The simple definition of InnSaei is intuition, but the author shows that the true meaning is much deeper and more expansive than one word can convey. This book, complementary to the documentary of the same name, explores the Icelandic art of inner knowing. Each chapter features scientific research backed by stories and experiences from the author and others who have worked to tap into their InnSaei. Through journal prompts and meditation suggestions, readers can develop their own InnSaei and discover the mind-body connection most people are sorely missing from their lives.
Would be an excellent addition to a public library’s self-help section.

Thank you to HarperOne and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this eGalley.

With a beautiful cover, I can see it selling well in a self-help or even New Age section (though it's not a direct fit.) The book focuses on being mindful and learning to listen to your intuition - especially in an age that prioritizes STEM-oriented 'rational' sciences. There are journal prompts throughout, and checklists at the end of each chapter. I hoped for more about Iceland and cultural knowledges, but the book is quite general. I didn't love the inclusion of various experts from their fields, and it felt kind of jumbled within the otherwise clean and focused book. An accessible read, if a bit repetitive.

An excellent marriage of science and “other”, InnSaei is an introspective look on the concept of intuition, and how to really hone in on connection to not just your physical body, but to your mind. Thoughtful examples provided, in which showcasing your “network” not unlike fungi can impact your surroundings and vice versa, and plentiful exercises to find your rhythm or current, to that internal ocean they reference often.
I would say this is a great jump in if you’re familiar with intuitive working, or if you’re of a scientific mind trying to find something “more” behind the facts.
