Boy and girl meet. Boy and girl fall in love. Boy and girl get married. A classic timeline with a killer twist.

Hazel and Fox live a quiet suburban life with their baby. It is safe and predictable albeit boring, especially after leaving the exciting world of being serial killers.

Hazel longs for the excitement her life used to have, while Fox seems content with his new, boring "dad" life. One day, Hazel takes it too far and accidentally kills someone unleashing excitement once again. Turns out, Fox has secrets of his own and suddenly their "perfect" suburbia life starts to unravel. Hazel brings so much humor and sass to the story as well.

Thank you NetGalley and Bantam for gifting me this ARC. It was a fun read and I can't wait to see everyone get excited about it when it releases.

Who knew you could enjoy a book about two serial killers so much?

I greatly enjoyed the book. Wasn't quite sure what to expect, but immediately got immersed in their world. Had a few suspicions of where things would end up, but am happy to say I didn't see all the twists and turns coming.

Loved how it showed how good marriages need good communication - and having internal conversations with yourself about your relationship don't count, and are sometimes completely off base!

I'm already suggesting this book to other friends!

This was a fun, quick read that I literally could not put down. Great characters, well paced plot and a huge sense of humor made this one of my favorite books this year. Told from two perspectives over a couple of timelines, there was enough ongoing suspense to keep me turning the pages late into the night. Highly recommended

Frankly I read most of this book - it frightened me some but there are readers who might enjoy the humor within. I won´t give my usual discussion of the A Serial Killer´s Guide to Marriage plot line. Itś an English novel that delves with family, friends and marriage. It was not what I expected from reading the descriptions. Read them, If it sounds good to you - read it. A Serial Killerś Guide to Marriage will be published on January 14, 2025 by Bantam of Random House. I was able to read the Arc via NetGalley. Should you select to read this one - enjoy!

The premise of two serial killers finding each other, becoming partners in crime and then having a baby is an intriguing premise, but I could just not get invested into this story. I found that the main characters were a bit dry. I really wanted to love this story but unfortunately I did not.

Once I saw the title I knew I had to have this book. It is a romance, with mystery and the best kind of cops and robbers. What happens when you kill someone and someone saw you? Well you marry them and have their baby of course. Haze and Fox couldn't have grown up more differently but they shared one thing that outweighed everything else. They both believed that bad men should be rid of this world. Who better to do it then them?
Once they have their daughter all of that changes, they believe that they should stop their killing ways and instead be the best mother and father they could be. Sometimes not all best laid plans work out, just as when the police show up at their door will they be able to keep their family together?
I demolished this book and I wish I could have a sequel to discover more about this crazy but lovable family.

Wow Wow Wow. This book was amazing! I loved the dark dynamics of the serial killers couple turned suburban next door couple. I couldn't get enough of all the internal loathing of the subdued housewife feels that was released from Hazel, I mean I felt seen. And I loved the cunning prospectiveness from Fox, all his brainiac problem solving voodoo schemes were spectacular,
Well, And it was very morbidly-hilariously entertaining too. I really loved this book, and I will recommend it to everyone!

LOVED it! Loved the characters, easy to follow...multiple layers. Not what I expected at all. Would highly recommend!

I loved this book! The characters were genuine and I think anyone who has been in a long-term relationship can relate to the character’s questioning their relationships resiliency as life keeps moving forward. Haze’s words of wisdom at the beginning of each part of the book had me cracking up. Would definitely recommend this book.

Wasn’t really sure what to expect from this book. But it was pretty okay. It wasn’t my favorite but it was at least interesting!

I was able to get through the story. I get a little annoyed when politics are injected in books somehow and I feel like this had moments of that which threw me from the story. It always feels misplaced no matter what

What a fun read! Hazel and Fox "met cute" when Fox helped Hazel cover up a murder she had just committed. It turns out, they both have an affinity for killing "bad" men. It turns out, they make a great team--leading a jet set lifestyle with a few murders thrown in. That all changes when Hazel gets pregnant, and Fox decides parenthood and murder aren't compatible. Hazel has a hard time adjusting, and when she's attacked while out for a jog, she does what comes naturally. She has to not only hide what she's done from the cops (one of whom has become her new best friend) but from her husband.

The story is mostly told from Hazel's point of view, but we hear from Fox as well. Both are struggling, but aren't sharing these struggles with the other. That makes for some amusing situations, but also pulls them further apart.

The book is both funny and heartwarming, and the twist that the two main characters are serial killers is a clever twist on the issues facing a lot of new parents. I would love to see a sequel!

Are Hazel and Fox ready for suburbia? Better question…is suburbia ready for them?‍

Let me introduce you to a couple that were literally made for each-other. True soul mates. They share a passion that nearly no one else could imagine (at least I hope not!) It’s called murder! Yup, you heard right! 🔪

This seemingly typical, average couple enjoy a most unusual hobby. Killing “bad men.” But they do have standards. Innocents are always spared.

But when baby BIbi comes along it’s time to hang up the knives and settle down into a normal life. Not as easy as it sounds.

This serial-killer read is definitely on the lighter side with the focus primarily on the topic of the art of killing than on the kills themselves.

I do prefer my thrillers on the darker side but every once in a while I need something mild as a palate cleanser. This fit the bill.

Will this book be the beginning of a series? Or is it a one and done? Stay tuned…

A wry look at marriage & its hardships through the lens of a serial killer couple. I thought this was an excellent book and can't wait to read more by the author. An inside look into the mind of serial killers 'on a break' because of parenthood but it's really a deep dive into marriages as a whole. The same issues regular couples have that can derail a marriage but seen through serial killers' eyes. No gore but murders are discussed.

4.25
A funny and fast-paced thriller that is reminiscent of Dexter, Butcher and Blackbird without the sex, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Haze and Fox are serial killers who have retired since having a baby. The book focuses on their attempts to navigate everyday life as retired serial killers. Hazel in particular is having a difficult time being retiree. She misses the thrill of the kill. The story is told in dual POV.

I really enjoyed this one. Even though they are serial killers I found both characters lovable. I found Hazel relatable. She advice that preceded each new section was hilarious. I enjoyed the dark humor. The dialogue is smart and funny. Overall I really enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend this book.

Dexter meets the Smiths
Fox and Hazel have a code: only the bad men die. Their victims are vetted and researched. Their crime scenes are immaculate. They are rich and beautiful jet-setters who are always in control. Until they have a child. A baby means big changes to their lifestyle. As much as Hazel loves Bibi, she misses the hunt and the kill. Her life gets so routine and boring that she doubts her husband’s affection. Then she makes an unlikely friend in a police detective on maternity leave.
This book is what I wanted from Amazon’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith. This was a fun and thrilling read. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that even though the narration switched between Fox and Hazel, Fox’s actions were not made clear until the end. I felt like a bit of the mystery around him was never settled.

2 stars ⭐️✨.

Overall, this book was decent as a past time. I saw potential in the plot of the story. I think that the main character Hazel's inner monologue was mostly complaining about everything which made this book go by very slowly. In fact, a lot of scenes between characters felt redundant. One thing I did like about this book was the way that Hazel described her daughter. It was heartwarming to see that even though she struggled a lot with motherhood, she still really loved her daughter. Fox was an okay character. I just didn't think his point of view added much, since he was complaining a lot too. I wasn't that happy with the ending either because the first part dragged on so long that I expected more from the conclusion. I didn't hate the book, but I expected more from it. I think the entire conflict could've been solved if the characters had a conversation.

This book would be good for those who enjoyed Butcher & Blackbird.

I thought this book was a blast. Would I have liked more murder? Of course I would. But I found myself truly interested in the lives of Fox and Haze. Especially, Haze. Every marriage faces its challenges. And time, children and life can often dim the passion that ignited the relationship. This is a topic that has been covered by a lot of books in the "chick lit" section of bookstores. But to make the thing that extinguished the spark a lack of being able to kill was a fun way to explore this aspect of marriage. This wasn't the typical genre of book I like to read, but I really did have a good time hanging out in this world with these characters.

I was so excited to read this book, based on the premise--two serial killer's who get married and then have to hang up their knives when they get pregnant and have a daughter; but the wife is not as ready for retirement. Unfortunately, this book got very bogged down in the minutae of married life rather than the excitement of reading a story from a serial killing couple's point of view. By the time I got to the halfway mark, the story felt like it was only just starting to pick up. 50% of trudging is too long for me to hang with a book.

I'm a sucker for serial killer protagonists and this Mr. & Mrs Smith style husband and wife dual POV story about two reformed serial killers who are trying to quit for the sake of the daughter was TOP NOTCH!!

Wealthy American, Fox and loner British woman, Hazel meet and come together in their youth over a shared love of killing bad men but when they become parents Fox begs Hazel to focus on their family and not do anything that might risk their happy domestic life.

Told from alternating perspectives, we get insights into the challenges of being the breadwinner and the stay at home mom and how hard it can be to make female friends in mid-life. Put off by all the typical 'perfect' moms, Haze unknowingly befriends a policewoman on mat leave and when she falls off the wagon in her killing hiatus, things really heat up as she tries to hide what she's done both from her husband and her new friend.

This was action-packed, funny, relatable and great on audio narrated by Georgia Tennant and Kyle Soller - I couldn't get enough and I will eagerly read anything Asia Mackay writes next! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and @prhaudio for a complimentary ALC. Highly recommended for fans of authors like Katy Brent and C.J. Skuse.

This was definitely a unique and different storyline. I was pulled into the story in the beginning, but it didn’t pick up momentum enough to keep me invested. I think there was too much focus on random details of their separate lives and not enough focus on their marriage.

I needed more action from this one and then it went off the rails at the end.
