This was a wonderful thriller. I enjoyed the three POVs. I thought that worked really well for the story. I do like when there are multiple twists especially when I guess one. This was an enjoyable read. And I want yo go back to Paris soon! But not with these people.

Sadly DNF. did not care about these characters at all and reading Cassie’s POV was just painful. She is insufferable! There is no one to root for.

The French Honeymoon is told in multiple POV’s, from Taylor, Cassie and Oliver.
Cassie meets Oliver who has a French background and they each have their own agenda for deciding to marry. They take off to Paris for their honeymoon, a place where Taylor has always dreamed of going on her own honeymoon one day. Taylor finds a stash of cash and next she is also in Paris but alone and without a husband to enjoy it with. What happens next involves Taylor following Cassie and Oliver throughout their trip. Cassie is obsessed with Instagram and Taylor finds it very easy to keep track of the pair’s movements as they enjoy living it up in such a beautiful city.
Taylor is extremely jealous of Cassie as this is the honeymoon she had always dreamed of for herself and she feels that Cassie is getting to live the life she wanted. That is until a certain point in the trip when she overhears Cassie and Oliver fighting and realises that they are not the happily married couple Cassie has presented to all of her friends to be. But Oliver also has his own agenda and soon Taylor finds herself in a situation she never thought she would be and Cassie will not come out of this unscathed either. Betrayal, cheating and twists and turns that keep the story moving forward and I rather enjoyed this psychological thriller.
The ending raised my star rating and it will be for the reader to interpret what they have read and decide in your own mind how it all wrapped up.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions expressed are my own.

This had so much potential but was so slow and I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. I felt like nothing really happened and the premise just didn't deliver.

A fast paced and easy thriller to add to your TBRs!
This book kept me entertained and I sped right through it. I’m always a fan of multiple POV, and settings, so this book delivered there. The story wasn’t overly unique but it was well done. I would’ve liked a bit more closure at the end, just a longe epilogue perhaps. But overall, a read I would recommend!
Thank you to the publisher for the gifted ARC

I very rarely give up on a book, but this one not only did not understand and the. I reread some of it again it still was not fir me.

Very twisty! I enjoyed this book about two sets of people in Paris on their honeymoon. Visa fraud, romance and murder! It was an enjoyable book!

Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau's debut adult novel, The French Honeymoon, set to release in April 2025, is a psychological thriller that explores themes of love, deception, and obsession against the glamorous yet shadowy backdrop of Paris. The story follows a woman who arrives in the city under mysterious circumstances, carrying stolen money and no luggage. While trying to navigate her situation, she becomes increasingly fixated on a seemingly perfect honeymooning couple whose lives appear idyllic on social media. As her fascination deepens, she uncovers cracks in their carefully curated image, leading to dangerous entanglements and unsettling revelations.
The novel unfolds through multiple perspectives, gradually exposing hidden motives and secret agendas. The setting enhances the intrigue, contrasting Paris’s romantic atmosphere with the darker realities of the characters’ lives. While the pacing allows for detailed character development, some readers may find it slower than a traditional thriller.
This story offers a layered exploration of obsession and manipulation, drawing readers into a world where appearances can be deceiving. With its compelling premise and immersive setting, it will appeal to those who enjoy psychological thrillers focused on complex character dynamics. However, readers seeking a high-speed plot might find its pacing more deliberate.

The French Honeymoon is loaded with intensity, arm-gnawing tension and heart-pounding suspense. The first sentence mesmerized me and I became more and more spellbound as the story continued. I gulped it up as though stumbling upon a cool stream in a hot desert. Twists came from the right and the left and the ending is deeply gratifying. This was the perfect domestic thriller even though the characters were despicable. I don't know how the author managed to capture such depth of feeling and mystery in her words but she sure did! Beautifully. But what really got me more than anything else are the clever twists and small cast of characters, easy to follow.
Set mostly in Paris, details such as salted caramel macrons and tourist highlights give vacation vibes and transported me there in a nanosecond. Taylor arrives in Paris at a honeymoon suite, along with stolen cash. She is entranced by honeymoon couple, Cassie and Olivier, as they pose for social media. But something is not quite right with them. Taylor stalks them and makes further observations. She should be part of a honeymoon couple, especially in romantic Paris. But her jealousy is momentarily set aside as she sees the couple arguing. Meanwhile, Cassie and Olivier have an arrangement of sorts. They enjoy Paris but their honeymoon turns into disaster. As their pasts meld with the present, the atmosphere crackles with greed, jealousy and revenge.
Do be sure to read the author's fascinating notes at the back, especially about green cards and residency. I live on two continents so can relate to arduous residency laws. The author's inspiration for this book is super intriguing as well! I simply adored this book.

An impulsive woman keen on sparking jealousy and a man desperate for a green card meet and agree that a marriage would be mutually beneficial. As they set out for their luxurious French honeymoon- someone else trails them without their knowledge. The French Honeymoon is an entertaining domestic thriller with multiple POV’s and vivid descriptions of the (mainly) French setting.
It took me a while to catch onto what the stakes of the story would be– there is a lot of repetition describing the characters daily movements on their honeymoon without much action. The thriller elements start to reveal themselves around the half-way mark and my interest piqued. I enjoyed how the story played out and liked the ambiguous ending. This is a fun, quick read if you enjoy marriage and family drama and vacation mysteries.

I really wanted to love this one. The premise of a honeymoon going wrong and obsession quickly grabbed my attention. But the pace of the book was slow, I didn’t feel any connection to the characters, and then the ending just seemed rushed and too predictable.

An interesting, suspenseful thriller.
I initially thought Taylor had been jilted at the altar and that's certainly the feel you get to begin with. She's quite mysterious and you can't help feel sorry for her situation.
Cassie, on the other hand, is a terrible person. I don't know that she has any redeeming qualities and I found her quite annoying. To some degree I think her and Olivier deserved each other.
It's certainly an interesting story with a few good twists along the way! Reese was a bit of a surprise and I thought that was a clever addition!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
I have a lot to say with this one. Did I like the idea of the plot? Yes! Did I like the characters? Mostly… but I will say there was quite a few times where I wasn’t exactly sure what was happening or if I’d missed something or simply went to bed on the wrong chapter. I was having a hard time following the book just because there’s so many different povs and so much happening.
The plot twists were pretty good though. I gotta admit I was not expecting the big reveal at all and honestly might need to reread this to figure out the ending and also see if there are clues leading up to the big reveal. This one was interesting though and I could see this book doing really really well with the mystery/thriller community. I did enjoy the way this author describes things as well. She doesn’t use too many descriptive words but used just enough that I could see the book as I was reading which is one of my favorite things! I’m excited to talk more about this with other readers once it’s out because there’s SO much to discuss so definitely contact me if you read this!
Lastly thank you so much to the author and sourcebooks for this arc!

A Paris Honeymoon with a couple that overshares via online social media. Of course they do. That's how they catch the attention of one obsessed follower vicariously living her dreams through the Honeymooners, Cassie and Oliver. But wait, is there an unreliable narrator in the mix? That's the best part of the plot. Taylor, the cyber-stalker, turned IRL stalker might just be a bit unhinged. You'll have to read the book to see who is really unhinged in this slow burn mystery/suspense.
I was missing something that would give me the thriller vibe in all the nastiness of Cassie. Ultimately, I had to settle for suspense without the fireworks.

WOW! This book was insane! I really liked this twisty ass story, BUT how dare you insult Britney’s fragrance. lol but for real Britney is my GIRL! Anyway, this book had me like wtf is even happening right now so many times!!! But, it was SO binge worthy! Also the ending 😮😮😮😮😮😮 damn. Also loved the destination Paris background that was fun made me want to travel overseas! Such a fun twisted story!!!!

I absolutely love books set in Paris, especially when
they feature stunning locations, irresistible intrigue,
and characters who keep you on edge. This
psychological thriller is filled with twisted, self-serving
characters, making for a dark, tension-filled ride
through the City of Love.
From the moment Taylor Quinn arrives in Paris—alone,
broke, and fresh off a ruined relationship—the story
had me hooked. Her obsession with the seemingly
perfect couple, Cassie and Olivier, adds an intriguing
layer of voyeurism to the story. Cassie’s social media
presence makes it easy for Taylor to track their every
move, and as she falls deeper into their lives, it’s clear
that no one in this book can be trusted. The reveals
along the way, while somewhat predictable, still
managed to surprise me, and the tangled web of
deceit kept me thoroughly engaged.
While the first half of the book does a great job of
building suspense, I do wish the tension had been
heightened more in the middle. The final chapters felt a
bit rushed, and I would have loved a bit more buildup
to the climax. That said, that ending.. It had me
second-guessing everything. Open-ended yet
impactful, it left just enough room for interpretation,
which I actually appreciated.
One of the things I enjoyed most about The French
Honeymoon was how character-driven it was. The
book focuses solely on three main players: Taylor,
Cassie, and Olivier. Each of them has their own selfish
motives, and none are particularly likable.
The novel explores themes of obsession, jealousy,
deception, and the façades people create—both in
relationships and online. The contrast between the
dreamlike setting of Paris and the dark reality of these
characters’ lives made the story even more gripping.
The French Honeymoon is highly entertaining,
binge-worthy read.

I requested this book after seeing the description comparing it to The Paris Apartment (a book I love), which gave me high expectations that were not met while reading this lackluster thriller. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of the story is how basic and dull the language is. It could be a good choice for someone whose native language isn't English so they can read an accessible thriller, but for me, I suffered through it.
The characters (all unlikable) were one-dimensional. Olivier (desperate), Cassie (evil), and Taylor (pathetic) and they never changed throughout the book for me. The positives of this book are the descriptions of Paris--even if it's only touristic places mentioned. I also didn't see the big reveals coming, so I guess there's that. An easily digestible book and forgettable read.

The French Honeymoon definitely grabbed my interest, with the tagline, “Sometimes, Paris is a terrible idea”. Taylor Quinn finds herself on a non-honeymoon in Paris, and is following newlyweds, Cassie and Olivier. Taylor has been obsessing over Cassie’s picture perfect Instagram posts, but when she hears an argument between the couple she realizes things aren’t what they seem. All three of the characters have their own selfish agendas, and there are twists to be revealed, that will change all of their lives.
I really enjoyed The French Honeymoon’s psychological thriller storyline. The setting of Paris was a great backdrop for the story, and I loved the juxtaposition of the awful motives of the characters in a city that’s supposed to be all about love.
The story is told through the three main characters POVs, and I enjoyed the fact that the book just focuses on these three characters. They are all unlikable characters, but it works well for this type of psychological thriller. I did find myself sympathizing the most with Taylor’s character, because of her backstory and Cassie was my least favorite.
There are some good twists to the story, which aren’t too difficult to figure out, but I still enjoyed how they were revealed and how the characters agendas all came together. The book does have an open ending, which I actually thought worked well for this story. I have my own hope of how things ended, but I liked that Jouhanneau left it up to interpretation.
If you are looking for a quick thriller with questionable characters and a great international setting, then I would definitely recommend reading The French Honeymoon.

This book was just okay for me. I had a hard time following the story. Maybe it was just me. I kept wanting to hurry up and finish the book.

WOW.
I loved this book. An absolute page turner I couldn’t put down. It was a bit long for me though. I felt like there were some parts that could be cut out and pages I was skimming because the characters were telling us stuff we already knew.
The ominous open ending was SO smart. We’ll never know what happened and it’s left up to the reader to interpret!
