Chelsea's life was upended when the owner of the inn she lived and worked at decided to sell the place in favor of retirement. With a push from her best friend, Chelsea's moved to Ireland and promised herself it was just until she found a new job in Boston and that she wouldn't allow herself to fall in love with Ireland or the people in it. Colin and her new friends in Ireland had other plans.

This book was such an easy read and it was easy to relate to the struggle of the main character in choosing to do the "right" thing or follow her heart.

Today, I want to share my quick review of An Irish Summer by Alexandra Paige. This heartfelt story follows Chelsea, a woman in her late 20s whose stable, comfortable life is uprooted when her job suddenly ends. With nowhere to go, Chelsea takes a temporary summer job at a hostel in Galway, Ireland, determined to make it a stepping stone back to Boston. But plans rarely go as expected, especially when she meets Collin, a charming tour guide who turns her world upside down. As Chelsea explores Ireland, builds new friendships, and questions her carefully laid plans, she’s torn between following her head and listening to her heart.

If you love adventure, “office” romances, personal growth stories, or need a sign to follow your heart, An Irish Summer is the perfect read. Add it to your TBR—it’s an inspiring summer story that will leave you dreaming of life-changing possibilities.

Such a cute book! I appreciate the chance to read early from Avon and Net Galley! Almost 2 years since my Ireland trip, so it was fun to picture all of the fun places mentioned in the book. My hopeless romantic heart loved the story!

This book was 4.5 stars for me. This is a well written romance that takes place in Ireland. The whole story gave me leap year vibes with Amy Adams. The main character is from Boston and taking the summer off to figure out her life and things don't turn out the way she imagined them. I think this story can relate to readers of all ages. While ages 20+ may comprehend better, it's about finding your way in life and realizing we don't have it all figured out. It's ok to embrace where you are. The bonds of old and new friendships are tightly weaved into the characters and story. I love Ireland and the culture. This book did a fantastic job of showing the differences one may experience in Boston vs Ireland. It had a lot of humor and makes for a great summer read.

Thank you to Harper Collins and netgalley for providing me this ARC for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

I gave this 3.5 stars. I enjoyed it, but I felt like there were times I was a little bored. I liked the characters and all of the Irish parts of it.

This was a charming romance with elements of a great story that left me smiling. I adored the Irish culture and Collin’s character was perfection. Chelsea was overly predictable and I felt her inner monologue made her unlikable.

An Irish Summer is perfect for anyone who enjoys a slower pace hallmark-esque romance set over seas.

While at times quirky and lighthearted, I found this book a bit too slow for my liking. I didn’t connect with the FMC and unfortunately did not find myself rooting for her.

On the flip side, I did enjoy the setting of the book and learning about the Irish culture and landscape.

2.5/5

Thank you, Avon and NetGalley, for this ARC!

This was a light, fluffy book in the best way. I would have loved a bit more substance and character development—it just fell a bit flat for me. But, I enjoyed this and would read more from this author!

I really enjoyed this book! I loved going on this journey with Chelsea and I enjoyed seeing her character grow and evolve.

This book was a bit slowly paced and I felt like I was often rereading similar things. But this was a nice read.

3.75 stars.
I really enjoyed this book. It felt like I was transported directly into Ireland.
I did have a problem with the FMC and her age. Her actions and thoughts made her appear much younger than the described 28 years old. This would have been a higher rating had the characters been aged 22-23 to suit their actions. Chelsea was definitely sheltered and spoiled- I mean, who wouldn't want to spend a no-strings-attache summer in Ireland? She read much younger than she was supposed to be and I did have some issues with that. Otherwise, the writing was very good and kept me entertained and interested in the story the entire time.
Thank you again for this ARC!

This book seemed to be for the YA reader, and was saved by the
delightful backdrop of County Galway. The destination was
Chelsea and Collin, and the time it took for the reader to reach
the conclusion was well spent but truly is for the younger
audiences. My thanks to Avon Publishing via NetGalley for
the download copy,of this book for review purposes.

I love reading about books that take me to destinations I haven't been before, and this one did just that! I loved the writing that made me feel like I was in Ireland, learning new words and the culture right along with the MC. It was a bit predictable, but I like that in a book to escape in. A cozy read!

Heads up to clean readers: There was several scenes of drinking/drunkenness and sexual nature

This book definitely gives rom-com Hallmark vibes!! City girl trying to figure out her next move after her bosses decide to sell their B&B meets streaky Irishman keen on making her fall in love with his homeland. The author Alexandra nails the classic trope where our main heroine, Chelsea, tries to fight her attraction to Collin and to the Irish town she is now starting to feel like home. If you are looking for a cute read with a final grand gesture and a guaranteed HEA this is the book for you!

This one was not a favorite of mine, but it was enjoyable enough, and it was well written. Unfortunately it was a little bit repetitive and I struggled to stay interested as the book went on. But still, a cute a fun romance read.

First, thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher, HarperCollins for the arc copy of this book.

An easy 4 stars for me. As I read this book I could picture the movie in my

This was a tender and evocative novel that immerses readers in the lush landscapes and deep emotional undercurrents of rural Ireland.
Through the story of Chelsea, a young woman grappling with love, loss, and self-discovery, the author paints a vivid portrait of Irish culture, family bonds, and the healing power of nature.
The novel’s strength lies in its lyrical prose and richly drawn characters, who feel as alive and unpredictable as the shifting Irish weather. A perfect read for those who enjoy heartfelt storytelling with a strong sense of place.

Thank you for the wonderful read!

I was initially drawn to the cover art for this book and found it to be a lovely fit for this warm, cozy read. An Irish Summer let me feel like I was exploring Ireland right alongside the main character Chelsea. I will admit I wanted to have a deeper connection to her at the beginning of the book and to understand her better, but any frustration with the lack of depth with her character was more than made up for with the dream Irishman Collin. I found myself envious of the tourists that got to experience him as a guide and imagining real-world Collin’s quietly keeping the culture and love of Ireland alive. Overall a very light and enjoyable read which felt exactly as advertised.

Thank you to NetGalley & Avon and Harper Voyager for this ARC!

This story follows Chelsea, who recently loses her job and decides to take a new summer job out in Ireland while she looks for something more permanent. When she arrives, she is hesitate about her decision and is not sure how she will fit in. As time goes on, she connects with her coworkers and finds what she truly needed while out in Ireland.

I recently traveled to Ireland over the summer, so I loved that I could picture and remember all the places they mentioned in the story. This book includes a lot of new found family, self discovery, and unexpected love.

Overall, this was a fun and cute read, different than most summer books I have read. My only criticism is that it can be slow-paced at times and a little repetitive with her trying to figure out where she wants to work next. I also recommend reading it as a summer read (not in the winter like I did) to truly get that summer-time travel feel.

I really enjoyed this book overall! I was excited to read about Ireland, a place I’ve always wanted to visit, and I thought the Irish folklore was a great tie in that gave some depth to Collin’s love of his country. While I completely fell for Collin, Chelsea exhausted me at times. Her negative attitude at the beginning of the book almost had me DNFing. However it’s all part of good character development. I think this is a great little vacation read with Hallmark movie vibes!
