Jack and Emily are two second grade teachers in the town of Rome, Kentucky who just cannot get along! Jack is Emily’s honest-to-God nemesis - everyone in town knows about their feud, but even as he moves away to get married, she realizes maybe he may have been her nemesis, but she cannot get him out of her mind. Throw in some writing-hikinks-secret-identity and an accidentally sent email and they find themselves working together, finding common ground, and of course, staring down a happily ever after.
I adore Sarah Adams and I love the town of Rome, Kentucky. I think this novel is really good at showing how we get stuck in our ways and decide to dig in rather than grow up. Thankfully, these two characters begin to learn to let go and trust someone else, and along the way, they have absolutely delicious chemistry. The world that these novels live in is a living, breathing place - and Adams manages to combine hometown charm with slow-burn rival romance and a few steamy interludes. I will read anything she writes and I love how she showcases real-deal character development with a side of rom-com.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I loved this third installment in the When in Rome series! I was so excited to be picked by NetGalley to read this ARC of Beg, Borrow, or Steal by Sarah Adams. I devoured it in a weekend. I love the tie-in with the other Walker siblings to get an update on their lives as well as some of the people from town. I also love the enemies-to-lovers trope. Emily is the sibling who is a mother hen who tends to and takes care of her siblings and their needs. This book focuses on her strengths as well as her struggles in an honest way. I like how the POV switches between Emily and Jack so we understand each of them better. It was great how well they related to each other and shared experiences such as attending college together and now both being 2nd-grade teachers who teach across the hall from one another. They each voice their insecurities, and those insecurities are relatable. They both have secrets and are scared to reveal them, especially to each other. The characters are relatable and endearing. This book did not disappoint!

thank you to the publisher for letting me read this early. i love this series, it's so fun and sweet. Cannot WAIT for the Madison book. :) yay!!!!

I really enjoyed this book! As an avid reader of romance, the tropes do begin to get tired from time to time, but Sarah Adams made this enemies to lovers story fresh and engaging throughout. It was a quick, fast-paced, plot-heavy read, full of witty banter and small town joys. Although spiciness was pretty mild, there was some, and the book was super sexy anyway. I read this in just a couple of sittings, and I think romance fans are going to love it.

This whole Rome series is adorable. Beg, Borrow and Steal is no different.
Jack and Emily have been “enemies” since college….antagonizing each other to greatness.
Emily is the oldest sister and the glue that holds the family together. She takes care of everyone. Now is finally time to focus on herself and her book.
Cue Jack to re-enter the picture. He has moved back to Rome after a tragic break-up and bought the house next door to his nemesis, Emily. Hilarious points of contention between these two and they end up falling for each other. It’s a little messy but all good things are.
Such a great book series. It’s flirty, funny and romantic. A nice light read to make you smile.

I will read anything by Sarah Adams! So blessed I was able to read this early. I already purchased this book for our library and there are holds as we speak. Though it was my least favorite in the series so far, it's only because the others are truly 5 star reads, meaning I would read them again in the future. I LOVE the haters to lovers trope, but the only reason this didn't get 5 stars is because the slow burn was reeeeeally slow and the main character bothered me sometimes. I thought she could be too hard on Jack. That being said, I really did like this book and will continue to recommend the series!

Absolutely amazing read from the first page to the end and wanted more the second I got to the last page.

I was so excited to be picked by NetGalley to read this ARC of Beg, Borrow, or Steal by Sarah Adams.
This is the third book in the When in Rome series. This book concentrates on sweet buttoned up second grade teacher Emily Walker. Emily was a rock for her three siblings when their parents passed away when she was young. She has put them all before herself and shoving down her own feelings. In college she meets Jackson Bennett, a handsome man who gets on her very last nerve. They have an amazing chemistry that they won't act on. Jackson is also a second-grade teacher, and a famous author who has kept his identity a secret. Emily is an inspiring romance author who accidently sends her scandalous book to boss at the school. Jack and Emily go on a hilarious journey to delete the email for it is seen.
As the series goes on the spice level has increased. I feel like the book was a little long. I know the reason was to introduce the fourth and final sibling. She was setting us up the next book in the series.

I'm loving this trip to Rome, Kentucky with Sarah Adams.
This is book 3 in the series and each one is unique enough and entertaining enough that I keep coming back.
This book focuses on Emily (we've previously followed her brother Noah and sister Annie's stories). She's a classic eldest daughter, exacerbated by losing her parents young and getting her heart broken.
She's got everyone's back in her family, her school and her town. She's over organized, guarded and in control all the time. Her life is only marred by the return of her nemesis, Jack.
He's charming and funny and also guarded for a different set of family reasons, but Emily brings out a side of him that's real. He pushes Emily out of her shell.
Their journey from enemies to friends to lovers is heart warming and funny and spicy fun. But it also goes deeper, which is what I love about this series of Adams.
In these books we've seen the way each sibling reacted to the grief of losing their parents young, a grandmother with Alzheimer's and the way Adams highlights how grief really hits everyone in completely different ways and coping mechanisms is so helpful and beneficial for readers.
Anyone whose lost someone can find a piece of themselves in these characters and take a lesson in growth from them.

I absolutely loved this story! Sarah Adams is an auto buy and readers that have enjoyed this series will be thrilled with this title! Sarah Adams writes a wonderful romance that is well balanced and swoon worthy! It appeals to a wide array of romance customers!

Another great Sarah Adams read! Loved the characters, pacing, and storyline! A quick read and can't wait for the next story set in this world!

Sarah Adams write addictive books! I absolutely loved the first two books about the Walker siblings, so I knew I wanted to read this one. Emily and Jack were so fun together. The chemistry was intense, and their banter was amazingly funny. I found myself laughing out loud often at their emails to one another, and their comebacks!
What I also love about Adam's books is that the characters really need to heal from something in their lives. The way Jack and Emily work through the personal problems they have made the plot move even more. I also loved the "reenactment" of the sexy scene from her book that Jack helped her with! Swoon!
I look forward to the next Walker story!
Thank you for sharing the arc with me!! My students love Sarah Adams books!

Sarah Adams creates two frenemies who are supposed to be oil and water but I don't think anyone in Rome, Kentucky could mistake their playful goading and constant antagonizing as anything other than chemistry and tension. The eldest sister in the Walker family (Emily) finally has her turn in the Rome series and she's been the family glue and the 'stand in' momma for her siblings for over 20 years. Her siblings are grown and off living their lives with their partners now and she's feeling a little empty and lost. Especially lost now that her favorite coworker to torture, Jack, has moved away. But wait! Jack's back! Plus, he moved in next door. Plus he broke it off with the old girlfriend. Now is the chance for these two fools to see what they mean to each other (love, not hate). There is sneaking around, a few pranks, and quite a bit of crying, but in a good way. For the series lovers there are peeks of Noah, Amelia, Annie, and Will, and a preview of middle Walker sister Madison and James. It was an easy, breezy summer read (even though it releases in January!?!) and a bit of an ode to teachers.
Thanks so much for the ARC!

inject this into my veins i’m not even kidding. i’m obsessed i relate to emily so deeply and i want someone willing to sit in the darkness with me. this was so good and got me right in the heart.

Thank you to the publisher for this arc. I really enjoy this series. This book was really cute. I absolutely can't wait until James and Maddie's book, which should be the next book in the series.

Each book in this series gets better and better. I loved Emily so much. She's strong and independent but so loving and protective of her family. Jack is also strong and independent, loving and protective. These two are so much alike--definitely not an opposites attract trope. Emily has so many boundaries in place to protect her heart--with good reason--but watching her slowly let those boundaries come down was so, so fun. Love the town and Mabel and the found family (for Jack). The 3rd act misunderstanding wasn't a break-up and was well written. I can't wait for Madison and James's story--I already love James so much! Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC.

Sarah Adams kills it every single time. I just adore her and this series so much. I loved this book so much that I genuinely burst into tears at the end. Then proceeded to make my mom read it, and my best friend, and I had a whole lineup of people that I can’t wait to have read it and then tell me how much they loved it. I can’t wait for this book to be out in the world. It means everything to me. I just adore it and Sarah Adams with my whole heart.

Beg, Borrow, or Steal is a great enemies to lovers trope. It is done in such a way that you are not only cheering for the bickering foreplay, but also longing to them to just give it up and fall for each other already. This is my first taste of Sarah Adams, but definitely not my last.

Thank you Dell for the arc!
I really enjoyed this. I never read when in Rome and only sort of enjoyed practice makes perfect (Annie was too much of a pushover for me) but this—this—was for me. I think fans of Business Casual will adore this (even though I hated that book but still loved this one)
I don’t know who I related to more. Emily or Jack, especially with Jack’s narcissistic dad. There are so many layers to both of their characters that made them so extremely relatable while keeping them emotional and personal, while also making the book fun and lighthearted. Rome has a total Stars Hollow vibe with likable, gossiping townies that I adore. As far as the plot went, it was enjoyable and had me squealing at times!!!! I have never met a MMC named Jack who I did not like, and he's no different. But towards the end it started to drag and I think it could have been cleaned up a lot sooner and quicker. It was a slow burn, treading very lightly on the spice but I was happy with it nonetheless!
Emily is just like me. Sharp edges, a moderate amount of pessismism, the girl who helps everyone before she helps herself, etc. And Jack, her motorcycle-tattooed-cute-second-grade teacher only wants to love and care for her. S m i t t e n we are talking here. "I'll be so careful with you, Emily" fuck-me-now-Jack. 🦋💞😝
Jack—I relate so much. His narcisstic dad was the main focus for his character's conflict. "I have zero hope for us. it's a weird thing to let yourself grieve your parent who is still living, but I've done it—do it regularly, actually." Hit the nail on the head with that one. All I could do was go MHM MHM while reading because it was scarily accurate. Jack deserves the world and I'm so glad he was able to stand up for himself by the end. Anyone with that sort of father understands how hard it is to do at the end of the day.
I just loved the two of them together. I love when the two main characters have no other person in their lives as their emotional outlet and use each other. I'll eat it up every time!!!!!!!!!😍
This is technically a second chance romance, but not because they've dated. It's more of a rivals-to-lovers trope, only "second chance" because Jack had moved away, married someone else, and came back. Second chance in the way You, With a View is second chance, or Beach Read. Not second chance at all. And I kind of wish authors would just stop making their characters already know each other from a past encounter. While it worked for this novel and gave us a Rose and Connor vibe, I also think it would have served well if it wasn't that way.
This was a sweet, fluffy but emotionally griping read that I thoroughly enjoyed and I really hope Madison gets a book because... my poor man James needs it!!!! he's been thru the trenches 😫

Sarah Adams is such a talented writer! Her small-town romance series centered around the four Walker siblings in Rome, Kentucky, brings me so much joy, and Beg, Borrow, or Steal was no less lovely.
Emily Walker is the strong-willed oldest sister adored by her town and everyone around her—except for Jackson Bennett, or so she thinks! Jackson is a fellow second-grade teacher who has been competing with Emily ever since he accidentally spilled coffee on her blouse back in college. Emily can’t stand it when Jack gets the upper hand or when others side with him instead of her. So, when Jack moves in across the street, Emily decides to take matters into her own hands, and they both soon realize they might not be such enemies after all.
The banter between Emily and Jack was a total delight—fun and silly to read! I did feel like the romance moved a little quicker than I expected, but it was sweet, well-paced, and not overdone. Plus, we get glimpses of our favorite characters from the past two books, which sets everything up perfectly for the final installment. There are only a couple of spicy scenes, but neither takes away from the main storyline.
As a fellow Emily, I can’t help but love it! Adams is definitely one for the girls, and I’m so sad I have to wait for the final book now! If you’re a fan of Nora Roberts' beloved steamy quartets, Sarah Adams has once again brought her readers back to Rome, KY, where everyone feels like family and everyone gets their happy ending—even if you’re an alpha eldest daughter who knows exactly how and where each piece and person in her life belongs. Adams’ men continue to occupy that liminal space between White Knight and lovable jerk.
