This book is one of the most heartwarming tales I have ever read which not only talks about the love in romantic sense but also familial one and how that shapes are lives and decisions.
Any Trope but You is a beautiful banter filled and sizzling romance story between Margot who is recently cancelled due to the revelation that this romance author doesnt believe in happily ever afters and Forrest who is a Doctor/ Researcher but is living in Alaska to run the inn/resort of his dad and to help him after his injury.
They have one of the most amazing meet cutes and how that develops into more is a treat to read.
I sobbed while reading the letters and this book was perfect for me in every sense.

This was so adorable. I mean a grumpy, doctor, lumberjack MMC who is literally named Forrest?!?! Sign me up! Victoria’s split POVs were also so fantastically done.
As someone who has extreme loyalty to those close to me, I related to both of these characters’ love and devotion to their families. Victoria writes with such care as these two MCs figure out happiness for not only themselves, but their loved ones also.
Super relatable story telling, with a whole lotta spice. Such a cozy, fun read!!!
Many thanks to NetGalley & Atria Books for this ARC!! Happy reading, friends!!

This book was good but could’ve been better. It felt a little rushed at the end, however, I did love the characters. Margot who doesn’t believe in Happily Ever After but then meets Forrest who is the perfect book boyfriend.

4.5 stars rounded up because Victoria truly deserves an Emmy for her performance. This book was FLAWLESS and so so so honest about what it takes to care for someone and put their needs above your own.
Victoria's writing was honest, kind and so real it felt like a warm hug with a tough conversation. I cannot wait to read more of her work! Thank you to Victoria & her publishing team for the ARC.

This book hit the tropes nail right on the head!! I liked Margot's redemption, although I feel like Savannah was a little hard on her and unappreciative. The banter was great, but I felt as though there was a little something missing from their relationship.

A phenomenal debut, fresh, lovely, smart writing. Still thinking about this book days after I finished it.

Can Having your worst nightmare come to fruition be a good thing ? Or is it always the end of the world ? Any troupe but you journeys through different stages of a nightmare. First stage , when it’s still just a nightmare. Stage two , the worst case scenario happens. Step three , living with the fallout . Step four finding a new route and gaining perspective. And finally step five , acceptance .

This book is amazing! One of my all time favorite romance books I've ever read (and I've read a lot lol!) I went thru all the emotions while readings this, I was giggling and kicking my feet, getting teary eyed over an emotional moment, and getting frustrated and yelling at the book "What!?!?!?!" It was just such a great blend of everything you want in a romance book and it was a beautiful love letter to the romance genre! Forest and Margot are HEA goals and I adored them!! Thank you so much to NetGalley and to the publisher for my digital ARC!!! ❤️

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for a review,
I picked up and put down this book so many times before I made it through chapter one. I just wasn't sure what I was signing up for, but I'm so glad I kept going cause this book is delightful. I really enjoyed Margot and Forrest and I loved the setting in Alaska. This book was full of so much heart and adventure and really difficult topics. I think they were handled so well and with so much grace for the characters and other people who've gone through similar things. Forrest is definitely the superior book boyfriend all will be compared to for a while, and Margot is so snarky and so much fun that I can't decide if I want to be her or be her bestie.
Beloved romance author Margot Bradley has a dark secret: she doesn’t believe in Happily Ever Afters. Not for herself, not for her readers, and not even for her characters, for whom she secretly writes alternate endings that swap weddings and babies for divorce papers and the occasional slashed tire. When her Happily Never After document is hacked and released to the public, she finds herself canceled by her readers and dropped by her publisher.
Desperate to find a way to continue supporting her chronically ill sister, Savannah, Margot decides to trade meet-cutes for murder. The fictional kind. Probably. But when Savannah books Margot a six-week stay in a remote Alaskan resort to pen her first murder mystery, Margot finds herself running from a moose and leaping into the arms of the handsome proprietor, making her fear she’s just landed in a romance novel instead.
The last thing Dr. Forrest Wakefield ever expected was to leave his dream job as a cancer researcher to become a glorified bellhop. What he’s really doing at his family’s resort is caring for his stubborn, ailing father, and his puzzle-loving mind is slowly freezing over—until Margot shows up. But Forrest doesn’t have any room in his life for another person he could lose, especially one with a checkout date.
As long snowy nights and one unlikely trope after another draw Margot and Forrest together, they’ll each have to learn to overcome their fears and set their aside assumptions before Margot leaves—or risk becoming a Happily Never After story themselves.

I loved this book!! It reminds me of all my favorite holiday movies! It was so different reading about a character that was self aware of all the tropes going on throughout the book. I expected it to be trope heavy and boy did it deliver. The stakes were low and the vibes were high. Margot and Forrest are perfect for each other. I loved the parallels they had in their life experiences, it made them have an amazing understanding of the decisions that had to be made. THAT TENT SCENE!! I will be recommending this to anyone who listens.

"Any Trope But You" kicks off with an electrifying start! It’s a dazzling portrayal of love at first sight, expertly crafted to keep you on the edge of your seat. With a backdrop of complicated pasts and heavy family expectations, the characters struggle to contain their undeniable chemistry, ultimately transforming from foes into lovers. This debut novel is a thrilling journey toward their Happily Ever After, not just for themselves, but for their families too. You won't want to miss it!
Thank you, Atria and NetGalley for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy, and all my thoughts and opinions are completely my own!

3.5 rounded up. They say don't judge a book by its cover, but you also sometimes can't judge a book by its title. I was a little unsure going into this book because the title seemed extra cheesy, and sometimes it can be a real gamble to read a debut author. Instead, I found a book that has fun with the tropes and pokes at them without being cruel to the genre. Forrest is a MMC that is filled with stereotypes yet also feels grounded. I liked that Margot and Forrest could connect as caregivers and it added an extra layer to their chemistry. This book would make a great cozy winter read.

Victoria Lavine knocked this one out of the park!
Romance author, Margot Bradley, has been let down by too many men in her life- she continues to write her Happy Ever After ending novels that she doesn't believe in anymore, for her adoring and loving fans, but keeps her own Happily NEVER after endings for herself, in what she thinks is a safe place. When these files, never meant to be seen by eyes other than her own, get leaked out into the world, her career takes a nosedive. Margot has to do something different and soon she finds herself in a middle of nowhere Alaskan resort, attempting to write her first murder mystery. The last thing she expects to happen is to find herself a part of every romance trope she can imagine writing about, when she meets Dr. Forest Wakefield. Will this grumpy, stubborn man help Margot find her own HEA?
RomCom debut perfection! I absolutely loved this sweet and fun read! I was hooked from page one and fell in love with each of the characters and what they brought to the story. The banter between the characters will have you smiling until you can't smile anymore! Lavine also gives more than just romance and spice; their (Margot & Forest) story also reminds readers the lengths that we will go to when it comes to caring for and protecting our loved ones. Personally, I think this book will be LOVED and I highly recommend to romance readers and readers who just need something that will give them a happy feeling! I look forward to reading more of Lavine's work in the future!
Thank you, Atria Books, and NetGalley for this ARC in return for my honest opinion.

I absolutely adored Any Trope But You! The sweetness of the story and the chemistry between the main characters was such a delight. This book feels like a love letter to romance readers, the bookstagram community, and anyone craving an extra dose of hope. Margot's relationship with her sister had me in tears more than once, and Forrest's bond with his dad was just as moving (and so hot lol). I can't believe this is a debut novel—it’s so beautifully written... Victoria Lavine is one to watch for sure...I'm beyond thrilled I got the chance to read an early copy! The only minor drawback for me was that some of the dialogue felt a little cheesy at times, but it didn’t take away from how enjoyable the book was overall.

I didn't think I would like this book and by the end I was ready to move to Alaska to meet my mountain man!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!

This was a seriously fun read. Victoria Lavine packs this novel full of just about every romance trope you can imagine (intentionally, of course), but in such a way that it doesn't feel overdone. Forrest is everything author Margot imagined for her male heartthrobs and then some... When the two find themselves in forced proximity, with him coming to her rescue (multiple times), with only one bed (er, sleeping bag), opposites attract in this forbidden (in their own minds) vacation romance... Yeah, like I said, every romance trope you can imagine.
I loved how witty and relatable the narration was. It often felt like Lavine was a good friend, just telling a story to "the girls" ("boob prison"? 🤣).
Note: While the storyline touches on some heavy subjects, such as chronic illness, it's more a part of the characters' motivating factors than up front and centre.

This was an exactly what I needed between series. This books plot was great and the detail was there. Enemies to lovers with all the tropes packed into one. You’d think that it would be hard to pull off but it was so well tied into the plot that it worked.

Margot is a romance author who doesn't believe in HEAs. Although she writes them on paper for her readers, she's got a secret document where she writes down how she thinks her books should end, including divorce, affairs, and even slashed tires. When this document gets leaked to her fanbase, Margot gets cancelled by her beloved readers. Margot's life comes crumbling down, her book deals start to back out leaving her scrambling to find ways to support her chronically ill sister.
In a last-ditch attempt to fix things, she trades in her HEAs for murder and mayhem. Margot abruptly finds herself on her way to Alaska thanks to her sister where she meets Forrest - a doctor who leaves his profession to take care of his father after a medical emergency. He checks off every potential trope possible in Margot's eyes. I kept laughing each time a new part of his life was unravelled, and how he was shaping himself out to be the "perfect" man.
Although both were flawed, I loved both of these characters. The author does a wonderful job of bringing humour into a book that deals with such dark topics. It shows you that there can be happy moments even when life is messy. This was a perfect slow burn, just when you think that she and Forrest will get their HEA something happens that changes their outlook on their relationship. This book had me in tears as I saw so much of myself in Margot.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Atria Books, and Victoria Lavine for a copy of Any Trope but You in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own - this book publishes on April 1st, 2025.

Great romance story! Follows Margot, a romance author who was recently cancelled due to a hacker finding her alternate endings file containing happy never afters for her characters. Margot escapes to a remote lodge in Alaska and meets Forrest, a researcher caring for his ailing father. After a meet cute involving a moose, Margot and Forrest find themselves in a variety of romance tropes. However, this book ventures deeper with both characters. Both are dealing with being caregivers for loved ones and struggling with finding themselves. This is open door but not overly descriptive in those scenes. A good one to read!
Thank you Atria Books for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Loved this book so much! Margot and Forrest were such great characters and l want to go to North Star Lodge. I loved the character evolution for both main characters.
