I give this story 3.5/5 stars. This was a cute and quick short story. I thought for what it was, it was great. I enjoyed the characters and loved that they had a history. The setting was hard to believe- our main female character is living in a rental property and goes a couple of days without the owner realizing she's there? Definitely had to suspend some belief there, but overall it was a cute story and is a perfect one to get you in the Christmas mood.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! Holiday Hideaway by Mary Kay Andrews is a cute rom-com. Tillie works in a summer rental agency. Having recently been divorced and between houses, she is squatting in a house which hasn't been rented out in over a year. The grumpy owner hasn't been in either. That is until his great-nephew walks in one day to get it ready to sell. Tillie is camped out in the attic with her dog and is afraid of being arrested for trespassing. Her fear is compounded by the fact that her ex-husband is the sherrif. Though a little far fetched especially with her escapades overnight, I found this quick read rather witty and humourous. Definetely a win in my book.

This was a super cute and unique holiday story. It’s a really quick read but there’s a lot in it! I really liked Tilly as a character and I’ve never read a book quite like this one. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

This is a fun short story from Mary Kay Andrews. Even though it is a short holiday story it is classic Mary Kay. She weaves a fun escape throughout the pages. In this story, Tilly is having a really bad holiday. She has recently divorced her husband and she has no money and even worse no place to live right now. She works for a rental company and there just happens to be an empty house. What could happen if she stays there for just a little while over the holidays while her new place becomes available. Well I'll tell you what could happen. The new owner shows up. George shows up with the intention of selling his newly inherited house. So what does Tilly do? Does she come clean? No! she hides. Can you imagine hiding in an attic? No bathroom or anything. Well I'm sure you can imagine the funny events that happen. Enjoy this fun holiday story.

MaryKay Andrews is an all time favorite, especially when it comes to reading in the holiday season. This quick little novella was delightful, and I wished it had been an entire book! A little mischief, a little missed communication, a little love. Perfect combination. Enjoyed every word.

This was so cute! I wish it was a full length novel, because I'd love to see more of Tilly and George! Was it a little rushed? Yes, but it was also only 70-something pages so that's to be expected. This is the perfect, fun, festive read!

This short story was absolutely adorable. I always go back to this author when I just want a cute comfort read. That is exactly what I got out of this one.

The whole premise was so cute, and I loved how it ended up being revealed that she was living in the house. I thought it was such a cute love story.

I love reading this author during the summer so reading a book that took place in the winter was a bit different for me. I can’t wait to pick up some more books by this author.

The Queen of Christmas does it again with this short holiday novella. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough. What a great way to kick of the Christmas season reading!

What a perfect holiday novella!

The story follows Tilly, who isn't feeling very festive. She's recently divorced and flat broke. Forced to "squat" in one of her rental agency's properties until her new place is ready, Tilly finds herself in a bind when the new owner shows up.

George is just there long enough to sell his Granduncles house and rethink his relationship with his fiancée'. Tilly dodges every invitation to meet him. She'd die if he knew she was squatting in the same house he's staying in!

Holiday Hideaway by Mary Kay Andrews

Rating: 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to Amazon Original Stories, Netgalley, and the author for access to this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a super fun, sweet, heartwarming holiday short story! Filled with cozy vibes, moments of laughter and joy, and made complete with a super cute romance between Tilly and George.

Tilly Farriday is dealing with a housing dilemma of sorts. Divorced and broke, Tilly decides to spend two weeks in one of her rental agency’s vacant properties until her new place is ready. The house hasn’t been rented out to anyone in a long time so she figures that’s her best bet. Then, things start to get super interesting. It just so happens that the owner’s great nephew, George Holloway has shown up.

Overall, this was a wonderfully written Christmas short story. The characters, plot, and the humor were impeccable. This is the perfect read to get in a holiday mood!

Holiday Hideaway🎄

Mini Review ⬇️

ARC - Pub Date Oct 29

I am not the biggest fan of short stories because they just always seem rushed but this was a cute little holiday read 😊

If you have previously loved MKA’s Christmas books you will enjoy this one as well and it’s the perfect start to this season’s reading!

A quick and breezy holiday short story that was okay but not great. It was a fun story about Tilly who gets caught squatting in a vacant home that the property management company she works for takes care of. George makes a trip back to his hometown after the death of his uncle to make repairs and sell the home. Through a series of events, Tilly and George bond, recall a connection they had in high school, and the rest follows the typical romcom format.

I like a bit more meat, and even a short story could have delivered it, but this one fell short for me. I have no regrets about reading it, as it is very quick and a great way to kill a little time, and the characters are very likable, but not memorable.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

The holiday season seems to go quicker each year. This short story by Mary Kay Andrews is the perfect length for a quick cozy romance when you don't have much time, but you still want something to get you in the holiday spirit.

Tilly is working in property rental and is squatting in a home (why not ... she knows its not rented and she has no where else for a couple weeks?). Enter the grand-nephew who just inherited it (with his sisters) and wants to get it ready to put on the market.

Very much what you would expect from Mary Kay Andrews. And I wouldn't miss it!

Many thanks from NetGalley, Amazon Original Stories and Mary Kay Andrews for the opportunity to review the advance read copy in exchange for an honest review. 72 pages. Publication date Oct 29, 2024 ... just in time for the holidays.
