This entire series is perfection. As a public school teacher who writes on the side, the accuracy was chefs kiss. I love Alexis Daria and everything she creates!!

I have been anxiously awaiting this book and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint! I loved this series so much and this was such a fitting end. The personal growth of both characters was so satisfying, and I loved watching them find their love for each other. Also, so steamy!!!! I loved it!

I have really loved the Primas of Power series and this is the perfect cherry on top of a great series!

Ava is a school teacher who is divorced - which rocked her very tight-knit (or meddling, you choose) family. On the day her divorce is finalized, she meets Roman, the man who owns the hotel she is staying in for a conference, and has an uncharacteristic one night stand. He falls for her and gives her his number...but she insists this is a one time thing. Over the course of the next few months, Ava booty-calls Roman when something goes wrong in her life - usually something around her ex-husband. Roman, who is infatuated, hopes for more. One day, they realize they are the best man and maid of honor in Ava's cousin Jasmine's wedding (Roman was on a telenovela with the groom once). Roman is ecstatic with the thought of going public, but Ava insists on hiding their relationship away from her family - who will have thoughts!

Roman is an amazing book boyfriend. I loved him so much. Ava's fear of her family was frustrating for me.

I also LOVED the epilogues, seeing the primas over the next few years. What a treat!

This is my favorite of the Primas of Power series! I loved Ava and Roman's relationship development in coming to better understand themselves and each other. Roman is a model for being an amazing listener and learning as he goes. Ava is a perfectionist who learns to give herself more grace. They complement each other beautifully! It's very spicy throughout the book, and there is a nice resolution to all of the cousins' stories by the end! Overall a great read, but do read the first two in the series before to get the most out of this book! All are great!

This book is sexy, sweet, very deep & such a beautiful read.

Roman is truly a dream and Ava’s journey was so powerful to read. The way she transforms from a divorced people pleaser who is denying herself happiness to a strong individual who no longer has a “resting pleasant face” was amazing to follow along. I was rooting for her from the very first page.

Although I haven’t read the first two primas of power books (I definitely will be now!) this book was still such a fantastic read even as a stand alone. I feel like it gives you enough information about the family dynamics and characters that you can truly pick up any of these books and jump right into their world.

I enjoyed every second of reading this book and can’t wait to go back and read Gabe and Michelle’s , and Jasmine and Ashton’s romances.

Also bonus points from me for an FMC from the bronx (as a born & raised Bronx girl - I loved every reference made to the Bronx)

Thank you Avon & Harper Voyager for this earc!

EXCUSE ME! This was so good.

I loved everything about this book. The romance was TOOO good and I related to Ava on such a deep level.

A man obsessed is my favorite type of man. Roman is a was gone for her the moment he met her and I ate up every second of it. He yearned for her like a man should!!!

I was in the mood to an easy romance so this was an enjoyable read. I feel for the FMC. A lot of women get stuck in similar cycles. I kind of wish her ex had more redeeming qualities, he seemed like and easy way out villain and usually relationships are more complex than that. I do like when the guy falls first but I also think they had some kinda insta love. Ok now for my real critique - the FMC is at some sort of educator conference during the school year that her work payed for and she's a middle school teacher for a low income school....that's some real fantasy storytelling right there. Back to reality - easy read, authentic voices, the author doesn't beat you over the head with Spanish translation, character growth 3.5 stars

The last book of The Primas Power delivered a complex secret relationship romance that was nuanced, complex, and sizzling hot.

Ava is recently divorced and not looking for a serious relationship. After the trauma of not only being left by her ex-husband Hector -and having to take the action of initiating and finalizing the divorce.- Her family has made her feel like she was the one to blame for her divorce, not only that her parents sending her to live with her grandparents after their divorce greatly contributed to her abandonment issues, with the idea that she must be "good" otherwise she won't be loved. She says yes to everything her family asks, regardless of whether she has the emotional capacity to handle it. For this one time she just wants to let loose.

In comes a handsome workaholic hotelier, Román, who can learn about a thing or two about letting go. As his work is his life even though he feels responsible for his family. His home life is not nearly as messy as Ava's, his mom and sister live with him, and he is working through the idea of them both moving out soon -his sister is going to college, and his mom also insists on moving out.- He is a problem solver (just another brand of people pleasing) and is always jumping to action.

The romance between these two burns fast, in a situationship that lasts for almost a year before they finally agree to give the secret relationship a go. Not because Román doesn't want to, he would have married her the second time they were together if it was up to him LOL (he is a tad bit impulsive), Ava on the other hand wanted to keep their relationship hush, hush because her family is just so gossipy, and she didn't want to submit to their scrutiny. With her being the maid of honor at her cousin's Jasmine and Ashton's wedding and Román being the best man, well things got complicated.

For me personally, this wasn't a read in one sitting type of romance, the toxic family dynamic was difficult for me to overlook without having to sit with my feelings for some time to process how I was feeling. At times, I wanted to shake Ava for being so flighty with Roman and for continuing to agree to do things for other people in her family that went above and beyond.

I love how they came together and learned how to communicate and sort of meet in the middle, Roman was a risk-taker and wanted to jump into things, yet was incredibly patient with Ava's hesitancy.

On behalf of Ava, I will not forgive Esperanza (her abuela) for sending her pictures of her ex the day of what would have been their wedding anniversary. She did so many things that were uncalled-for. I just don't like her.

I loved the destination wedding (Jasmine and Ashton) and the involvement of Ava and Roman in making it happen. That brings me to the representation of Puerto Rico in Along Came Amor. You can tell that Daria did her homework and made sure she was sensitive as to how she approached putting the spotlight on Puerto Rico.

I recommend this book for those who might like: secret relationships, millionaire adjacent romance, teacher x hotelier, a love interest that is down bad for the MC, strong family bonds (those primas power), and a lot of family drama

I can not say enough how much I just adored this story. The way that Ava and Roman's love story unfolded was jut beautiful, this might be my favorite couple out of the series. There is something about a woman being loved properly after leaving a toxic marriage that just has me jumping for joy. As with the other Prima's of Power Ava was insistent on keeping her love to herself which drove me crazy, but the way that their family is?? I would be fighting with them left and right. I love Ava's progression and the way she came into herself in this story. The way she was able to stand up for herself and decide she was going to take ahold of her life was great (even though she was kinda forced to at the end cause that microphone did her dirty lol).

Now Roman, I could write a whole book on him alone. Something about men named Roman or Rome that are always top tier men. We love a billionaire man that wants to do whatever in his power to make his woman's life easier. Loved Ava finding someone that loved her boldly and maturely. There's something to be said about relationships that are born out of two people not wanting to be in a serious relationship but realize they can't live for eachother. I eat it up everytime. 10/10. Will now be reading anything and everything this author chooses to write.

Instant chemistry! Ava's a recent divorcee whose uninterested in romance until she meets Roman, and a spark ignites! This is a sweet, engaging story that I couldn't put down! Perfect for a day at the pool or the beach.

At long lost, Along Came Amor by Alexis Daria is finally here. The third book in her Primas of Power trilogy, this one follows Ava after her divorce is finalized. In the midst of trying to make some changes in her life, she meets Roman at a bar and begins a months-long occasional relationship that no one knows about. But when they find out that they’re the maid of honor and best man in a wedding, Ava is even more determined to keep her family from finding out.

What I Liked:
- Ebb and flow. More than any romance I’ve read before, Along Came Amor allows these characters a lot of time to gradually flourish early on. From October until June, Ava and Roman only see each other on occasion, starting off only with sexual chemistry, but later developing into true emotional intimacy. I appreciate that they had that extra time and natural coming together and pulling away. It fits Ava perfectly and sets up the rest of their relationship so well.
- Their complementary personalities. Ava is so prone to overthinking, worrying, planning, helping, hiding her emotions… and she takes her time with everything. Roman is the opposite: He’s decisive, open, and rushes into things. I loved them both, but I especially felt for Ava.
- Addressing toxicity and trauma. Ava’s family is very overbearing, demanding, and frequently toxic. So much of Ava’s fear comes from how the family has treated her, but I appreciate how she learns to speak up and be confident in herself. Roman is so great about supporting her in all of that and even in showing her how family can be so much kinder.
- Friendships and prima sisterhood. Okay, I just love how Roman and Ashton (and later, Gabe) are such a fun friend group. Ashton was so funny here! And true to the series name, the three primas eventually get their time to shine together. I enjoyed getting to see the three couples interact leading up to Jasmine and Ashton’s wedding.
- That epilogue! I love how the book (and series) wraps up and offers glimpses of all six characters in the future. It brought tears to my eyes!

Final Thoughts
Along Came Amor is my favorite Alexis Daria book so far, and such a beautiful way to end the Primas of Power series. Even though this book is over 500 pages, which is long for a romance, it never felt too long. Rather, it had exactly as much space for the emotions and characters to develop as they needed to. I loved Ava and Roman and their more mature, gentle, but still steamy love story. Though I’m sad to see the series end, I’m excited to keep reading more from Alexis Daria.

“The best kind of happily-ever-after. Their life wasn’t perfect. But it was theirs. And that was more than enough.”

The end of the Primas of Powers and O.M.G. This was such a fantastic book and closer to this story. Ava’s journey mentally with her relationship with family, love, relationships, and trust was so raw and vulnerable and a little too real at times. Too many moments felt like dialogue from my own brain.

Roman. The man that you are. I fear he is the best love interest of the three and I was not expecting it. The love and patience and communication between Roman and Ava was so well done. I love how while they did have conflict, it took place scattered across the book in ways that felt realistic and good for the progression of their story.

The second half of this book is truly what sold me on how amazing it was, the declarations of love, Ava standing up for herself to her family, and Roman’s conversations with him mom about his past all tied together beautifully. Those following years in the epilogue were bitter sweet and a great way to conclude a wonderful journey.

Along Came Amor is the latest title from Alexis Daria and the third and final book in her Primas of Power series. Given that it’s been a minute since the last book in this series came out (almost 4 years to be exact), it took some doing for me to reacquaint myself with the series and the large cast of characters.

This story features a sexy romance between recently divorced school teacher Ava and wealthy hotelier Roman, one that begins with a no strings attached fling and turns into a full-fledged love affair. But, as with the other two books in the series, the journey to their HEA is not without some twists and turns…and a whole lot of secrets.

Ava, reeling from her divorce, has a lot of baggage. And I’m glad that the book mentions that she’s in therapy because a lot of her issues stem from the trauma related to childhood abandonment and neglect by her own parents and the ongoing emotional abuse she suffers at the hands of her frankly toxic extended family. I can’t recall the first two books in this series with any great clarity to compare how toxic they were towards the first two FMCs in the series but the way they treat Ava in this book is so horrible that I disliked every last one of them, from her incredibly judgmental abuela to her neglectful father to her stepmother who treats her like a servant there to do her bidding.

Now, I’m going to be honest: Ava’s father’s side of the family is Puerto Rican and perhaps some of this toxic and misogynistic behavior is cultural. I really have no way of knowing but being South Asian, I can somewhat relate to the judgmental behavior exhibited by her interfering, nosy family and the way they treat Ava with such disdain and condescension. (Please note the heavy emphasis on the words somewhat).

They blame her for a divorce that wasn’t her idea, think she should just apologize to her ex-husband to get him back even if she didn’t do anything wrong, and basically think she’s a failure because her marriage didn’t last. There is a LOT of toxic, abusive behavior and Ava’s issues of abandonment have conditioned her to believe that she needs to be perfect to earn her family’s love and acceptance. She bends over backwards to help them out with anything they need, is essentially always at their beck and call, and never ever speaks up for herself. Basically, she’s made herself into their doormat/emotional punching bag and has big issues with drawing boundaries.

Enter Roman, the wealthy hotelier that Ava unexpectedly embarks on a secret fling with in an effort to have something that’s just her own. She’s insistent that her family can never know about him because their interference will only cause more problems and unnecessary drama. With Roman, she can be fully herself, open up about her heartbreak, her dreams and fears, and yet, she also has no problems drawing strict boundaries with him or speaking up for herself. Initially, she uses him as a coping mechanism to heal from her divorce and the ugliness of her family dynamics but to her everlasting surprise, her family life and her secret affair collide when he’s revealed to be the best man in her cousin’s wedding and she’s the maid of honor. (The bride and groom in question are the main couple in the first book in the series, a delightful soapy romance featuring two actors co-starring in a telenovela).

As much as Eva insists on ending things with Roman now that her worlds have collided, she finds herself unable to stay away, drawn to his caretaking nature and the way he’s always willing to drop everything to spend time with her. He listens to her, pays attention to her, values her opinions, never judges her, and most importantly, he knows how to apologize when he messes up. He also falls first and falls harder and declares his love for her well before she does. I should also mention that they have a lot of super hot sex – this book is packing some serious heat.

The main issue in this book is really about Ava, her inability to trust that she’s someone worth loving and her inabilithy to draw strict boundaries with her family being the real hindrances to their HEA.

Obviously, since this is a romance, there is a HEA but the way things resolve with Ava and her family seem a little too quick and halfhearted. Roman desperately wants to stop hiding their relationship and for Ava to stand up to her family and the way that all unfolds is more accidental than anything else, forcing Ava to confront her family over their mistreatment of her. While I loved Ava getting everything off her chest, I wish she had chosen to do it rather than having it be forced on her by circumstances beyond her control. And then the way a lot of her family just shrug off her feelings or wave them away feels really disrespectful. Also, I really disliked her stepmom, and I’m thrilled her half-sister called her out for her behavior towards Ava. I’m glad she did have some people in her corner who had her back and supported her.

There’s another scene featuring male strippers that is both hilarious and a bit awkward and involves Roman giving Ava’s mom a lap dance (yes, you read that right) and I’m not sure that scene was entirely necessary or furthered the plot in any significant way (or, at the very least, that lap dance with her mom felt super odd and really unnecessary).

I wouldn’t say this is my favorite book in the series, that award goes to the very first book but I did like it way more than the second book in the series and the epilogue giving us a down the line look at Ava and Roman’s relationship was a really lovely way to close out the series.

Ava meets billionaire Roman Vasquez on the day her divorce is finalized. She has a one night stand with him, which she thinks is all she wants. There’s no way she is ready to jump into another relationship. Plus, introducing him to her nosey family would be a nightmare. But- she finds herself texting him for more steamy times when she has a bad day. Ava can be herself with him, but they have to keep it a secret.

I enjoyed this book- for the most part. Ava focusing and comparing everything to her marriage got a little old and monotonous. But, I did love Roman! He is so into Ava and the way he takes care of her/wants to spoil her is so swoony. He is so patient and kind to Ava.

I enjoyed this story a lot, and specifically how each of the main characters were very well developed. They had their own reasons for acting and responding and in their own ways during relationship discussions, arguments, etc. It felt very real. I can't help but feel like other aspects of their story and relationship were a bit rushed though.

People-pleasing Ava decides to celebrate after receiving notification on the finalization of her divorce. As she's at a conference, she heads down to the hotel bar for a drink that leads to her first one night stand. Yet, a few months later, she follows up on the card he gave her. Spicy story with a very relatable heroine who needs to stand up for herself. The cultural component of the story adds to the depth and interest. This was the third in the series and whetted my interest in reading the first two books.

What a great book! And I’m not even going to lie, I was kind of excited it started with a divorce and a one night stand. As someone a little older than most of our favorite female book heroines, and as someone who has also been divorced and found love again, this book really resonated. Definitely start with the beginning of the series because I didn’t and wish I had. Honestly, though I feel like I followed along just fine.

This is going to be the perfect summer beach read/romance. Pick it up immediately.

Thank you NetGalley, Avon and Harper Voyage, and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

This is the third book in a romance series and is told from the third perspective from both Ava and Roman.

Ava is suffocated by the pressure to be perfect and live by the standards of her big family, most of whom always have something to say. Roman is a fixer and a workaholic, who barely has time for himself.

The two meet by chance and watching their relationship develop was fun. They have a steamy and healthy relationship that was refreshing to read.

At times they didn’t seem on the same page, but I think their individual wants and fears about their situation were real and I get where they were both coming from in their own respects.

This book delivered on providing a steamy romance, but the author also gave us fleshed out characters who had their own internal battles to work through in a relatable way.

Read this for:
🥃 Secret Fling
🥃 Destination wedding
🥃 He falls first
🥃 A reinvention of self
🥃 Billionaire romance vibes
🥃 Family drama

OVERALL
Overall, I give this a 4.5 out of 5 stars. This book was entertaining and steamy with gems about life. I highly recommend it and I’ll be reading the others.

This was my first book by Alexis Daria and it certainly won’t be my last. I love when I find books that have characters with really relatable qualities, Ava is literally me. I used to be such a people pleaser and heavily cared about what my friends and family would think it would get in the way of some relationships. The amount of patience Roman had and the way he listened and truly cared for Ava was just swoon worthy. My only issue was the secrecy of the relationship because girl WE love him stop playing!
after reading this I fully intend on reading the other books in the series.
