Victoria Lavine’s Any Trope But You is a delightful five-star read that feels like a Hallmark movie with a spicy twist. Margot and Forrest’s chemistry is electric, delivering laugh-out-loud moments, swoon-worthy romance, and just the right amount of secondhand embarrassment to keep you hooked. The story strikes a perfect balance between being lighthearted and exploring deeper themes such as death, insecurities, and personal sacrifice. It’s a fun, emotional rollercoaster that will leave you with a big smile and a full heart.

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartfelt rom-com set in Alaska. Both main characters are caretakers for family members and both have messy lives. You can guess how it ends, but the journey to get there is fun and entertaining.

Thank you to ArtiaBooks for sending me an ARC!!
I really enjoyed the first 25ish% of this book. I liked the premise, and the idea of having an off-the-grid experience in alaska to reinvent herself (like come on that’s the perfect opportunity for character development). I unfortunately felt that the actual execution of this plot didn’t pan out as well as i hoped.
I loved Forest and Margot’s budding relationship but it felt that after they started to like each other, it immediately jumped to lust and a physical relationship. Considering she was only there for 6-weeks total, I felt that their relationship would’ve benefited from possibly not having smut scenes and focusing on furthering an emotional connection (especially because so much of their relationship was based on their similarity of caring for their family!) I also think the idea of having Forest fulfill so many of these tropes and being so “fictional character like” made the relationship rushed because he was doing so many things to seem so perfect.
Another thing that I disliked, which I won’t go into too much to avoid spoilers, is that I felt like the ending twist with Savannah was so rushed and underdeveloped. We rushed over what I thought was such a big moment of the book that offered a space to have a lot of emotional connections and character arc but it was rushed. That being said though, I really did love Savannah and Margot’s relationship. The letters were arguably one of my favorite parts of this book.
My last critique is that as a reader, I just didn’t enjoy the constant back and forth of Forest’s decisions. It felt extremely frustrating to experience him giving half thought out reasons for justifying staying/leaving Alaska, and then also not even fully thinking through alternative options to help with those choices.
Overall I just found myself wishing the pacing was more consistent and that the relationship felt more genuine. I didn’t love this one but I would still recommend if you’re looking for a winter romance with sister relationships and strong family themes.
[Bonus thought I had: The plot of this book is also extremely similar to “Book Lovers” by Emily Henry but if it took place in Alaska. ]

10* stars. This book was so good. It had everything I love in a romance story. It was simply beautiful. And I look forward to reading more from this author.

The inside is just as delightful as the cover! Any Trope But You is a perfect blend of humor, heart, and swoon-worthy romance. The characters are so relatable and lovable, and the chemistry between them is off the charts. I was hooked from the very first page! Whether you're a fan of rom-coms or just looking for a feel-good read, this book has it all. I can’t wait to recommend it to everyone I know—it’s the kind of story that leaves you with a big smile and a happy heart.

I had so much fun with this book. It had everything you could want in a rom com and the title was just so fitting. I loved the journey of our two main characters and the struggle of allowing yourself the space to love and be loved was so relatable. I will be recommending this book to everyone I know that loves romance.

Thank you Atria and NetGalley for the ARC.for my honest review. This was a cute debut and had a fun setting in Alaska. I would have liked a little more fun with the romance tropes.

This book was so sweat omg I loved it. This is the authors debut and it was well written and everything flowed so well. This is an ode to the book and romance lovers and i liked the plot so much. The fmc is a successful romance who has stopped believing in love. Her feelings about romance is leaked and everything goes wrong for her and her writing career. Her sister books her a trip to Alaska so that she can get away from everything and write a mystery for the first time. She meets the mmc who runs the resort after running into his arms because of a moose.
The mmc was such a good character he is a Dr. who is a cancer researcher though he basically gave all that up to be his dad’s caretaker after his mom passed away from breast cancer. They instantly dont like each other cause the fmc doesn’t trust people or relationships and the mmc doesn’t want to lose anyone else in his life. They both find reasons to hate each other but they get closer to each other and eventually get together. I loved the Alaska, snowy no internet/wifi vibes cause the main characters really got to know each other. Both characters were lovely especially with how much they love their family.
The romance was so sweet and spicy i was here for it, i thought the third act breakup made alot of sense and i loved how the book ended. I recommend this book so much! Thank you Atria for this arc for an honest review.

- Cabin life
- Romance writer
- Enemies to lovers
4.5/5 ⭐️

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this arc.
The little one liners from the characters really put the fun in this romantic story. Despite there being a lot of happy moments, the relationship between the mcs and their family were kinda sad but heartwarming too! Having to take care of one of your family members and not letting it stop you from living your life is hard. I enjoyed the meet cute, little excursions and coming to terms with love and trusting that everything and everyone turns out alright without having to constantly be around. Sadly this dragged a bit for me but if you‘re looking for a romantic, enemies to lovers story with heartfelt and funny moments this is it! Also this being a debut is amazing!! I‘m looking forward to her next book!

This book dances through witty banter, emotional depth, and unexpected tropes, blending romance with self-discovery. It’s a charming exploration of second chances and finding love in the most unlikely places.

I wish I could read this book for the first time again. It’s absolutely amazing. I’m a sucker for a romance novel set in Alaska — there’s just something about it and this book quickly became my favorite one. I loved the dual POV so we could really get to know both main characters. They both had great character development and depth to them. The side characters were amazing as well — they were developed characters who you felt you knew too. I’m so thankful to have gotten this ARC. I’m in awe that this is Victoria Lavine’s first romcom and can’t wait to read what she puts out next!

I loved everything about this book. Victoria Lavine creates two characters that you want to root for! Anyone who enjoys romance novels will love all of the nods to common tropes and smile their way through every page. I will be recommending this to everyone I know, and I am so grateful to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced review copy. 5/5!!

Excuse me as I am still swooning from this novel. This book is going to take off once it is officially released. From page one I was hooked, it was everything I wanted in a romance novel. Any Trope but You is exactly all the tropes! The enemies to lovers, the perfect lumberjack, the conflict of we can't be together, the super smart, rich educated man, has it all! I loved the characters in this book, the adventures our main female goes on to get out of her comfort zone. The raw honesty of trauma, health issues, family and barriers to finding true love makes this novel so relatable yet has so many fun, giggly moments too. I found myself laughing, crying and screaming at our characters at some points (in a good way) and any book that takes a hold of my emotions and doesn't let go is a major win in my book.
This book is officially my favorite romance of the year, I said it and I stand by it! It was such an absolute joy, and will be purchasing a live copy as soon as it comes out as this is my comfort book! If you are thinking about reading this book, please do your self a favor and read it! Make sure you have a free day available because you WILL NOT PUT IT DOWN ONCE YOU START! IT WAS THAT GOOD! You have bee warned!
Thank you Netgalley for providing me an Advance Reader Copy of this book!

I’m gonna be so for real if I found out that any of my favorite romance authors had secret alternate endings where everything went terribly wrong for their characters I would be DELIGHTED. That is objectively hilarious and you cannot convince me otherwise.
That being said it was also an excellent way for Margot to get cancelled without changing OUR opinion of her so I loved it. Because Margot is an absolute treasure, and so is her sister.
Even in spite of her anxiety and horror at the situation, Margot was determined to use the time away to write. She wasn’t going to go on the excursions, but she was going to stay. And I think that says a lot about who she is - scared but also resilient.
Forrest is the quintessential romance hero, who has single-handedly taken every single romance trope possible and decorated himself with them. You can’t even fault him for his faults, because they’re so human and understandable, just like Margot’s.
Watching the two of them stumble apprehensively around each other while also juggling their complex relationships with themselves and their loved ones was so earnest and funny and also heartbreaking. Their biggest faults are their inabilities to live for themselves - and they both know that they can’t fix that in each other.
I didn’t expect this to be as gut wrenching as it was, and that is a compliment. I said “stop” out loud at one point, to myself? Or maybe to them? Idk I was crying.
Anyway you know the drill. Add it to the TBR. Don’t look at me until my eyes have dried.

This plot was clever but I really struggled with the believability of the story and therefore struggled to connect with the characters. Thanks for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Who doesn't love a romance book about a romance author? This had me giggling and kicking my feet the whole time

I really enjoyed this book! Margot is such a loveable, heartbroken character that sacrifices so much of herself for sister. We see a reflection of this in Forrest as well, except slightly different circumstances.
Having a California girl sent to Alaska?! BRUTAL but the cold was worth the reward. Every step of the way, Margot acknowledges the classic romance tropes and refuses to give in….until they do.🤭 I love their chemistry and how they bond over their mutual sacrifices for the people they love.
This was such a fun, cozy read that I recommend checking out! I’m excited for what the future holds for author Victoria Lavine! Tropes to look forward to:
❄️Forced Proximity
❄️Dislike to Lovers
❄️Only One Tent

Knocked it out of the park for a debut novel!! This was such a fun concept for a book, and I loved the Dual POVs!! Truly felt like the most quintessential rom-com with emotion and spice and an HEA!

If I didn’t know, this was a debut novel going in I would have immediately started looking for a blacklist once I was done!
Any Trope But You is a debut that will leave you laughing and craving more from the author once finished.
When and interview and Q&A session goes terribly wrong our FMC Margot, who is a best selling Romance Author try’s to salvage her career but reinventing herself. With help from her sister she’s travels to Alaska to write her first Murder mystery debut… will this author who doesn’t believe in happily ever afters succeed or will our handsome MMC, Forrest, who is the epitome of all the tropes combine get in her way.
I thought this was very well written . It flowed very well. I didn’t feel that there was any pacing issues. I really enjoyed how as a romance writer. If there was a trope that came up, she felt the need to point it out. I also felt that the growth of both the characters was very well developed. I very much look forward to see what else this author does in the future.

I kind of loved this book! It’s a debut by the author, Victoria Lavine but she’s very clever to make it about tropes, a romance author who’s lost faith in romance, a fish out of water in a wilderness camp, meeting the trope of all trope men, who she’s written about in her books. Will they won’t they? They don’t start off on a good foot. So many romance tropes, but it’s on purpose and it works! Looking forward to more from her!
