Valiant's latest attempt at a prose novel featuring one of their characters. I thought this worked pretty well. I liked that they stayed in the same constrains as the comic book incarnation unlike when they did the Bloodshot novel. Gilad Anni-Padda has been around for thousands of years, righting wrongs and fighting wars. Here, a death cult tries to capture him so they can end the world through the Boon, which is the otherworldly place where he and his two brothers were granted their immortality.

I was excited to sit down and read this. Especially since it's within a universe I enjoy from comics.
Sadly, the characters in this were flat and I had to force myself to read it completely

I’ve loved Valiant Comics since I first started reading them. It was fun to get in on the ground floor of a completely new universe.
While I’ve had to leave some comics reading behind, I do try to keep up from time to time. When reading Valiant, Gilad Anni-Pada, the Eternal Warrior was always my favorite character.
When I heard they were doing original novels from Valiant characters, I was interested.
When I found out that one of them was going to be Gilad, I was excited.
When I found out that Ari Marmell was going to be writing the book, I knew he was in good hands.
Ari Marmell guides us on a journey to have Gilad literally rediscover himself.
Going up against a cult that’s almost as old as he is.
The story didn’t let up from the first page to the last.
I hope they do more novels set in the Valiant Universe.

Thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for providing me with an advance copy of this book to review.
This was my first foray into Ari Marmell's work. I've wanted to read his books for quite some time.
In The Eternal Warrior's opening pages, Marmell grips the reader's attention with a brisk and intense battle. He does a great job at pacing those opening sections.
Some of the characterizations felt a little flat to me, but Marmell's effective pacing helps counter that weakness.
I enjoyed The Eternal Warrior, and I look forward to reading more of Marmell's books.
