A splendidly complex and deeply researched story of one on the army's most charismatic, powerful and complicated people of all time. I without a doubt loved Gwynne's in depth description of not only Stonewall Jackson but of all the different military, political and cultural leaders of the time. He does a terrific job making you sense as though you're proper there inside the marches, battles and politices of the Civil war.
