I loved it! I can't wait to read another book by the author!
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher, for providing early access to the book.

Three Mothers is a complex and emotional domestic thriller that will appeal to fans of Lisa Jewell and Louise Candlish. The characters are completely believable and the multiple narrative viewpoints work well to drive the plot along.

A good read
Told from peoples point of views
And what three mothers would do for there children
Thanks Netgalley

I am so conflicted about what to rate this one. I am going to settle on 3.5 rounded up to 4. The positives? It kept me interested. I read it in a day. The plot was gripping. The negatives? So many flimsy plot holes that I questioned. Without too many spoilers- Why would Andrew let her take pictures of them in bed? Why would she fall for Andrew so quickly? Why were there so many red herrings thrown at us readers?

The writing style made this an easy read with short chapters from a variety of POV’s and covering different periods of time The substance of the plot however was not one that had me particularly gripped and I did see a lot of the ( dry many) twists and turns coming.

This was my first time reading a book by Hannah Beckerman and I thought Three Mothers was an absolutely phenomenal story! It was a really quick read for me because once I got started I didn’t want to set my kindle down. It’s a story about 3 mothers and their children’s interconnected lives. There is friendship, infidelity, loss and heartache and so many more emotions to feel when reading this book. There were times that I felt so bad for the characters and really grateful that I have never had to experience some of the pain and decisions that they had to go through. I have to admit it was a little bit of a tearjerker for me. If you’re a mother then I really think you should read this book. I know I’m going to be recommending it to all of my reading friends because I think there is a lot to be learned from it. Hannah Beckerman is an author that’s now got my attention and I’m going to be sure to read whatever she writes next. I’ve already downloaded her book The Forgetting onto my kindle and I will be reading that very soon. I’d like to thank Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for the arc. This was a great read and I’m giving it a 5 star rating.

I think I have read too many mysteries. I was able to see every plot twist early on.if I had been new to mysteries I probably would have found it pretty thrilling. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the complementary digital ARC. This review is my own opinion.

Hugely enjoyable book. Told from the perspectives of Three Mothers, this story had me hooked from the opening pages. I read it on a day off work, literally couldn't put it down.

📚: Three Mothers by Hannah Beckerman
⭐️: 3/5
How far would you go to uncover the truth around your daughter’s death? That’s the reality that Abby is faced with after 17 year old Isla is killed by a hit and run - and she just knows there’s more to her death than a tragic accident. As secrets unfurl, it’s clear that everyone involved has something to hide, including Isla herself.
This book had me until the end — I expected a gasp when, in reality, I saw most of the twist coming. (And the part I didn’t see coming landed just a bit flat.)
Thanks to Lake Union Publishing via @netgalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. Three Mothers is out now.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the eARC.
While this book was super reminiscent of others I have read before, I liked the multi-POV short chapters that Hannah Beckerman offered her readers. I did end up predicting at least some of the twists, but found other twists to be silly and unneeded. You learn one of the biggest reveals pretty early on, and while that shaped the novel, I wish it had been a bit later on. 3/5.

I really enjoyed this book. My first by Hannah Beckerman but certainly not my last.
This book definitely pulled at my heartstrings.
A twisty story with great characters.

Thank you Netgalley, Hannah Beckerman, and Lake Union Publishing for my review copy. Three Mothers was published on May 1st, 2025.
Intricate and filled with a couple of shocking twists, the Three Mothers is a well thought-out suspense. At the center of this story lie three mothers who are all devoted to their children.
But how will their lives change when one loses a child in a hit and run, one is the devoted and supportive friend, while the third one’s son is the victim’s ex? Will their social status matter at the end of the day, when some ugly truths are revealed and things were not as they seemed?
Told from different perspectives and going back from the beginning of this twisted storyline, the book grabs your attention from the first chapter.
If you were looking for a new release to read, I definitely recommend this one.

I've always enjoyed books by written by this author and this one was no exception , a raw gritty story about mother love and to what lengths mothers will go to protect their children. I really enjoyed it.

The three mothers are Abby, whose daughter Isla is tragically killed in a hit and run, Nicole whose son Nathaniel has feelings of unrequited love for Isla and Jenna, whose son Callum, was Isla's boyfriend until she unexpectedly ended their relationship. Abby and Nicole are best friends, Nicole has been Abby's rock and support since her husband died five years previously. Jenna is on the periphery of the friendship group, only connected to Abby through Callum and Isla's relationship.
Right from the start it is clear the plot is full of secrets and multiple lies. Starting in the present, the story weaves back and forth between 'then' and 'now' as the author tantalisingly reveals bit by bit the events leading up to Isla's tragic death. There are multiple twists, some I saw coming and a few that appeared out of nowhere. Abby's raw emotion as she struggles to come to terms with once being a family of four (she has a younger daughter Clio) to a future as a family of three and suddenly having to contemplate life as a family of two is breathtakingly sad. Struggling to cope with her own grief, her relationship with Clio begins to fracture, adding a further dimension to this heartbreaking tale.
Three Mothers had me gripped from the outset, definitely a 'just another chapter, oh and just one more' kind of read with shocks and cleverly developed surprises. Sadly though, the outcome and finale was something of a disappointment, lacking the bombshells, drama and excellent characterisation of the rest of the story. It lacked imagination and was, for me, a very predictable ending, hence my three star rating.
With thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union publishing for my advanced reader copy in return for my honest and unbiased review

I think the book was good I don't think it was great. It felt very reminiscent of another book I read. I think there was potential but it just didn't quite get there for me.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this arc.

This was such an addicting, twisty suspense novel that I really wish I’d read as soon as I was accepted for the arc. Thanks so much to the publisher for accepting because this was so much a fun tense thriller!
I loved that it was dual POV as you got the emotions and perspectives of all three mothers. From page 1 I felt I was hooked with thing being revealed and truths uncovered.
It was written super well and found myself constantly wanting more and I did NOT expect the twist at all. Completely shook.
Probably a 4.5 from me as at time the jumps between characters took getting used to but I devoured this within like a day!
Will be sharing a review for Instagram and Goodreads tomorrow!

Okay so I'm going to land on a 3.5 rating here. I enjoyed the book. I really enjoyed the plot and characters and how things fell apart and fell together. I do feel like the narration was trying to show the emotions of the three mothers related to the events leading and following the hit and run death of Isla. However, the mystery itself overrode that aspect of the book so that when we get to the aftermath of the story, there is almost 10% of the book remaining that just goes more in depth with the women. It was rather anticlimactic. Up until that point, it was a 4 star read, but again, anticlimactic. Overall it was an enjoyable and compelling read.

This was a fast-paced, twisty read, giving perspectives from three mothers over two timelines, leading up to a tragedy and in the aftermath. The characters were realistic whose actions were believable, particularly the parents who showed how far they would go to protect their children.

Thank you Netgalley & Lake Union Publishing for an eARC❤️
Hannah Beckerman masterfully tells the story of a tragic hit-and-run accident from multiple perspectives - the mom of the victim, Abby, her best friend Nicole, and Jenna, the mom of the victim's ex-boyfriend. Each perspective adds a new layer to the story, and by the end, you get the full picture.
What I loved about this book is how engaging it is. The chapters are short, and the writing is so good that it keeps you turning the pages. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn't put it down. I loved trying to piece together what really happened, and I had some guesses, but the ending still surprised me.😳
The author handles some really tough topics with sensitivity and depth. Grief, forgiveness, and love are all woven throughout the story, and it's clear the author put a lot of thought into exploring these themes.
One thing that stood out to me is how real the characters feel. They're not just characters on a page; they're people with their own motivations and emotions. You can feel their pain and their struggles, and it's easy to become invested in their stories.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery with complex characters and plot twists. 👍🏽

A multi-POV novel from the perspectives of three different mothers whose stories intertwine. Plenty of suspense and relatable characters with a satisfying ending. Some of it was predictable, but there was still plenty of suspense.
