This was a fun short read. It is a bit predictable but still enjoyable.
Allie is a romance author and Martin writes crime novels.
Allie is likeable and relatable, very realistic character with flaws.
Martin is older and grumpy, he’s been around the book world longer.
Both authors are struggling with what to write and they decide to switch plots. Allie will write a crime book and Martin will write romance.
The book gives great insight to the chaos of writing a book. All the little things that as a reader you don’t even think of.
This would be a great pallet cleanser book. It is lighthearted and funny.

I really wanted to like this book. There were aspects of it that I *did* like, such as how is depicts the difficilties writers go through during the writing process, dealing with editors and publishers, and the more public-facing requirements of the job. There were aspects that I *didn't* like, such as the fact that it was really kinda boring. Everything was very straightforward, there were no realy conflicts, and Will (the MMC) was just too perfect.
I did love Allie and Martin's relationship. It was a twist on the classic grumpy/sunshine dynamic, and I really enjoyed their interactions and how they learned to appreciate and trust one another.

I received a free copy of The Plot Twist by Eleanor Goymer, from the publisher and netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I found it a little bit hard to get into this book initially. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It's not a life changing book but, it's a cute read.
Some spoilers ahead -
Allie is a best selling author who is currently suffering from writer's block. She joins forces with another author Martin, who also has writer's block and they share ideas on writing. I really enjoyed the relationship between Allie and Martin, it was lovely to see a friendship form between these two.
I did find parts of this book predictable, such as Allie's romance with Will I guessed quite quickly that he was Martin's son Liam and that he would be owner of the catering business.
I did find some of the writing a bit repetitive but it was mainly the use of 'ha bloody ha'.
I found myself being more interested in the relationship between Martin and his wife Angie, rather than Allie and Will.

I really enjoyed this book, however I did find it hard to read sometimes as there were a lot of paragraphs that were enormous so might be worth reviewing breaking some of them up at some point? But I did really enjoy the story and was really happy with how it ended.

Enjoyable read and good story; but failed in execution. Chapter 1 is already a red flag when it is 45 pages long, I have never read a book where over 11% of the book is the first chapter - it was a struggle to carry on reading.
If you enjoy books about authors and the problems they may encounter when writing; this is the story for you. I am struggling to write this review because I did enjoy the story but overall there were to many issues to give the book more than 2 stars. My goal this year has been to finish reading books if I don't hate them, so I did push myself through this book to finish but perhaps that could have been a mistake.
The characters lack development throughout the story and Will keeping to himself during the dates put me off. There wasn't really any chemistry between the characters, the story lacked the romance.
Furthermore, the writing style was rather confusing and often scenes were cut short.

Misunderstood identity
Strangers to lovers
Setting: London
This started off really strong for me. I enjoyed the premise (writers block, loveless relationship, meets stranger and has immediate connection). As the story continued, I felt Allie lacked the emotional maturity of a mid to late 30 year old. This story would have been more believable if she was mid 20s. I don’t want to spoil the plot so I won’t go into detail here.
I will say I loved her friendship with Martin, outside of how she talked down to him.
Allie paints herself as a horny and cheeky gal, but this is closed door 0 spice and created a disconnect in the chemistry between Allie and Will.
Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins/OneMoreChapter for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a great book! I absolutely loved how cute and funny this one was! I was totally engrossed from beginning to end and would definitely read from this author again, So, so, so good!

I had great fun reading this! It was an easy read with great characters and fast pacing. I loved the idea of the two characters switching novels and the added romance was also great for the story.
Whilst the story was a bit predictable at times, it was still fun to read.
This would make the perfect February read!

Cute but overall the pacing felt off. I enjoyed the beginning and the very end but the middle dragged. The main character, Allie, was often frustrating and I couldn’t understand the choices she made. Too much miscommunication between all characters involved.
I thought the relationship between Allie and her writing mentor/partner Martin was so sweet. But while that relationship developed, the romantic relationship between Allie and Will was not as prominent and thus fell a little flat because we really didn’t get that many scenes with the two of them.

This story started out very interesting and it kept me hooked for a long time. Unfortunately I started to get a little bored towards the ending, even though the ending itself was pretty cute. Still a nice romantic read!

The Plot Twist by Eleanor Goymer is a light and cozy romance with a fun premise. Allie, a romcom author with writer’s block, teams up with crime novelist Martin to swap stories, leading to an unexpected mentor-mentee bond. While I enjoyed their dynamic, I felt the romance between Allie and Will lacked depth and chemistry. Some characters, like Angie and Tessa, stood out, but Allie’s decisions were sometimes frustrating. The story was predictable but still an enjoyable read. If you love sweet, feel-good romances with a touch of humor, this book is a nice choice for a relaxing read!

(3.5)Thank you for the arc!! I did really enjoy this book. It was a very uplifting cute romance book. This book is about Allie a writer that is struggling through witter block. And her struggles on the way to try to write the perfect story.

This is a really well-written book surrounding a romance author who is struggling to write, and the paths she takes for inspiration. One of those inspirations is Will, and boy are their interactions swoony! The only negative thing I could say about this book is that I want more interactions with Will, but that's really because I'm greedy. It wraps up really well! Maybe I just want a sequel *hint hint*.
I really liked Allie. You know when you want to yell at the main character? I really only felt that way a couple of times, but not in a ragey-way, just a light frustration. Most of the book was spent with me fully engaged with Allie's life and highs and lows. I had a lot of fun reading this!
The character development in The Plot Twist is really good. The story is from the perspective of Allie, and a few people that orbit her current situation/life. Even though some of the side characters' interactions with Allie were brief, I genuinely felt like I understood their personality and involvement in the plot. Martin, her writing buddy, is such a fun one too! Their dynamic is punchy, feisty, and intelligent.
I highly recommend this feel-good read!
Thank you NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, and One More Chapter for this ARC!

I dont know, I didnt entirely mesh with this book. I think the POVs confused me. But I will check out more from this author

I think I mostly did this a disservice as I just finished a really good romance that kind of set this up for failure otherwise I think this would've been okay! like most of the reviews I think this is a really easy plot to catch on to pretty quickly but I did like the addition of the side-romance and rekindling; it's a really lovely reminder that love is not just copy and paste HOWEVER that sentiment is a little undermined by the total predictability of the main romance in the book which follows a pretty standard format. Not that any of these things are bad, it just isn't the best one I've read and I think because of that I didn't like it as much as I could've

I really loved the premise of this book. I think the plot was great and had so much promise, but for me it wasn't executed as well as it could have been.
I really enjoyed the mentor relationship between Allie and Martin, However, I think too much time was spent on this relationship and it left the relationship between Allie and Will lacking. There was very little time spent on Allie and Will's relationship. There were a few scenes between the two of them, but they were pretty short, and lacked any real chemistry between the two.
I also struggled a bit to connect with Allie herself. I found some of her decisions a bit baffling and I feel she read a lot younger than she was supposed to be.
This definitely wasn't a bad book by any means, but it just didn't really work for me personally.
Thank you to netgalley for my ARC.

The Plot Twist follows bestselling author Allie, who finds herself in the midst of a writing slump. As she struggles to reignite her creative spark, she embarks on a journey of rediscovery—both in her writing and in other aspects of her life.
The premise immediately drew me in, but unfortunately, the execution fell flat. The romance, in particular, felt lackluster, and as much as I wanted to be invested, I just couldn’t connect with it.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

generally pretty good! i loved Angie, Tessa, and Verity, they were very cool characters. Allie and Martin were fine if a bit static, but i found Will underdeveloped. 3.5 stars, rounded up. tysm for the arc.

The Plot Twist by Eleanor Goymer is truly a cozy meet cute with all the things you could want in a fun romance story. Like most romance novels, we have two lovable characters who run into some misunderstandings, but ultimately get their happy ending and I’m here for it! This book is wonderfully written, and still managed to feel new and fun to read cuddled up in a blanket. I would consider this a perfect “pick me up” book!

This book had a lot of heart and some very sweet moments, but ultimately suffered from a lack of chemistry between the main characters. I love a romance about writers, so that was a fun premise. Unfortunately, the main characters came off as fairly immature. There was some fun banter but I didn’t really feel like we got to see them connect on a deeply satisfying level because of the convoluted plot. I hope to read this author’s next book because there was definitely some potential here!
