What could possibly go wrong when this cast of characters is somewhat "stranded" on a desolate island where potentially another murder had occurred about a decade ago. There is a dingy that has enough gas to get them to land if there is an emergency, as well as charters on call. Really all they have to do is relax and enjoy a yoga retreat bachelorette party for a couple of days - with no cell phones. Until one of them goes missing...
The story changes POV from the original group of friends who never returned home after their night away to the current group vacationing for the bachelorette party. There were a lot of names and I honestly kept getting confused on who belonged to which timeline. They were connected to each other and it got a little jumbled in my head sometimes. The convenience of the whole situation was a tiny bit annoying so this wasn't my favorite thriller. There were some good qualities and there were definitely unreliable characters to keep things interesting.

Thank you Net Galley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
Every year 4 friends go on a girls trip together. This year they are going to an island that nobody knows about. They are looking forward to dancing and drinking and catching up with each other and enjoying the time with their friend who is getting married. Irene who owns this property has other ideas. It gets very creepy and by the end it’s over the top. I would recommend this book it’s entertaining.

This super intense, dark, scary psychological suspense novel keeps the reader riveted until the finish and plays on the mind for a long while afterwards. The main character, Tessa, is reeling after her life and career implode, but she is ready to seize a second chance when an invitation to the bachelorette party of a friend brings her to the remote island where she's convinced that a party of women was murdered ten years ago. The point of view shifts between Tessa in the present day and Matilda, one of the doomed group of women from the past, a device that intensifies the suspense as the events leading up to the present situation gradually reveal the truth about what happened to Matilda and her friends and the mortal danger of the present-day bridal party. For readers that like their mysteries dark and scary, this is a good one, but be warned that the violence is fairly graphic.

Told in two alternating timelines, The Bachelorette Party follows the mysterious disappearance of four women during a weekend getaway. Years later, it’s an unsolved case that still haunts Tessa, especially after her own true crime podcast career falls apart. The book explores her lingering obsession with the case while she embarks on a getaway of her own, a bachelorette party for an old friend that just happens to be near where the four women disappeared years earlier.
I alternated between the audiobook and the physical copy, and parts of the story were definitely engaging. I appreciated the ethical commentary on true crime culture and thought the backstory of the main character added some emotional weight. That said, there weren’t many surprises, and much of the plot felt a bit too familiar - like a thriller I’ve read before.
It was…fine. I’d recommend this one for readers who enjoy a typical, easy-to-digest thriller and don’t mind a few predictable beats.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy. All opinions are entirely my own.

I’m a fan of Camilla Sten. Her books draw me in like few books can.
Tessa was a popular true crime podcaster until one of her episodes caused her to lose her job, closest friends, and reputation. She’s invited to be a bridesmaid by an old school friend who she hasn’t seen or talked to in a long time. The group goes to an island known for another group of four women, who had disappeared 10 years earlier. We had a lot of names to remember, and most of them also had nicknames.
There were many pros and cons to this book. The idea of it is so intriguing, and I’ll read just about anything that Camilla Sten publishes and has translated. Parts of this book bothered me, though.
A former crime podcaster acting like a bull and accusing one person of murder with no evidence? I don’t buy it. If you’ve spent time researching true crime cases, you know they are rarely to be taken at face value. It didn’t fit in with Tessa’s character.
Parts of this book dragged on. It got redundant and boring. However, Sten has a way with words that always keep me going.
The main female protagonist kind of sucked. She cared about herself and no one else. She couldn’t have cared less about her sister. It was all too much. I would rather have been in someone else’s head.
With all of the different characters, the ending didn’t go through each person’s whereabouts or situation. I got confused there.
I know that all seems like a lot of complaints, but I did enjoy this book overall.
I received this ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

This psychological thriller is about group of friends take their yearly trip to a small, deserted island owned by one of their fathers until one year when it all goes terribly wrong.
This book has dual timelines and dual PO. The locked room mystery vibes with multiple layers kept me reading. I enjoyed this book.

A cold case, a desperate quest for truth, and an unknown threat come together in The Bachelorette Party. This book has two mysteries in one, as we find out what happened to the group of friends who disappeared 10 years ago and what is happening to the friends on the island today. Full of surprises to the very end.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨✨ 4.5 stars
The opening was really strong and immediately had me going, “WTF?!”
I liked the interwoven stories between what happened on the Isle of Blind (the remote island off the coast of Sweden that serves as the book’s setting). I enjoy stories that jump between the past (whether recent or far) and the present.
There are some really well-written and cinematic thriller scenes. I gasped, went “oooo”, and was surprised by a part or two!
Although, admittedly, I was able to pick up on some clues and figure out a few things. I’ll avoid spoilers 🙃
This was an approximately 300 page thriller and I read it rather fast! Some of that was because I am on a new medication and dealing with some side effects that kept me up at night. But I definitely wanted to keep reading, too!
I liked the setting and the fact all the characters were from Sweden. I like peeks into other cultures and got a little of that here.
If you’re a fan of summer thrillers, I thought this was a great read. It reminded me of The Guest List, a thriller I quite enjoyed.
⚠️ If you have a wedding or bachelorette coming up, you may want to hold on this one. 😂
Thank you so much to the author, St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for early access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked it very much. The characters were written well. It was entertaining, I couldn't keep it down. Honestly, this was different from typical reads .

Camilla Sten delivers an atmospheric, slow-burning thriller that had me hooked from the first few pages. The Bachelorette Party explores the dark side of friendship, loyalty, and the secrets we try to bury—especially when you’re stuck in a remote cabin with people who know you too well.
The setting is perfectly claustrophobic, and the tension between the characters simmers beneath the surface before it boils over in shocking ways. I appreciated how Sten developed each character’s backstory and motivations, making even the most questionable decisions feel grounded.
While the pacing dips slightly in the middle, the final third completely delivers on suspense and payoff. This is the kind of thriller that stays with you—not just because of the twists, but because of the emotional undercurrents and raw portrayals of complicated female friendships.
A solid, satisfying read for fans of Lucy Foley, Ruth Ware, or anyone who loves a thriller with depth and atmosphere.
Thank you to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

What a fun story. Great characters and loved the mystery. Really well written. What a story of friendship, loved Tessa’s storyline searching for the truth.

This book is told from a past tragedy and the present day. In the past, four long time collage friends meet yearly at a remote island off the coast of Sweden for a night of drinking and laughter. But one year they never return home, nor are they ever found. Present day, Annalise is planning her Bachelorette party with her best friend, podcaster Tessa. Annalise wants to have it on a small island and unknowingly plans it on the same island that ten years ago the four women disappeared from. Tessa immediately is obsessed with the idea as she remembers hearing about the disappearances and vows to solve the mystery, but will fate claim it’s next victims?

Tessa gets invited to a bachelorette party on Isle Blind and decides to go, more to research an old case for her true crime podcast than to attend the party. Once there, she starts trying to piece together what happened 10 years ago, when four friends disappeared in a supposed accident. But as Tessa investigates, things take a sinister turn.
I thought this book was fine. The characters were all mildly annoying to me, and Tessa was always so sure she knew everything (despite often being wrong), that I didn’t find her very redeeming as a main character.
The actual plot was good, although the big reveal didn’t really do much for me by the time I got there.
I liked this one fine, but I have enjoyed some of Sten’s other books more.

The gorgeous cover of this book would make me pluck it right off a bookstore shelf. Un upcoming wedding. Sweden. Private island retreat. Girls trip. What could go wrong, right? I really liked the premise of this book, with dual timelines just 10 years apart. 10 years is not too long for people to forget or for secrets to remain buried. But, somehow I never really connected with the characters. Maybe there were too many of them. Maybe they just weren't relatable to me. I felt sorry for their experience but somehow didn't end up caring what happened to them. And whatever happened to Carl? I feel like he was the elephant in the room that never got addressed even in the end.
Overall, it was a quick entertaining read. Good to pass the time, but not particularly memorable.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press | Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Thank you to netgalley for the arc. The beginning had me like “what???!!” But then it fell a little flat for me. Overall it was a good read.

I really liked the first two books I read by this Swedish phenom, most especially the sense of place they so fully evoked for me. Still true...just no longer novel; talk about a victim of her own success...! It's also the case that this plot, girl-group grows up hiding secrets worth killing for, does not compel me as much as it once did.
“Sometimes there’s no such thing as okay. Sometimes all there is, is good enough.” It's prophetic that this line is in this book.
Minotaur Books wants $28.00 for a hardcover. I say use the library.

Thank you NetGalley, Minotaur, St. Martin's and the author for the arc!
I really thought I would enjoy this one … I’m such a sucker for the “stranded on an island with a killer” trope. But sigh.
The opener and the setting was “wham bam whoa!! … but that’s where it stopped for me. The rest of the book, I just couldn’t connect with. It sorta dragged, I didn’t like any of the characters & the whodunnit wasn’t much of a mystery, with no great twist or shocker.
I think the premise was there … but in my opinion, the execution just never took off. But hey, give it a go & decide for yourself! I’m sure a lot of readers may really enjoy this little popcorn thriller … unfortunately it was a miss for me.

I truly enjoyed reading this book! I had no idea where the book was going. It definitely kept me guessing!

I so wanted to love this book but I just found it so hard to get into. It took me forever to read because I just wasn't "pulled in". I finally started reading it and enjoying about 3/4 of the way in. It was good to get to end and just have all the loose ends tied up. Overall, decent read but just kinda drags in the beginning.

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Did I love the book? No.
Did I hate the book? No.
Do I feel like that the execution of the story was missing? Yes
Were there great parts? Yes
I think it was the characters. There were so many of them and I felt like I couldn't get to know the ones that I really wanted to know because the others were developed so well. I felt lost at times during the book. The ending was okay but, was missing something that a normal thriller gives.
I will read Camilla Sten again in the future though because that woman has a mind of all minds.
