This book was so tragically beautiful. I hate that there isn’t much talk about this one!
The pain and loss that was shown in the book, the way they chose to cope…it was just so well done. I’m certain that Hartmann is unable to write a book I don’t thoroughly enjoy.
If you love a cut and dry cute romance, this one won’t be for you. This one was deep, moving, and gut wrenching in the best way. I felt every word of this book.
You definitely get a little grumpy sunshine in this book. I loved Parker’s character. Rough edges and all. His character was so fun to watch develop. To find his footing in everything new he’s experiencing. The amount of emotions I went through while reading this one was intense.
Hartmann is re-releasing this book December 30th, if you love an emotional yet beautiful read, this one should be on your TBR

I believe this novel is getting republished, which is how I was fortunate to receive an ARC. Thank you so much Bloom Books | Sourcebooks! I devoured this one. The revised publication date is December 31, 2024.
Now let me preface this review with the fact that this book had me weeping. Not just once...multiple times. Certain topics and moments scattered throughout truly gutted me. I went into this book blind and I highly recommend doing that but I think doing that set me up for a little more unprepared heartbreak. This is my second book by this author so I expected tears but this book really gutted me. Jennifer Hartmann's writing style is so unique and I love that she provides so much in one book. She will surely have you feeling all of the feelings.
This story takes you through the span of an entire lifetime in less than 400 pages. As a reader, you will be completely engaged and feel connected to each of the characters. The plot is orchestrated in the most seamless manner. The tension between the main characters is palpable and it will have you at the edge of your seat. There are no dull moments.
This is an easy four-star book. For myself, I definitely teeter closer to the 4.5 star line however, I'm rounding down because the ending had me yearning for just a bit more information.
If you enjoy adult, contemporary romance this is for you. I highly recommend this book and this author. I look forward to reading more of her books.
As always, all thoughts are my own. ✨🖤

Oh Jennifer- how I love you! I craveeee her dark romance books. I loved this one. The relationship was great, the steaminess was next level. I will continue to read her books!!

I’ve heard a lot of great things about this author so was very pleased to be given a chance to arc read this.
Not my usual type of book, this is very heartfelt and emotional!! It truly grips you and I even had watery eyes towards the end!
Perfect for anyone who love an emotional read! Beautifully written and very easy to follow and understand!

I am not okay right now 😭😭 I knew this story was gonna be sad, but dang it Jennifer, you had me crying the whole last 20% of the book 😭😭😭

I love an angsty and tension filled book with an intriguing storyline and Jennifer Hartmann has delivered this for me again! This book pulled so many emotions from me. It was so heartbreakingly beautiful.
The story follows Melody and Parker, two broken people who met at a suicide prevention group. Melody lost her husband, and Parker was a defeated man who faced so much suffering in his life.
"We are both two broken souls, fractured in opposite ways. She loved and lost… And I was lost before I could ever love at all. "
It was through each other that they each healed and learned to love again. The way that their relationship and chemistry developed throughout the story felt so authentic. Even the spice felt emotional. This was truly a beautiful romance. I was rooting for these characters so damn hard. Even the secondary characters.
Through grief, pain and heartache, Melody and Parker learn to live again. Heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time. It reminded me to appreciate all the little things in life and that each moment is precious.

Jennifer is the only author I trust to completely shatter my heart and put it back together again.
This book was unbelievably tragic with both Melody and Parker surviving so much pain and heartache but it was also so beautiful. This book showcases the highest highs and the lowest lows and how hard the struggle is to simply survive when you are at your lowest. That in the end all the hard work was worth it.
I loved how flawed and vulnerable Melody and Parker were and how they dealt with their trauma in completely different ways. They were the definition of grumpy/sunshine even if Melody felt like an extinguished sun.
Their connection felt kismet and I absolutely loved their healing journey and how they found comfort and peace with each other, after an incredibly rocky road.
This book was absolutely worth the roller coaster ride of emotions. I can’t wait to add this new stunning cover to my Jennifer shelf

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc of this book. This book follows the dual perspectives of the female main character Melody and the male main character Parker. Melody's life is turned upside down when her Husband is killed on their anniversary. Both main characters embark on an emotional journey in this book. This book does address some series issues such as suicide and grief. The main characters journey sucked me in, I could not put this book down.

I’ve always been drawn to stories about loss, healing, and starting over, but this author takes those themes and blends them with passion and intensity in a way that feels fresh every single time. Even though I’ve read books with similar themes before, there’s something uniquely raw and relatable about how this story unfolds.
The way the author captures the fears of losing someone, the tangled mess of grief, and the tentative joy of finding a new beginning is so vivid, it feels personal. On top of that, the steamy, electrifying chemistry between the characters adds another layer of emotion, making every connection feel deeply authentic.
This book explores not only heartbreak and healing but also the fiery, complicated dynamics of desire and intimacy. If you enjoy deeply emotional, well-written stories with a dash of heat, this one is absolutely worth reading.

When faced with significant tragedy how it effects you can forever change your life.
The Wrong Heart took me on a roller coaster of emotions and that was just without the romance aspect of it all. After Melody loses her husband to a robbery gone wrong she struggles and she struggles until she feels there is no other way out.
Parker has been dealt a bad hand since he was young and withdraws from everyone except his sister who loves him unconditionally.
I loved the healing aspect that this book had in so many ways, but I will admit that Parker made it hard to like him let alone not want to punch him in the throat with how he treated Melody. Their road to happiness is rough but is well deserved.

This book messed me up in the best way, like all Jennifer Hartmann books do. They are heart-wrenching and gut-punching, all wrapped up with the fact that I simply cannot stop reading once I pick it up. I loved the characters and the twists & turns. At times I was confused about who was telling the story (POV) but once I got about halfway through, it was smooth sailing.

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book.
The story follows Melody, and her navigation of life after losing her husband. She joins a lifelines support group, where she meets Parker, a visibly closed off and very emotionally unavailable man.
The two make an unlikely pair, but in time, we learn just why their stories connect.

The Wrong Heart is a dual POV that follows Melody March as she navigates life after the sudden passing of her husband. Along her journey, she meets Parker Denison, a man who is struggling through his own past and trauma. As they get to know each other they slowly start overcoming their individual wounds. This book also contains heavy topics such as, but not limited to: grief, loss of a loved one, self-harm, suicide, and child abuse.
While I enjoyed the premise of the novel, it was not for me. While I appreciated the discussion of the heavier topics and interactions between Parker and Melody as they worked through their relationship, the overall plot did not feel satisfying. At times the pacing felt off or there were points that I felt could have been expanded upon for smoother transitions.
Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for gifting me the opportunity to read this ARC! All opinions are my own.

Jennifer Hartmann is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me.
Read in one day, could not put it down. Loved the whole book. The author sucks the reader in for an emotional ride, and I was here for it. Definitely recommend

This is my sixth Jennifer Hartmann book that I’ve read, and this one is HANDS DOWN MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE! Jennifer’s books always start off devastatingly heartbreaking, but she always finds a way to bring you all back together at the end, and this book was this to a T. Everyone should pick this one up when it comes out on December 31!

Loved it! It was a tragically sweet story. The grief of losing a spouse was written authentically and from a place of respect. It shows the struggles of being human and that life goes on even when you’re numb to it all. The characters aren’t prefect and remind us that growth and change are necessary.

4.5 Stars!
"All broken things can be fixed. The hard part is deciding that they're worth fixing."
The Wrong Heart is a beautiful and heartbreaking second-chance romance that will hit you with all the feels and leave you with a story you never saw coming. This story is deep, and heartwrenching, and will take you on one heck of a journey. It's just the angsty read I never knew I needed.
I'll definitely be checking out more from this author in the future.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
• this book was heavy but SO good! I enjoyed seeing Melody’s growth throughout the book and Parker omg, i just wanted to give him a big hug 🥹
Hartmann is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors!

All I can say is WOW.
Jennifer Hartmann has a way with her words. She writes the most heartbreakingly beautiful stories that never fail to make me smile and cry.
As soon as I read what this story was about, I knew I had to read it immediately. The way this story was woven was so beautiful.
We meet Melody on a happy moment in her life. She is out with her husband and everything is perfect. Until it’s not. Her world gets thrown upside down and she doesn’t know how to handle it all.
We also meet Parker. A man who has a horrible past and a grumpy disposition. We don’t know his reasoning for being in the hospital at the beginning, but we can only assume what it’s for.
These two meet in the most unlikely of places at the most unlikely of time. They need each other, but they are both stuck in the past. Melody is trying to find her sunshine again, and Parker is trying to work through his past and put his sights on the future, which is Melody.
This story has me in tears, but it also had me smiling at times. There were so many sweet moments that stuck out to me. Parker worked through so much to get to Melody. He did so much for her, both big and little. Melody had to work through her own thoughts, but she was always there for Parker, whether he wanted her there or not. Their happy ending was the sweetest thing to read.
Thank you so much Netgalley and Jennifer Hartmann for this ARC. This was a wonderful story.

Jennifer Hartmann books never disappoint. I surprisingly hadn’t read this one yet, so I was really happy I was chosen to review it.
Melody and her husband are out celebrating their anniversary when tragedy strikes and Melody is suddenly widowed. Parker has been through the worst of the worst in life and is a pretty miserable, grumpy person (rightfully so). Their lives intertwine in multiple ways and the roller coaster of their story begins.
One of my favorite things about this story is the fact that there was a twist towards the end I didn’t see coming. I knew something was coming, but didn’t actually guess the real twist and so thats always a pleasant surprise for me.
If you’re a JH fan and you haven’t read this one yet, check it out. I really enjoyed it!
