Locked-room mysteries are so popular right now, it's hard for some books to be set apart from the others.
The premise for THE OTHER PEOPLE is a good one - but the character list is too long.
I had a hard time keeping up with each character and oh, the irony, when the beast admits at the beginning there are a lot of characters, right, and then info dumps more characters. I see he has a sense of humor, but it was too much.
Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for an e-copy of THE OTHER PEOPLE to read.
I rate THE OTHER PEOPLE two out of five stars.

This was not my type of story. I wasn't excited to read about any of the characters. The concept sounded really interesting, but the execution didn't work for me.

I love a good locked room mystery and The Other People was no exception! Full of fun twists and turns it kept me on the edge of my seat right to the last page!

The premise sounds so promising. The setup with the beast giving hints and talking to us seemed like it would have so much potential.
But I was bored and couldn't get into the story.

Ten strangers wake in a locked country house with no memory of arriving. To escape, they must solve the mystery of a missing girl while a killer hunts them. It’s a race against the clock to survive.
This definitely kept me entertained and guessing. There were good twists and the ending was totally unpredictable. I took a few stars off because I thought it could be a little shorter, some parts did drag, but all in all this was good and I would read other books by the author.
Thanks for the opportunity to read!

"Forget what you think you know. Because while you can trust yourself, can you really trust The Other People?"
The Other People takes place at a strange country house where a group of strangers end up at and they end up being in a race against time to stop a serial killer in this page turning thriller. This had me intrigued from the beginning and every twist in this book was so good. It was written well and the ending blew my mind away. Every character in this one had different personalities and each one had their hidden secrets. This locked room mystery is not what you think it's going to be. I loved this one a lot and would recommend to every reader especially to those that like mysteries or thrillers. Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for this read in exchange of my honest review of The Other People by C.B Everett .

I didn’t love a lot of things about this. I found it confusing with the amount of characters to keep up with, repetitive and just wasn’t for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
When reading e-ARCs, I try my best to finish the entire book and list pros and cons to give a comprehensive review. I must be honest and say this book was difficult for me to finish and I did not enjoy it. I feel like my review is going to be mostly negative, but this is simply the truth.
Pros: The ending! This was the only part I liked.
Cons: The characters are all horrible people and I didn’t care about any of them. I especially disliked Ramona and the character with the baby- what the heck was that all about?! Their relationship happened way too quickly and it wasn’t believable, and it really bothered me.
There’s so many books out there these days and I just didn’t see the point of this. It’s been done many times before, and better at that.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book! At this time I will not be reading or reviewing. I will update if I do read in the future!

The Other People us a wild ride. A group of strangers wakes up in a manor house thats locked up tight. They need to find where a kidnapped girl is being held by a serial killer before she suffocates.
The classic murder mystery premise descends into horror as one by one each meets a terrible fate.
The trope is skillfully upended and the pace kept me guessing how it would resolve, and not a minute too soon.

I loved the concept of this book, but it seems a bit overdone and it didn't truly capture my attention. I didn't find myself reaching for this one wondering what was going to happen. I also feel like I caught on towards the end as to what it was that had happened. I enjoyed it but I feel like it was a missed opportunity to redo this story in a really neat way.

Get set to go on a roller coaster ride in this thriller as a group of strangers embark to stop a killer. With so many twists and turns, one is left up late at night, cruising into the next chapter. Although there are some weird scenes and questions about the plot in the beginning, it turned out to be a decent novel. The idea of several strangers locked in a house looking for a killer is way different than anything I have read. It took a little longer to connect with the characters until I was way into the story. This was an unusual take on a mystery, but very entertaining. If you are looking for a different perspective on a thriller, this is a great place to start.

What did I just read? This book is described as Agatha Christie-esque so I was expecting something much different than I read. More horror than I expected and too many characters. I felt like it jumped around plot wise and just didn’t love it.

Attempted both the ebook and audio version of this book a few times and just could not get into the story. It did not hold my attention or pull me in from the start. This may be one I go back to in the future but for now it is going on my DNF shelf.

I immediately related this story to the Agatha Christie book And Then There We’re None, but the. The story feared where there were unexplainable things happening… pictures changing, bodies disappearing quickly, food appearing etc that led to the idea of something more weird. The final explanation was kind of a twist but not really satisfying.

This novel follows a group of ten strangers locked in a mysterious house full of secrets. The characters are tasked with finding a young woman hidden in the house before time runs out and the serial killer gets to them. As they attempt to reckon with their situation and find this woman, the characters are being killed off one by one, based on their greatest wish. It's best to go into the story without any additional det
This book has many characters with different personalities, making it an interesting story. The mystery kept me guessing until the end, and the reveals were spaced nicely.
Unfortunately, this novel was not very captivating initially, so it took a while for me to read it. Once I got in, it moved faster, and I finished rather quickly, but I was dissatisfied with the ending. I found it a bit too gory, but I am very squeamish.
Readers who enjoy a good locked-in thriller with twisted characters would love this novel. This book was not for me, but I am sure others will adore it.

Honestly didn’t like this book.
Just way too much going on and way too many characters. Just hard to keep everything straight and who was where etc.
Thank you NetGalley for the copy

I had high hopes for The Other People, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite deliver. The premise sounded intriguing, but the execution felt a bit messy. Characters lacked depth, and the plot dragged in places. It’s not terrible, but it’s also not engaging enough to keep me hooked. If you're looking for a quick, light read, it might be okay, but overall, I was somewhat disappointed. Wouldn’t rush to recommend it.

This theme is getting overused. I enjoyed this book but it's predictable. The characters were ok but no one really stood out to me. A group of strangers gathered at a mysterious country house are in a race against time to stop a serial killer in this twisty, high-concept thriller that combines Agatha Christie with Shutter Island. Ten strangers. An old dark house. A killer picking them off one by one.
And a missing girl who’s running out of time…
And then there was one.
Ten strangers wake up inside an old, locked house. They have no recollection of how they got there. In order to escape, they have to solve the disappearance of a young woman. But a killer also stalks the halls of the house and soon the body count starts to rise. Who are these strangers? Why were they chosen? Why would someone want to kill them? And who—or what—lurks in the cellar?
Forget what you think you know.
Because while you can trust yourself, can you really trust The Other People?

If you are looking for something entertaining with a fast pace and a solid ending, I recommend The Other People. I enjoyed it a lot.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the ARC of this book.
