Thank you Net Galley and Atria Books for the ARC in return for an honest review!
This was such a fun read! A new twist on romance and I found myself giggling and kicking my feet the whole time. It wasn’t quite a 5 star read for me but overall it was a solid 4.5 and I can walk away saying I LOVED it.
A romance writer keeps a computer file of alternate Happily Never After endings for all her book characters that gets hacked and leaked to all her die hard, adoring fans. In, what feels like the pit of her career, she escapes (with the help of her super sweet sister) to Alaska to get away from it all, start fresh and hopefully write a new book in a new genre. But lo and behold she runs into basically Mr. Perfect who is every single romance trope in one that she’s been trying so hard to avoid. One thing leads to another and another and she finds herself maaaaaybe believing in happily ever afters again.
The banter was so cute, quirky, silly and playful. This author is so creative with words and was throwing together sentences that had me actually laughing out loud. The spicy scenes were spicy but not super vulgar, which I loved and the chemistry was burning 🔥 Just the right amount of sweet and serious moments with family along the way and some needed, deep, internal reflection for both the MFC and MMC.
The MFC can be a bit unlikable at times but when you realize it’s all a front and her manner of defense, it does make sense and it’s hard not to feel for her and want her to find her HEA.
I will say, as much as I loved the creative sentences and words, simple ones are okay as well!! It felt like every sentence was written with so many extra descriptive words and metaphors that I lost track of what we were talking about at times.
Overall, if you love romance and you love all the tropes — we’re talking enemies to lovers, small town, humble doctor, supportive sis, getaway turned unexpected romance, ONE TENT, then this is a book you HAVE to add to your TBR. Comes out 4/1!

As a current card holding member of the NOT HEA Club, this book has me thinking maybe I should lightly pencil in reevaluating my position on this subject. No promises, though.
Margot is a doll. She had me not only laughing throughout her escapades but sympathizing with the yuck that ALWAYS comes with L O V E. One would think Alaska is a great place to hide away from it all. I guess you'll have to read and find out.
Levine does a fantastic job of including almost every possible trope this book. From Alaska to Bullwinkle to Cranky MMCs I think you'll enjoy this book as much as I did.

🔉Thank you to Victoria Lavine, Atria Books, and NetGalley for this arc of Any Trope but You, out April 1, 2025!
📜Quick Summary: Margot is a romance author, but one that isn’t keen on the topic of love herself. Heck, just tell that to her engagement ring that’s at the bottom of the Pacific. Even though she writes love stories with happily ever afters, she has a folder with an alternate ending… if these characters were in the real world. When this leaks during a podcast event with her readers, Margot fears her career is over. When her sister sends her in the middle of nowhere Alaska, the next setting for her upcoming novel, she runs into Forrest, a burly, handsome doctor who runs the Inn she’s staying at. Cue all the romance tropes at once! Will Margot fall for the romance meet cutes she writes? Or will she focus on what really matters; her writing and her sister?
❣️Initial Feels: I love the sarcasm and confidence Margot carries, and I can already sense that I will be laughing out loud to her many jokes! Love the flow and ease of the book already!
👀Trigger Warnings: spicy talk, death of parent,
🌶️Spice Level: 3 🌶️🌶️🌶️
📖Read if you want: romance, spice, laugh out loud moments, all the tropes, dual point of view chapters, forced proximity
🙋🏼♀️Moving Character: Margot is sarcastic, smart, funny, and such a caring sister. Their relationship gave me all the feels! Forrest was such a strong and emotional man who truly cared for others. Both of them are winners for me!
🗨️Touching Words: “The future is a slippery thing.”
“Reckless hope is the last ember to fade into darkness.”
💡Final Sentiments: Overall, I loved this novel! This was a perfect palate cleanser and a refreshing read! A brilliant debut and I will follow this author to read more of her work! This novel packed a lot into its pages, and even though I couldn’t put it down, I didn’t want to stop reading it. There was so much raw emotion from both of our main leads, and I could feel their angst in some of the pages. I love how she paired the deep emotions with sarcasm and laughter, as well as make fun of all the romance tropes out there. She put together a beautiful cast of characters, and I felt like all of them held an important part in Margot and Forrest’s life. I would LOVE to see a second novel with these characters, or maybe one from her sister’s point of view! The author’s acknowledgements were also touching. A beautiful read!
🌟Overall Rating: 4.5 stars
This novel was provided by the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review.

My oh my, I so enjoyed this book ❤️
This book had everything: all the feels, a beautiful sisterhood, personal growth, healing from loss, a sweet love story, a smoking hot relationship, and soooo many tropes. Let’s see if I can list most of them:
🫎 meet cute
❄️ one tent/bed
🫎 hot doctor/smells good/cinnamon roll MMC
❄️ romance novelist FMC
🫎 forced proximity
❄️ snowed in
🫎 enemies to lovers
❄️ HEA
🫎 dual POV
❄️ banter
🫎 truly so many, read to find out the rest
Honestly I thought I’d be annoyed by all these tropes being included in one book, but it was so well done. Remember my review of another book when I said it took itself too seriously? This book was the opposite, putting humor into every trope mentioned, often calling them out. Instead of being annoying, it felt like an ode to all great romcoms. And behind all these tropes was a great story with wit, depth, and compassion.
Victoria Lavine is a debut author, and I cannot WAIT to read any future works she shares.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Any Trope but You was a fun book to read. As the title suggests, it's full of romance tropes. It might be a little ridiculous, but the fact that the characters are pointing it out makes it more comedic than cheesy. I really liked both main characters, Margot and Forrest. I thought Margot felt especially real with all her mishaps and really being out of her comfort zone. The relationship that develops brings on a decent amount of spice, so if that's not your thing, you may want to give this one a pass. Plot-wise there wasn't anything all that surprising along the way, but it wasn't something I was expecting either. Bonus points for the great setting in the Alaskan wilderness! It made a nice wintertime read.
Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for the advance copy of Any Trope but You! All opinions are completely my own.

This is a phenomenal romance read! A beloved romance writer gets cancelled, and her sister sends her to a remote Alaskan resort to reinvent herself. Upon arriving at the remote resort, she runs smack into the ruggedly handsome resort owner and into her own real life romcom. The romance tropes abound, and are so incredibly woven throughout the story. I mean the one tent and body warming scene?!?!
This is the author’s debut, and I’m already looking forward to her next!
Thank you Atria for the advanced reader’s copy!

the way that I adored this book!!
It was so funny and cute at the same time. I reallt enjoy the scenario and the tropes and everything in between!!
I am in love with this female main hcaracther!

Special thanks to Netgalley and Atria Books for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest opinions!
This book follows Margot as she escapes to Alaska after having a private file of alternate endings to her romance novels gets leaked and she is made to be the ultimate villain amongst romance readers. She immediately clashes with Forrest, the Alaskan resort owner's son. As her trip unfolds, so does her dislike to lovers romance with him.
This book's title is very fitting: it had a LOT of tropes in it, which distracted me from the story at times. It was a fun. read, but not a new favorite by any means.

Thank you, Netgalley, for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book! The chemistry between the characters was everything! It was so fun, electric, and full of heart. Victoria Lavine did an incredible job crafting a romance that felt both swoon-worthy and deeply emotional. The banter was top-tier, the tension was perfect, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! I absolutely LOVED Savannah; I hope we see her again in the future. I'm adding Victoria Lavine to my list of automatic read authors!

Thank you, Atria, for Any Trope but You! I absolutely loved this romance. It’s always exciting when an author can make familiar tropes feel fresh, and Victoria Lavine nails it here.
The standout for me was the well-drawn characters—I genuinely connected with Margot, whose edgy yet loving personality made her so engaging. I laughed out loud just from the first chapter, thanks to the sharp writing, witty dialogue, and Margot’s inner monologue. Forestt’s backstory and his growing connection with Margot felt natural and compelling, adding real depth to their dynamic.
The ending was especially well-crafted—satisfying without feeling rushed or cliché, honoring both the characters' journeys and the novel’s broader themes. I’m especially impressed that this is a debut, and I can’t wait to read more from Lavine.
Yes, this book is packed with tropes, but it doesn’t just acknowledge them—it celebrates why we love them. From the classic one-bed scenario to enemies-to-lovers tension, it all builds toward that much-anticipated HEA in a way that feels both familiar and fresh.

Fun fun fun! A most read for romance lovers! A wonderful ode to the genre with an engaging cast of characters and a luscious setting!

What a fun debut! Any Trope but You is a sharp, hilarious love letter to romance itself—both as a genre and as a force shaping how we perceive real-life relationships. Margot and Forrest’s dynamic was endlessly amusing, taking them from enemies to very reluctant (one tent!) allies and eventually to something more. Their banter and chemistry were top notch, and watching them clumsily navigate their feelings towards each other was entertaining as hell.
Beyond the humor and tropes, the novel also dives into deeper themes of family, responsibility, and caretaking, adding layers of emotion that made the story even more impactful. The remote Alaskan setting added some extra charm, making the forced proximity feel cozier and the stakes higher.
Victoria Levine’s fresh, witty voice makes this an irresistible read. I have no doubt she’ll find an adoring audience through this debut!

This was so cute and so fun. I actually laughed out loud a few times. Margot does not believe in love but writes romance books for a living. When her chronically ill sister books for a 6 week stay in Alaska to write a murder mystery she meets Forrest. Their chemistry was genuine. Their banter and ups and downs had me reading late into the night. This book had deeper themes of ill family members and responsibility which made the book impactful. This author knows how to write a romance book. I highly recommend this book!

The premise of Any Trope But You had me hooked from the start. A bestselling romance author, Margot Bradley, finds herself in hot water when her secret Happily Never After file—where she rewrites her book endings to be more realistic—leaks to the public. Her career takes a nosedive, and in an effort to salvage her image, her sister sends her on a “Reinvention” trip to a wilderness resort in Alaska. There, she meets Forrest, a broody, handsome doctor who seems straight out of one of her own romance novels. The attraction is undeniable, but Margot does everything she can to fight it.
This setup had so much potential—an author escaping to the wild to switch genres and reinvent herself? A grumpy, hot doctor in the middle of nowhere? It sounded like the perfect mix of romance, self-discovery, and humor. But unfortunately, my reading experience didn’t quite match my expectations.
Margot was a tough character to connect with. She often came across as rude, entitled, and overly defensive, making it hard to root for her. And in a romance, if you don’t like the main character, the love story itself starts to fall flat. I struggled to see why Forrest was interested in her, especially given how she treated him. Their dynamic lacked the chemistry and emotional depth that I usually love in romance novels.
That being said, the Alaska setting was a definite highlight. The descriptions of the wilderness and resort life added a cozy, atmospheric touch that made me wish I was there. And if you’re looking for steam, this book delivers plenty of it.
Overall, while the concept was intriguing, the execution didn’t fully work for me.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley, Atria Books and Victoria Lavine for the ARC!
If you are a romance reader that loves - and loves to poke fun at - tropes, this book is for you. It was a fun read of love lost and found that has me searching flights to Alaska in my other browser tab.
Will definitely be recommending to all my friends to read before the winter ends!

Victoria Lavine's Any Trope but You is one of the most spectacular, hilarious, and romantic debuts I've read. It took me a little less than thirty-six hours to finish it and I'm dying to go back and reread it. Victoria has officially become one of my auto-buy authors!
Margot Bradley is a romance author. Romance authors generally believer in Happily Ever Afters, but not Margot. Margot believes in Happily Never Afters. This belief might have developed after having her heart broken by her former fiancé, though. During a livestream with her readers, her secret belief is exposed and she's effectively canceled by the entire romance community.
Savannah, Margot's chronically-ill sister, takes it upon herself to take Margot's mind off her troubles. Savannah books Margot six weeks in a remote Alaskan resort so she can switch genres and write a murder mystery. Margot shows up at the resort and gets spooked by a moose named Bullwinkle, and jumps into the arms of Dr. Forrest Wakefield, the resort owners's son. As meet-cutes go, this one had me grinning because I knew right then and there, this book was going to make me smile and laugh and probably cry a little,
I loved seeing Margot and Forrest go through one romance trope after another. Any Trope but You has everything I want in a rom-com book--witty banter, comedic moments, heartfelt interactions, and spicy scenes. I'm begging you to pick up a copy on April 1st (no, that's not an April Fools joke).
Thank you so much Atria Books for providing me with an e-ARC!

This is sure to be a major hit! A romance author who doesn't believe in love and is then, of course, thrust into her own love story full of every cliche trope she's written about in the past? It's catnip for romance readers. I loved it.

Thank you for this fun, warm and fuzzy read! The ups and downs for these characters actually had me giggle and tear up! I loved how the physical and technological isolation allowed the Margot and Forrest to be truly focused on each and what truly mattered to them. It makes me want to install a sauna!

Review: "Any Trope But You" by Victoria Levine – ★★★★★
Victoria Levine’s Any Trope But You is an absolute gem that deftly navigates the landscape of rom-com tropes while flipping them on their head in the most delightful way. It’s witty, sharp, spicy, and heartwarming, with characters that jump off the page and a plot that keeps you turning pages long into the night.
The story follows Margot and Forrest, two unlikely protagonists who are forced to work together, and while their banter is electric, it’s the way they grow and evolve that truly takes center stage. Levine cleverly subverts the tropes we’ve all come to expect in romantic comedies, offering something fresh and exciting. The chemistry between the leads is palpable and so well-written that you’ll find yourself rooting for them every step of the way.
What sets this book apart is the author’s ability to blend humor with vulnerability, creating a perfect balance of lighthearted fun and genuine emotional depth. It’s a page-turner with moments that’ll make you laugh out loud and others that’ll tug at your heartstrings.
In short, Any Trope But You is a must-read for anyone who loves romance with a twist. Levine’s voice is unique, engaging, and the perfect antidote to the typical romantic comedy. If you’re looking for a book that feels like a warm hug with a dash of humor and heart, this is it. It’ll have anyone believing in happily ever afters! Five stars all the way!
Thank you to Net Galley and Victoria Lavigne for this ARC. I still can’t believe this is her first book. I’ll definitely be first in line to read all the other ones she creates in the future! Run, don’t walk to add this book to your TBR list!

I can’t believe this is the debut for this author, oh my it is so good!!! I love all of the tropes that were incorporated (they were not done in a heavy handed manner). Plus, I love when the premise of a story is an author writing a novel (the way the writing process works is very interesting to me). I love absolutely everything about the male lead (like yes he is every romance novel character stereotype, but it works).
For a debut (heck, any romance novel) this is a good one.
