The plot is really weird. The characters are even weirder. I wouldn’t say they’re 25 years old—based on their behavior, they seem more like high school kids. At the beginning of the book, I honestly wanted to stop reading because the main character seemed so irrational.
After finishing the book, I was left wondering—why didn’t the police question anyone after the murders? I mean, someone was killed in your group, and everyone just casually went on a countryside trip?
And then there’s the way people are described: “white,” “white straight guy,” “Asian.” Why not actually describe their appearance—skin tone, features, anything? I can’t tell if these are just the thoughts of the main delulu character, or if the author always describes people like this in all their books.
Overall, I’d give it a 4 out of 10

So Happy Together by Olivia Worley is a book about a female stalker.
For Jane, finding love in New York is even harder then making it as a playwright. So when Jane meets Colin, a software engineer she becomes obsessed with him.
Colin breaks off their relationship after 6 dates, but Jane thinks this is just a small hurdle. but then Colin starts dating Zoe, a social media influencer, Jane knows she is a better match for Colin then Zoe, she just has to prove it. But when Jane sneaks into Colin's apparent she makes a discovery, one that involves them all in a web of secrets, lies and murder.
I liked the overall idea of story but found it hard to read, there seemed to be a lot of random characters and side quests that do not add to the story. It's a fun read but hard to sort out at times.
Thank you Olivia for working with NetGalley. I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
This book will hit stores June 3rd 2025

If you had told me this book was written by Freida McFadden I would have believed you. Honestly, it was an entertaining enough psychological thriller, and fans of the genre will enjoy it. People who aren’t fans of Freida McFadden-eque twists and turns… probably won’t enjoy this any more than they enjoy her books.
Jane is a girl who obsesses over Colin, a guy she had a short relationship with, and plots to get him back and make him realize he’s in love with her. She befriends his new girlfriend Zoe but together they uncover parts of his past he’d rather keep hidden…
There’s really nothing that stands out too much as making this book very bad or very good. It was a fairly average thriller which wasn’t too hard to read through, and the plot throws in enough twists that it doesn’t drag too much. The writing was clean and if I ever needed an easy diversion I’d be happy to pick up another book by this author.

The description for So Happy Together drew me right in and I could not put this down. It’s an easy, fast read that hooked me from the beginning. The writing is good and the story is engaging. It was on its way to being 4-star but the story was just a little too far fetched at the end. I still recommend it for anyone looking for a solid, fast, entertaining story.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Minotaur Books for the ARC! All opinions are my own.
Jane’s recently been dumped by Colin, claiming they were moving too fast. But Jane’s convinced they’re meant to be, so if that means she’s finding any way to put herself in his orbit again…no big deal, right? But there’s one hitch in her plans: Zoe, his new girlfriend.
However, the hitch in her plans turns out to be the perfect in. Zoe’s intention of striking a friendship with Jane pulls her back into Colin’s life. And sure, she’s being a little stalker-y, making copies of his apartment keys and going over there when no one’s home…but it’s for the greater good of their relationship. At least that’s what Jane believes.
It’s only when she discovers something that implies Colin may have some skeletons in his closet that Jane is forced to reckon with the version of Colin she thinks she knows, and the very real, very flawed version that she doesn’t know if she can accept.
I got a chance to read Worley’s last book thanks to NetGalley, and I’m glad I got to read her latest! I don’t read much new adult fiction, but I loved Olivia’s last book, so I wanted to give her latest a try. Needless to say, I devoured it in less than eight hours.
This book, unlike “The Debutantes”, features a single protagonist, and the book is solely in her POV. It takes place in NYC, and focuses on young twenty somethings dealing with the newness of adult life. What I really enjoyed was that the book had an excellent pacing. It never felt like the story dragged, and I was interested and invested every step of the way.
The comparison to “You” was accurate, because Jane reminded me of Joe from time to time. And just like Joe, our protagonist attempts to convince us (and herself) that the object of her affections is not a flawed person, not really. But we see the way she eventually has to contend with the truth behind the person she loves, and how she chooses to act on it.
I loved this book to its’ final pages, and I cannot recommend it enough!

I received an ARC of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley in exchange for my honest feedback.
The book's premise and twists were quite unique. Ms. Worley definitely gets points for something new and exciting. It kept my interest throughout; the writing was catchy and entertaining.
Jane is a bit unbelievable. Or maybe I just prefer to think there is no one really like her. It is sad to fixate on someone so thoroughly after just 6 dates.
I was expecting something twisty near the end but didn't predict exactly what it was.
I enjoyed the NYC setting, as I am pretty familiar with the area, and I always like being able to truly understand aspects of a setting. Examples - when Jane goes on the subway 3 times and it's an "MTA nightmare" - Colin paying at least $2000 for his share of apartment rent - Brooklyn thrifting not exactly being cheap.
Ms. Worley always does justice to pop culture references, as well.

This book had my brain doing flip flops trying to figure out who was off their rocker the entire time. Do I want Jane and Collin together? Do I want Zoe and Collin together? Do I want Zoe and Jane to be besties? I kinda was second guessing my opinion on the relationships between the characters the whole entire book until the last chapter. This book was a really fun time. I will be recommending it to my reader besties.

4.5⭐️
Jamie. Girl. There's a fine line between manifestation and delusion and I think you tripped over that line a long time ago.
That being said, I loved how unreliable everyone in this book was. Between Single White Female vibes, a frank examination of the toxic dating scene and ghosting, blatant gaslighting and some dark family history, this had me absolutely hooked. Jamie was so over the top with her devotion to Colin that it made me viscerally uncomfortable and all that much more invested in the narrative. The fact that Jamie was all in for Colin after only six dates even though he's given her no reason to be lead to a wild ride.
I also loved the blooming friendship between Jamie and Zoe. Even though they were both using each other for different reasons, it felt like they were actually becoming friends. I think the build up of their friendship made the art show that much more shocking. The ending being slightly ambiguous was a great touch!
Thanks Netgalley and Minotaur Books for providing this ARC to me!

"So Happy Together" by Olivia Worley is a mystery thriller about an obsessive ex-girlfriend.
Thank you St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books for the advance reader copy via Netgalley.
Opinions from this review are completely my own.
Jane and Colin dated a short while, but she did not get over him.
When she sees his with his new girlfriend Zoe, she befriends her to get close to Colin.
The start of the book was a bit slow, but the action got more interesting after a while.
There are a few twists that I did not see coming and the ending was also unexpected.
The story is told from Jane's perspective and she is an unreliable narrator, which made the story more intriguing.
Also, Zoe is a interesting character. You can never know if she is lying or telling the truth.
Overall this was a quick, interesting read.

This was a confusing story to follow. I feel like the characters were very unlikable, and not in the unreliable narrator type of way. I just didn't feel like I could connect with this book and it felt like I was struggling to keep the story straight. There was some potential here, but in the end it wasn't for me.

I went back and forth on this one, and by the end, I was ready for it to be over. Not that it wasn't entertaining - it was - it just got tiresome for my after a while. I didn't find one character that I could relate to, who was likable, who I was rooting for. That's not necessary for me to have to like a book, but it certainly helps.
I liked the cover of conversation hearts - it was striking - but I still don't understand how it related to the story.
There was a whole lot of crazy, a twist or two that was halfway interesting, and a whole lot of twenty-something moaning about relationships and parents. Pretty much par for the course.
This will have a pretty big market, and a lot of folks will really identify with the story -- it was harder for me to do that.
I received a complimentary copy of the novel from the publisher and NetGalley, and my review is being left freely.

This was such a unique and intriguing book. It’s dark and twisty and unlike anything I’ve read before. It’s not my typical genre, but I’m glad I had a chance to read this.
Jane is a playwright in New York. She went on a few dates with Colin, but he since broke things off and is now dating Zoe. Jane is a little unhinged and she is obsessive about Colin. She befriends Zoe so she can observe their relationship up close.
Jane is unlikeable and you want her to make other choices, but that’s the charm of the book. Colin is also morally gray and it’s interesting to see how these characters mesh. Zoe seems sweet and you wonder how she’ll fare in all of this drama. You do need to suspend your disbelief and just go along with it. It’s a little far fetched, but it is a ton of fun to read. It falls into “guilty-pleasure” territory.
I highly recommend this book if you’re okay with the content. There’s a few trigger warnings, and it’s a bit unbelievable, but it is a ton of fun to read.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!! The thoughts, however, are my own.

I effing loved this book...Jane went on six dates with Colin and has steadily convinced herself he is the love of her life. Then he breaks up with her and she catches him dating someone else, the effortless Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy-esque Zoe. She inserts herself into their lives hoping to make Colin realize they're in LOVE only to realize she may be never knew him at all, Zoe might be the friend she never had, AND MAYBE Colin is a murderer? Is Jane actually crazy?? Is Zoe as calm cool and collected as she says???

Straight from page one it is clear Jane is bats#!t crazy. If you're a millennial she's giving this....

iykyk. Due to that I was not sure I would l like this book because I struggle if there is not a character to love....But I ended up LOVING Jane and Zoe. They really turned into a dynamic duo (under false pretenses). I LOVE an unreliable narrator, and honestly everyone involved in this book is unreliable. They are sneaky, they are shady, they are liars, and I LOVE THEM. And the twists that start flying out at the end are SO GOOD. Just nonstop reveals and shock.

Olivia plz somehow turn this into a series....

So Happy Together had me hooked at first—the premise is wild, and the comparisons to You and Promising Young Woman definitely deliver on the dark, obsessive energy. The twists come fast and hard, which kept the pages turning... but honestly, maybe a few too many twists. By the end, I was more confused than shocked.
And then there's Jane. I get that she's supposed to be unhinged, but wow, she was hard to root for. Her obsession with Colin crossed so many lines, and instead of feeling complex, she just came off as delusional and grating. I never quite bought into the whole “Jane and Colin are soulmates” idea—especially when Colin himself clearly doesn’t see it.
Still, if you're into twisty thrillers with messy love and even messier secrets, this might be your thing. Just be prepared to suspend a lot of disbelief—and maybe yell at Jane a few times along the way.

This book was weird. It was about disillusionment and the confusing confines of love. It goes to a dark and strange place and combined that with self discovery elements. It was not really for me but I could see what the author was trying to do.

First we meet Jane who you just know is a little off her rocker and stalking someone she dated 6 times! (Girl!) Then we meet Colin and hear him come across as short tempered and angry. You start to wonder who is more crazy, Colin or Jane! Throw Zoe into the mix and this is a book of characters, literally! While the book was slow to start, I did get pulled in and just wanted to know what was going on. Liked the ending and twists and turns but, come on, who would really be like Jane?! 4 stars for lack of being able to believe in someone like Jane. As always a big thank you to @netgalley for another great ARC! This would be a great vacation or beach read!

Olivia Worley delivers a sharp, twisty thriller about obsession, delusion, and the lies we tell ourselves in the name of love. Jane, an unhinged and irresistible narrator, is convinced her six-date ex is her soulmate—and nothing, not even his new influencer girlfriend, will stop her.
Worley’s writing is fast-paced and darkly funny, with Jane’s unreliable voice pulling you in deep. The twists come hard and fast in the final act, and while the feminist themes get a bit lost in the chaos, it’s still a gripping, messy thrill ride you won’t want to put down.

3.75 stars rounded up! SO HAPPY TOGETHER is a twisty, unputdownable thriller that had me hooked immediately. 24-year-old Jane is struggling to make it in New York City—both as a playwright and in the dating world. When she meets Colin, a sweet software engineer, it just seems meant to be...until he breaks things off after just a few dates, and subsequently starts dating charismatic artist Zoe. Determined to win Colin back and prove that they'll be "so happy together," Jane develops a friendship with Zoe to score a front-row seat to her and Colin's relationship. Only, Jane starts to like Zoe more than she expected she would, and she hasn't had a true friend in years. But is Zoe everything she seems? And what will happen when Jane sneaks into Colin's apartment, making an unexpected discovery that could draw the characters into a tangled, dangerous web of lies, secrets, and murder?
Olivia Worley is a pro at creating unreliable narrators, and unlikable characters who you sometimes feel frustrated with, yet you just can't look away from their antics! I felt like the pacing of the story was a little slow initially, but I enjoyed how that really allowed for readers to get to know Jane, her world, her thought processes. Then once all the different twists and turns were introduced, they kept me guessing until the very end! Both Jane and Zoe are interesting, layered characters that will have you constantly questioning their motivations, wondering who to believe. Colin felt a little underdeveloped in comparison, but I think in some ways, that was almost part of the point. It shows how when you're so infatuated with someone, you'll build them up in your head and create this whole picture of who you think they are, how compatible you think you are...and then it turns out that maybe they're not all that interesting lol. Worley also does a great job of developing the story's setting and feel! She nails the NYC, Gen Z vibes throughout, with every little detail and reference. Overall, if you love thrillers and are looking for a unique take on some seemingly-familiar tropes, you'll definitely want to add this one to your TBR! It comes out in June, making it a great choice to take to the beach this summer. Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Minotaur Books for the ARC.

So Happy Together delivers exactly what it promises—a twisty, addictive ride full of secrets, obsessions, and revenge. The plot kept me guessing, with just the right amount of tension and drama to keep me hooked from start to finish. Every reveal added a new layer, and just when I thought I had it figured out, it surprised me again.

Think Crazy Ex-Girlfriend but with some Freida McFadden twists thrown in. Meet Jane, she definitely has some issues. She went on 6 amazing dates with Colin but then he broke up with her. She just knows he’s the one and wants to win him back. After running into him and his new girlfriend Zoe a few times Zoe and Jane become friends and they start to find out some alarming things about Colin. Poor Jane, girls got it bad and she’s a mess. You will have second hand embarrassment for Jane. You will hate some of the decisions she makes but go along for the ride it’s a crazy one. I had a lot of fun with this book! Thank you NetGalley and Minotaur for the ARC!
