Lots of interesting information, very detailed. The only thing I didn’t like it is very hard to read. I’m reading on my iPad and the text is very small.

The Ultimate Guide to Planting & Growing Vegetables at Home is a really thorough guide to vegetable gardening for gardeners who want to learn more about planning. planting, and harvesting a home vegetable garden.
The book focuses on 80 different vegetable varieties. The book is nicely organized really well. it starts with selecting the right vegetables, planning the garden, and preparing the soil before selving into planting, fertilizing, and pest control.
It even includes sections on harvesting and using vegetables.
I appreciated the images and the tips on increasing yield and dealing with common plant problems.
I would definitely recommend this book to beginners and intermediate gardeners who want to learn more about every aspect of home vegetable gardening.
Thanks to Net Galley and Fox Chapel Publishing for an ARC of this lovely gardening book.

This is a very informative and helpful book for both experienced and novice gardeners. I appreciated the step by step guides for everything from soil maintenance to how to build a raised garden bed and what can be used as an alternative flower pot. The guidelines were helpful to me as I plan my garden and consider how to water and grow everything to its optimal size and harvest.
I would love to keep this book as a resource. I highly recommend it to all home gardeners.

Living up to its name, this is the one stop guide for anything gardening related. It breaks the different types of soil and when to use it. There was plenty of information on how to make your own mixtures and even compost. One of the most interesting things was that building instructions were even given for raised flower beds. It even gave details on when to use different gardening beds for your garden goodies. The book was beautiful and the photography draws you in. This will make you antsy to get out into your garden. It was a pleasure to read and great information on anything gardening, from planning to storing your crops and everything in between. This is a must read!

A great guide for those who are not skilled in the garden. It was fairly detailed and easy to follow. I think this is a great guide to have.

As someone who wants to begin growing things in the comfort of my own home I greatly appreciated this book. I loved the pictures and everything that I ended up learning.

This is the perfect guide for every gardener. I am new to starting a garden and this book taught me so much. The book is for everyone, from beginner to even a "master” gardener. You can learn so much. It is so detailed, easy to follow and understand. It is full of ideas that I never would have thought of, especially for a raised garden .It's an all-in-one resource for every gardener. It even gives us ideas for what to do with the amazing produce we grow. You are set up for success with this guide!.

This is a very beautiful book with great illustrations and an extensive text. I'm no expert gardener, but here's a lot of practical tips on what to grow and how to do it.

I enjoyed reading this book and building your knowledge around growing vegetables at home. Lots of great advice and easy to understand.

There is a great deal of information in this book illustrated with many photos. Some of my favorite sections included the extensive information on composting, how to build and use raised beds, and what plants go well together. The little insert on which plants can grow so well that they will become weeds was a good warning. I liked their detailed instructions on vegetables like potatoes and carrots. There is information on how to store them. There are even a few recipes included.
This is a good, all around book for those who would like to grow their own vegetables.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

The photos and growing information for some vegetables are the best parts of this book. The publisher took excerpts from several books they published in the past and compiled it here, which means there isn’t really an author or voice. It’s very traditional, old fashioned gardening advice that is rather outdated, like information about tilling and pesticides and how to kill all your caterpillars (which do in fact do some damage but also increase the nutritional content of vegetables they munch, feed the birds, and turn into butterflies, which modern sustainable gardening books all mention). It’s also absolutely packed with so much unnecessary information that it would have made me feel overwhelmed when I was a new gardener. I also disagreed with a lot of the advice, like not to start Swiss chard from seed (I find it ridiculously easy) and that nothing will grow in partial shade (some plants prone to bolting like spinach and herbs actually do better with afternoon shade, especially in the hottest months). It isn’t one I’d personally recommend, but it would make a good late winter library read if you are planning your veggies for the year.
I read a temporary digital copy of this book for review.
