I enjoyed this sooo much more than Dungeons & Drama. What an excellent second edition!
This is such a genuine and heart warming story, while still taking (older) readers back to the high stakes emotions of adolescence and navigating friendships, family, and relationships. While only a side quest in the overall story, I must say my favorite part was Quinnโs relationship development with her younger brother. It plucked at all of my heart strings and reminded me of growing up with my own sometimes apathetic/sometimes overprotective younger brother ๐
Such a great read suitable for teen and young adult readers!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was so cute. I loved Dungeons and Drama and this one was so fun! Loved the characters and the element of friendship. Such a cute ya read.

Dating and Dragons is book two in the Dungeons and Drama series by Kristy Boyce.
I adored book one Dungeons and Drama. And after reading the second book Iโm obsessed!
This was an adorable laugh out loud YA romance that is utterly captivating.
One of the best gaming romances Iโve ever read!
The story is refreshingly engaging, with well-drawn characters and a lighthearted yet heartfelt narrative.
The dynamic between Quinn and Logan is both charming and authentic, filled with witty banter and genuine moments that evolve as they navigate their journey.
This book was absolutely delightful! It was fun, sweet, and light-hearted!
Overall, Dating and Dragons is a fun, uplifting tale perfect for fans of YA romance and gaming, reminding us that sometimes love and dreams can blossom in the most unexpected places.
I hope this series continues!
Thank you Random House Children's /Delacorte Romance for this approved eARC!

This book was the perfect book to start 2025 with! It was literally so cute! I knew I was going to love this book after previously loving Dungeons and Drama and I am so glad it lived up to the hype. Quinn and her family have just moved to a new town, which means starting at a new school in the middle of the school year. She's hoping that joining a new D&D group will help her make friends. The group livestreams their sessions, has a strict no phone policy and a no dating group members rule. Quinn doesn't think that's going to be a problem until her bickering with group member Logan becomes something more.
I loved Quinn and Logan, I thought the buildup to their relationship was absolutely adorable! The slow burn and pining were so well done and I loved their banter. They had me smiling the whole time, it was so cute! I loved their D&D group as well, and I loved the Quinn was able to make real friends with people who shared the same interests as her. Quinn's feisty and matchmaking grandma was one of my favorite characters in this book! Her scenes were laugh out loud funny and I loved the moments Quinn shared with her family. There are a lot of D&D elements in this book, and while I'm not too familiar with the actual game, I never felt like I was missing anything. The gaming sections were just as fun to read and I was engaged throughout.
Overall, this was a fantastic YA romcom, the main characters are adorable, and there are some hilarious parts as well. I would HIGHLY recommend this book!

Some books feel like a breath of fresh air because they are routine and donโt have some new fairytale to offer. But Dating & Dragons is not only refreshing, it has a sense of mature wonder. Itโs Boyceโs second foray into the teen DND romance world and she provides a sweet story built into her romance. As Quinn navigates a new school (yikes, tough for anyone), she also has to navigate her feelings for fellow player Logan. Despite her new groups rules for no dating within the group, Quinn and Logan have an intense chemistry that bleeds over into their DND game. Quinnโs character is distrustful and takes time to warm up to the others, which is the opposite of her attitude towards her group. Sheโs open to finding happy moments among the group. As she battles her feelings for Logan, we learn that her old school, group, and boyfriend broke apart when their infatuation fizzled. And as Quinn and Logan heat up, the new fear rises. I enjoyed seeing Quinnโs walls come down and her trust open up through her gameplay with the group. As her character learns to trust Loganโs, Quinn falls for him more. And when it comes to a head, the game, and Quinnโs heart, are all at stake. I recommend picking up books 1 and 2 if you want light-hearted romance with a heavy dose of cute nerds.

Dating and Dragons by Kristy Boyce was absolutely adorable. I am so glad this was my first read of 2025. This experience was a feel good, adorable romance that had me smiling the entire time. I really enjoyed the characters and I felt they were true to their age. This story follows Quinn. She is a transferred student to a new high school and joins a D&D group. Quinn meets Logan who was an adorable character. I loved the way the author developed the characters and made their dynamics feel so real. The romance was absolutely adorable. The slow burn between Quinn and Logan had me on my toes. I will definitely continue to support Kristy Boyceโs work because her writing is so captivating and beautiful. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC. I had an amazing experience reading this stunning book.

Dating and Dragons was a delight to read and anyone who loves Dungeons and Dragons or YA reads with adorable, heartwarming grandma's will love this one!
Quinn is the new girl in town, moving to be closer to her grandma. She loves playing D&D and hopes to fit in with a new group, absolutely delighted when on the first day she meets a girl wearing dice earrings. Being invited to join a group that livestreams every Saturday, she loves her new role and creativity, while also knowing to be cautious due to her past group that she moved away from. Especially since she can't stop looking away from Logan and he can't from her, but what about the rules that they can't date team members? Will the risk be worth the reward as they play together and try to avoid one another?
Kristy Boyce wrote another hit with Dating and Dragons, a YA romance with a Dungeons and Dragons focus. Every single time I read a D&D ish book, I want to play the game especially with Kristy's as she makes the game sound riveting and engaging. While Quinn and Logan were great main characters, Quinn's grandma really stole the show for me with her hilarious one-liners and meddling ways. The Ohio jabs about our weather were hilariously spot on and I finished reading Boyce's book with yet another smile on my face. If you love Lynn Painter's YA books, you will LOVE Dating and Dragons.

This book was so cute! I loved the cuteness of this book! The main characters were very well done and I could not put this book down.

This book was SO CUTE!!! I was giggling and smiling the whole time.

Quinn Norton moves to a new high school and joins a D&D group to make new friends but past friend-group-breakups at her old school have left her nervous and uncertain about how comfortable she is in a group setting again, especially when she starts to have a crush on the adorkable Logan Weber.
Being about a D&D group, there is a good balance between the time spent playing D&D and the characters and their lives at school, home, and as a group out and about. This led to a nice development in the game as the team got used to Quinn and she warmed up to their expectations, and in Quinnโs life as she adjusted to her new home. This made such a wonderfully fun story to read. It was cute, fantastical, and there were some lovely protective moments showcasing Logan and what he thinks about Quinn although of courseโฆ no dating allowed in the D&D group!! ๐

1. There was a lot of on-page time between Quinn and Logan. Boyce really stokes up the slow burn and allows tons of on-page development as these two decide what they should do (I donโt want to spoil anything!) I love when we get to see the potential couple interact a lot, rather than pining from a distance. We get to know them both more and it makes for many cute, swoon-worthy moments.
2. Quinnโs grandma!!!! All too often when I read books where side characters are elders or toddlers, they just donโt seem to be real people and are more of a prop. (Like, has the author ever met anyone that age before??) But thatโs not the case here! Quinnโs grandma is a lively, active, and REAL character. Sheโs charming and adorable but also drops some sage advice or more so unfiltered opinions to help (or embarrass) Quinnโs blossoming love life. She is struggling with the very real weight of aging and how that affects her independence, so that really pulled on my heart strings. It was well done so once you see grandma on the page, know you are in for a good time!

Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC copy of Dating and Dragons. This is my honest review.

I havenโt been able to finish a book in one seat in forever, but I did with this one. I forgot how amazing YA books can be, how enthralling and utterly sweet. Lord. So cute. It started to cute, love at first sight and then it spiced up with some enemies to lovers. I giggled like a school girl and fell in love with the characters.
These characters were so cute I wanted to scream, and Logan? He will be the perfect protective gentleman when he gets to college, it just how it is. HE IS SO CUTE AND CONSIDERATE!
The realization that he doesnโt want her there cause he canโt date her otherwise is so great. Oh the joy of YA romance

I absolutely loved this book so much. I couldn't wait too read this book after the frist one. I felt so bad for the main character Quinn. She had some much trauma from her old friends, but I am do glad she found her true friends when she and her family moves. I loved Quinn's grandma so much she reminded me of my grandma so much. And Logan was such a good love interest. I also love that her and her little brother got to be so close and they could go more. I can't wait to own this book so I can reread it.

The more I read these books the more I want to learn to play D&D. This is a fun, sweet high school romance about friendship and finding your people. Dating and Dragons tackles what happens when friendships fall apart and how finding the right group of friends changes everything. I really enjoyed this story and hope to see more in the future.

Cute teen geek romance revolving around DnD (thank you for giving me ideas for future on shots lol). The drama ws real, giving me flashbacks of how vicious high school kids could be.
Yes, I saw the reveals from a mile away, but that was probably experience talking. This actually pointed to how relatable the characters were even though you might not have been in the same exact situation. We could all remember the fuzzy feeling with our first teenage love and the pain from toxic friendship.
Nothing special but not bad either.

Okay the good news is that Kristy Boyce is back with another D&D centered romance novel. The bad news? Well, to be honest it isnโt quite as good as Dungeons and Drama, lol. Okay, so it isnโt entirely fair to actual call that bad news. The truth is that I absolutely loved Dungeons and Drama so Iโd have been shocked (and insanely thrilled) had Dating and Dragons been as good or even better than Dungeons and Drama. That being said, Dating and Dragons is still excellent and I enjoyed every minute of it. Quinn and Logan as great leads, and the supporting cast of characters is darn good as well, especially Quinnโs grandmother. You canโt help but love her.
The story centers around Quinn, whoโs family has recently located to be closer to Quinnโs grandmother who is getting up there in age and isnโt as stable or independent as sheโd like to believe she is. Quinn isnโt that upset to have moved because things had been falling apart for her at her old school. Sheโd been a part of D&D group back there but it had fallen apart when sheโd almost gotten into a semi-relationship with another of the party members. (Itโs drama, I wonโt spoil it here). So while she is relieved to be away from that situation, she worries about fitting in with kids at her new school. But actually thanks to her grandmother, Quinn ends up meeting a group who just happen to have their own D&D group that live streams their sessions. It just happens to include a Logan, a boy she isnโt begins to fall for. The only issueโฆthe group has a rule about not dating within the group. The interaction between Quinn and Logan is seriously cute as both try to figure out/fight their feelings, worried about how the group may feel if they decide they want to date. Itโs a super cute story, touching on some semi-serious issues such as bullying, caring for the elderly, and realizing your own self worth. As I said before, while I loved Dungeons and Drama more, I still enjoyed the heck out of Dating and Dragons. I really hope Ms. Boyce keeps up these D&D centric romances. Iโll definitely be here for them. Iโd like to thank Random House Children's | Delacorte Romance, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an eARC of Dating and Dragons.

I loved this simple, sweet, and fun high school romance! It follows Quinn, who just moved to a new school in the middle of the school, escaping toxicity from her old friend group. As an introvert, she really hopes to make friends, but knows it won't be easy. But, with her interest in D&D. she makes a friend who plays D&D in a group. Things are looking hopeful, but it seems the new group is much more serious about D&D than Quinn's old friend group was. Not only do they play D&D, but they livestream weekly. And to keep issues within the group to a minimum, they've established a no dating rule amongst the group, which wouldn't be much of a problem... if Quinn and Logan, a member of the group, weren't mutually attracted to each other.
What I loved most about this book was the people and their relationships. Most of characters seem like great people, and they are all very supportive of each other. This mutual support and unconditional love for each other made the whole book much more enjoyable! My favorite characters are Kashvi and Quinn's grandma. Kashvi is honestly the best friend a girl could ask for, and Quinn's grandma accounted for most of the humor. I loved Quinn's relationship with both of these characters, as they helped her grow, and she helped them, too. The plot was really simple, but I loved how it unfolded. It was predictable at times, but that didn't take away from story at all. The last 20% of the book was super eventful, but just as fun.
Overall, this was a very engaging read, and honestly, I would love to see more about these characters. Maybe simply an extra epilogue, or even a sequel about one of Quinn's friends. I'd love to spend more time with these characters!

Another absolutely adorable read. These are such sweet, quirky, cozy reads. I'm not a D&D girlie but these stories were just so fun that it really didn't matter.

This book was so cute and fun but it definitely leaned a bit younger than I expected. The D&D parts wasnโt as strong as the first book, which is fine by me since I donโt mind but if youโre reading it specifically for that you might want to lower your expectations a bit. Logan was sweet but Quinn didnโt fully click for me, she just felt kinda flat. That said, the ending was adorable and left me grinning so itโs worth a read if youโre into lighthearted YA! Oh and shoutout to the grandma, absolute icon!!!! ๐ค

This was a super adorable sequel to Dungeons & Drama. They have nothing to do with each other other than teenagers playing D&D. Super fun and kept moving.
Quinn, our main character, has just started at a new school in the middle of the year. With a rather embarrassing first day thanks to her eccentric Grandma, she still ends up finding a group of kids with similar interests. She slowly ends up being asked to play with them and added to their group that live streams their games. She starts off clashing with Logan, but we quickly figure out it's because the 2 are drawn to each other. But the group has a "no dating rule" between group members so the 2 fight their feelings.
I really enjoyed the pacing with this story. It was light, fun, and still emotional with family matters. I LOVED the epilogue so much and want a full chapter or short story about it!!

Dating and Dragons is another really cute, really sweet, and really fun romance by Kristy Boyce. Perfectly reflects the chaotic nature dnd groups can have with the fun love of the game (despite how hardcore those actual play livestreams can be). A good, fun, and fast read. Perfect for fans of romance and ttrpgs.

I canโt believe 2024 is coming to a close. I swear this year went by in a blink of an eye, but before this year gets swept away I wanted to put out one more review.
Happy pub day Dating and Dragons! First, a special thank you to @netgalley and @delacorteromance for the advance reader copy! I finished this one a few days ago, and I couldnโt put it down! This was the perfect follow up and such a highly anticipated read of mine, Iโm so honored to have gotten an early read!โจ
Obviously I loved it so much I picked up a copy today on its pub day, LOVE the color, but I love the story even more. This is such a sweet YA romance that also discovers self and platonic love, itโs also filled with such delightfully nerdy elements, and reminds me of my dear friends. This is perfect for the teen in your life or if youโre a big D&D fan. This fixed some of the issues I had with Dungeons and Drama, so Iโm happy to report this one as a 4.5!
