pretty cool but there are a lot of chars who are hard to keep track of because they don't behave very differently. 3.5 stars. tysm for the arc.

Group of people where one of more end up murdered on an isolated island? Sold!
Tessa, a true crime podcast host, and her sister Lena are invited to a bachelorette party on an isolated island. Tessa is reluctant to go, however, the history of the island is what pushes her to go. Ten years ago, a group of friends disappeared from the same island and have been known as the Nacka Four ever since. Tessa sees this opportunity to investigate and try to solve the murders. The more Tessa digs into the case, the more she realizes her and her friends are in danger.
I've been excited about this book and it did not disappoint! The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat and was hard to put down.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for a honest review.

I've enjoyed all of of Camilla Sten's books, and The Lost Village is one of my favorite books. I loved how it blended thriller with horror, which is something I've come to expect with her books. The Bachelorette Party is purely thriller/suspense, though. I did enjoy it, but not as much as her other two books. I found this one to be a slow start with little to keep me interested until about halfway through. I expected something in the style of And Then There Were None, with the women getting picked off one by one. That wasn't the case.
I liked the blend of past and present, though I'm not sure it was needed? I also wish we'd gotten more of Carl's thought process and why he killed his fiancee AND BABY? That I can't wrap my mind around. It's like halfway through we forgot Matilda was pregnant. Carl wanted to keep his secret so bad, he didn't even think about his kid? And Irene went on this quest for vengeance without even thinking about her niece/nephew who was also killed? (I think she knew but it took me a while to get through the first half, so maybe she didn't.) Also we didn't get to see or really acknowledge the fact that Irene killed Carl (I assume). Adam was thrown is as only a red herring, which I don't think anyone was believing, anyway.
I enjoyed the twist of Carl being the killed. I didn't see that coming, but I wish it was executed differently. I am a mom myself, so when it comes to harm for babies or children, I have a hard time relating to the story anymore or emotionally connecting to it. I did like Tessa as a character and her messy backstory--that was pretty rough--but I think a lot of the elements in this book were disjointed for me. I'll look forward to the next book Camilla Sten puts out, but unfortunately this one is my least favorite so far.

The remote and isolated setting gave the story a creepy vibe and an intense feeling of unease from the outset.
Tessa and her sister Lena are invited to a bachelorette party on a remote island to celebrate their friend Annalise's upcoming wedding. Due to some ongoing life issues, Tessa is reluctant to attend. But the thought of reuniting with old high school friends as well as her obsession with true crime drives her curiosity about the island’s dark past making the event inviting and intriguing. You see, ten years ago a group of girls went missing in at this very location and have never been found. Would you go?
The island is accessible only by boat and when the boat leaves the only tie to civilization is a dinghy tied up on the shore. Cell phones and all other devices are confiscated by hotel owner Irene for the duration. After all the girls are here to enjoy each other without distraction. She assures them they are not completely cut off from the world , should help be needed, as there is a landline on the first floor.
Irene, built the island’s new hotel and is oddly enough the sister of one of the missing girls. Tessa, interest in true crime stems from her former role as a true crime podcaster. To Tessa this is the perfect opportunity to investigate and maybe even solve the ten year old mystery. As she digs deeper, the island's secrets start to unravel, and Tessa soon realizes that she and her friends have entered into a world of grave danger with absolutely no resources to protect themselves.
Author, Camilla Sten kept me guessing as to who was the evil one/s were by weaving together a twisted plot with unexpected turns. The twist will keep readers on the edge and one may find it difficult to put the book down.
I really like Tessa and pulled for her the entire time. She’s smart, clever and observant as she begins to put together the pieces of the mystery.
I highly recommend this spine-chilling must-read for fans of suspenseful story thrillers.

Wow. This story hooked me from the very beginning. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. What an exciting way to start a novel.
Tessa and her sister Lena are invited to a bachelorette party on a remote island to celebrate their friend Annalise's upcoming wedding. Although Tessa is hesitant to attend —struggling with her mental health and the thought of reuniting with old high school friends—her obsession with true crime drives her curiosity about the island’s dark past.
Ten years ago, a group of women vanished without a trace on this very island. Upon arrival, Tessa discovers the island’s new hotel is owned by the sister of one of the missing girls. Tessa, a former true crime podcaster, sees this as an opportunity to investigate and perhaps solve the mystery. As she digs deeper, the island's secrets start to unravel, and Tessa soon realizes that she and her friends are in grave danger.
The novel keeps you guessing with its intricate plot and unexpected twists. Each twist kept me on the edge of my seat, and I had a hard time putting the book down because I wanted to find out what would happen next.
I was rooting for Tessa the entire time. She is a smart, observant character who started to put together pieces of the mystery. Over the course of the novel she grew confident in herself and didn’t question her abilities as much. This was an excellent novel. I highly recommend it.

If you like suspenseful thrillers, this book is for you. The book toggles back and forth from 2012 and 2022. A group of four friends are murdered on a sucluded island in 2012. Fast forward to 2022 where a group of girl friends are on the same island celebrating the soon to be bride. What starts off as a fun and relaxing celebration turns into a nightmare. The book kept me on my toes. As things got closer to the climax I was able to figure out the 2022 killer. Thank you to NetGalley for advanced copy for my honest opinion.

I appreciate the advance but i did not care for this book. Duel timelines, gruesome deaths and unlikeable charecters.

The Bachelorette Party is a chilling, edge-of-your-seat thriller that blends true crime obsession with a gripping locked-room mystery. Camilla Sten crafts an eerie atmosphere, weaving past and present into a tale of long-buried secrets, paranoia, and revenge. The isolated island setting adds an extra layer of tension, making every shadow and whisper feel sinister. With well-drawn characters, a perfectly paced plot, and jaw-dropping twists, this book is impossible to put down.

The Bachelorette Party is the blood-soaked celebration of the year—RSVP at your own risk!
Right from the start, The Bachelorette Party throws readers into a labyrinth of secrets, suspense, and shocking twists. Camila Sten wastes no time setting the stage with a tangled web of mysteries—a decade-old missing persons case, a main character with a past shrouded in secrecy, and an entire guest list brimming with potential motives. I had no idea which thread would unravel first, but one thing was certain—I had to devour this book.
At the heart of the story is the haunting disappearance of four girls, a case as cold as it is perplexing. Sten’s signature style shines through in the way she slowly, methodically pulls the threads together. Just when I thought I had things figured out, the truth hit me like a sledgehammer. The connections? Twisted. The tension? Excruciating. The execution? Absolutely brilliant. Dark, gory, and disturbingly addictive—this book is the ultimate psychological thriller with a horror edge, and I LOVED every second of it.
But what truly sets The Bachelorette Party apart is its unrelenting grip. Even after the main mystery was solved, the intrigue didn’t let up. The final chapters were just as enthralling as the first, proving that Sten knows exactly how to keep readers on edge until the very last page.
A spine-chilling must-read for fans of Scream, And Then There Were None, and She Started It by Sian Gilbert. If you’re looking for a thriller that will leave you breathless—this is the one.

I've been on my fair share of bachelorette parties—so naturally, I was intrigued by The Bachelorette Party by Camilla Sten. A sleek yoga retreat on a mysterious Swedish island? A true crime podcaster sniffing around for answers? Yeah, sign me up.
That said, it was a rocky start for me. The shifting timelines and character jumps made it tough to get into at first. But once the plot settled and the secrets started unraveling, I was more invested. Sten knows how to build tension, and there were a few solid twists that kept me curious. Still, it didn’t quite reach the edge-of-your-seat level I was hoping for.
Overall, it’s a middle-of-the-road thriller—decent but not groundbreaking.
Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC.

this book was perfectly paced and had a great plot that kept me hooked literally on every single page. i really enjoyed the idea of a current friend group visiting the place of another friend group in the past and their suspicious deaths, and i like tessa would undoubtedly want to get to the bottom of it.
sadly though that is about all i can relate to with tessa and even her friends. they weren’t necessarily characters that wow me or that i can even say i liked at all. a lot of their “personality traits” seemed to be overdone/lowkey repetitive so it didnt make it very enjoyable to read about these characters, but i really did like the plot and how everything played out so its a win for me.
big thank you to netgalley and st martin’s press for access to this arc for my honest thoughts!!

Finished this ARC in one sitting. I liked the remote island setting and the multiple timelines. Some of the friendship conversations were trite and toxic but it does reflect real life well. I really liked the puzzle pieces that were left for you to assemble as the story unfolded. I want to check out some of the authors other books now.
Thanks to NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for the advanced copy!

This is a fascinating look at friendships and what women will do to keep their friends...or attempt to ruin them! It vacillates in time from 2012 to 2022 as it shows four friends on a bachelorette weekend on a beautiful Swedish island. In 2012 four women went missing and now in 2022 bride-to-be Anneliese is being celebrated with friends and among them is Tessa--podcaster of The Witching Hour who is there to investigate this 10-year-old case. But things get even dicier than they could have imagined as it appears there's still a killer on the loose!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

I enjoyed this book a lot, though I noticed a lot of mistakes and plot details that don’t necessarily make sense. Other than that, the premise was great and it was a really interesting read. It took me about 2 days to get through, and it only took that long because I was forced to put it down to go to class. Very riveting.

I can’t put my finger on what was missing but there was too much lapse in between the first girl going missing and then the rest of the drama. There was no need for the podcast storyline and there needed to be more details added for things happening on the island. This book was almost there.

Not my fav, but still a good thriller to curl up with. I lost interest for a bit, but kept reading to find out what was going to happen. I enjoyed the dual timelines, some depth to characters and twisty plot.
Every year 4 childhood friends meet on a Swedish island for a night of carefree fun until they mysteriously disappear. Flash forward 10 years and true crime podcaster Tessa is currently on a yoga retreat for her besties bachelorette when she realizes the island is shockingly a lot like the one the friends disappeared on. Tessa is determined to figure out what has been going on due to being intrigued by the case.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This is an absolutely gripping thriller that kept me hooked with every page. The suspense builds beautifully as Tessa returns to a remote island, where the mystery of four friends' disappearance continues to haunt her. The eerie atmosphere and the tension between past and present make for a compelling and intense read. Fans of dark, twisty thrillers will love this one! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC

This was a very entertaining read. I really enjoyed jumping between the timelines and learning about the two groups of friends. However, I would’ve liked to see a little more depth within their relationships because at times I wasn’t quite sure how the friend groups meshed beyond going on trips together. And while the culprit was a bit predictable, it was still a very satisfying read.

This is the kind of book I would usually prefer reading a paper copy of, because the timeline does a lot of back and forth jumping.
But this is a fast paced thriller that will keep you on your seat, wondering what’s going on and what will happen next.

This was a fun one! (Fun as in, it was a murder mystery with lots of gore, but still somehow ✨girly✨?!). I liked the setting a lotttt - a Swedish archipelago is a new one for me. It’s a classic “locked room” style mystery that was entertaining and had some fun twists. I have to admit I could see the unmasking of the real murderer a mile away, but I was pleasently surprised with how everything was wrapped up nicely in the end. Overall, recommend and will be picking up more from this author. This would make a great beach 🏖️ read!
