This plot was clever but I really struggled with the believability of the story and therefore struggled to connect with the characters. Thanks for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Who doesn't love a romance book about a romance author? This had me giggling and kicking my feet the whole time

I really enjoyed this book! Margot is such a loveable, heartbroken character that sacrifices so much of herself for sister. We see a reflection of this in Forrest as well, except slightly different circumstances.
Having a California girl sent to Alaska?! BRUTAL but the cold was worth the reward. Every step of the way, Margot acknowledges the classic romance tropes and refuses to give inβ¦.until they do.π€ I love their chemistry and how they bond over their mutual sacrifices for the people they love.
This was such a fun, cozy read that I recommend checking out! Iβm excited for what the future holds for author Victoria Lavine! Tropes to look forward to:
βοΈForced Proximity
βοΈDislike to Lovers
βοΈOnly One Tent

Knocked it out of the park for a debut novel!! This was such a fun concept for a book, and I loved the Dual POVs!! Truly felt like the most quintessential rom-com with emotion and spice and an HEA!

If I didnβt know, this was a debut novel going in I would have immediately started looking for a blacklist once I was done!
Any Trope But You is a debut that will leave you laughing and craving more from the author once finished.
When and interview and Q&A session goes terribly wrong our FMC Margot, who is a best selling Romance Author tryβs to salvage her career but reinventing herself. With help from her sister sheβs travels to Alaska to write her first Murder mystery debutβ¦ will this author who doesnβt believe in happily ever afters succeed or will our handsome MMC, Forrest, who is the epitome of all the tropes combine get in her way.
I thought this was very well written . It flowed very well. I didnβt feel that there was any pacing issues. I really enjoyed how as a romance writer. If there was a trope that came up, she felt the need to point it out. I also felt that the growth of both the characters was very well developed. I very much look forward to see what else this author does in the future.

I kind of loved this book! Itβs a debut by the author, Victoria Lavine but sheβs very clever to make it about tropes, a romance author whoβs lost faith in romance, a fish out of water in a wilderness camp, meeting the trope of all trope men, who sheβs written about in her books. Will they wonβt they? They donβt start off on a good foot. So many romance tropes, but itβs on purpose and it works! Looking forward to more from her!

Any Trope But You offers a dual-pov and while the premise is intriguing, the execution didn't quite work for me. I almost DNF'd a few times because of some slow moving or frustrating moments. It was a mixed bag because i found the FMC too annoying to connect with and the MMC too corny but overall the story had its entertaining moments.
Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for providing the ARC.

This book was really cute. Margot being a romance writer that gets found out for not loving HEAs, I LOVE THAT. I am also someone who enjoys reading a HEA but I also enjoy reading sad / dark / alternate endings. So I related to her on that. I actually really liked the tropes being brought up and Margot being like what the heck every time Forrest did something cute. And they had a fun meet cute.
Mr. Hot tub seemed hot emotionally, academically, and partnership wise. Very swoon worthy.
Them both having people they loved and felt that they needed to be caregivers of was cute, but I found the plot hit a lull in the middle / towards the end that made putting the book down really easy. Iβm glad the ending was to the point and the make-up was incredible. Overall, very cute read, would be great for casual romance reader or a rainy /snowy day inside! Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks to NetGalley for sending me this ARC to read!

Romance author Margot doesnβt believe in Happily Ever Afters. When her Happily Never After document is hacked and released to the public, she finds herself canceled by her readers and dropped by her publisher. Margot's sister books her a six-week stay in a remote Alaskan resort to pen her first murder mystery, Margot finds herself running from a moose and leaping into the arms of the handsome proprietor, making her fear sheβs just landed in a romance novel instead. Forrest left his dream job as a cancer researcher to care for his stubborn, ailing father, until Margot shows up. But Forrest doesnβt have any room in his life for another person he could lose, especially one with a checkout date. As long snowy nights and one unlikely trope after another draw Margot and Forrest together, theyβll each have to learn to overcome their fears and set their aside assumptions before Margot leavesβor risk becoming a Happily Never After story themselves.
This book is the quintessential rom-com - it has heart, a bit of spiciness, some swoon and humor. It is a stellar debut novel and I cannot wait until I can read Victoria's next book! It's a story that deals with learning to love and trust again.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for early access to Any Trope but You!
I loved this story about Margot and Forrest! Margot is a romance author is who outed for not believing in happily ever afters anymore. Her sister sends her to a remote Alaskan resort to decompress from the fallout of this reveal to her readers and to reset. There she meets Forrest, a doctor who is taking care of his father after an accident and truly has a heart of gold. During Margot's visit they form an enemies to lovers eque connection and so many other romance tropes along the way.
I enjoyed the creativity of the tropes throughout this book and really felt for the characters as they find their own identity outside of caring for a family member (Margot takes care of her sister with an auto-immune disease). Overall this book was tenderhearted, slightly steamy and a fun adventure. I loved it and think you will too especially as we get into colder weather temps!

Any Trope But You is like a love letter to every rom-com fan whoβs ever giggled over a trope and thought, Iβd do it differently. Itβs the story of two stubborn characters who refuse to follow the script and somehow end up even cuter because of it.
Our leads meet under anything but ideal circumstances, and the slow build is as sweet as a cup of hot cocoa on a rainy day. The best part? Theyβre constantly dodging classic romantic setups: ignoring βonly one bedβ situations, sidestepping candlelit dinners, and tripping over their own feet trying not to get caught up in βaccidental hand-holding.β Their chemistry is adorable, full of witty banter and stolen glances that they pretend not to notice.
The book feels like watching two people try not to fall in love and totally failing in the sweetest, funniest ways. Itβs perfect for anyone who loves romance but appreciates a fresh, heartwarming twist on all those well-loved clichΓ©s. By the end, youβll be rooting for them to embrace every trope in the bookβand, spoiler, they do it in the cutest way possible.

If you love romance that flips the script on all your favorite tropes, Any Trope but You by Victoria Lavine is a must-read! The story follows two romance-averse characters who seem determined to avoid every classic trope while inadvertently stumbling into them all. It's a clever, heartwarming, and hilarious exploration of what happens when two people who think they know what they donβt want in love find themselves constantly thrown into the most clichΓ© situationsβand loving every minute of it.
The chemistry between the main characters is electric, with witty banter and moments that will make you laugh out loud. Lavineβs writing shines as she pokes fun at the most beloved romance conventions while simultaneously making you fall head over heels for the very tropes the characters are trying to avoid. From fake dating to forced proximity, every twist is a playful nod to classic romance, but with a fresh, modern twist that keeps the pages turning.
A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! Any Trope but You is a rom-com delight that delivers both laughs and feels, making it an instant favorite on my romance shelf.

I loved this book! What a debut!! I know I'll be looking for more from this author in the future.
I think all romance readers will love this book. It has all the best tropes in one book, and leaves out the awful ones. I found myself squealing throughout as I read and loved how the two main characters both understood each other so well.

A cute romance novel with lots of heart, whatβs not to love?!This was my first ever NetGalley ARC (Thank you!!) and I can tell this book will have a special place in my heart. I truly enjoyed Margotβs journey and her story with Forrest.

I enjoyed this so much!
I was so angry for Margot in the beginning when her privacy got violated. It was incredibly unfair but Iβm happy with the path it led her down.
The meet-cute between Margot and Forrest was so fun. I became obsessed with them instantly.
I always love when thereβs resistance on both sides and they πππππ canβt stay away.
Being in Margotβs head was extremely entertaining. I loved how mad she was that she kept feeling like she was in one of her own romance novels. Just the way that whole plot line was written was so comical.
This book had so many funny moments but also some emotional ones too. Margotβs sister Savannah had me tearing up multiple times. Their relationship was so special.
I also enjoyed the relationship between Forrest and his dad. Both Forrest and Margot were so selfless and willing to give up anything for their family. Itβs what made them understand each other so deeply and a reason why they worked so well together.
Iβll definitely be rereading this when I get my hands on the paperback next spring!

This book has a charming premise: Margot, a beloved romance author, secretly jaded by her own genre, creates more realistic alternate endings for her characters. When these endings accidentally leak online, sheβs βcanceledβ by her fanbase. In an effort to reinvent herself, she retreats to a remote Alaskan resort, where she meets Forrestβa walking, talking romance trope in human form.
While the premise was full of potential, the execution ultimately didnβt work for me. Margot, while an interesting character, wasnβt particularly likable, and I never really connected with her. I also struggled with her lack of growth throughout the story. Forrest, though a cute idea, felt more like a stereotype than a fully fleshed-out character, and unfortunately, I didnβt feel much chemistry between him and Margot, even with the many open-door scenes (which, to be fair, didnβt appeal to me).
The central βwill they, wonβt theyβ tension dragged on too long in the second half of the book and began to feel repetitive. I can see this book resonating with many readers, but personally, it wasnβt quite the right fit.
That said, I believe Victoria Levine has a lot of talent, and I look forward to seeing what she writes next.

Thank you netgalley for the chance to read this! I ADORED this: absolute smash hit for those people who also just love romance books.
This story follows Margot, a romance writer who gets cancelled when the world finds out about her secret feelings about HEA (or the fact that they dont exist!). She's sent to a remote Alaskan lodge to reconnect with herself at the request of her sister. There we meet Forrest: the living embodiment of the romance tropes!
This dual POV has EVERYTHING I look for: sizzling chemistrt, perfect slow burn, witty and intense banter, crazy hijinks, and once the corner is turned SPICE SPICE SPICE. There is a scene in a sauna that is HOT for more than one reason. But what makes this shine is its roots in some really beautiful B story lines. Forrest and Margot have both sacrificed for their medically complex family, have successful careers they've had to give up, and the weight of the world on their shoulders. They've experienced real heartbreak and it shows in the cautious way they get together. It's really touching and raw. The side characters are so well developed and while I normally hate 3rd act break ups, this one just WORKED.
Adored this. Don't miss it

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC! This book is for the romance girlies!! The slow burn was givingggggg, it was forced proximity, enemies to lovers, truly all the best tropes. I loved this story so much and i cant wait for everyone else to read it!!

A cozy winter read! Loved the relationship dynamic and growth between Margot and Forrest, and the setting and supporting characters were perfect for their story.

Victoria wrote such a fun, cozy, and steamy rom-com, and it's set in Alaska, which I adore. I haven't read a book set in Alaska since K.A. Tucker's The Simple Wild and it definitely held up to my love for that book! Forrest is the ultimate book boyfriend, and I thoroughly enjoyed all the tropes he and Margot went through, especially as she isn't oblivious to them (since she's an author). Also, as someone whose husband has an autoimmune disorder, I related to Margot and her love (and worry) for her sister. Beautiful book!
