As a person who often feels beaten down by the endless parade of competition in my suburban, parenting phase of life, parts of this were refreshing. However, some of it was a little too angry/intense for my taste. I think it is simply a matter of taste and what kind of comedy a reader enjoys, but occasionally it felt too heavy-handed for me.

This book really wasn’t for me, unfortunately.

I found the author’s style almost instantly unlikeable and overly aggressive. Yes, I know the title of the book might indicate the style but there was something about the way she almost attacked the reader early on (not to mention including her parents in the initial list for the spelling of her name…) that just didn’t help me warm to her.

I persevered, hoping I would find the anecdotes funny.

The author and I are from different worlds. She’s married with children, living the suburban life, cringingly refers to her husband as ‘the Hubs’ (I think mine would divorce me if I did that, even ironically), and has a cleaning lady. We are not the same, and it made it difficult for me to relate to her and the stories.

I can see how certain people would enjoy this, some of my married-with-children friends, for example, but it wasn’t for me.

Perhaps others will enjoy Ms. Mann's humor, but I don't. I could not relate to the GenX mother rants and raves.
I found her style to be self-indulgent and only slightly smile worthy.
After first few parts, it even became redundant.
I did not finish. Will not review on my blog.
