This is the sequel to Sign of the Slayer. It delves deeply into Egyptology compared to book one.

The vampire business recedes into the background as Raven adapts to her powers and the voices in her head. Her sharp wit and humor remain intact, making her hilarious.

The trials she goes through though take up the brunt of the story. There were a lot of snakes and hellish type creatures that I would have condensed a little.
However, the book provided a good place to escape for a bit!

These books took me a little bit to get into. I didn’t hate them but they weren’t my favorite either. I am not sure if I’d recommend unless they ran out of other series to get into.

I really struggled with the first book and the second book.
I wanted to love it but it just not for me.

I really enjoyed Sign of the Slayer. As someone who grew up in the 90s and early 2000s with the epicness that was Buffy, I absolutely devoured book one. Soul of the Stone did not disappoint in its follow-up. Picking up right where Sign left off, Sharina Harris give us an epic follow up packed with even more action.

In book 2, we get to know all of our characters more, with some jaw-dropping back stories that really were unexpected. Sharina has a way of pulling a reader in and then well… slapping them in the face with her words (in a good way of course). I absolutely loved learning more about Raven and Mama Lou, and the sass and humor provide a key to making the story come alive. Absolutely pick this up if you love vampire slayers, you won’t regret it. Patiently waiting for book 3!

Thank you Entangled for this advanced copy!

This is the second book in the series, the biggest change was more of a focus on Egyptian lore. I do think this series does. a great job with banter and making it a fun read. Its quirky and charming, and I really like the FMC. I think the magical aspect of the world is unique. We learn more about Raven as a slayer, her powers, and shes growing into herself. Overall a sold second book in the series. The only feedback I have is some of the other characters need a little more development. It was a little confusing at times for me and hard to relate to. I did enjoy the plot and the characters!

Soul of the Stone is a vivid, high-stakes supernatural romance that builds profoundly on the first book. If you appreciate richly layered world-building tied to mythology, character growth through trauma, and a push‑pull romance with serious emotional payoff—this is for you. Though density in lore and pacing in the first half may challenge some readers, the second half delivers intense action and emotional depth.

A solid sequel to the first book in this series, this one follows the newly minted slayer on a (literally) mythical journey and still ends on a cliff hanger. The elements of Egyptian myth were fascinating but needed to be more solidly woven into the narrative.

I really liked the unique plot idea, but the pacing wasn’t quite to my taste. The story started out slow, then picked up once Raven and Khamari were forced to work together. However, the last few chapters felt rushed with a lot of crazy twists revealed all at once. Overall, it’s an intriguing story with lots of potential, and the ending left me eager for the next book!

Soul of the Stone sinks its teeth into everything that made Sign of the Slayer so compelling—and cranks the stakes even higher. Raven, aka Texas is grappling with her role as the Maximus (protector of the world), a soul-haunted stone that is driving her crazy, and the betrayal of the vampire prince who may be her only hope against a rising ancient evil.

Sharina Harris blends emotional depth, sizzling tension, and rich mythology rooted in Egyptian lore to deliver a sequel that’s fierce, fast-paced, and full of heart. The enemies-to-lovers romance simmers, the action never lets up, and the worldbuilding expands beautifully without losing the series’ sharp wit and found-family feels.

If you love Black girl magic, morally gray vampires, and chosen-one chaos, this sequel absolutely delivers. I’m already counting down to book three.

Thank you to Entangled Teen and Sharina Harris for the eARC!

I love Raven and this book was excellent. Vampires and Egyptology, need I say more. I enjoyed this book pool side cooling off from this sweltering heat wave. This was a fun action packed book. Excellent sequel to "Sign of the Slayer" and a great adventure.

Hoping for another book.

Soul of the Stone is a thrilling continuation of Raven’s journey, full of twists, betrayals, and emotional growth. Sharina Harris ups the stakes (and the secrets!) in this sequel, diving deeper into the supernatural world and Raven’s connection to the Slayer legacy.

I loved seeing Raven come into her own—torn between duty and desire, navigating complicated relationships, and embracing her power. The pacing was tighter than book one, and the plot kept me turning pages. The romance? Deliciously tense. The twists? Genuinely surprising.

Some side characters could’ve used a bit more development, but overall, this was a strong, satisfying sequel that leaves me excited for what’s next. A must-read for fans of urban fantasy with sharp edges and a lot of heart.

This book crashed into me like a spell that’s way too powerful to contain. Laine is one part grumpy scholar, one part magical detective, and a whole vibe of “don’t mess with my gem powers.” She’s tasked with tracking a stone that steals souls—raw! The world-building is slick: enchanted libraries, shadowy alleyways, and spells that feel like silent screams. I kept turning pages just to see who’d get haunted next.

But don’t think it’s flawless brilliance. Some magical chatter drags—think long explanations about stone grading that feel like reading a jewelry guide at midnight. A couple of side characters pop up, deliver spooky warnings, then ghost without resolution. And Laine’s emotional arc sometimes felt stilted—like her resolve flickers and resets without enough reason. Still, once the stone’s power escalates, the tension and stakes go nuclear fast, and that payoff *slaps*.

**Verdict:**
A gritty urban-fantasy ride with gemstone-thief vibes, creeping dread, and a heroine with serious grit. It slows down in exposition, but when the magic hits? You're hooked. If you dig dark spells, haunted artifacts, and a detective vibe with sparkle, give this a go—but maybe skip the geology lesson on a full stomach.

“Really? White men usually love to give each other power.”

“Love is hard, but it’s worth it. I know that… I know that now because of you.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

thank you @entangledteen for this ebook copy, and the emotional damage alongside it.

OW? I- rude. I knew the follow up book would not be a pleasant ride but that was painful. i’m gonna need book 3 yesterday.

I already miss these characters, their humor, their love and determination. I genuinely can’t wait for book 3, and will highly recommend this series.

🩷🗡️ Book Review: Soul of the Stone 🗡️🩷
Okay listen…
This is book ✌🏼 in the Soul of the Slayer series, and while it does catch you up if you skipped book one (oops), I recommend reading Sign of the Slayer first for full betrayal-fueled impact. Trust me, the tea hits harder that way. 🫖💔

👑 Our girl Raven (aka Texas) is BACK and on a mission to find the Emerald Tablet. Sounds simple… until you factor in the whole teaming up with the vampire prince who broke your heart thing. What could possibly go wrong? (Spoiler: a lot. In the best way.)

Expect:
⚔️ Vampire-slaying chaos
👀 Enemies-to-lovers tension
🔥 Banter that bites
🧛‍♂️ A morally gray prince with secrets
💥 Big betrayals & even bigger plot twists

This series is such a fun YA vampire fix. It brings old-school slayer vibes with a fresh, myth-laced twist.

QOTD: Would you rather slay with your ex or kiss your enemy to save the world? 😈💋🗡️

Big thank you to Entangled Publishing for this ARC of Soul of the Stone! I won this in a giveaway in their Facebook group. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Book two in the Soul of the Slayer series is so much fun to follow!

We pick up with Raven who is adjusting to her new powers. If you're looking for the girl from the first book with the same wit and sharp tongue, I've got good news for you - she's still here. Raven is thankfully the same as she was in the first book, if not better than ever. We have trials, magic, and a little bit of drama to keep her busy.

Book two is full of everything you could expect from a YA vampire novel and it's genuinely so good. This series is good for anyone who loves vampires and is looking for something to lose your senses in!
