This one just didn't resonate with me. I felt like, even 40 pages in, there was too much overexplanation, too much telling instead of showing, and too much OTT humor. I loveee me a romcom, but the jokes and internal monologues in here felt like too much. I also felt like it was insta love and within the first chapter the MMC is talking about how much he's obsessively thinking about the FMC and already creeping on her bra/underwear color??????? i love atria books but this was just a miss for me.

As an Alaskan I really appreciated all of the references and found it cool knowing certain places. I loved Margot and Forest they had the sweetest romance. I loved seeing Margot adjust to the Alaska lifestyle there were parts that had me laughing out loud. Overall this was a sweet read!

This was super cute! Oddly enough, sometimes the tropes in regular romance novels, while entertaining, get old but I like when they’re talked about like in this book and Book Lovers. I was surprised this was her first book - I’d definitely read another by her!

You know that feeling when a book just gets you? That was this. Beautiful and honest.
It felt like being seen on the page. A quiet, personal masterpiece.

The story was intriguing, a romance author who no longer believes in HEA. It was nice to see a skeptical romance author.
I enjoyed getting to know the family members of both Margot and Forest. Both Margot and Forest are caretakers at the expense of everything else, and I enjoyed seeing them grow as they got to know each other. The letters Margot’s sister provided to her were wonderful.
There is plenty of humor and spic,e and it was overall a sweet story.
Thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books, and Victoria Lavine for the eARC.

Cute read! I really enjoyed the main character's tongue in cheek awareness of romance books. Some readers might find it trite, but I found it charming. I read a lot of romance books, and one comes to expect a certain formula. It was refreshing to see that called out while being followed. The tension grew and resolved organically. I really appreciated the side characters and the discussion of duty vs guilt. I wish I had a mountain man to hit the sauna with!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.
On one had, loved the premise for this book, it had a super interesting plot and was well-written. On the other hand, insufferable main characters. One-dimensional at times and went to the absolute extreme on everything. If an author released romance novels in the real world and something got leaked saying she didn't actually believe in happy endings, my first move wouldn't be straight to cancelling her. A lot of things like that were blown wayyyyyy out of proportion, I can only suspend my disbelief so much. It was still good for a debut novel, I'm interested in seeing where Victoria Levine can go!

everything about this book is like catnip to me. i ate it up. the meet cute, the clever use and identification of tropes since the fmc is a romance author, plus it has my kryptonite all-time god tier microtrope. “he’s read everything she’s ever written” you will always be famous !!!!!!

Thanks to Atria for the gifted copy of this book!
A bestselling romance author who doesn't believe in HEAs?! Color me intrigued. When Margot Bradley heads to Alaska, she's ready to take care of her chronically ill sister and ends up falling in love. I love that Forrest ended up being a total cinnamon roll after the initial enemies-to-lovers trope, there was quite a bit of steam, and the one bed trope(!!!). I did find the characters a bit immature, but this was a great debut!

This was a fun and cute read! I love the main characters and the story kept me hooked the whole time!

This was such a fun easy read! I personally preferred the audiobook for this - great spice, the FMC is a romance author, and as a romance reader getting hit by every rom com trope. You can tell that this is a love letter to romance readers and you can expect most of the classic romance tropes in there.
If you’re looking for a palate cleanser between reads, or something fun and heartwarming, this is it.

Thank you Atria for my e-review copy. My opinions are my own.
Read this for:
- a romp through romance tropes
- grump/grump
- only one tent
- forced proximity
- a moose named Bullwinkle
- a romance author who has fallen out of love with love
- meddling sister
My thoughts:
This is a book that has so many romance tropes, you can't read a page without tripping over one, but it's so much fun that I just went with the flow and had a very good time with it. Margot is a much beloved romance author whose secret Happily Never After alternate endings gets leaked and she finds herself cancelled by her fans, but honestly I vibed with Margot for the majority of the book, she's a little caustic, and more than a little guarded. Being shipped off to Alaska for 6 weeks to write a mystery novel, she's thrown into a world that is vastly different to her native southern California. Forrest looks like he just walked out of one of Margot's books. Add in that he's a doctor...and taking care of his dad and the family resort business.... the story writes itself. Like I said - there are tropes so plentiful that you trip over them page by page, but its a fun ride. I love Savannah's challenge to Margot, to get out of her little comfort rut and prove to Margot that she's capable of more, and also that she's an amazing writer.
This is one that I will recommend highly, but only for those who like rom-coms.

4.5/5⭐
This was so much fun! This book really felt like a celebration of romance novels and all the tropes we love (it's in the title, after all!). Victoria Lavine really packed the tropes in and did a great job of allowing us to enjoy them while also poking affectionate fun at them along the way. (I have to say though, two people CANNOT fit in one sleeping bag comfortably, romance novel or not. 😂)
This missed the 5 star rating from me because I would loved a bit more development of their relationship, and also the writing (while mostly delightful) relied a bit too heavily on descriptive metaphors for my taste.
I definitely recommend checking this one out though, especially for romance lovers!

Let's start with what I liked: the Alaska setting, the humor, the adventures they went on, the side characters and found family aspect, the hilarious underwear scene in the beginning. There was a lot of good here! You definitely do have to suspend reality a bit to buy into the cancellation of Margot's career - I really don't think romance readers care enough about the author's private lives to cancel them for writing alternative endings? Or maybe I just don't? It seemed like a lot. But if you can do that, it's absolutely hilarious. I liked that Margot and Forrest were both caretakers, but I was very glad when the loved ones they were looking after finally told them to get their own lives. Listen to the people around you!
This book is hard for me to rate because I didn't really like Margot, and while that's not always a disqualifier for me it does make a romance hard to buy into. I loved Forrest and the side characters though, so that helped... but also made me wonder why they all liked Margot so much and why no one put her in her place. I am a sucker for an enemies to lovers book, it's my favorite trope. That being said, the "enemies" aspect in this book did feel a bit forced. Margot was mean to Forrest from the very first meeting for no reason. I kept trying to find the reason she was being so rude to him, but the only thing I could come up with was that he had a nice face? I don't think being attractive warrants how she treated him. I also noticed that once she realized she was wrong and acknowledged that she was passing judgments on him that weren't accurate, she still didn't change her ways. She just got ruder? It bothered me and I wanted someone to tell her off, but it never happened.
I know the title of the book has "Any Trope" in the title but this book had A LOT of tropes. Almost too many? I did like how the FMC was an author and called out the tropes though, it was like her way of breaking the fourth wall and acknowledging how ridiculous everything was. That part was fun!

Thank you so much for allowing me to review this ARC. I've had my eye on it for a while and I'm pleased I got a chance to read it.
Our story follows Margot, a popular (and now very jaded) romance author who takes a personal reset trip to Alaska after an embarrassing incident leaves her reeling. Soon after arriving, she meets our MC Forrest. Forrest is a walking, talking romance book boyfriend come to life. Margot quickly decides to keep far away from him and focus her own journey and goals in coming to Alaska. Forrest has his own reasons from staying away from Margot. as well. The growing attraction between them, however, becomes hard for them to ignore.
What I liked:
1.) The setting. I really like reading about stories set in Alaska (a state I have never set foot in, but am somehow fascinated by)!
2.) Dual POVs. I love hearing the internal monologue from both characters. Margot constantly referencing all the romance tropes Forrest was checking off throughout the first half was pretty hilarious. I loved how meta it was!
3.) As a person who likes to be helpful and useful to those around me (to my own detriment at times), I identified SO MUCH with the plight of both Margot and Forrest. Their similar circumstances really helped me to "buy into" their romance. It wasn't just attraction or forced proximity. They made sense as a couple. The conflict of their relationship wasn't an easy fix and the author did a good job getting that across to the reader.
What I didn't like:
1.) I like my romances on the lighter-side of spicy. I used to be all about spice and now? Not so much. I just skipped those parts. Is it a big deal for me? No. But if we're talking MY personal ideal romance, I'd prefer less spice,
2.) WAY TOO MANY J.C. and G.D. bombs. They were pretty excessive. I can deal with one or two. But there were A LOT when I was reading from Forrest's POV. Like dozens in a chapter.
Overall, I'd give this book a 3.5 star rating. If my cons list doesn't bother you, you'll probably really enjoy this book!

What a fun read! Margot is the author of several best-selling romance books, but she has a secret - she personally does not believe in "Happily Ever After." In fact, for each of her books, she has a written an alternate ending - in a file she calls the "Happily Never After," where her characters face divorce, adultery, etc. When her computer is hacked and the "Happily Never After" file is leaked to the public, her publisher drops her and her fans abandon her.
Margot's sister, Savannah, lives with her and suggests that Margot should get out of town to regroup. Savannah plans a six-week adventure in Alaska for Margot, who plans to abandon her romance writing and try her hand at a murder mystery. When Margot finds out that the "resort" that Savannah has chosen is an isolated, remote location, with no cell phone reception, she's ready to return to LA immediately, but then meets Forrest. Forrest is the son of the owner of the resort - tall, handsome, and every "romantic trope" in the book. We follow Margot's adventures as she tries to re-invent her career. But with sexy Forrest in the picture, will romance be far behind?
This was a great rom-com read that any fan of the genre with enjoy! Special thanks to the Publisher and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy of this title. Any Trope but You is available now!

Amazing Romcom Romance,
A must to include on your TBR for 2025, the chemistry is off the chart for this couple.

absolutely loved Any Trope But You! It's such a fresh and engaging take on the romance genre. The story follows Margot, a romance writer who's dealing with a career scandal after admitting she doesn't actually believe in love. To reinvent herself, she heads off to Alaska and ends up face to face with Forrest, who is basically a romance hero come to life.
The dynamic between Margot and Forrest was so much fun to read, and I appreciated how the story balanced humor, heart, and some really thoughtful moments. One thing that really stood out to me was the inclusion of Margot's sister and the representation of autoimmune illness-it added a layer of authenticity and depth that I wasn't expecting but really valued.
From the stunning Alaskan backdrop to the clever plot and well-developed characters, this book kept me hooked from start to finish. If you're into romance with a twist, this one's worth picking up.

Thanks to NetGalley and Atria books for the ARC for an honest review.
I was really looking forward to reading this book however it just didn’t hit for me.
This is about a romance author who goes to Alaska to get away from her leaked happy never after she was dropped by all her fans. She went to Alaska to escape the embarrassment to a remote area where she meets Forrest who is a walking romance trope.
Margot for me was just an unlikable character that I couldn’t connect to throughout the book. I did the love she had for her sister which I loved throughout the book more.
Forrest was just a guy that I am sure every girl dreams about when reading trope romance books but I couldn’t really connect to their romance story.
The open door scenes in the book as well I wasn’t very into them.
For me unfortunately this book was not it for me but I hope other readers will enjoy!

3.75 out of 5 stars
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria books for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest thoughts.
I thought this book was cute. I think the concept was fun and I had fun with the mentions of tropes and the characters. I did think it was over the top and extra at times but it was still a fun time. Margot from LA and Forrest (a doctor and caretaker to his ailing father) who lives in Alaska and runs a wilderness retreat. I thought the mention of the bookstagram community was so fun.
