McConahay is undoubtedly a great writer, and this story is beautifully written. I enjoyed the storytelling and the emotion, but I felt that it was too short for me to really latch onto many of its best parts, including the complicated friendship. This one felt lacking to me but was also on the cusp of something great, so I'll definitely look to read more from this writer.
