it all connected, but I, like always, could not predict who the main killer was. However, once I found out I could see how all the clues led up to them and why it all makes compete perfect sense.
So in conclusion, Catherine Cowles just writes really good, entertaining, romantic suspense books!
