Hidden Nature by Nora Roberts. As with all of Ms Roberts books, the story was well written, researched and had well developed characters. The story it self was slow paced and there seemed to be an overabundance of the home improvement aspect. A good read but not a favorite from Ms Roberts

Thank you to the author, St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Unsurprisingly I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I loved the story. It felt like a classic Nora Roberts with the fun added twist of getting insight into the perpetrators alongside our main characters. It’s always super fun to see how human she makes all the characters, regardless of who they are, and these were all great. I love the close family dynamics, the adopting of those without family into the family, and just generally loved the MMC and FMC. The story itself was paced really well; I love how she writes the passage of time. It goes by quickly but without being too quick. It’s truly a skill. It was an easy, quick enjoyable read!

Hidden Nature is Nora Roberts newest stand-alone novel that will leave you feeling like you just stepped off the craziest, white-knuckled psychological thrill ride.

Sloane Cooper, a Natural Resources police officer, was living her best life in Annapolis, when the unthinkable happened when she ran into a convenience store. Thank goodness that her work partner had her back and got her the medical attention that she desperately needed.

After her harrowing experience, she recuperated in her parents’ house near Mirror Lake in a small town about 4 hours from her apartment and life.

As she struggled to rehab back as close as she could to being who she was, she settled back into her hometown’s small town lifestyle, where everyone lived in each other’s pockets. To include the handsome new neighbors.

To take her mind of the trauma and boredom of her recovery, she caught sight of news coverage of the mysterious disappearance of a young lady from a nearby grocery store. This was what set Sloane off on an investigative journey (off the books, of course) that would lead her to be hot on the trail of the warped perps who have been randomly taking people off of the streets.

Will she or the local PD catch them before more go missing? Will she and her loved ones stay safe? Who can she truly trust?

Thank you SO much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this fabulous and unputdownable ARC!!

Nora Roberts is one of my favorites. Hidden Nature was way to weird for me. I truly liked the characters and the story line. I absolutely hated the serial killer part and the blood. I mean seriously, do you know how many blood born diseases there are, and these people put it in their food. If all Nora's books were like this I would not read another one. Way to out there for me.

Absolutely loved this book so many different dynamics the love of family, friends, and reluctant romance with some action right out of the gate. Sloan is so strong with so much tenacity I love the relationship with her sister and how different Nash and Theo's upbringing were and how much love they have in spite of it. This book is about new beginnings, strength, and love it is such I heart rending and beautiful book I loved it Nora Roberts never disappoints.

I did feel it became a bit repetitive, and I think it could have been shaved down in length without losing any impact. So many pages spent on descriptions of home improvements, but only a few on the actual climax of the book, which was disappointing. Still a good read, though.

Sloan Cooper, a Natural Resources police officer, moves back to her parents home in quiet Heron's Rest to recover from being shot while off duty. Not being one to sit still, Sloan learns of a missing woman who disappeared out of thin air and she can't shake the niggling feeling, telling her there was something more to this story than what meets the eye. Nash, the handsome new neighbor and his brother are launching their business in the construction world, lives just a short walk away and spots Sloan for the first time on a walk, moving slow and clearly recovering from something. His interest piqued, he discovers he wants to learn more about her after a couple of conversations. This isn't what either Sloan or Nash were looking for, but the attraction and friendship that blooms is unavoidable. Not only that, but Sloan feels comfortable to let Nash in on her innermost thoughts surrounding the case and finds that he is a great sounding board. As with most of Nora Roberts books, this story is filled with excitement and suspense, intrigue and passion, and of course, romance sprinkled throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Let me start by saying if I could give it 10 stars I would.

I say this all the time so forgive me BUT…

Nora Roberts is the QUEEN for a reason. I LOVED this. As soon as I started it was like coming home. This was just awesome. It had action, family…oh this family. As always the dialogue is lyrical. The way she writes is pure magic. It’s a flow like no other. Then the suspense part kicks in…yikes it was twisted. It was just what I didn’t know I needed. Yes, epic characters, great story and love. All kinds of love…family, friends, romance. I read it in record time and I am so sad I’m done.

Good thing I’m listening to an Eve & Roarke to get me over my sad.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns of this story. It starts with a bang, as Sloan, the main character is shot in the line of duty. Roberts portrays her road to recovery with surprising accuracy and believability (I often get annoyed when characters "bounce back" from major injuries with accidentally supernatural speed, simply on account of the laziness or inexperience of the author). The slow burn practical romance between Sloan and Nash is balanced in a fun way with the over the top speed and sweetness of her sister and his brother's romance. I enjoyed that contrast. And as for the villains: creepy as heck, and truly evil. I definitely hoped they'd both bite it in the end. The end is the only thing I didn't love about this excellently written tale; the showdown felt a little rushed, though was still ultimately satisfying. A really great read overall from the dependably solid Nora Roberts.

4.5 stars.

This was a nice change from other recent Roberts books. The story of Sloane and her journey after being shot. Had a little romance, little murder and lots of suspense. I recommend this book if you want a read that's suspenseful but not too much. Thanks NetGalley for the advanced copy. #HiddenNature #NetGalley

Another beautiful story by Nora Roberts! If you love small town romance, female cop falls in love with the guy who can do anything, and don't mind coming out on the other side wanting to renovate your house and start a garden you will adore this book.

Nora Roberts, as usual, creates a beautiful background for a story of romantic suspense. Sloan is a natural resources officer who comes back home after being shot in a convenience store. As she finds peace and crocheting, living around her family again, she decides to stay. She buys a fixer-upper and that is where she meets Nash Littlefield and his brother who have shed their high paying careers to become The Fixit Brothers. That part was nice, but the mystery was what really pulled me in. A couple who think their dastardly actions are dictated by God, have their eye on Sloan. She has something they really want. A story to tell and they'll do anything to get it. Great page-turner!

I obtained my copy of Hidden Nature through Net Galley. Thank you!

People are disappearing and there seems to be no connection between the victims, different ages, different sexes. Can they find the culprits before more people disappear. This book is a suspense along with romances. Great characters and a compelling story will capture you and make you keep turning the pages. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I love Nora Roberts! She can write romance, home improvement and mystery all rolled into one. This book has all of these and more. The visual image she gives you as she writes almost alarming in this mystery. Great book!!

This was a wonderfully written novel. How Nora Roberts is still able to come up with new mysteries and suspenses is amazing. The plot was a little predictable, I knew what they final show down between of FMC and the bad guy would be as soon as the villain was introduced. But that did not detract my enjoyment of the book at all. IT was definitely a slow burn and a little instant lovey but again these di d not hurt the well developed plot or enjoyment. I am also unsure about how the cover fits it. It does not seem to tie into the story at all.

Nora Roberts edges closer to JD Robb than ever before (excluding the crossover New York to Dallas novel) in Hidden Nature. While not set in the future, Hidden Nature sets a Natural Resources Patrolwoman up against a serial killer draining people's bodies and drinking the victim's blood. While Roberts comes through with great character development, I felt myself just skimming the "bad guy" chapters as they were mostly just repetitive paragraphs of the same information/motives. A fine read if you're a Nora Roberts fan, but not one I'd suggest to a new-to-this-author patron.

An action-packed mystery with a strong, determined heroine at its core. Natural Resources police officer Sloan Cooper is bouncing back from a near-death experience, only to find herself drawn into a chilling investigation as she pieces together a series of disappearances. With a touch of romance, compelling twists, and a richly atmospheric setting in the Western Maryland mountains, this book keeps you hooked until the very last page. Nora Roberts hits it out of the park again!

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and author Nora Roberts for the opportunity to review this advance copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

Nora Roberts has a deft hand at writing stories that combine many different genres. Hidden Nature has romance, thriller and suspense all wrapped up into one plot. While I did enjoy reading about Sloan and Nash, the middle of the story slowed down and I found myself not picking this up as often as I normally do. The side plot of the serial killers was haunting and will stick with me.
