Scone Cold Dead is perfect for Murder She Wrote/cozy mystery fans (the investigator is pregnant and owns a pancake house, and the victim was found on her aunt's sheep farm).
In fact this mystery is so cozy it put me to sleep a couple of times, in a good way.
This quick read takes place in the fall in a small town, so it's a great read for this season.
Thank you Kensington Books and Netgalley for the digital review copy.

This was another winner in the Country Store Mystery series, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed how good everything was. The characters felt like they were the same and worked in this world. I thought the mystery was wonderfully written and was glad I got to read this. Maddie Day has a strong writing style and was glad I got to continue reading this.

Another visit to the Country Store Mysteries. This time we find a man who visited Pans and Pancakes only yo be found in Robbie's aunt's field the next day, stone cold dead. Robbie is days away from giving birth to her and Abe's first child together. With other changes happening to the personnel at the store and preparing for the impending birth, Robbie is stuck trying to balance her desire for answers, protecting her aunt and most importantly, protecting her unborn baby. I really liked this mystery and love the rich characters. Thank you to Kensington Books and Netgalley for the advanced copy.

An entertaining fun culinary cozy mystery. This is the 13th book in The Country Store Mystery series and does not disappoint. The recipes are fun as well.

The title got my attention. I found it witty and engaging. This volume had all the ingredients of a nice cozy mystery. A small town cafe owner turned amateur sleuth, quirky characters, delicious food, and a murder to solve. Robbie Jordan finds herself serving up justice along with her signature scones.
There is also a different aspect from other books: the female main character, is about to give birth.
Unfortunately, I found the action a little bit too slow. Even if the pieces fit together little by little, there were no big twists to keep me on my toes.
Thank you Netgalley for this arc.

Not an unbiased review as I love this series and have family in Indiana.
This is a very busy story that entwines a lot of friends and families with the body of parolee found in the sheep paddock. Providing urgency is the main character coming to the end of the pregnancy under less-than-optimal conditions. I enjoyed this quick afternoon's read.

Scone Cold Dead by Maddie Day is a great culinary cozy mystery that is the 13th book in the Country Store Mystery series.
This is a cute series that I have followed from the very beginning. I feel like Robbie and her family are almost part of my own at this point.
Try as she might, she just cannot shake the amateur sleuthing despite trying to tow the line in the last few weeks of her pregnancy. However, when potential connections between a murder victim and one of her own come into light…a girl has to do what a girl has to do.
A nice addition to the series.
4/5 stars
Thank you NG and Kensington Publishing | Kensington Cozies for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.
I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 4/1/25.

This was a wonderful continuation of this series. How and if the series will continue, we will have to wait and see; and I can't wait for the next installment.

#SconeColdDead #NetGalley is a whirlwind adventure you won't want to miss.
Robbie is just weeks away from giving birth, and getting caught up in another murder investigation is not part of her plan.
I loved this book and I was so anxious for Robbie during the entire book. Every time she felt a twinge, I was telling her to rest and relax.
This book really makes my heart fill with joy, not only for a brand new baby character, but because Robbie was wicked in this book. She was so strong and fearless at times, I was so proud of her.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.
