I have loved Meren and Reven since they first met in The Liar's Crown. I knew the last book was going to put me, the reader, through the ringer but I didn't expect Meren to go through one as well.

There's a ton of angst, a lot of fighting and anger, and then the rug gets pulled out. The author finishes this series with a bang, I just didn't expect to find myself an emotional mess when I got to the end.

I'm going to miss Meren and Reven, but I'll be placing this series on my re-read list

The Shadows Rule All. Yeah they do. They've been at the center from the beginning. And now we see them in full force.

The story picks up after the events in The Stolen Throne although some small period of time has passed. Our characters are ready to fight.

At first I was thrown off. It took a while to get into the flow of things as the characters' plans took shape.

As usual, I'm amazed by the imagination of Abigail Owen. The scenarios, magic, the beauty and harshness of their world, and creatures she comes up with are a sight to behold and a joy to read about.

The Shadows Rule All is darker and bloodier than the first two books. There are so many situations where I feared for my favorites. I was on the edge of my seat wondering how they would come out the other side. Because the characters are in constant peril and on the move I feel like I missed out on some time with them. Tabra plays a bigger role and I didn't always like her. Nor did I agree with everything Meren did.

There is plenty of angst with Reven and Meren's situation, but I expected to feel it more than I did. I'm not entirely happy with their story this time around.

I can't say how I feel about the ending without spoilers but the journey there is action packed, especially in the second half. Eidolon was a bit of a letdown for me and I feel like I'm missing closure on some things. I'm sad it's done. The Shadows Rule All is a fitting end to a wonderful story.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing for the chance to read.

Very epic conclusion in The Dominions series. To best enjoy the story, it's better to read all 3 books in order. This book was a page turner for many reasons - secrets unveiled, epic battle scenes....very robust story and wrapped up the series very well. If you've read the series, you'll be very pleased with the way it is concluded.

Fantastic conclusion to this epic trilogy

I loved the conclusion to this trilogy. This book was definitely a stay up too late, cannot put it down, it should get more than 5 stars kind of book. I fell head first into the story and was equally desperate to read it all at once and also to savor it and make it last. The amount of creativity, imagination, and world building this author weaves into the story is unbelievable. The story is a perfect balance of exhilarating adventure, nail biting danger, palpable tension, unexpected twists, deep emotions and soul touching romance. Expect a twist windy roller coaster of a story from the first page to the last because instead of a slow ratcheting up of the danger and suspense, this final part of the story starts with intensity and just never lets up. The book picked up right where the last book left off. Meren and her small army of powerful allies are trying to collect the final goddess amulet, figuring out how to release Reven who is still trapped inside of Eidolon, continuing to try to thwart the plans of evil Eidolon, all while the shadows are still trapped inside of Meren and Tyndra continues to creep into the other dominions. There is a lot going on but the multilayered plot lines easily flow together. The world building was superb, drawing from the other books and weaving in new threads as the story progresses and dominions are visited and a few new characters are introduced. The story includes all the goodness that you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, end of the world scenarios, paranormal creatures, evil entities, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, mystery, secrets, betrayal, revelations, and laughs. I especially love that Meren’s character, despite her unique overwhelming powers, how the rest of the world views her and the overwhelming task she has taken on, is still kind, self-deprecating, modest, reluctant, and at times resentful which makes her a very likeable and relatable hero. While this is a YA fantasy, is also a deeply emotional book. At its heart, it’s a story of damaged and bruised but not broken people who continue to find their way by owning their choices, recognizing their scars, finding their strength, embracing life, and deciding to answer the call to do what is right, even when it is hard. Since this is the last book in a trilogy, to get the full depth and breadth of the story, you need to read all the books. But do not worry reading every page is worth it.

What an explosive ending to such an addicting series. Like book two, our characters are being put through the worst of the worst. Fortunately, it was all wrapped up nicely. I will miss this world. It has been about a year since I read book two. I always fear when waiting for a next book in a series that I will forget important details, luckily that wasn’t the case with this book. The beginning of the book gives little reminders of important world building aspects and previous events, while building on the next story arc. I so appreciated that the author did this. It made it easier to sink right back into the story. One thing I love about this series is how detailed the world is. Though there is so much to the world the author built, this story never drags. Every book is incredibly fast paced and addictive. I was able to finish over 500 pages in two days. I refused to put it down. This series, especially this final book, has such a good balance of fantasy and romance. As someone who hasn’t had much luck with the romantasy genre, I can confidently say that this is one of the only books/series that has worked for me. Yes, the romance is important and plays a big role in the story, but there is so much more at stake with politics and magic. Most of the time this book had me STRESSED for the characters, but thank god I was able to breathe by the end. I can’t wait to read more from Abigail Owen!
