Thank you NetGalley and the publishing team for this ARC. I engulfed this book in 2.5 days probably could’ve been one if work and sleep weren’t necessary. This book sucked me in, I needed to know what happened to Tessa’s career, I needed to know about the Nacka Four and Isle Blind. This book is a 3.5 star for me but I rounded it up to 4, it gave me vibes of The Wedding Party, and with the flipping timeline The Apothecary. I was interested in both timelines for this story unlike the latter. We mostly follow Tessa and her friends at Annaleise’s bachelorette party on the island but we also get snippets of the past from 10 years ago when Matilda and her friends (The Naka Four) are on the island and seen for the last time and the days leading up to it. The only thing that would make this book better is more! I need to know the police involvement, how they were saved, a further epilogue of everyone being more okay and moving on. Tessa doing a podcast and rebooting her career thanks to her own involvement and coverage of a true crime case. It felt like you just learned they survived and I was left wanting more, but the pace and suspense was great!

This one fell a bit flat for me. I enjoyed the atmospheric setting but found myself confused alot. There were quite a few characters and shifting timelines.

A strange disappearance years ago. A new group of women appear on the island, what are some of their connections to the past? Great concept. But execution didn't pan out well for me. I liked the suspense, the character development and the setting. But too many intentional gaps in the last 15 years to know what was really going on, who was hiding their identity. Plus, the murders seemed like a tool rather than a pivotal point in a character's life. Almost like an afterthought, as it was more about revenge without a motive until the end. But I liked the writing style and will read another from the author to see how it goes.

I received this ebook from NetGalley in exchange for honest review.

I rated this book four stars, but my overall feelings are a bit mixed.

Pros:
- Short chapters
- Multiple timelines to tell different aspects/POVs of storyline
- Quick and easy read; engaging
- Written like a typical scary movie

Cons:
- A few small plot holes, that can totally be overlooked, as they can be determined from your own inferencing
- Slightly predictable. I had it mostly figured out before I hit the halfway mark

Overall, I did enjoy it. I was hoping I was wrong on the “twist” but I wasn’t. I just didn’t know every specific detail. Despite that, I still didn’t want to put the book down. I read it in three short(er) sittings.

If you are looking for a quick read that will keep you interested, I think you’ll enjoy this book.

This is a well-written, entertaining, fast paced thriller. It has a sympathetic female protagonist, mystery, suspense, intrigue, the unbreakable bond between sisters, twists and turns, and a satisfying conclusion. Many thanks to St. Martin's Press, Ms. Camilla Sten, and NetGalley, who provided me with an advanced reader copy of this fantastic novel. This is my honest opinion.

"On a remote, craggy island nestled off the coast of Sweden, four friends—Tilly, Anna, Linnea and Evelina—meet every year. Best friends since childhood, the idea is to drink beer, dance by the water, and shake off the weight of life's expectations. The location of the island is a secret to everyone but them."
Ten years later, people are still pondering the mystery of these girls' disappearance. With no trace or clues, they are presumed to have drowned. Tessa, a true crime addict with a failed and scandalous podcast, wants to pick up her ratings and solve their disappearance. When her best friend, Anneliese, asked her to go on a bachelorette trip on a remote island, she said yes to using her time to super sleuth.
So much about this trip has similar characteristics. Someone goes missing and bad vibes are branching slowly...so slow I had a hard time staying with it. The "wow" moment never came and the suspect reveal came too early on. Some authors are able to pull this off and still reel you in, but I couldn't recover. The author wrote "The Lost Village" and "The Resting Place" and I enjoyed them more.
If you enjoy a slow thrill mystery and the beauty of the atmosphere then you will enjoy this one. The cover is what had me reaching for this one and the locked-room mystery.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press/ Minotaur Books for this ARC in exchange for my review.

This fictional novel is a fast-paced thriller that takes place in a remote island where five women are meeting to celebrate a bachelorette party. The main character Tessa, who used to host her own true crime podcast, is hesitant on attending the party, but is also very curious to find out more about the murder that took place on the same island 10 years prior. This is a dual-timeline novel that interchanges between the current plot in 2022 and what happened in 2012. Overall, I felt that the book was an easy read and it did capture my attention such that I was able to finish the book in two days. The character development was not too complicated so about half way through the book, I had my hunch about who the antagonist was going to be; however, it did not deter me from finishing the book. If a reader is looking for a quick beach read, then this would certainly do the trick.

I am thankful for St. Martin's Press and NetGallery for giving me an opportunity to read an advanced reader version for an honest review.

A group of friends head to a remote island to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of one of the women. The island is infamous as years ago four women mysteriously disappeared without a trace. One of the women on the bachelorette trip is trying to resurrect her podcast career by trying to unearth new clues on the missing women.

Things quickly take a dark turn leaving these women wondering if they destined to disappear like the other women.

The pacing was slow, and unengaging. It takes more than half the book before anything happened to create suspense. The reader has to let go of the unbelievable to be invested in this ending. I’d say this book was missing just something to make it great rather than meh.

Thank you, Minotaur Books.

This was a quick read - fast paced, dual timeline.
It starts with a group of 4 friends on an island for the night, something they’ve done several times before. But this time, they don’t return home.

Now, ten years later, another group of friends find themselves on the same island to celebrate a bachelorette party.

We soon find connections between the past and present, but is it enough to finally solve the mystery or will history repeat itself?

There were a lot of characters that took a bit to keep them all straight. A lot of the twists were expected but it was an interesting story.

Tessa is a recently disgraced true crime podcast host who reluctantly agrees to attend her childhood friend's bachelorette party on a private island. But Tessa has an ulterior motive for attending--she suspects the island is the location where four women disappeared 10 years ago. As an added bonus, the owner of the private island is the sister of one of the missing women. Tessa hopes to connect with the sister and discover what really happened to the women 10 years ago, in order to re-launch her failed career. Sure, she will participate in sunrise yoga and drink enough cava to sink a boat, but she's also going to be the one to crack the disappearance she has been obsessed with for 10 years.

I have not read a book this suspenseful in a while. It took me back to my teenage days when I was obsessed with slasher movies. The Bachelorette Party has a little bit more graphic descriptions of violence that I am used to, but it really added to the suspense. Tessa is definitely an opportunist, but that was important to the story overall. The plot was fast paced and kept me hooked.

This book had its moments, but ultimately missed the mark for me. The story was engaging, and the plot never lagged, but the character work could have been better suited to consume the readers. I liked that the author utilized the past and current timelines to interconnect the storylines but there were so many characters mentioned and few of them had any significant character development. If more time had been spent giving us more insight into other characters I think the plot would've flowed better and shown another POV on the plot points. I am glad I read this book and would still recommend it to others!

This is an early dnf for me. I rarely dnf a book. The first part of the story left me wanting and had character confusion for me. Not enough was built into the characters to make them distinguishable. I went to the reviews and readers complained about shifting timelines. That’s a big pet peeve for me, so I dnf’d. I was hoping for more.

BIG THANKS to St. Martin's Press Minotaur Books for the approval to read this upcoming thriller!

This one hooked me in the Minotaur Sampler and I couldn't wait to read it. It lived up to the hype in my mind.
I couldn't help but feel for Tessa. She seems like a mess when the story opens and we find out it is due to something that happened in her life with her partner as well as something with her podcast. As these things are revealed it's easy to see why her life went down a rough patch.

I love when multi-timeline is used and this one was done very well! There is the 'current' timeline with The Bachelorette Party taking place on a remote island, and there is a 'past' timeline with the 4 girlfriends that are on their annual girls night trip to a remote island. No one knows or knew the location of the island they went to but Tessa thinks it is the same island they are going to for the bachelorette party. As she tries to uncover what may have happened there she finds that not everyone is being truthful or is who they seem to be.

This story was great for me until the conclusion. I definitely understand why each character behaved the way they did but some parts of the big reveal were not it for me. That didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the story though!

Tense and thrilling!

Camilla Sten’s **The Bachelorette Party** offers a gorgeous setting and brisk pace that initially pulled me in, and the setup of an idyllic girls’ trip gone wrong is undeniably engaging. However, the large cast of characters felt overwhelming, making it hard to connect with anyone in particular. The mystery itself grew so intricate that it started to bog down the “popcorn thriller” vibe I was hoping for. A well-written premise and strong atmosphere, but a leaner character list and a simpler puzzle would have made this a more satisfying read. Thank you to NetGalley and Minotaur books for the free digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

I received this ARC through #NetGalley from the publisher and author for my honest review (thank you!).

This book was extremely well-written, had a great storyline, and had me begging to know what happened. I loved the time jumps, and it was extremely helpful for the chapters to be labeled with which year you were reading about.

The main character was very likable and I loved the reveal at the end, wrapping everything up nicely. Highly recommend!

Y’all I have read a slew of Silly Thrillies lately - this was NOT one of them and I was reminded of how much I love a true thriller!

We’ve got ourselves a locked-room situation (isolated island, but same thing) as longtime friends gather to celebrate a bachelorette party. Our main character, Tessa, is a true crime podcaster whose podcast is in something of a downward spiral, so she opts to attend the bachelorette weekend in hopes of uncovering clues to the mysterious disappearance of four women from the very spot a decade prior.

What we then get is a very atmospheric and well-thought-out thriller that quickly shifts from happy-go-lucky to something much more sinister. We have shifting timelines revealing the story to us, and I could tell where things were going but not exactly how we’d end up there. For the most part I enjoyed the ride, minus the somewhat graphic violence that takes place in the back half of the book.

My heart was pounding as I read this and I binged it in a day, so it gets an enthusiastic 3.5 stars from me! If you’re looking for a thriller to kick off the summer, this one is a great choice!

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

This book gave serious The Guest List vibes. While it definitely had its own twists and turns, this book fell a bit short for me. I found myself losing interest quickly and not being captivated by the story line. The timeline of the story did not quite add up in my head. The setting of the story was excellent and the cover of the book is perfect.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I absolutely love a book that takes place on a secluded island, so I was excited to read this. I thought the book was a good thriller. I liked the dual timeline and found the book suspenseful. The book was also very entertaining and there was quite a bit going on.

This book has two timelines and takes place on a remote island off the coast of Sweden. Four best friends disappear from Isle Blind in 2012 and then 10 years later, another group of friends stay at an upscale yoga resort for one woman's bachelorette party. Tessa is there to support the bride-to-be, but is also hoping to find information on the missing group from a decade before in hopes of reviving her failed podcast. It becomes clear that everyone is keeping secrets and that everyone is in danger. Adding to the tension, the island has no Internet service and party guests are told to leave their cell phones locked up in the resort owner's office.

There is a large cast of characters in this book, some more likable than others, but I didn't have any problems keeping track of everyone. There are unexpected reveals about the characters and a few plot twists, some I guessed and some that surprised me. The ending is dramatic, suspenseful, and a little too gory for my taste. However, in spite of the violence that comes before them, somehow the final pages of the book have a hopeful tone. Overall, the storytelling is engaging, and I enjoyed the book, in spite of the grislier scenes.

I received an advance review copy of this ebook from Minotaur Books, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.
