This wonderful book is another addition in the Terra Babies On the Go series. These
books are actually, 100% recyclable. That is if it's ever needed. This series has become a household treasure for our family. They are so fun and creative. These are on the go adventures perfect for little hands. In this adventure we get to learn all about the many wonders we can find in nature. We love the easy-to-follow text and the colorful, eye-catching illustrations really help tell us all about the adventure we can find on a hike. My family was so excited to find some of our favorite things about hiking like discovering the animals of nature and the beautiful waterfalls. We love the addition of how to make our own trail mix. Get ready for some hiking fun and enjoy this adventure with your family.

My First Book of Hiking by Stephanie Puglisi was even more enjoyable than the camping book in the series. The illustrations were amazing and showed how hiking and the outdoors is for every single person. I liked all the places, but I feel there could have been more places mentioned/variety of places mentioned. This book could have been a little longer. Very age appropriate and fun. I received an eARC from Sourcebooks Kids through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.

This overall was a cute little book about hiking. There were a few aspects of it that I thought needed improvement.
1. This book is marked as 0-4 years old. I feel like the writing is geared towards kids a little bit older maybe like 4-6 years old.
2. That being said, I felt like the illustrations are on par for what I would expect for a 0-4 year old book, which made it feel like the writing was too advanced for the illustrations.
I did think that the trail mix recipe at the end was really cute!

The illustrations appeared to be geared toward a toddler but written to an older child. It had uninteresting details and wasn’t entertaining to read. The whistle would also be a choking hazard to a small child.
I received a complimentary e-copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Such a cute way to build awareness to hiking! This would be great for littles, especially if there's interactive materials for them to touch or smell, and it describes the perfect scenarios and includes safety reminders which are also important! We love the little trail mix recipe included at the end as well.

Loved My First Book of Hiking by Stephanie Puglisi; Jeremy Puglisi. Book says ages 0-4 but I think it skews a little bit towards 4 or even 5 years old. It includes adorable illustrations and is designed with a handle to be carried by kids on the go. Sometimes books for children do not give them enough credit, and I can honestly say this was not the case with this book. They gave kids actual examples of things to do on a hike and things they might learn like:
-List of items to take on a hike (bottle of water, snacks)
-Names of hiking trails (Hurricane Ridge at Olympic National Park)
-How to use tools (compass, trailhead map)
-Animals you might encounter (marmot, mountain goat)
-New hiking words like "scramble" or climbing with your hands and feet
-How to make trail mix using GORP (good old raisins and peanuts)
I would definitely recommend this book for littles and say give it to them young so they can grow with it. Plus they can take it with them any time they hike!

Just like the first book of hiking this book is too long. Not only does it talk about different types of camping and where you go. It also gives sentences about real campsites. Too much in this type of book at one time.

this was a cute book for little beginner hikers. my son enjoyed reading alongside me and continuously said he couldn’t wait to go hiking again. it’s simple and gives so many hiking scenarios to get kids hyped to get outside and explore forests, waterfalls, different wildlife, and a fun scavenger hunt to make your own trail mix during hikes. the images include various families exploring outside, too. it looks like it’s a little book perfect for little hands, definitely one i’m going to buy for my kids

This is a cute way to introduce young children to the joys of hiking! It covers the things you’ll need and the things you’ll see. I enjoyed the bright colors and engaging illustrations. If you enjoy hiking and have little kids, then I recommend grabbing a copy of this book.

My First Book of Hiking is a very simple picture book for younger kids. It explains some hiking prep, as well as thinks you might encounter or do on a hike. I liked that it included how keeping nature clean on a hike is important. This would be a great book for younger kiddos.
Thanks to Sourcebooks Kids for an eARC of this book for an honest review.
