I'm a big fan of K. L. Slater and have loved every book she has written. I found this one a bit harder to love but intriguing nevertheless. There were lots of characters, several timelines and numerous plots going on so I did have to pause now and then to check who was who and where they fitted into the story. Also, I didn't particularly like any of them so I didn't have a favourite person to root for. Despite all of this the book is well written with a clever plot and lots of twists. Often confusing but still a good read. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in return for my honest review.

What does Daniel want with maddox? And is this all linked to whatever happened to Rich 11 years ago?
This book was one of them that once you started you couldn't put it down, it flits back and forth between the characters to hey their side of the story so you see it from all angles, and the twists when it all comes together make you go omg! K L Slater has done it yet again & wrote a blinder of a thriller that I urge all thriller lovers to read!

The author is great but this book fell flat for me . There were a lot of characters with a lot going on . It wasn’t for me , but could be for you if you enjoy complex mysteries. .Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review

This has everything you would want from a psychological thriller--characters who are not always what they seem, secrets and lies, unexpected revelations, breathtaking twists, and the whole lot moving at a terrific lick. It is gripping from start to finish.

I loved the beginning of this book, the ending I was not in love with but overall a good book. This author is usually a hit with me so I'll continue to look forward to more books from KL Slater. :)

The Married Man a psychological thriller by K L Slater with a heart wrenching twist was amazing.

Liv's husband Rich takes their three year old son Maddox out to fly his kite one windy day and only her son came back home.

Eleven years later Liv discovers that Rich has a new wife this was not part of the plan they had made together. Liv had sacrificed a lot in order to keep herself and Maddock out of danger but Rich made a mistake and now Liv and Maddox will have to face the repercussion.

This is an edge of the seat roller coaster thriller that has many twists throughout.

The Married Man by K.L. Slater is a wonderfully written and crafted story full of twists and turns then you do not want to pass up on.
As always I was hooked from the beginning.
This book is great at keeping you engaged without the whole book. It’s a rollercoaster of a ride that you will never guess. Fantastically written with fantastic character development.
This gripping psychological thriller held my attention from beginning to end, with intricate plot, relatable characters and plenty of twists and turns to the satisfying ending.

K.L. Slater is a favourite author of mine and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. It needs to go on your TBR list. It’s a banger of a read with so many twists and turns within a really well developed storyline. The story is told from several characters points of view which gives you a real insight into each of the characters. I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. It’s a fast paced read that doesn’t let up and just keeps throwing the surprises at you. It did feel a little like the ending was somewhat flat compared to the rest of the read but maybe that was the intention. Really enjoyed this one and would highly recommend.

The Married Man- K.L Slater

Thank you to Netgelly and Bookouture for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC and provide an honest review.

We follow Liv, Rich, and Maddox, a once-happy family. Rich made a terrible mistake, therefore Liv and Rich planned Ricky's disappearance. It's been eleven years, and Liv has been waiting for the day when it's all done. Eleven years later, Maddox is struggling in school, and Liv is doing her best to keep in check. However, Liv learns that her husband has a new wife. That's when things take a dramatic turn.

To be honest, this book did not live up to my expectations of an excellent suspense book. The storyline and the plot were intriguing and easy to read, but there was little tension and suspense throughout the entire book. The plot twists were unexpected, which I enjoyed, but there was little empathy for any of the people in the novel, so I felt disconnected from them. This is not for you if you love complex thrillers with tension that sends chills down your spine!

The Married Man was another decent thriller by K L Slater. I haven’t read a book by this author I’ve not liked so it was a relief to find this was my next read.
Liv lives with her teenage son, Maddox, they have lived together for eleven years, just the two of them. Rich her husband disappeared one windy day whilst flying a kite with his then three year old son. No body was found but he was declared dead seven years later. The police visit Liv to speak to Maddox as they’ve had information that he’s been hanging around with a well known drug runner recruiter. Maddox insists he doesn’t have anything to do with drugs but Liv finds a new iPhone and wonders where the money came from. Maddox draws into himself and tells Liv she has lied to him his whole life about his father. Why is he saying this now and how does he know about the lies?
This was a really twisty thriller that I couldn’t wait to read every day. The characters were all different and all were vital to the storyline. The storyline was different and I enjoyed it from beginning to end and the pace never let off once.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

I applied for an ARC of this book on NetGalley due to reading, and thoroughly enjoying, another book by this author, and this book certainly lived up to the high expectations that I had.

The book started in an extremely gripping way and I straight away found myself desperate to read on. Liv, Rich and Maddox are a family of three who seem picture perfect, however soon into the book beginning Rich goes missing, leaving Liv and Maddox behind. The book then jumps forward to the present day which is 11 years after Rich’s disappearance and it follows the current lives of Liv and Maddox.

The book switches from past to present day throughout which provides a good level of background to the story and characters, and also gives the reader an insight into the reality of the lives they lead. The chapters are also told from a different character’s perspective which I personally think makes for a great read and really helps the reader to connect with them. From about 40% in everything started unraveling and there were so many jaw dropping twists and turns revealed which helped to connect certain situations that happened throughout the book.

Overall I felt this was an excellent read and I would certainly recommend. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

This was a very good read and a slow burn which quickly got going and became a complete page turner.
This twisty psychological thriller had me guessing and second guessing what was happening and the last third of the book there is so much information to take in I had to stop myself from rushing ahead to find out what had happened and enjoy the reading.
Great plot and some twists that were completely unexpected. Highly recommend this book.

This is quite a twisty tale! I will say that the beginning of this story is slow, as you are introduced to so many characters. However, the tension and excitement certainly builds until all the secrets are revealed. I sure enjoyed this one!

An interesting premise here - two wives, one child, two husbands, or is it just one? Liv’s husband disappeared many years ago, leaving three year old Maddox to be found hiding in a cave. His father was assumed to be dead. Then we have Kait - pregnant with her first child and becoming increasingly suspicious of her husband Daniel, who is clearly not in the places he says he is. The skill in this book is joining up all the threads, which is most.y done successfully, but there are some moments of confusion. Overall, this is an engrossing read, with effective pacing a mostly plausible story and a chilling ending.

Rich, Liv’s husband, had been missing for years after failing to return home after a trip out with their son. She believes her luck will change soon.

Kait lives with her husband, Daniel and thought things were good until she finds a note that has fallen out of his pocket. She knows something isn’t right. Will she find out what’s going on?

This is my second book by this author and having enjoyed the last one I knew I needed to read this. I’m glad that I did pick it up as it ended up being a complex and very twisty read. It took some time to get going but once it did it became very intriguing and I was desperate to work out what was going on. There were lots of points of views which jumped around quite a lot and some narratives I was less interested in. Even though I didn’t fully connect to the story, I did enjoy the majority of this thriller and I really enjoyed all the little twists. 3.5 stars rounded down. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read The Married Man by K.L. Slater in exchange for an honest review.

K.L. Slater’s latest thriller is an intricate story of deception, secrets, and betrayal that will keep readers guessing. Eleven years ago, Liv’s husband, Rich, disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving her to raise their son, Maddox, alone. Rich convinced Liv to help stage his disappearance, promising a payout after a certain time. Now, as the deadline approaches and Liv waits for the promised money, a shocking revelation unfolds: Rich has started a new life with a different family, shattering Liv’s world once again.

Meanwhile, we meet Kait, a soon-to-be mother married to Daniel. Though Kait feels she’s in a happy relationship, she starts noticing her husband’s increasingly odd behavior. Her suspicions are confirmed when she uncovers evidence tying Daniel to Maddox’s past—leading her to question everything about the man she thought she knew.

The Married Man is an expertly crafted thriller filled with tension and well-plotted twists. Slater’s characters are deeply flawed yet relatable, making the story all the more compelling. The alternating perspectives between Liv and Kait add depth and complexity, as each woman’s journey reveals hidden motives and painful truths. The pacing is steady, building suspense until the surprising, intense climax.

This is another standout from K.L. Slater, perfect for fans of psychological suspense who enjoy stories about buried secrets and morally ambiguous characters. Highly recommended for readers who appreciate thrillers with unexpected twists and emotionally charged drama.

Well to start off what can I say, an absolutely fantastic read. Lots of twists! The plot is brilliant nothing like I've ever read before, kept me guessing, how did Rich, Maddox's dad go missing? I thought he died?! I love how the characters are portrayed, they are described well. I could really feel for the characters through the pages and especially for Maddox the teenage boy he must've felt so confused and hurt by the whole thing. The book made you think about the other characters are they lying? Are they telling the truth. I saw straight through Kait and wasn't sure on her from the beginning she was introduced. At the end I really felt for Liv, she got dragged into it all. The book was a little bit too much of a slow burner for me at the beginning and it did take a while for me to get into but there were many points of view to get through and once that was done the plot thickened and sped up!

Really glad I read this book and would definitely pick up another K.L Slater book again! Thanks very much to Netgalley for approving me to read this book.
