Overall the book was a fascinating look at how art and machinery (including computers and AI) have crossed paths at various points through history; many of the historical anecdotes I'd never heard of before which felt exciting ad fresh.

I appreciated how the author went back and forth between visual art and music as both are art forms "at risk" from AI's influence today, but at times the flow of the book felt disjointed as a result.

It was obviously a well researched book without feeling too academic. However, the disjointedness of it made it one that I consider a nice springboard into further research but not one I would necessarily seek out for a second read. Good premise, just a little rough around the edges in execution.

*The Uncanny Muse* dives into the fascinating dance between art and machines, from Victorian robot artists to today’s AI creations. David Hajdu offers a fresh take, showing how tech has sparked creativity instead of shutting it down. A must-read for anyone curious about the ever-blurring lines between human and machine-made art!
