This book had an exciting storyline. It was fast paced, the characters were interesting, and the narration was great. 😊

This kind of reminds me of Patricia Cornwall, but not really.

In this one we have 2 women who are forensic investigators....they are not cops...not FBI...but they follow the trails to try to catch the bad guys...

So, when a dead body falls from a van in CA, they are called to assist.
But to their horror, they discover that it is not ONE body, but several!! ?? !!
(Did I mention that the body has been chopped up???)

OK...so overall, the story is good! It's compelling!
BUT...I kept looking up to see if this was the audiobook that was coming out, and maybe it's a re-release...but I don't see that it is.

BUT...there is talk of Blackberries. (I haven't heard that type of phone in quite some time. Those were out when I had my ?Motorola? Chocolate....that was a long time ago.)
Also, post 9/11 is referenced...making me think this was written a while ago?
Maybe it was never released?? Not sure...

Also, referenced that the individual did not have a cell phone. That's unusual too in this day and age...

All in all, I'm giving 3 1/2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫, but rounding up to 4!
I did enjoy the story, although parts of it felt outdated, it was a great baseline!!

Thanks so much to #NetGalley and #HarperAudioAdult and #Avon for an ARC of the audiobook. As I'm looking at the info, I see this was released in August, so it should be readily available now.

The first in a new series, Jayne and Steelie, forensic anthropologists find themselves in case with the FBI, trying to identify body parts and find a serial killer. The story takes us from California to Georgia and sets up for future cases involving forensic team and the FBI team of Scott Houston and his partner. We learn through the story that Houston and Jayne have a history and by the end of the book it looks like they will finally give in to their feelings for each other. This could prove to be a good series and I look forward to the next installment.

I couldn’t stop listening to Silent Evidence, though I found myself wishing for deeper character development. This gripping start to a promising suspense series hooks readers from the first chapter. When mutilated bodies are found scattered along highways, law enforcement races against the clock to catch a serial killer. The author masterfully maintains tension, weaving an intricate story filled with unexpected twists.

The narrative, told from various perspectives offers a layered and compelling experience. The forensic expert’s viewpoint stood out, blending fascinating scientific details with the emotional weight of the investigation.

Fast-paced and unrelenting, the story is a rollercoaster of suspense that’s nearly impossible to put down. The audiobook narration added to the intensity, capturing the mood perfectly and drawing me further into the plot.

Fans of crime thrillers and forensic mysteries will find Silent Evidence an engrossing read. I’m eager to dive into the next installment and see how the story and characters evolve!

Jayne and Steelie established Agency 32/1 with a clear mission: to leverage their forensic expertise in assisting law enforcement with crime investigations. When a collection of frozen body parts spills out of a van on a Los Angeles freeway, FBI agent Scott Houston knows exactly who to turn to for an unofficial autopsy. To everyone’s shock, Jayne and Steelie soon realize that the parts belong to several different victims, not just one. Will they be able to catch the murderer before they become the next targets?

The title Silent Evidence really sets the stage for a story rich in forensic detail. The author's background in Forensic Anthropology adds a layer of authenticity, with some pretty shocking scenes that drive the narrative. I found Jayne and Steelie to be interesting characters, though I would have appreciated a little more depth to their backgrounds. Their relatability and the dynamics between them make their experiences feel significant. There are some nice friendships, a growing romance, and a twist at the end that I definitely didn’t see coming! I’d recommend this to all the crime thriller enthusiasts out there. Also, the narrator had a great voice that made the story even more enjoyable.

“Silent Evidence” is an engaging forensic thriller that dives into the world of crime-solving with a unique focus on specialists Jayne and Steelie.

The premise and concept hooked me right away, and the audiobook narration was definitely a highlight!

That said, I found the character development to be pretty minimal. For a first book in a series, I was expecting more details about who Jayne, Steelie, and Scott are, what drives them, or even just what they looked like!

Instead, it felt like I was dropped into the middle of a story where I was already supposed to know them.

The plot itself was gripping at times, especially with the discovery of body parts from multiple victims, but parts of it felt predictable, which took away some of the suspense. My favorite characters were Scott and Jayne—they stood out the most, though I’d love to see more depth in future books.

Overall, if you’re a fan of police procedurals with forensic science at the core, this is a quick and engaging listen.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for providing this audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review!

The book starts with a gripping scene where body parts are discovered falling out of a van in Los Angeles, setting the stage for a complex narrative. The story revolves around several main characters whose lives and stories are intricately intertwined.

The characters are well-developed, and the focus is maintained on the unfolding story arc, which made for a smooth and engaging read. While I found the book to be solid and easy to follow, it struck me as middle-of-the-road in terms of its impact. "Silent Evidence" is a good choice for fans of the genre looking for a straightforward forensic mystery

In the book Silent Evidence, author Clea Koff begins the Jayne and Steelie Series. Jayne and Steelie founded Agency 32/1 to use their forensic skills to help the police solve cases. But when they are called by FBI agent Scott Houston to help with body parts that fell out of a van, they realize that they are not dealing with one body but many. Are they tracking a serial killer? Or maybe they know the killer and he or she is tracking them! I would recommend this book. I look forward to the series. The audio-book narration was very good. I received a copy of this audio-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

suspense, twisty, multiple-murder, mutilation, transported-across-state-lines, federal-agents, federal-bureaus, anthropologist, crime-thriller, law-enforcement, cooperation, multiple-perspectives, psychological-thriller, psychopath, investigations, investigators, due-diligence, forensics *****

The reader jumps right into the mess that is the story with both feet by falling onto frozen body parts near the roadside as well as more of the alphabet soup that is state and federal law enforcement. It was reassuring to read less quick answers to obfuscating issues that make due diligence the nightmare that comes with unidentified bodies from unknown locations. As an aside there are the interpersonal interactions between colleagues who rarely run into each other and then only when on a Job which serves to round out the characters but not much else. I was glad to learn more about the Job and its vagaries without the overwhelming romantics that some perfectly good mysteries have to include. Excellent read for this science geek!

This was GOOD!! Fast paced, lots of twists and turns, and an interesting premise between the agency that Jayne/Steelie started, and them working with the FBI. Nice friendships, a budding romance, and a big reveal at the end that I really didn't see coming! Def recommend for my crime thriller lovers out there.

"The young woman had been dancing with death, and hadn't even known it."

A solidly enjoyable mystery, despite not being very meaty.
Though, I do agree with previous posters that this very much felt like the middle of a series and not the beginning of one.

I wish we could've gotten to know the characters more, because I really did like what I saw of them and their dynamics with each other. I suppose we'll see what happens in book 2!

Wasn't bad! But could have been better!!
More thriller!! Lot less! Romance!! And whatever was on with that lady and that man! The thriller part of the story was pretty darn good! Gripping it what kept you holding on bitting your nails! How you catch 1 person trying to catch another! Crazy work! I was wrong on 1 part tho!!!

I think I'll be trying to find more from this author! Thanks Netgelly for the ARC copy

*Review of *Silent Evidence* by Clea Koff**
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)

*Silent Evidence* offers a strong start to what looks like an engaging suspense series. When dismembered bodies are discovered along highways, the police launch a frantic hunt for a serial killer. The author keeps the reader’s interest piqued throughout this quick-paced story, balancing tension and intrigue with each twist and turn.

Told from multiple perspectives—those of the forensic expert, the police officers, and even the killer—the narrative adds layers of complexity, keeping the suspense high. The perspective of the forensic expert is particularly compelling, providing an insightful look into the science behind the investigation and the emotional toll it takes on those involved.

The pacing is fast and relentless, making it a thrilling read that’s hard to put down. I’m excited for the next installment to see how the story and characters continue to develop. The audiobook narration was well-done and enhanced the overall atmosphere of the book.

A highly engaging read for fans of crime thrillers and forensic mysteries.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book.

This was a good psychological thriller/ mystery book. I gave it 3 stars because of the obligatory romantic interest shoved in. This book could have been a 4 star without it in my opinion.
