This was a cute summer romance read. Perfect for anyone wanting to read about a summer job in Ireland turned into a love for the land and people by the end of it.
Chelsea's perfect plan for stability is abruptly changed, making her choose a summer job in Ireland over being forced back in with her parents. Initially, she hates the idea of moving to another country, where she doesn't know a single person. Going from big city Boston to the small Irish community of Galway.
But after a deal with Collin, the tour guide, which leads to a summer of adventure, Chelsea ends up seeing a new side to Ireland and herself.

An Irish romance is just up my alley. This one was so good in the tension that was built throughout the book kept me wanting more and more. The description of Ireland made me feel like I was there with Chelsea on her Irish summer. The friendships made in this book were outstanding. This was a really fun read!

Overall, I really enjoyed An Irish Summer. As someone who is obsessed with the movie Leap Year, I wanted to love this book as much as that movie. What's not to love about spontaneity and Irish culture? Collin was the highlight of the entire book. A true sweetheart of an Irish gentleman. He really helps balance out Chelsea's cold anxiety in the beginning and serves as a true beacon of sunshine for Chelsea throughout her entire stay in Ireland. One drawback for me- Chels' fears and insecurities overshadowed a lot of the dialogue, which I know is the point, but it seems a little too frequent and makes the plot a little less enjoyable.
Now, to start planning my own vacation to Ireland!

3.5 stars!
Having a setting in Ireland is my dream so already we were off to a good start! I loved the relationships that Chelsea had formed with the people she met in Ireland and how quickly entangled and attached she got to them (even though she was in denial). It was missing a certain something for me, but I still enjoyed this and recommend it.
**Thank you NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for a review!

I really liked the finally scene and the over all journey Chelsea takes in the book. Mentally and physically. However I was bored through 50% of this book. It was the same conversation over and over again, why anyone wanted to be her friend is beyond me. But here we are.
I did like there wasn't a bug 3rd act breakup though. It was very realistic.

As someone who recently visited and fell in love with Ireland, I was absolutely THRILLED to receive an arc for a romance taking place in Galway of all places!
The premise of a woman being swept away to go work in a B&B in Ireland and fall in love is my actual kryptonite (and, let’s be real, I’m so jealous). I loved revisiting some of the Irish magic in the adventures Collin and Flo took Chelsea on.
I struggled with Chelsea as a protagonist because she was a lot less enthusiastic about the country throughout almost the entire book, which made this read difficult to get through.
Thank you to NetGalley, author Alexandra Paige and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review and feedback.

After the Bed and Breakfast Chelsea works at closes, she is offered a job at the owner's sister's hostel in Galway. She isn't the happiest about moving to Ireland and is determined to find a job back home in Boston. As Chelsea spends her summer in Ireland, she grows to love the country... and someone else.

I liked Chelsea's character a lot, but I really loved Collin and how much potential he saw in her before she saw it in herself. Collin was the perfect tour guide for Chelsea, and I love how he shared Ireland with her! Working at the hostel together was perfect forced proximity, and this book made me want to visit Ireland (or move there) even more! The end was super sweet too, and I loved how Chelsea was able to create a found family for herself. This was such a fun summer read, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's visited Ireland or even thinking of it!
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the advanced reader copy of this book!

If I were to dream up my perfect Irish dream it’d be this book! This was such a cute and cozy romance novel and made me want to book a flight immediately!!!

An Irish Summer, by Alexandra Paige, is a charming rom-com, perfect for a summer read. The word Irish in the title grabbed my attention, and the characters, setting, and storyline kept me engaged throughout. I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for providing the ARC ebook that I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

When Chelsea relocated to Ireland for the summer after the B&B she works at is sold, I was expecting a story with immersion scenery, a few pints and potentially some romance. She gets to the Wanderer, the hostel she'll be working at for the summer and we meet a slew of her soon to be new besties, a found family friend group that you desperately want an in with. And of course, Colin. Plenty of longing glances also included.
As Chelsea settles into galway, the attitude and entitlement comes out in full force. She doesn't intend to stay beyond her contract and there's no convincing her otherwise. Of course Colin takes it upon himself to convince her that Ireland could be hers and spends the summer showing her everything magical about her new [temporary to her] home.
This was a quick escape of a read but it missed so much. Chelsea was insufferable. Putting down the hostel like it was beneath her, regardless of how unintentional it might have been. She was not open minded in embracing her summer in Ireland which was such a bummer to see. Like that's an experience to take advantage of!! There didn't really seem to be chemistry between her and Colin and there were a few points where I wanted to say like why is he even trying. Like truly. The ending felt rushed and a bit unresolved but I would like to try another book by this author to see if it was the story that fell flat or something else that made this book just not quite for me.
Thank you Netgalley, and Avon, and Harper Voyager for the ARC in exchange for my review!

This book wasn't for me. I did not like the pace of the story or really enjoy the way it was wrote.
Thank you for the opportunity to try it out.

This book is like a warm cup of tea on a rainy day—cozy, charming, and exactly what I needed. So freaking cute.
The main character was a bit cynical at first (relatable), but the male lead? Total sweetheart. He keeps nudging her to open her eyes and really see the magic around her—like a tour guide for wonder and second chances. The whole vibe gave me “grumpy meets hopeful romantic” energy, but in a way that never felt forced.
Ireland shines as its own character here, and the romance unfolds with the kind of gentle build that feels earned. No big drama, just steady connection, soft moments, and the kind of quiet magic that sneaks up on you.
Perfect for when you want a story that leaves your cheeks warm and your heart full.

A sweet and cozy story with lots of love for Ireland. You will enjoy learning more about Ireland. While it was a bit slow for me it might be perfect for you.

A cozy, heartwarming rom-com set against the rainy charm of Galway. Chelsea’s journey from reluctant traveler to finding love, laughter, and herself was sweet, funny, and full of Irish magic. I loved the banter, the vivid setting, and the way the story slowly blooms like a sunny day after rain.
“You don’t come to Ireland to escape the storm—you come to learn how to dance in the middle of it.”
Perfect for fans of slow-burn romance, quirky hostel friendships, and stories that feel like a hug in book form.

Alexandra Paige is certainly making a name for herself in the contemporary romance genre. This is her second book and it’s just as good as her first one, filled with lovely characters and descriptive settings it’s another feel good book that will leave you feeling as though you’re in the story.
It’s been a while (that I can remember) where I have loved every single character from the beginning of the book. From Chelsea, the protagonist, to the ones in the background, each character brought something to the book and helped to make this a very relatable story.
I really love how while this is a romance, there is more than just the romance between people. As Chelsea falls in love with the beautiful setting and struggles with coming to a decision as to where she wants her life to go, you’ll feel the feels with her. I am excitedly awaiting Ms. Paige’s third book as she has proven to be a wonderful contemporary romance author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyage for an advanced copy of this. An Irish Summer hit the shelves on July 1st.

A chance to work in Ireland for a summer while you sort out your future...yes please!
So much banter, charm, and adventure when Chelsea Gold and Collin Finegan discover what happens when two strangers go from friends to lovers.
Chelsea is chasing the perfect job but is she chasing what others expect her to do or what her heart tells her too?

This cozy rom-com that made me want to visit Ireland again.
I enjoyed seeing Chelsea's growth as she's pushed out of her comfort zone, and two turning points towards the end were especially gratifying.
Recommended reading for when you're in the mood for armchair travel and a personal growth story.

This book really made me want to visit Ireland. The way everything was described: Galway, the green hills, the cliffs, the ceilidh, the pubs, the people, the fairies, and the culture. And of course cant forget the charming Irishman, Collin. He was so understanding, proud of his culture, dedicated to his work at the hostel, a master storyteller, and the best guide to all things Ireland.
I wasn’t fond of the FMC, Chelsea. She didn’t go to Ireland with the best attitude. I can understand her reasons because it’s difficult when plans don’t go your way. Still it doesn’t justify the way she acted through more than half of the book. In the end, she learns from her previous resistant and cynical attitudes, embracing Ireland, but in my opinion it didn’t make up for how she acted. Much less her attitude towards the MMC, Collin. He was so sweet and understanding of her from beginning to end. Sorry Chels but you dont deserve him.
The secondary characters added different layers to the story and every one of them rooted for Chelsea. Everyone was so kind and supportive of her. Flo, Collin, Lars, Lori, and Ada were such good characters. I wish I could’ve read more of them.
I had read half way through the book when I found the audiobook on Storytel. I loved how the narrator changed her voice for each of the characters, gave them their accents, and made the story come alive.
Thank you NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC. This is my honest opinion.

I feel that this book had so much potential. The premise of the story was interesting and it could have led to a really fun read. However, the story just fell so flat and was boring. Here's why:
The characters. I didn't care for either of the main characters. I tried so hard to like them but I just couldn't. They weren't that interesting and there was just no chemistry between them. Chelsea and Collin together just didn't do it for me. I did, however, like the friendships that Chelsea made with the other employees of the hostel.
The writing. This story just didn't have a good flow in my opinion. There were times when the story picked up the pace and then other times seemed to stall. This book isn't my first by this author and I enjoyed her writing style in the other book I read so I was disappointed in this one. There were too many ups and downs and the story felt stagnant at times which had me going back and rereading paragraphs because my attention was lost.
The story. The story was ok I guess. The premise was fine and seemed interesting from the blurb I read before accepting the ARC.
To sum it up this wasn't the worst book I've ever read but it wasn't the greatest. While disappointed I will still give this author another try.

This was such a good book, as a person that did study abroad I know it can be scary to move to a new place and adjust but learning what all there is to offer is amazing and I know I would want to stay in Ireland with a hot man to show me the ropes too
