Storytelling Irish Style.
I loved this Gaelic story of Chelsea Gold trying to find herself. And struggling all the way. So anxious to get back to her "real life" in Boston. Something that she explained often to her best friend, Ada and the "new people" in Ireland. Ada, was the best I loved how she interacted with Chelsea. She straightened out about things at first, and moments later lifted her up to the fact that she could be brave and do anything ! That helped her get on her way to the Wanderer hostel in Galway, Ireland. The owner of the hostel showed up from time to time in the story and I liked her too with her encouraging and welcoming ways. Collin Finegan, what a great character, he liked everyone and seemed to instantly hone in on Chelsea ! He was direct, teasing, charming, multi-skilled, funny and with a great accent that I could almost hear. I loved that. He was determined to show her how to love Ireland and as a tour guide for the hostel he had his ways ! And being a bartender at the I not just there. Lol. The scene with fish and chips that mentioned, malt vinegar made me want to go out and buy a bottle of it because I really forgot how much liked that on my fried fish !
Now, there was a great, direct funny new friend for Chelsea in the hostel, Italian gal named Flo. She was great ! Chelsea began to see her as her Irish Ada. And a fellow named Lars was a great addition to the working force of the hostel.
Chelsea, found that she really loved putting together some surprise pop-up special events for people visiting the hostel. She loved getting people what they wanted and was surprised how good she was at it. Even though other people noticed and made sure she knew it.
I'm glad that the "snapping of the fingers" wasn't mentioned very often in the book. Because I found it really annoying, and cheesy the way that on a TV program of NCIS, they did it several times. However. In this book, it did show where it could have come from. Approval in an Irish pub for some unusual poetry.
One of my favorite feelings in the story had to do with it being said that, things aren't always easy with blood relatives. But with chosen family there's more support and less disappointments. That feeling came out loud and clear for me.
I admired the scenery and places through Collin and Chelsea's eyes as well. Alexandra Paige did an awesome job, in my opinion.
By the way, great eBook cover, it made me look deeper.
I loved the Faerie storytelling that Collin both sang and spoke to the crowds and to Chelsea. Clever and compelling. They drew me in. And I loved how it was used in the ending to make the ending even more spectacular !
Thank you Netgalley and Alexandra Paige for this Irish Summer. I feel like I was really there ! As soon as Amazon sends me the link to my review from today, I plan on adding it here on Netglley.

This was such a charming summer read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely loved the characters—they were relatable, fun, and easy to connect with—and the plot kept me engaged the whole way through. I especially enjoyed all the vivid Irish descriptions, which made me feel like I was right there exploring alongside them. The hostel setting added such a unique and cozy touch, giving the story an atmosphere that felt both adventurous and inviting. Overall, it was light, heartwarming, and exactly the kind of book you want to take with you on vacation or to the beach. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, feel-good summer read!

I did not enjoy this book. I did not finish it which is rare for me since I read alot. It didn't any wow factors to distinguish it from other books written about this same topic.

An Irish Summer by Alexandra Paige; is a sweet and funny summer. romance. Chelsea has her. life. all. planned, when. she unexpectedly loses her. job. when. the hotel. she works. at closes. Luckily her boss knows of a summer. job in Galway, Ireland. What follows is a delightful story as the workers at the. hostel. try and share the sights and sounds of Ireland, and that. you are allowed to enjoy the detours life sends. Collin, our primary tour guide is warm, kind. and very patient with Chelsea's resistance to. having any fun. The scenic descriptions are beautiful, and really allow the reader to go along as our heroine discovers the country and her people.

I’m ready to pack my bags and head to Ireland now after finishing An Irish Summer. This book is way more than a love story it’s about one’s journey through change and finding out that sometimes the original plan isn’t the best plan for the future. Chelsea tried hard not to fall in love with Ireland and a certainly Irishman but the more time she spent with them the more they made it hard to justify sticking with the plan.
Thank you publishers and netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

Really enjoyed this. It was a nice story with lots of found family vibes and the main character had a good personal growth arc. Lots of humor about an American in Ireland and some cool folk tales about fairies (fae). The author did a great job with the imagery and the reader feels transported all over Ireland. Cozy with a side of romance.

A sweet, romantic story in the Ireland countryside. That seems to be the go to setting lately.
I loved Collin's character, the cadence of his speaking and his stories. I found Chelsea annoying. This book could have been a lot shorter and more entertaining if she hadn't spent most of the story thinking she was too good to be living in a hostel and trying to get out of a good situation. The story drags - the majority is Chelsea trying to go back to her idea of a perfect live and Collin trying to show her the beauty of Ireland and it's lore.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

This was a fun and sweet summer read!
When the bed and breakfast where Chelsea works is sold with little time to make a new plan for her life, she finds herself in Ireland for the summer. There she meets Collin who works to convince her that some of the best things in life aren’t planned and that you can choose who and where you call your home.
I really enjoyed Collin and Chelsea’. You could tell there was a certain attraction there from the start, but they developed a friendship and found understanding of each other as well. Chelsea was so resistant to all the newness around her- the beautiful country, the people, and the experiences. Collin being born and raised in the area and also the hostel’s tour guide made for a fun dynamic. I liked how they both slowly opened up to each other and realized how maybe what you think you’ve always wanted isn’t what’s best. The support in the end and the reunion were a perfect way to wrap up their story!

Thank you NetGalley & Avon Harper Voyager for this ebook.
Unfortunately, this story was not for me. I love stories about Ireland, but the characters, especially Chelsea, had me questioning if I actually wanted to finish the book. There were just lots of points in the story I considered putting it down.

The title says it all - go spend a summer in Ireland with Maddie! The story begins when she loses her job because the B&B where she works closes, but she gets the opportunity to go work at a hostel in Galway, Ireland for the summer. Having nothing else lined up and nowhere to live, she’s basically left no choice to take this incredible adventure.
It was predictable of course, but the journey was an absolute delight. There are lovely found family vibes to round out the romance and I loved the ending. I did find Maddie’s persistence in not accepting Ireland a bit “the lady doth protest too much” but I truly enjoyed everyone’s efforts to make her fall in love with it. Great book, highly recommend for a light, low-stakes romance read.
Thank you NetGalley and Avon Publishing for sending this DRC for review consideration.

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon for the advanced reader's copy of An Irish Summer.
If you love slow-burn, character driven romances with a touch of wanderlust, this one’s for you. Set against the lush backdrop of the Irish countryside, this story wraps you in a warm blanket of heart, charm, and longing. The romance is beautifully restrained. More of a closed door style that only makes the emotional intimacy feel deeper and more earned. The chemistry between the leads builds slowly and satisfyingly, and the tension is masterfully done without ever feeling forced. This book made me want to pack a bag and head straight to Ireland. Highly recommended for fans of clean, slow-burn romance with rich settings and well-drawn characters.

Loses her job and moves to Ireland for the summer. Is hesitant to like it there keeps trying to find a job back home that will be up to her standards. She meets Colin and the others working at the Irish hostel where she reluctantly falls in love with by the end of summer.
Colin takes on this mission of making Chelsea fall in love with Ireland by taking her out sightseeing. Giving her his personal tour of Ireland. He teachers her life is about balance, work and play. Both have an attraction with the other but Chelsea sees no use in starting something that will come to an end with summer and her going back home. Colin convinces her to just let go and enjoy the time they do have together. It was a very slow burn because Chelsea just couldn’t not let go and just live in the moment. In the end Chelsea managed to take a leap and follow her heart instead of what she should be doing.

I received this book from Netgalley and Avon, and Harper Voyager in exchange for my honest review. This Irish summer read was full of adventure and romance. Chelsea's world is turned upside down when she loses her job in Boston and ends up taking a job for the summer at a hostel in Galway. While she isn't super excited, she decides to make the most of it. While she is there meets Collin, who shows her all that Ireland has to offer. Collin brings Chelsea out of her comfort zone and shows her that there is more to life than what she thinks she has in Boston. She ends up falling in love with Ireland, and Collin sees all that she can do in Ireland. I loved all the personal growth, romance, story telling and exploring Ireland that happens within this book. #IrishSummerAn #Netgalley

When Chelsea loses her job and needs some direction in her life, she decided to take a summer job in Galway to keep from having a gap in her resume. At first she doesn’t like it there, but things start to charge for her. Ireland brings her a different way of life and a new perspective that she doesn’t know she needs. I loved the setting of this book and the characters were delightful. The author did a good job of having Cheslea grow as a person. An enjoyable summer read.

Very cute summer read. Well written loved the characters. Found the info about customs and scenery of Ireland very intresting.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author and publisher for a copy of this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Really enjoyed this book! Chelsea was a realistic character who mare mistakes, but also followed her heart. I really loved Collin, and all of the extended characters (Flo, Lars & Ada especially). There were some awkward moments, and lines that felt like the author had the perfect quote and needed to find a way to work it in, specifically in Collin’s fairy stories and Chelsea’s interview at the end. Beyond that, the story was fun and engaging and the Irish culture and sightseeing was really well fleshed out.

💬 This is a very sweet, low angst story about a young woman finding herself, figuring out her life and falling in love while working for the summer at a hostel in Ireland.
I guess I feel a little bit more than neutral about it, but there wasn't a whole lot that really sticks out to me. I really liked all the cultural and historical references about Ireland and its history, especially the fairy stories. I also liked "going" on the tours with Collin and Chelsea.
And my favorite part is probably the open mic night at the end 🥹
I did get frustrated with the way Colin kept essentially complaining about how she was planning to leave when the summer was over, though. I get it. Obviously he's interested in her and he doesn't want her to leave but it almost felt like he was brow beating her over it.
Her leaving makes up the bulk of the conflict in this story so maybe it just felt like it was addressed too often? Maybe if there had been more drama elsewhere in the story, I wouldn't feel that way.
Like I said, the story was sweet and mostly enjoyable, and I do recommend it, but probably this is a "not for me" book.

3.5 ⭐️. This was a really cute story. I really enjoyed. I rated it 3.5 stars because I really would have loved to know more about Chels growth. I felt like the summer went by in weeks. Very cute the setting was perfect and the author did a great job of capturing the magic of Ireland.

Five THOUSAND stars... I mean, is this not every girls' dream?!?? This novel was jam-packed with tension and humor from cover to cover. I adored every second!
Chelsea has had a stable job at the bed and breakfast that she has worked at since graduating college. She has it ALL; the ideal job, her best friend, and the perfect life plan. When the owners of the bed and breakfast break it to Chelsea that they will be retiring and selling she is devastated. However, they did not leave her high and dry. Coincidentally, the B&B owners' sister runs a hostel in Ireland. She convinces herself to take the summer to figure out how to adjust her plan while working at this cozy Galway hostel.
When Chelsea arrives at the hostel she is met with torrential downpour, not so stellar shared spaces, and worst of all.... HOT coffee (ew). Luckily for her, the resident jack of all trades and tour guide, Collin, wants to show her the charm of Ireland before she just writes it off completely.
This novel is filled with adventure, tender moments, and loads of found family. Chelsea just has to decide if she wants to go back to her 'real life' as planned, or take a chance on the beauty of Ireland.
I truly felt like I was IN Ireland as Collin took her from coast to coast. The lengths I would go to in order to find my own Collin are highly questionable.

When a young woman is unexpectedly told the b&b she had planned to work at for the rest of her life is closing, she sees no other option than to take the owner’s favor and go work at a hostel in Ireland, forcing her to (eventually) learn to love somewhere other than the place she’s lived her entire life. And luckily, a friendly local named Collin is determined to make her see how amazing Ireland is.
Although the side characters in this book were absolutely amazing and I loved every one of them, including the love interest, Collin. However, I really disliked Chelsea. In a book that is supposed to win you over with the main character, it really fell short. I found Chelsea grumpy—but not in an endearing way—and so resistant to change until the very end that it just bogged down the book and all the charm of Ireland that otherwise would’ve shown through.
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
