I thought this book was absolutely adorable. Any Trope But You follows the journey of Margot, a famous romance author who is suddenly thrust into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. When it is revealed that she doesn’t believe in happily-ever-afters, she escapes her very public downfall to a remote resort in Alaska. There, she meets Forrest, and soon finds herself living out the many tropes she once wrote about. The book is filled with witty banter, heartwarming moments, and plenty of laughs. Plus, there’s an adorable moose named Periwinkle who gives us the perfect meet cute.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.

This was a cute book. I wasn't entirely sure where it was going to go, I thought maybe Margot would find herself in one of her books, but that's mostly because of other books I've read lately where people are going into the worlds of books or TV shows. Once I realized she was not in one of her books, I was able to get into it more. I think it's a good romance, and Forrest was fun to read about. I liked that there wasn't a huge miscommunication like there sometimes is in romance. Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for this ARC!

This debut novel is one you won’t want to miss come April. With its unique and fun premise, I genuinely couldn’t put it down!
Meet Margot, a jaded romance writer who’s lost faith in happily-ever-afters. After a broken engagement, a career blunder, an absent father, and years spent caring for her chronically ill sister, she’s in desperate need of a reset. Her sister sends her to the Alaskan wilderness, hoping a fresh start will help Margot rediscover herself.
In the wild, Margot meets rugged mountain man Forrest and finds herself living out every romance trope she’s ever written about: enemies to lovers, forced proximity, a sweet meet-cute, only one tent, and tender moments where he takes care of her.
This book is packed with heart, humor, and adventure—resulting in a truly delightful and unforgettable read!

I loved this romcom! Romance author Margot Bradley finds herself, at the behest of her best-friend and sister Savannah, reinventing, or aka discovering herself for the first time, on a wild Alaskan trip. This happens because she is horrifingly embarrassed and basically black-balled by everyone in the publishing industry, including her loyal readers. The thing is, Margot doesn't know anything but taking care of her ill sister; life has pulled the rug out from under her multiple times and she has stopped living for herself. Her sister for one doesn't want that for her anymore.
Forrest, the quarterback built, handsome lumberjack she meets on her arrival in Alaska is in a similar boat. He has left his promising medical career to take care of his invalid father and their family business, North Star Lodge. But is it what his father wants for him as well? Forrest yearns for his old life in L.A., but he will not lose time with another parent by living for himself or getting involved in distractions.
These are two people who will do anything, and I mean anything, for their family. They totally get one another. And that is why they are a perfect pair; and don't forget the chemistry! Their first meeting is so adorable it had me chuckling. Margot cannot believe the trope after trope she goes through with him, but I will not list them all, because. spoilers. You need to read this for yourself. If you love a good romcom, this one is for you!
In addition, the letters that Savannah sends to the lodge for a reward each time Margot completes a wilderness excursion are priceless and provide great insight into how Margot became the Margot she is today. If I am right, you will find yourself rooting for this couple's HEA and want to hold both of them in your heart for a long time to come! I happily await another story by this author. :)
**Thank you to Atria Books and the author through netgalley for reaching out with a DRC in exchange for my honest review**
Be safe, but not too safe.

ANY TROPE BUT YOU is a steamy romcom with an adorable meet cute that is set in Alaska. It was a cute read full of fun tropes like enemies to lovers and one tent 😉 One thing that bothered me is the overuse of the term “sweetheart” and I felt like the MMC was almost too perfect. All in all it was a cute read that would be good for winter cuddled up on the couch with a spiked hot chocolate ❄️
Thank you Atria Books and Netgalley for the arc ☺️

This book was the perfect romantic read. I fell in with with Forrest just as hard and fast as Margot did. As an author who also sometimes questions if love is real I could also relate to Margot's plight. I couldn't put this book down.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.
Great concept that didn't work mainly due to the awful FMC, Margot. I couldn't stand her and had no idea why the MMC, Forrest, was so infatuated with her. My favorite characters were Forrest's dad, Trapper, and the dog. The story didn't keep my interest (again, mainly due to Margot) and took me forever to finish. Why in the world did Forrest allow Margot to join in the wilderness adventures when she had zero ability to keep up with the group? Their first trek was rock climbing - really?? And he ended up carrying her for HOURS to get back to the lodge? I was already rolling my eyes. Should have DNF'd at that point. Too many ridiculous scenarios for me.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. This story was such a fun read. I was captivated the entire story. It was witty and entertaining. I loved how this story told the story of a romance author who gets cancelled when a document is leaked that shows she herself doesn’t believe in the HEA’s she creates in her stories. The Alaskan setting of this book was SO good! I want to visit!!! Forrest and Margot, I am so happy you both got the HEA you both deserved! I can’t wait to read more books by this author in the future!

4 stars! ⭐️ Romance girlies, this is for you! I loved it. FYI - it does get spicy!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Atria Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Any Trope But You was a really fun book for people who love romance books. The acknowledgments of all the rom-com tropes were a theme that was well carried out. It didn’t feel too trope-y or on the nose — instead, this book was full of banter, spice, and loveable characters!

I was thrilled to receive this arc after reading the description because this sounded like a book I would binge and I was not wrong. I’m a sucker for books about books/authors and this was no different. The story of Margot and Forrest was so fun to read and everything about this book just flowed.

I completely adored this book. The tropes had tropes and I loved it! The story was so fun, the banter had me giggling like a small child, and it was the perfect happily ever after. This is definitely one of my favorite romances of the year so far. The only thing it was missing was gray sweatpants (IYKYK). 😉
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

Although both were flawed, I loved both of these characters. The author does a wonderful job of bringing humour into a book that deals with such dark topics. It shows you that there can be happy moments even when life is messy. This was a perfect slow burn, just when you think that she and Forrest will get their HEA something happens that changes their outlook on their relationship. This book had me in tears as I saw so much of myself in Margot.

Oh my gosh this book was the cutest feel good romance, I loved it! I can’t wait to read more by this author!

Oh, every trope in the genre appears in this really adorable fun romance. Romance author Margot Bradley no longer believes in Happily Ever Afters so even though she writes bestselling romance novels, she keeps a secret "Happily Never After" file. When that file gets exposed by a hacker, her sister (who has some kind of autoimmune disease and is Margot's excuse for not participating in regular life) signs her up for a retreat in Alaska. Enter Forrest, handsome, smart, so many tropes.......Forrest cares for his father, who was paralyzed in an accident while leading a hiking trip. Both characters struggle with trust issues and letting go of their "obligations" enough to form healthy attachments. Of course its predictable, that's the genre, but it's so well written and fun, with a lot of tongue in cheek references to those moments that scream "THIS IS A TROPE". Loved it!

Really enjoyed this rom-com set mostly in Alaska. Will really resonate with romance readers who recognize all the tropes. Well written, easy to read and a perfect palate cleanser after reading a few heavy reads just before this. Great characters and leaves you smiling.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

First and foremost, thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this ARC.
What an amazing, funny, and great romance read!

4.5 stars
I requested this arc because of 1 out of context quote: "You've had my heart in your teeth from day one, Margot."
I fucking love a man who can admit he is gone for her.
I am so happy I let one little sentence influence me into reading this story!!
I am a bit obsessed with Margot & Forrest. Two people who have been burned by romance in the past, and have pretty much done their best to steer clear of any sort of commitment for fear of being hurt or betrayed again. They are also both caregivers for a loved one, and that aspect created such understanding between them.
Margot is a romance author who no longer believes in love, and after her professional life blows up, her sister books her a 6 week "vacation" at an Alaskan lodge so she can get away and hopefully write a book in a new genre, murder mystery.
Forrest is currently running the lodge, and Margot immediately tries to put up walls because she absolutely cannot afford to fall for a gorgeous lumberjack. So they butt heads at first, but the tension is DELICIOUS.
Forrest is dreamy and I'm obsessed with how he sees Margot.. whenever we were in his point of view, he was always so entranced by her laugh and her dimples.
Case in point: 'Tearing my eyes away from the dimples on either side of her smile feels like trying to peel off industrial-strength velcro.'
I ate up every single word, every single glance between these two! The banter, the emotional depth, the sexual tension.. all of it was immaculate. They had some lovely tender moments, beautiful honest conversations too.
THE TENT SCENE. THE SAUNA. *pants* *fans self*
I am ready to pack my bags, fly to remote Alaska and spend six weeks without wi-fi while a sexy lumberjack brings me on weekly adventures... where does one book such a thing? trip advisor?

All aboard the trope train!! You’re def not going to want to miss this one! I finished this in one day and had tunnel vision in all aspects of life besides reading because I literally couldn’t put this down. The concept was overwhelmingly cute!! A pessimistic romance novelist experiencing her real life romance novel play out before her eyes? Absolutely genius. I feel super honored to have gotten the opportunity to have an ARC copy of this from @netgalley and I will 100% be buying a copy for my trophy collection come April!
Margot is a famous romance writer who is known for writing the best ~happily ever after~ endings. Only problem? She doesn’t believe in happy endings after a flighty dad, a botched engagement, and a sister with an unfair health diagnosis. So she has a secret word document on her computer with happily ~never~ after alternate endings to all of her books. When its leaked to the public, she is instantly canceled by all her fans. Her sister books her a 6 week trip to Alaska to push her to write a new book, escape the negativity, and to give her a break from her caretaking role. And OF COURSE she meets a rugged Alaskan wilderness man, Forrest, at the lodge she’s staying in. And OF COURSE she experiences all the best tropes: cute meet cute, enemies to lovers, forced proximity with one tent and many more. Gah I could go on and on. Mark your calendars for April with this one!

I absolutely adored this book. I’m a sucker for a good rom-com (especially ones like this one with Taylor Swift references honed to perfection) - and this one checked all of the boxes. I laughed, I smiled, and I cried. The title and cover initially caught my interest and I am SO glad it did!
Margot is down-on-her-luck with love as an author who writes romance novels. When things go south in her career, the sister she has always taken care of gives her the opportunity to reinvent herself in the Alaskan wilderness where she meets Forrest. Margot and Forrest balance one another perfectly as they are to sides of the same coin who see one another, flaws and all.
If you’re looking for a feel good romance with clever banter and character growth that ALSO has spice, look no further. Victoria Lavine, you are a new “go-to” romance author for me, you officially have a new fan. Thank you so much for this ARC NetGalley!
