Not my usual genre but once I started this book I couldn’t put it down. A great reminder of the impact our actions and words can have on the people in our lives - intentional or not.

The story is great, fast paced and action packed. The characters are so relatable you can really feel the connection between them.

I will continue to read anything Julie Soto writes.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire book because at no point did I fully know where it was going to take me. I could not put this down. Full of suspense, secrets, freak accidents, and possibly a ghost haunting a group of best friends, I was hooked. I adore mysteries and unraveling a crime and this gave me all of that with twists and multiple plot lines to misdirect my theories of what actually happened to Emily.

A story to ask yourself do I really know my best friends as well as I think I do and at the core figuring out who and what is worth your silence and your truth. Discovering that you are enough and your friendships should never make you doubt yourself. That sometimes you have to take a step back from the people you prioritize to discover what is worth your time and energy. That finding what makes you happy and feel safe outside of your friendships and family relationships is paramount to growing up and becoming your own person.

This is absolutely a MUST read book…I honestly devoured it in 48hrs! The twists just kept coming and I could not put it down until I knew everything! The “Thrashers” are the popular group everyone wants to join but also the individuals you secretly love to see fall from grace. The characters are perfection…multi-layered, full of surprises, and the definition of morally grey. My only warning to you is that you only think you know who to trust! Julie Soto has quickly become one of my favorite authors!
I am extremely grateful to NetGalley and St.Martin’s Press for the opportunity to review this advanced copy!

Oh. My. Gosh.

Julie Soto has done it again. She has written ANOTHER book that I was unable to put down and am utterly obsessed with! I finished this in like 4 hours. Just absolutely devoured it.

There was so much I was not expecting and it was all amazing. There were so many turns I was not expecting and the book just kept drawing me in more and more.

I also loved Julian, Jodi and Paige! Lucy and Zack rubbed me the wrong way a lot.

It was also so cool recognizing the places in the book as it is set in my hometown. Sacramento is such a rare book setting (at least for me) and I loved that I knew exactly where the characters were and could actually picture where things were taking place.

And that epilogue!
Please, please, please give us a book 2! I beg of you Julie!

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This book was so good and addictive. I had a hard time putting it down for anything. Julie Soto can do no wrong. I love her romances and I loved this YA thriller. It was kind of a mix of 13 Reasons Why and Pretty Little Liars. The paranormal aspect made it even more intriguing. That ending was pretty crazy. I can't wait to see what Julie does next.

The Thrashers remind me of pretty little liars meets thirteen reasons why. A fun high school YA thriller with a side of romance and paranormal activity. The main character Jodi is very likable and relatable, while the rest of her friends are a bit more questionable. After the death of Emily, who killed herself on prom night, raises questions as to whether bullying contributed to her suicide, “The Thrashers” as they are called have to defend their friend group, Did they really “bully” her death or was she actually just a creepy stalker? when the romance aspect is introduced you want to root for them so badly but he’s lowkey a horrible person, but it seems he might have some redeeming qualities and I’m hoping if there’s a sequel we are being set up to see some character growth. Overall this book was really fun, lots of mystery, and some fun paranormal activity that I wasn’t expecting at all

High school-set mysteries are one of my favorite thriller tropes, so I was super excited to get an ARC of The Thrashers. (Also. How good is this cover?) As other reviewers noted, the supernatural element is a bit unexpected. I still can't decide if I liked it or not.

The book does a solid job of digging into the nuances of that age group, though some of the characters felt a bit stereotypical. Admittedly, I'm probably (definitely) not the demographic the author intended, so that might not bother younger readers.

a hot new bombshell has entered the villa & it’s the thrashers! oh my god this was so so good. right off the bat, the prologue hooks you. i genuinely could not put this down - i read until my eyes were closing and the text looked like alien symbols & then i woke up early this morning to finish.

obsessed with a good ya thriller about rich, cliquey kids and julie soto delivered on that front. the mystery was very well done & i was genuinely scared reading this last night. even though i predicted a few things, it still kept me on my toes and left me needing to keep going.

the mix of supernatural/paranormal & real life mysteries was super fun to read about - it left me trusting no one’s judgement whatsoever and i loved it.

ALSO: there was an unexpected (but very welcome and VERY well done) relationship between two characters that had me actually screaming & pacing the room. ate it up and cleared the plate.

this is perfect for fans of karen mcmanus, holly jackson, and jessica goodman.

I loved it it was a the perfect combination of 13 Reasons Why and One of Us is Lying vibes. I was on the edge of my seat for most of this book. I didn't want to put it down, because I needed to know what was coming next.

Loved Jodi's growth throughout the book. I loved getting to know more of the Thrashers and the dynamic between each person. And finding out the truth behind it all.

I hope Soto has more of these type of books up her sleeves, because I will eat them up.

Fast paced and suspenseful, this book roped me in the second I started it; I finished this book is a sitting, truly it was impossible to put down. The pacing was great, the plot kept me guessing, my only complaint is that I just did not like the ending. This book really explored the way teenagers handle friendships, the struggle to fit in, and how hard it feels to be a teen. I wasn’t expecting this from Soto, but I’m glad I picked it up.

What a way to make an entrance into the world of YA!! Julie Soto, I'll read anything you write but oh this was FUN. As Jodi tries to unravel both the truth from the lies & the paranormal from the reality - we as readers watch the friend group known as the Thrashers unravel in the wake of their classmate's suicide. Cue alllll the angst and allllll the twists and turns. I never really knew who to believe or trust, and after that ending, I'm not even sure I trust where I settled. We're just getting started....

Thank you to St Martin's Press / Wednesday Books for the opportunity to inhale this gem & provide my honest review. Everyone put this on your TBR for May 6th!!!

I have read Julie's romance books before and really enjoyed her writing style so I was very excited to get my hands on this!

The Thrashers by Julie Soto is a page turning YA mystery. It gave me Veronica Mars x Pretty Little Liars vibes and I'm not mad about it. I did not expect there to be so many supernatural/paranormal aspects but I actually loved that a lot. It was refreshing to see the female protagonist, Jodi coming to realization and admitting that she too is flawed and just as cruel as the rest of the Thrashers.

And omg the epilogue!! Can't wait to see how Julie continues this storyline!!

Thank you St. Martin's Press and Wednesday Books for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!<3

This wasn’t what I was expecting. It was a lot more paranormal and a lot less romance than I thought it was going to be. I was 50/50 on it at first, but now that it’s over, I need a sequel. Especially with that epilogue and the ending to the small romance? I want more.

I devoured this! If I hadn’t of had to stop reading to go to work I would’ve read it in one sitting.

This blew me away. I had such a fun time trying to keep track of everything and figure out what exactly happened. The ghostly elements were a surprise but done well. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat for so much of this book!

I think this was a great YA debut. I can’t wait to read more from Julie! I’m glad this didn’t end on a cliffhanger but I wouldn’t mind seeing a continuation of this story.

One thing about me is I don’t normally read thrillers but this book right here may have converted me. There is something so addictive about how Julie Soto writes that I quite literally couldn’t put it down. I’ve been a fan of her writing for quite some time now and am completely unsurprised that she has written something so well yet again. If you’re looking for thrills, deception, teen angst, and maybe a few visits from spirits this is the book for you!

I am so in love with this book! Soto’s first thriller delivers! The characters are well developed and I loved/hated them all. The twists were amazing and were not seen coming. If you enjoyed Holly Jackson’s How to get away with murder you will love this.
Jodi and her four friends are called the Thrashers. Zach Thrasher is the rich handsome boy who everyone wants leads the group. Jodi feels like the ugly sidekick but just wants to orbit Zach until a friend of the group commits suicide and the group starts being investigated. Strange things start to happen and secrets unfold. This is a 5 star read and I want more!

Wow, hello!!! An ARC by Julie Soto??? My jaw-dropped. Thank you SO much St. Martin's Press for giving me the delight to read this early copy and review it. I have been a fan of Julie Soto since her Lovesbitca8 days, so this means so much to me. I absolutely adore her adult romance novels, so I was very excited to see she was branching out into a different genre. This did not disappoint and I will continue to absolutely devour everything and anything she writes.

This book had everything: complex characters, an insane plot, and crazy twists that kept me hooked. I loved unraveling the mystery alongside Jodi, it felt like I was at the edge of my seat the entire time. The fact that I read this in one sitting this morning and could not put it down speaks volumes! AMAZING!

Finished this in one sitting staying up way too late when I have to work early. Julie’s writing always has me hooked from the beginning. I was a little worried because I haven’t read YA in a few years but this really made me feel nostalgic. Felt like I was reading back in high school and I mean that in the best way. The story really gripped me and I was so eager to find out what was happening. Gave me a little bit of Gone Girl vibes and I loved it

Julie Soto is an author whose work I will read no matter what genre it is, because she delivers fresh material you’ll fall in love with every.single.time. When I saw that she wrote a YA thriller reminiscent of Veronica Mars, a cult teen show that defined my entire youth, I knew it was something I needed to read immediately.

Jodi’s a girl who feels like she doesn’t quite fit in, but with a best friend who’s the most popular person in the entire school, that feeling is easy to ignore. Zack Thrasher is a guy everyone wants in their life, whether that be as a boyfriend, a best friend, a lab partner-holding Zack’s attention is a coveted feeling, and Jodi’s lucky enough to be his favorite person. Existing in the orbit of The Thrashers- a moniker outsiders gave Zack, Jodi, and the rest of their friend group- is a magical feeling that most will do anything to have. Until Emily Mills, someone who so desperately wants to be one of them, suddenly dies, leaving behind whispers and accusations that has everyone wondering exactly what the Thrashers will do to those they don’t deem worthy.

I loved the mystery of this book beyond words! Julie created an incredibly unique storyline that managed to have me second guessing what I knew and wondering who I really should be rooting for. The story drew me in so much that I HAD to read it in one sitting! There were elements of the story that I did not see coming, and I really enjoyed being kept on my toes. Getting to know each of the Thrashers, their fears, their hopes, and their secrets really has me hoping we get to return to this world in the future.

firstly, thank you so so much to the publisher for an arc!💗

if you know me, you know that julie soto is an autobuy author because i have absolutely adored her fanfic on ao3 since 2019/2020 — her fanfic helped me get through the dark times that were covid.

while i enjoyed her adult romances, her ya debut has absolutely blown me away in every possible way — the characters, the plot, the writing, and the psychological mind-fuck were all absolutely phenomenal. i had a fantastic time piecing together the timeline alongside our fmc jodi dillion.

the thrashers takes place a few months after emily mills commits suicide, and “the thrashers” — a popular friend group of five — are the key suspects and labelled emily’s former bullies, but as evidence is unravelled and discovered for the court case, jodi learns that both her friends and emily’s journal are not as truthful as she was lead to believe…

i tore through this and stared at my kindle like “where’s the rest?!” i have a feeling we may return with the way the epilogue shared some new information…
