Main Characters:
-- Jane Williams – 24 years old, playwright who lives in New York City, edits college application essays for a living, graduated from New York University, focused on winning back Colin who broke up with her several weeks ago after six dates
-- Zoe Ember – an artist and influencer who lives in Brooklyn, Colin’s new girlfriend who befriends Jane
-- Colin Hillgrove – 24 years old, software engineer who graduated from Penn, tells Zoe that he and Jane we in the same dorm at Penn to explain how he knows her
-- Ben MacKenna – comedian, grew up with Colin, Colin’s best friend and current roommate

Based on the description, this book held a lot of potential. Jilted lover Jane sets her sights on winning back her ex Colin. In the process, she befriends his new girlfriend Zoe who thinks Jane and Colin know each other from living in the same dorm in college. Jane actually likes Zoe but believes that Colin is her soulmate. She clearly can’t have them both.

From the Prologue, we know that something has come to a head as the narrator, Jane, raises a knife. Chapter 1 takes us back three weeks with Jane on a date with Axel, who she met on a dating app. But she’s not interested in Axel. She has been going on dates every Friday for the past eight weeks at Colin’s favorite restaurant. Jane hopes to “accidentally” run into Colin to make him realize he made a mistake breaking things off.

After the date with Axel where Colin did she her, she scrolls through TikTok and happens across a video created by Colin’s date. Zoe’s video describes how to make your “Special Person” obsessed and how to manifest his desire to send you a text “like that.”

Jane is clearly the one obsessed, though, so much so that she begins stalking Zoe’s Instagram account the next morning. She discovers that Zoe is an up-and-coming artist with new gallery space. When she recognizes the logo of a coffee shop in Zoe’s Instagram post during a date with Colin, Jane searches for the shop closest to the gallery space. She knows that Colin likes long dates, so she takes the train into Brooklyn on the chance of running into him again.

While Jane forces herself not to look around the coffee shop for Colin, Zoe approaches her in line and invites her to join them at their table. Zoe wants to know what Colin was like in college because he told Zoe that’s how he knew Jane. Before they part ways, Zoe asks if they will see Jane that Friday at Colin’s birthday party. Colin absolutely wants nothing to do with Jane, but he can’t say anything without telling Zoe the truth. Jane, on the other hand, takes the opportunity to spend time with Colin to make him realize what he’s missing.

This gets us about 10% of the way through the story, and a lot happens in that 10%. However, the plot really slows down from there and becomes more about Zoe and Jane becoming friends, Zoe inviting Jane to things, Zoe trying to set Jane up with Colin’s roommate Ben. Jane tells Zoe about a play she wrote focused on Ophelia from Hamlet, and Zoe wants to read it because she always felt Ophelia was the most interesting character. And as much as Jane likes Zoe, she still maintains her focus on trying to win Colin back.

I was feeling like this would be a solid 3 stars. It held my interest, but it was slow. And the longer I read, the more I wanted the story to get moving. When it finally did, it became so chaotic (see spoilers below), and I really disliked the ending. It just feels like the author decided to throw everything into the mix to see what would stick. The author’s first two novels were young adult. This is her debut in adult fiction.

***SPOILERS*** SPOILERS***SPOILERS***

When the book starts, we assume that Jane is the only obsessed character. The entire story comes from her first-person point of view, so that makes sense. But when every character becomes a whack job with no rhyme or reason, that’s just an epic fail for me.

Let’s talk about Jane first. Jane truly is obsessed with Colin, but we have no idea why. When his roommate Ben warns her to be careful, she ignores him. When she finds a knife wrapped in a bloody sweatshirt in Colin’s drawer and overhears him yelling at someone on a phone call, she ignores all of it and chooses to still pursue him. When she sees him standing over his dead roommate with a knife, she actually helps him make Ben’s death look like a burglary gone bad.

Colin seems to be being stalked by a mysterious “Leigh,” who reaches out asking if he misses her. Zoe and Jane discover that Leigh is Ben’s ex from college who drowned in a bathtub, and they suspect Colin of killing her. After Ben’s death, Colin goes home. Zoe invites Jane to go with her to his hometown. While Colin and Zoe go for a walk, Jane finds a shoebox full of information about Leigh, so she becomes confident that Colin DID kill Leigh. Jane and Zoe leave and decide they will confront Colin to get him to confess to Leigh’s murder at Zoe’s art show—a show that will also feature part of Jane’s play where Ophelia…drowns in a bathtub.

Zoe turns out to have been Leigh’s best friend and tells Jane she always believed Colin killed Leigh. She came across Colin on the dating app and figures he dated Jane because she looks a little like Leigh. Leigh introduced Zoe to Colin as Zee only once, so she pursues him, confident he won’t remember her. She also started stalking him as Leigh and researching Jane. When Zoe discovers that Jane’s father killed himself after her mother died, she suspects that Jane actually killed him (she did). Because of that, she befriends Jane, thinking she can use Jane to get back at Colin.

In the end, Zoe drugs Colin at the art show and ties him up in an abandoned warehouse. She and Jane confront him about everything. He tries telling Jane that he loves her and that Zoe manipulated him. When Jane asks why he ended things with her, he says he thinks he wanted her to be Leigh but then he realized that wasn’t fair. He tells Jane that sometimes she made it too easy for him and that’s always been kind of a turn-off for him. That’s when she kills him?

Fast forward to six months later, Jane moved in with Zoe. Jane wrote and Zoe is directing an off-Broadway play. Colin hasn’t been seen since the art show, and his parents received an e-mail from his account confessing to Leigh’s and Ben’s murders.

Zoe leaves early to get ready for the show, and Jane looks for something in Zoe’s nightstand drawer. She finds Ben’s phone as well as Zoe’s copy of Hamlet. Tucked inside is an article about Leigh’s death. The article confirms that Leigh died of a drug overdose, which is what Colin told her before she killed him. So now Jane knows that Colin was innocent and that Zoe killed Ben, but she just puts everything back in the drawer and closes it.

WHAAAAAT?!?!

Like I said, too much chaos. Do not recommend. 🙂‍↔️

Jane is a struggling playwright in NYC. She is obsessed with Colin who dumped her several months ago but he has moved on with Zoe, an artist and influencer. In the beginning of the story, it seems to be a typical stalker tale with Jane pursuing Colin constantly. Worley includes some twists which made the reading both engrossing and propulsive. I was on the edge of my seat until and conclusion. This is a great book for those who enjoy psychological thrillers. It is best to go into blind. I thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Jane isn't an unreliable narrator. We know from the beginning that she's been stalking Colin, a man she had a brief relationship with and isn't ready to let go. Throughout the book, the reader knows almost everything Jane knows. There are plenty of revelations, but they're all new information to Jane. It's a little like "You" and a little like "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and keeps twisting in unexpected directions that I wasn't expecting it to go.

📚 ARC Review: So Happy Together by Olivia Worley
🌟🌟🌟🌟

What if the guy who ghosted you after six dates was your soulmate? Jane thinks so. At first, I totally felt for her heartbreak—until I realized Colin wasn’t exactly an ex; it was more like a brief, fun fling that Jane made into an epic obsession. That’s when I knew I was in for a wild, twisty ride.

Colin moves on with Zoe (who seems like sunshine in human form), and suddenly, Jane and Zoe are thick as thieves. But then the layers started to peel back, and suddenly, I was second-guessing everyone. Is Zoe really that sweet? Is Colin the victim? Is Jane completely unhinged or just a heartbreak case?

Worley has a knack for playing with unreliable characters, and let me tell you, one is amusing, but three? My brain was doing somersaults! The tension bubbles until it pops, leading to a finale packed with deliciously unhinged twists that make you question everything you thought you knew. Sure, some plot turns might stretch the bounds of believability, and Jane’s clingy descent can be a bit tough to relate to. But if you’re into thrillers sprinkled with cringe-worthy chaos and mind games, you’re definitely in for a treat!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. I’m usually not a thrilled reader because I have a hard time waiting till the end to have the plot twist delivered, but So Happy Together was perfectly paced. THIS WAS ACTUALLY CRAZY! The FMC was so delulu that I was laughing hysterically. The plot twist and unwinding of the mystery was so satisfying and then you get to finally epilogue and the story unwinds further leaving you with chills. Loved it.

I loved the premise of this book, and I love an unreliable narrator. I hated the main character with a passion, and for that reason, this book was not my cup of tea. Very fun and twisty though!

Lies, both to self and others, kept this sprightly mystery one step ahead of (this) reader.

Jane and Colin went on six dates and then, even though they seemed to be the perfect match, he dumped her. Two months later, Jane is on yet another app date when she sees Colin out with a beautiful red-haired woman. Worming her way into their lives, Jane thinks it’s only a matter of time before Colin’s epiphany that it’s her that he really loves, but at the same time, she is befriended by his date, the charismatic and glamorous artist, Zoe Ember.

At first, we feel that Jane is clearly fooling herself and is stalking the innocent couple, but things get more complicated than that and she finds herself genuinely liking Zoe, even while still believing Colin just needs a little more time to realize what he’s missing. Add in another stalker and a murder, and it’s a deliciously fractured narrative.

There’s so much serpentine unreliability going on here that I’m still a bit confused about what actually happened, but I’m OK with that as, at least partly, I found the characters appealing. Recommended as long as you're OK with potentially unresolved shifting sands.

Thanks to St Martin's Press and Netgalley for the digital review copy.

Give me all the unreliable narrators!!! This was an exciting thriller that kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat from start to finish. A very quick, easy read that left me questioning these characters and their motives. I have 2 other books by Olivia in my TBR and i need to quickly bump them to the front of the line because i thoroughly enjoyed this one. Devilishy dark in all the best ways.

🩷 So Happy Together 🩵
Genre: Thriller
Rating: ★★★★☆

Holy hell this main character was such a pick me. Cringe-city Population: 1 (me reading this book). Jane girlie… we all get sad when situationships end but you took it to a level I was not prepared for!

All you need to know is that Jane dates Colin for a bit, he ends things, but her obsession with him continues. The entire book was an insane ride. I wanted to shake multiple characters in this book and tell them they are crazy with a capital C. That being said, I found it to be super fun. The twists were exciting and kept coming and it made this book super bingeable.

I recommend this as a summer read if you like…

A pinch of obsession, a cup of delusion, and a couple teaspoons of manifesting the present/future that you desire and you sum up Jane very well in this highly entertaining story of being with the one you are meant to be with (even if he is currently dating another girl) and not letting reality get in the way. Now, Jane actually is not the most delusional woman I have read about this year, she does seem halfway in touch with the real world and that is what makes this story fun. I love what she and Zoe do and felt that they make a much better matched pair than her and Colin and so I enjoyed the twists that this story took, murder, cover ups, lies, mysterious texting from another woman in Colin's life, and don't forget the presentation of Ophelia starring both Zoe and Jane. Is it very realistic? Nope, not even if you live in New York, especially with the dealing of the dead bodies, but it was still fun to read and time went by quickly as I raced to get to the end to see who would end up still alive and I definitely got a good giggle out of Jane's last twisting of the truth so that it could be a happy ending.

So, yes, entertaining, if you like reading about women in their own little worlds and not get annoyed about how they twist it all to make sure it still means she gets the guy, and even a bit of murder won't stop her!

Jane is a 24-year-old playwright trying to find love in New York City, and she’s certain she’s found “the one” in Colin. Sure, he broke things off after six dates and now he’s dating a girl named Zoe, but that’s just details. Jane knows she’ll make Colin see that they could be so happy together!

This book snagged my attention immediately and did not let go for the entire wild ride through crazy town! Jane is absolutely unhinged, in a delusional, stalkery, no boundaries kind of way. Jane is an obsessive hot mess express, but there’s something kind of juicy and fun about being inside her mind. Fast paced with twists galore, I binged this book in a single day!

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Minotaur Books for providing me an advance copy of this book.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC of So Happy Together in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a wild ride from start finish to say the very least. Jane’s character is a bit unhinged, which makes you simultaneously love and hate her. Her attachment disorder surrounding her ex, Colin, is a bit extreme as she justifies her intentions as she works to reunite with him, even though he has moved to a new relationship. Jane’s personality most certainly ventures into stalker territory and more certainly crosses personal boundaries as she tries to find a way back into Colin’s life through his new girlfriend, Zoe.

Shortly after finding herself back within Colin’s orbit, Jane learns that something nefarious may be at play regarding Colin and his past relationships. As Zoe and Jane grow closer, a plan is hatched to bring Colin to justice. Filled with twists and turns, it’s clear that Olivia Worley knows how to work a serious plot twist. All is most certainly not as it appears in Jane’s world and she’s going to have to make some questionable moral decisions in order to get to the bottom of it.

Getting inside Jane’s head at times was a real thrill because that girl’s moral compass certainly does not point due north. She’s a bit of a loose cannon and boundaries in their normal sense so not exist for her. I enjoyed her perspective on her personal reasoning, as twisted as it may have been. Overall, this was a fun read that left you feeling a bit unhinged due to the various personality disorders present here. In stores June 3rd, I highly recommend this to those of you who love a good psychological thriller.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book ahead of its publication date.
Slight spoilers ahead:

This was a super quick read. It drew me in from the start and kept my attention the whole time. As much as I want to scream at Jane and shake her out of get delusion about how Colin felt about her, I did still find myself rooting for her. What I really ended up rooting for was her friendship with Zoe. Although I had my suspicions about Zoe, the ending was still satisfying.

These characters are all delusional. Great read, 4 stars.
I have not read a thriller this quickly in a long time but let me tell you this had me hooked. The twists just kept coming!
I will definitely be reading more books from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley, Olivia Worley, and St. Martin's Press for the eARC. This was such a gripping thriller with intense stalker vibes that had me constantly questioning what was real. I found myself saying, “What is even happening?!” more than once. A wild, twisty ride from start to finish!

Mystery thriller. 1 Narcissistic man, 2 women, one with the obsession. Love triangle, Murder?, betrayal. So fun reading a book where the women is the obsessive stalker!

This was...fine? It was fast paced and kept me turning the oag e s, but I disliked Jane and really felt like the last 25% was unrealistic.

So Happy Together by Olivia Worley is a psychological thriller. Jane knows her and Colin are meant to be together—she just has to convince him. But when she sees him with another girl, she is willing to do anything to get him back.

I wanted to like this story but I just couldn’t stand the main character—from the very beginning. Right away Jane rubbed me the wrong way and it really turned me off to what might have been a good, twisty storyline.

This novel is unhinged, messy, full of dizzying twists - and a totally obsessive beach read.

After only six dates, Colin breaks up with Jane, who is still fixated on him for reasons I don't understand. I guess her heart wants what it wants, but she could possibly give even Joe Goldberg some stalking tips. I shook my head in disbelief and occasional amusement over some of Jane's actions and strategies. Because of social media and an "accidental meeting", the lives of Jane, Zoe (the new GF), and Colin become intertwined in a weird and yet strangely gratifying way. Seriously, you can't tear your gaze away. Soon I suspected Jane might not be the only character with hidden motives - and that just made the story even more intriguing. After the murder the novel becomes a little darker than I expected, but it felt right under the circumstances.

Lies, secrets, murder, and a tornado of twists at the end make for a gripping read. Recommended for fans of the Netflix series You, stalkery tales, and cringe-worthy situations.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.  Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
