This book has really impacted me. Callard satisfies both the interests of the casual reader and the rigor of the philosophy scholar and student. Her clear organization and style makes reading the book for your own purposes easy and insightful. While the in-depth analysis of the Socratic dialogues might be too much for casual readers, the internal synopses and recaps help readers digest the relevance and importance of Socratic ethics in contemporary life. The final chapter, on Death, was especially moving and you can tell how much the activity of philosophy means to the author. I'll be keeping this book close to my side.
