This is perfect for reading in between wrapping presents with a mug of hot chocolate and a biscuit. Mary Kay provides insight into relationships gone bad as well as ones that should have never been put together. Holiday Hideaway is a holiday themed short story from Mary Kay Andrews. In this quick read we meet Tilly who is squatting in one of the rental properties she manages while she waits to move into her new apartment. The unexpected arrival of George, the grandnephew of the owner who has recently passed away, has her scrambling to figure out where to go. Am unfortunate accident leaves Tilly needing to watch George and he realizes that he knows her from high school. He begins to think about his life in Boston and some changes might be coming. Holiday Hideaway is the perfect short story to get you into the Christmas spirit! It’s got everything you’d want in an MKA Christmas - Christmas carols, nostalgia for Christmas days of yore, snow, a dog, and a little bit of romance.

Tilly Farraday is feeling less than jolly this holiday season - she’s recently divorced, has no family nearby, and is squatting in one of the vacant rental properties that her employer manages. At least she thought it was vacant…

A few days in, the new owner shows up to get the home ready to sell, and Tilly is forced to hide in the attic. Can she hide from him long enough to not get caught and lose her job? It will take a Christmas miracle.

Feel good Christmas story told in true MKA fashion.. including a few curse words thrown in for good measure. Just wish it was longer.

The best short story ever! Pulls you in from the very first page. Quick light hearted read that will leave you wanting to know more about these characters. Tilley seems to be down on her luck and at the worst time. Christmas! George is making a quick trip to ready his grandfather's house to sale. It just happens to be the place Tilley is hiding out until it's time to move into her new apartment. The laughs our loud moments will have you smiling as you enjoy every page .

Trouble seems to find Matilda ‘Tilly’ Farriday without her even looking for it!

She left her husband six months ago, was kicked out of her apartment because of her cute dog, Smoosh, and her new place isn’t available until January.

That’s not all.

She’s resorted to trespassing; living in a vacant home belonging to Piney Point’s richest citizen, a 96-year-old miserable old man.

The worst part?

If she’s caught in ‘The Crowe’s Nest’, her ex-husband, Denis, who is the town sheriff, would be happy to lock her up.

Denis is the least of her worries - Sticks Holloway has returned to Piney Point.

This was a fantastic holiday novella exploring the humour of Christmas miracles! I was completely absorbed in the story and rooting for Tilly. I laughed and I swooned and concluded that this would make a great movie.

I can always count on Mary Kay Andrews to make me laugh!

I was gifted this copy by Amazon Original Stories and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

I picked this short (under 100 page) story when I was feeling a bit out of sorts. It did cheer me up.

Readers have to be willing to suspend disbelief but,if they do so, this is a fun read.

Tilly is no longer married and is facing some (temporary) housing issues. Her solution? Stay in one of the vacant properties that is on the books of the agency where she is employed. This works just fine until a tenant enters the house leaving Tilly and her dog fleeing to the attic.

This is how the stage has set for an enjoyable and witty holiday read. Since this is a seasonal story, readers can relax and enjoy waiting for the happy ending.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for this title. All opinions are my own.

I always enjoy Mark Kay Andrews books so I was excited to have the opportunity to preview this short story. I had a bit of a hard time getting into the story because I felt Tilly hiding in the attic was a bit far fetch with George in the house. I continued to read and the story and the characters progressed in a way that was heartwarming and entertaining.

Thank you Net Galley, Mary Kay Andrews and Amazon Original Stories for the opportunity to preview this title and the opinions shared are my own

This short story will be available October 29, 2024 just in time for you to cozy up by the fire with this Christmas story.

Holiday Hideaway by Mary Kay Andrews is a delightful holiday romance, brimming with charm and humor. Tilly Farriday, fresh from a divorce, retreats to a rental property, only to have her peace interrupted by the arrival of George Holloway. What ensues is a playful game of hide and seek as Tilly tries to stay unnoticed while George becomes suspicious of the unusual happenings. Although the story is brief, the ending felt a bit rushed, and I wished there had been more time (and pages) dedicated to the characters reconnecting and deepening their relationship. It would have been nice to see their bond develop further. 4 stars
Short, sweet, and so MKA! Reading Mary Kay Andrews is like drinking hot cocoa under a fluffy quilt. Comfort food in written form.

I giggled at the mention of Le Seuer peas. They were my dad’s favorite and the bane of my brother’s existence. He called them Little Sewer peas and they bring back happy memories.

MKA’s books are warm and cozy, with a little bit of quirkiness - they're like hanging out with a dear friend. .

Thank you NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for the digital ARC in return for an honest review.

Mary Kay Andrews never disappoints me. This is a cute short story holiday rom-com that you could read in an afternoon. As always the stories read like you're part of the action. The characters were relatable and I loved them. I would have read a regular full size book about them!

I thought this was super cute! I loved the hilarity of the story with a woman hiding in the attic of an old house when the owner arrives. This was very sweet.
