I had high hopes for this book based on its description, but I had some problems with it. I loved the beginning with the fog surrounding the town and the mystery behind it, but I just couldn't connect with the characters. There was a disconnect between their words and their actions, and the dialogue didn't really flow very well. It felt a bit choppy. I liked the last 1/3 of the book better, but it still had problems.
Because I love the idea behind the book, I'm giving it 3/5 stars.

When I first got this, I was super excited about the book. But unfortunately, I'm no longer interested in reading it at this point and I don't want to hold onto it any longer.

This starts off setting up an incredible idea but the execution was sorely lacking, from the stilted dialogue to the amateurish writing. These things lead to making it incredibly difficult to connect to the characters and the world. Somehow, I still managed to keep reading and finish it even though this story was unremarkable and doesn't lend itself to the rest of the series.
