Elizabeth and Ben used to be friends working in the same field, but when Ben proposed moving to New York and kicking their relationship up a notch, Elizabeth turned him down. Now a year later, the are both successful business owners and in competition for the same investment opportunity, and both of them want the chance to settle their attraction to each other for once and for all.
I liked the premise of this story and I liked both Elizabeth and Ben as a romantic pairing, even though at time she was a bit of a wet weekend and he was a bit of self-proclaimed alpha male. The business aspect of the story was good as it showed how motivated both of the characters were and added an extra dimension to their romance. I did feel like the twist at the end of the story involving Elizabeth's brother was a bit predictable and their was a rescue scene that seemed a bit overblown, but if you're just reading this for the romance then it's perfectly serviceable. The one thing that really bothered me though, was that there were all these issues surrounding Ben's business partner that were never really resolved. Although having now learned that this book is part of a series, it feels like that part of the story was left so it could be in the sequel.
A nice quick romance read with a lovely Caribbean setting. 3 stars.
