Such a slow burn character driven domestic suspense. Can I call is domestic if it mostly takes place in Paris?
Nothing is as it seems in the complex, layered game of chess. It’s unlikable characters doing shady things. It’s full of deception and secrets. Wait did I mention the unlikable characters? They are seriously the most unlikable ones I’ve read this year. But that said, it really fits the story. I questioned there actions and their motives and knew there was a bigger picture from the start.
And that ending! I had to read the epilogue twice to figure out what just happened.
It reminded me a little of The Paris Apartment. For more than just the setting. The pace. The atmosphere. And the characters.
If you’re a fan of slow burn, this should be on your radar.

It's good to go in blind to this story of a couple, Cassie and Oliver, who take off for their honeymoon in Paris. Simultaneously, Taylor reserves a honeymoon suite...but there is no groom. Just a suitcase full of money.
Taylor always wanted to be in Paris, but she's here for all the wrong reasons. She begins following the couple, made easy because Cassie is posting their whole life on social media. Why is she so obsessed with this couple, who seem to be the not-so-happy married couple they appear to be in public? While I found most of the characters unconscionable, they made for a good story.
Once the twists are revealed, everything clicks.
I love a good betrayal story, and Jouhanneau totally delivered on that front!
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for an advance review copy by this new-to-me author!

We start out with a woman in Paris using cash to rent a hotel room. Taylor looks furtive and out of place and suspicious of her surroundings. Another woman (Cassie) and her husband (Olivier) have checked into a very posh hotel nearby on their honeymoon. Cassie, trying to be a social media influencer, posts everything about her time in Paris, thereby making it easier for Taylor to stalk her and Olivier.
The beginning of this book really brought in the psychological, atmospheric thrill part of the book. I loved the Paris descriptions, how suspicious Taylor was, and reading the train wreck of the green card marriage between Cassie and Olivier. This book is told in all 3 of their POVs and it really helped flesh the book out.
Cassie had no redeeming qualities about herself and Olivier, very little. I felt bad for Taylor, but I wished that she would have stood up for herself at some point in her flashbacks. She was a meek character for most of the book. I enjoyed the majority of the book save for the ambiguous ending.
Thanks to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Landmark for this eARC. The French Honeymoon is out now.

The French Honeymoon by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau is a fantastic thriller full of secrets, family drama, and clever twists.
Told from multiple points of view, this story will have you guessing the connections between the characters, and thrilled at the reveals. Each character is unlikable, but intriguing in their own ways, which make them unforgettable and absolutely readable.
It has been harder for me to read thrillers lately, as I’ve been needing happy escapes in my books, but this thriller didn’t weigh me down or make me want to scramble back to my other comforts. It was incredibly enjoyable, because the plot was clever and the unlikable and morally ambiguous characters were like catnip to me,
If you’re like me, a reader who typically loves thrillers, but has been standoffish lately due to life and the world, give this thriller a try. It just might pull you back into the dark, twisty, gray world of thrillers.
Thank you NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Landmark marketing and publicity team for reaching out and providing this advanced reader copy.

I really enjoyed this one! The thriller was gripping and had enough twists and turns throughout the story to keep me interested in the plot! I struggled with the characters in this one a bit, I found them a bit annoying and sometimes things felt a bit over explained. I also found the ending a bit loose so I didn’t really feel like the story got wrapped up as much as I had hoped for. Overall an enjoyable thriller that I definitely recommend trying out!

I recently read The French Honeymoon by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau, and while the premise intrigued me, the execution left much to be desired. The setup promised a thrilling ride, but unfortunately, it didn't deliver.
One of the main issues I had was with the pacing. Certain parts of the story dragged on, making it difficult to stay engaged. The characters were also a letdown; I found them all unlikable and hard to connect with.
As for the twists, they were disappointingly predictable. I found myself anticipating the plot developments well before they occurred, which diminished the suspense and thrill that the book aimed to provide.
Overall, The French Honeymoon had an interesting concept but fell short in execution. I would rate it 2.75 out of 5 stars.
Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In The French Honeymoon, two women end up in Paris, one on her honeymoon following a quick green card marriage and the other is there on her own, without luggage and in a suspicious way. I knew these two were related but I didn’t realize how until I got way into the book. What a ride. So twisted and so bonkers. It went in a direction that I did not expect.

Thank you NetGalley for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book was fine, nothing special. Some of the twists were a little surprising to me, but I could see others guessing them. I really wasn’t too invested and I probably wouldn’t recommend this to readers as there are so many other, better stories out there. I was able to finish the story, and it had twists until the last past but I wasn’t really hooked to the story or outcome.

Olivier and Cassie are on their honeymoon in France where Olivier was originally born and raised and unbeknownst to the to the happy couple they have a stalker who is following and shadowing their every move. Who is this mysterious threat? Will this trip be Honeymoon to forever Happiness or Honeymoon from Hell? Will any of these three people make it back to their lives in the U.S. or will an unexpected confrontation change the course of their lives forever!
This book was a fast and entertaining read from author ANNE-SOPHIE JOUHANNEAU. She captured the essence of Paris, France wonderfully as I could sense the sights, sounds and smells from her very descriptive writing as if I was actually there with the characters seeing and feeling the beauty of their surroundings, from the famous Eiffel Tower to the quaint little cafes and bakeries where I could easily taste the delicious French pastries and deserts plus visualize every site they visited along with my being able to imagine some customs and mannerisms of the people of France. I enjoyed the pacing, the quick chapters and the style of the writing for this book.
It was fun learning the backgrounds of each character and the many secrets of their past histories slowly revealed bit by bit. The storytelling was cleverly done and kept the book interesting and intriguing at times. The ending was just okay for me maybe a little rushed and understated for all heavy developments within the story although I could see a follow-up book continuing where THE FRENCH HONEYMOON ended leaving many questions left unanswered! I would love to read more books by this author and I recommend this story to all readers who enjoy engaging, dark, thriller/mysteries!

I really wanted to like this one more because the premise was interesting and there WAS an awesome twist; however, the pacing of this thriller was slightly off, and I would've enjoyed a more satisfactory ending.

"Sometimes Paris is a terrible idea."
"Sure, I’d done lots of shltty things, but I’d meant well, always."
Oh my goodness! The trippy twisty The French Honeymoon, by wild imaginative, let's keep them guessing to the end, author Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau, had me munching on popcorn, as I read each scene chewing character trying to destroy each other.
I'm going to give you the opening scenario with the caveat that this is a psychological thriller and these people are not just mentally damaged but often unreliable and unlikeable. Yet it's written with such an abandonment of charity, each one so focused on their own needs and wants, regardless of consequences for others, that getting to the end is a necessity. Do they pay for their misdeeds or are they rewarded for their tenacity to destroy anyone in their path to success?
Taylor checks into the honeymoon suite in Paris with no luggage or husband. She's distraught and frantic, until she spots Cassie and Olivier, obviously on their honeymoon. They're posting on Instagram, shopping in expensive stores and so in love. Taylor is so obsessed following them that she's shocked when she overhears them argue. Maybe they aren't so happy or in love!
I know you think you know this story, and you probably do...but Taylor is more than an unhinged stalker, and Cassie, well her objectives in this marriage are not about forever. As for Olivier, let's just say, he deserves everything he gets from this honeymoon.
I had so much fun reading this popcorn thriller. It's a Lifetime movie on steroids. Fair warning, the ending is a bit ambiguous but I have my idea on that bathtub scene. Please message your ideas! After all, French or not, we all have ideas about the perfect honeymoon.
I received a free copy of this book from Sourcebooks Landmark via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. Opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed reading this domestic thriller that is told from three pov's. The characters are all pretty unlikeable but the scenario is interesting . Lots of twists and turns with a ambiguous ending which kept me thinking about it long after I finished reading. I definitely look forward to reading more by this author. I highly recommend this one..
Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to read this awesome ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a page-turning read full of intriguing yet highly unlikeable characters. Told from multiple perspectives, this kept me on my feet and left me feeling voyeuristic in a way. I felt the tension building with each turn of the page. Atmospheric, suspenseful, and full character development, this was a twisty mystery leading up to a unique kind of ending. Four stars.
Thank you, Netgalley and Sourcebooks Landmark, for this ARC.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark for my copy of THE FRENCH HONEYMOON.
I really enjoyed this book even though it's full of awful people. I normally am really turned off by a book like that but this one kept me interested. The whole premise and the twist I saw coming but the ending.... the ending, I can't wait to talk to someone about this ending. I don't want to say anymore but wow. Still, I had fun so I recommend this one!

If you're looking for an easy, page-turning read and enjoy some suspense - this is a great choice!
All the characters were flawed, some more than others, and I found them all to be a little too self-involved. But I appreciate a story where there's not a clear "hero", even if there is a clear villain. I love a story with multiple perspectives and narrators and this story is told from three perspectives, with a couple twists along the way that would make a second read through a bit more interesting.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of slightly ambiguous endings, so know that if you're looking for a story to end with a neatly tied bow, you might feel like this one missed the mark.
Thank you Sourcebooks Landmark and NetGalley for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

The French Honeymoon has a gorgeous setting (Paris) but is a twisted story! I love the unreliabile narrator vibe this story has. Taylor is kind of (ok, totally) a voyeur. She is spying on this couple she becomes obsessed with. And she kind of (okay, totally) stalks them.
The story builds a little slowly for me. It was intriguing and really explores the actual reality of people's life, but there isn't much tension. Just a lot of stalking and voyeurism. You learn a LOT about the characters (obviously-stalking will lead to that), but it just builds information. Honestly, I didn't really like any of the characters either-they all have something about them that just irked me. Then ending hits you like a freight train! I liked the ending and it really fits with the overall story, but it took a long time to get there and then felt abrupt. But, overall, this was an interesting story with a good plot twist.

The first thing you need to know about the narrators in this book: none of them are very likeable. But I like a good, unreliable narrator and having three in one story kept me thoroughly intrigued. There were plot twists and turns (one that caught me completely off guard), an ambiguous ending that I’m not mad about because I keep thinking about it, secrets, lies, twisty complex characters, a side of love, dynamic settings, and of course some subtle and not-so-subtle manipulation. I can’t say too much more without giving spoilers, so I’ll just leave it with this: Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau’a debut adult novel was a complete hit for me!

I really ties to like this one, even tried to read it twice but it just wasn’t for me at this moment. I loved the premise but found it hard to keep track of everyone and what was happening.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark for the ARC of The French Honeymoon. What a wild ride this one was! I was not expecting how crazy and twisted it would be. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and was not ready for that crazy ending! I enjoyed the way the story was structured. It's been a long time since I disliked a character as much as I disliked Cassie. I appreciate when an author can create a character that is so unlikeable that I'm actually wishing them harm! This was a fantastic story and I highly recommend for those thriller lovers out there.

Thank you Sourcebooks for my gifted copy!
I usually steer clear of any book compared to Freida McFadden (sorry), but this one enticed me with its gothic cover. And I always judge a book by its cover.
I inhaled the first half of The French Honeymoon in one day. I could not get enough of the writing, the atmosphere, the character of Paris, the mystery, and the drama. I loved to hate one of our FMC, Cassie. God, she was deplorable and insufferable. I wanted her to shut up. And I enjoyed wondering what the heck was going on with our second FMC, Taylor. She seemed like a confusing mystery I wanted to solve. How did these two women connect?
Shortly after the half way point, the big twist is revealed and I immediately had to set this book down and do some mental gymnastics to figure out how the HELL the twist was possible. The last half of this book felt completely different from the first.
BUT.
It did have that bingeable Freida quality. Maybe it’s not the best quality, but you keep inhaling it because you need to know how it ends. That’s exactly how The French Honeymoon was for me. Though the twist made me skeptical and was a touch unrealistic (okay, extremely unrealistic), I still enjoy the way it ended, because it was a shocker. Not how I expected it to end in any way, shape or form.
