I loved this book by Peyton Corinne. Ro and Matty’s story was sweet and full of character growth. I also loved how Peyton tied this story in the same timeline as unsteady. It was so flawlessly written. This had such great pacing and I could not put it down.
If you like these tropes it would be a good choice for you:
- athlete/tutor
-friends to lovers
- hockey college romance
- dual POV
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Atria Books for an eARC of this amazing new book. I cannot wait to read more from Peyton in the future.

*Thank you so much to NetGalley and Atria Books for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!*
Unloved follows Ro and Freddy, both of whom we meet in Unsteady. Based on the first book, Ro is Sadie’s loyal best friend and dedicated student, but here, we see so much more of her. She’s the homesick out-of-state student, a fierce competitor, and the girl you would trust with the ugliest parts of yourself. Freddy, on the other hand, is the star of the show on and off the ice. He’s the party boy with a reputation, the athlete you cannot take your eyes off of, and ultimately just trying his best.
I thought I loved Unsteady (immediate five stars), but Unloved completely stole my heart. I seriously cannot go a day without thinking of this book. I saw myself so much in these characters from homesickness to grief, I really felt understood by Corrine’s writing. She always handles difficult topics with ease, grace, and levity (when appropriate). Even throughout Unsteady I found myself amazed at her ability to gently portray who these characters are when no one is watching, but Unloved took that to another level. Corrine masterfully depicts Ro and Freddy at their core, leaving you all the more invested in their relationship. In understanding each character’s nuances, you can truly feel how and why they work together.
To be honest, I did not know how I was going to feel about Unloved after Unsteady, because Freddy and Ro were still side-characters to me. I had a vague sense of them but little else. I could not have been more wrong. In many ways I found myself relating even more to Freddy and Ro than Rhys and Sadie. Particularly when it came to their family dynamics.
Corrine truly has a gift for writing complex, dysfunctional families as a lens to understand why these people are the way that they are. While many college/contemporary romances sideline family relationships, this series places them front and center, giving each character a rich and nuanced backstory. Moreover, the overlapping timelines of Unsteady and Unloved offer a fresh take on key moments from the previous novel with new depth and insight.
Read Unloved if you are looking for characters with real emotional depth. It is perfect for those who love too hard, stay loyal no matter what, or – let's be real – are in need of a good cry and a hug all at once. This is seriously a book that will stay with me for years to come.
5/5

This book was amazing! I laughed, I cried, and kicked my feet throughout this entire book. Ro's and Matt's banter was everything to me! I love them, your honor 💗. This book is perfect for fans of Collide by Bal Khabra.

this book is so so good!! it deals with heavy topics, makes your heart hurt as you root for them to heal, breaks your heart a little and then makes it all better.
also the writing needs to be highlighted because it could have gone terribly wrong but I think Peyton Corinne did an amazing job handling the dark and/or difficult parts of this story (mainly the toxic and manipulative relationships).

WOW. I was scared to read this because of how much I loved Unsteady, but this did not disappoint!
This was such a beautiful story about love, grief and healing. It was the slowest burn in the best way. An emotional journey, both of these characters were so raw and relatable. There were so many little moments that made this story so special.
I can't wait to see more from this series!!!

Yes, yes, yes! Peyton Corinne has done it again! I absolutely ate this book up. I read it in one sitting. I fell in love with the characters and their romance. I will definitely be recommending this to everyone I know.

This book was everything!! I recently read the first book in this series and knew I had to see what happened with Ro. Ro is such a complex character! She is so bubbly to most people when really she is personally so unhappy. I loved seeing her gain so much happiness from Freddy/Matt. Freddy is someone that I was not fond of in the first book but I adored him in this book. Him and Ro were perfect together.
The biggest thing that I liked about this book is that the drama and problems that would break some characters up in other books did not cause issues in this one. I felt like the characters were able to discuss their problems and figure it out without having a huge breakup or revelation at the end of the book.
I love the closeness of the characters in the book! I really hope we get the rest of the guys' stories in upcoming books. So far this book is my favorite of the year.

I finished Unloved today and @peytoncorinneauthor has broken my whole heart.
I was not ready for just how much I would cry from Rosalie and Matty’s story.
If you’ve read Unloved, let me know what you think! Grab a box of tissues because it’s a story that’s going to break your heart.

Unloved is the second installment in the undone series by Peyton Corinne. This book is interesting because the timeline is happening simultaneously with the first book Unsteady but with Freddy and Ro’s perspective. So, this book read faster because as a reader, we already know some of what’s happening behind the scenes. As with the first book, our characters grapple with grief, trauma, and toxic relationships. Ro snd Freddy are probably two of the most misunderstood characters so it was nice to see their story play out, however, it didn’t captivate me. What I did like was the disability representation. I loved how it showed that sometimes not all professors or tutors provide appropriate accommodations for those with learning disabilities to ensure the success of their students. What I would like to see is a third book featuring Bennett. He is the most intriguing character in the book series. I want to know why he needs a service dog, why he’s grumpy and broody, and what his true story is. Also, I’d love to see a fourth book featuring Kane. He comes off as a villain in the first book, but is he really?

Every single time I’ve given a book 5 stars before this moment, I was wrong—because this book? Absolute perfection.
I usually avoid slow-burn romances, but this one had me in a chokehold from the very first page. I picked it up and didn’t stop until I was done at 2 AM—all in one sitting. I was obsessed.
Everything about this book worked for me:
✨ The friendship
🔥 The angst
💖 The slow burn
Mattie and Rosalie are everything romance should be—achingly real yet unbelievably romantic. The way their story unfolds feels so authentic, so deeply emotional, that I found myself in tears more times than I can count. I highlighted so many quotes. Just… wow.
Also, can we talk about Archer? Because I need his love story. He deserves his own HEA! 😭😭

A great slow-burn romance! I loved all the multiple conflicts that kept the reader going throughout and wondering what was going to happen. Freddy (Matt). That’s it. 😍 One thing I love that Peyton Corrine does is create playlists for the book and then incorporate said playlist within the book and mention specific songs that are playing during specific parts of the book. I think that really elevates it and helps the reader visualize everything that is happening.

I absolutely adored this book! I love the series as a whole but this book focused on two characters who had emotional trauma and turmoil that I’ve related to so heavily in my life at times. Peyton found a way to put exactly what I’ve thought for years together beautifully and accurately on paper. The character development of this book is stunning. This book is so special and I can’t wait to read the 3rd! Anything this girl writes, I’m going to EAT IT UP

First and foremost, thank you to NetGalley and Atria for sending me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
4.5/5 Starts
I am so unwell. Oh my goodness. I sobbed. I just want to give Ro and Marty the biggest hugs.
Ro was the biggest green flag even while dealing with her own demons. I just want to wrap her up and tell her she deserves to be loved the way she is, unconditionally. And to be loved out loud, the way Matty loves her.
Matty broke my heart into a million pieces, he was a poor innocent boy that the world failed. His school specifically. And to see Ro have his back and support him the way she did was so heartwarming.
I only want the best for them. And it was fun to see the other side of Rhys and Sadie’s story. I hope to see more of them in the future.
Now, Peyton, the Bennett tease was CRUEL. I need that book ASAP😭 and Kane!! Pllleeeaaase

3.5 stars! What a sweet story. One thing I love about Peyton's books is how she creates such beautiful, vulnerable characters and these two were no exception. They were flawed and hurting, wanting a place to belong and to be loved and the way they found that in each other was so beautiful. The progression from strangers to friends to lovers felt so genuine. Them becoming friends was honestly my favorite part of the story. I loved the inclusion of the characters from the first book. I really enjoyed both Freddy and Ro's characters and how they were there for each other. My biggest and only complaints with this book are the repetition of the Tyler storyline and how long the book is. I started to lose interest about halfway through, feeling like it should be progressing a little quicker. The story is very character driven, which I typically enjoy, I just felt like the pacing was a little slow. Tyler and his problematic character also showed up way too often and I honestly felt a little confused by their relationship. I just got annoyed when he was on page LOL. Overall a really sweet, tender love story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The last 30-40% was the best to me. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to read more from Peyton!

Big thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I’ve always been a hockey romance girly, so I was excited to continue with this series 😋 Unloved by Peyton Corinne releases February 4th.
Unloved is the second book in the Undone series, and in my opinion, it’s better to read the first book before diving into this one. While the books are interconnected standalones, the timelines overlap, and I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed this book as much without reading the first one.
You should read this book if you love:
- Hockey romance 🏒
- Friends to lovers 🦋
- Tutor x student 📚
- Slow burn 🔥
- Learning disability rep (dyslexia, ADHD,dyscalculia)🧠
- Found family 🫶🏻
“I think loving you would be the greatest thing in my life.”
This book reminded me of how much I enjoy friends to lovers when it’s done well. I loved seeing Ro and Freddy’s friendship slowly evolve into something more. Their feelings of loneliness were really relatable, and I liked how their friendship filled a void for both of them. Also, Ro was in a toxic relationship throughout the book, and it was refreshing to see her being cared for and understood by Freddy.
I was pleasantly surprised by the learning disability rep (dyslexia, ADHD, and dyscalculia). Learning disabilities are rarely discussed in books, so I loved how Ro, as a tutor, accommodated Freddy’s needs. Freddy really needed someone in his corner 🥹
I hope we get Bennett’s book soon because he’s adorable!
A few things I enjoyed less:
- I would’ve liked if the timelines of this book and book 1 overlapped a bit less. It felt a little repetitive at times (especially since I read the first book right before this one). We also saw a lot of the couple from book one, including some of the same scenes but from different POVs.
- People constantly calling everyone by their full name. It’s not a huge thing, but it did feel a bit unserious at times, idk.
- I wish Sadie had been more present for Ro. I grew to like Sadie while reading her book, but in this one, it felt like Ro was constantly alone, and that made me sad 🥲

4.75 ⭐️
This book was so cute and beautifully written. It explores self-doubt, healing, grief, and learning disabilities in such a heartfelt way. I LOVED IT SO MUCH!
Matty "Freddy," the so-called lover boy and flirt, is so much more than the mask he wears. On the ice, he's a star player, but off it, he struggles with ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia, barely making it through his classes. Ro, his assigned tutor, is sweet, intelligent, and caring while dealing with her own emotionally abusive relationship.
I related to Ro so much. Her love for bows, cute clips, princess vibes, romance books, and even Taylor Swift! She felt so real, and i adored how she genuinely supported Matty and stood up for him. And Matty? He's the ultimate golden retriever. cocky, sweet, sensitive, protective, and a total cinnamon roll. Also, he calls her Princess 😩. I'm such a sucker for nicknames, and this was freaking cuteeee 💗
Their story was adorable and such a sloooooow burn. I was giggling and smiling through so many scenes. Freddy's love for Ro didn't just come from attraction. They grew from her words and actions.I loved how they became each other's safe space and built such a strong friendship first. As their bond grew, so did the tension between them, and they were both afraid of risking the friendship they'd built. Watching them grow and heal together was so beautiful.
A few of my favorite moments were late night phone calls, taking her to a bookstore, watching her favorite movie, and listening to her favorite book 🫠. I also loved how the timelines of the 1st book and this one were so well integrated.
This story was sweet, emotional, and incredibly relatable.
Tropes:
Slow Burn
Hockey Romance
Friends to Lovers
Secret pining
Mental Health Rep
Sunshine x Sunshine
Thank you to NetGalley, Atria books, and Peyton Corinne for the eARC.

Matt “Freddy” Fredderic is all smiles—at least on the surface. On the ice, he’s the star left winger for the Waterfell Wolves with a stellar reputation in bed and a potential future in the NHL. But in the classroom, he’s barely scraping by on a 2.0 GPA, retaking failed classes and struggling with a rough mix of dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. Now tied to an NHL contract upon graduation, Freddy needs help to pass biology with a professor he has a tumultuous past with.
Ro Shariff is a hopeless romantic with terrible luck in love—and now, Freddy’s newly assigned tutor. Trying to convince herself that she’s very happy with her on again/off again boyfriend, Ro is desperate for real affection. As her tutoring sessions with Freddy lead to late-night phone calls and a deep understanding of each other’s hidden pains, a real friendship strikes up between them. And, inevitably, a wistful secret pining hidden by them both. Ro can’t stop thinking about her first kiss her freshman year with Freddy—a spine-tingling moment that Freddy doesn’t seem to remember. Meanwhile, Freddy can’t let go of Ro’s drunken heartfelt confessions from the night she doesn’t remember.
I really enjoyed this, despite the fact that it reads a lot like "just another hockey romance" but with an ADHD main character. Sometimes it feels like too many of the popular books are cookie-cutter of each other. This was just close enough to everything else that I think it will do well, though! Solid read! 4⭐
I received an advanced complimentary digital copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed are my own.

If you've read Unsteady, you won't be surprised by the emotional rollercoaster Peyton can put you through. (If you haven't, watchu doin babes???)
Thank you, Peyton (my boo) and Atria, for this ARC.
Unloved is a breathtaking journey of healing, hope, and finding love when you least expect it. Peyton weaves a story filled with tender moments and sizzling chemistry that truly is a must-read. Freddy and Ro’s story will linger in your heart long after you turn the final page.
Freddy and Ro meet at a college party during freshman year which leads to a kiss Freddy can’t remember. Three years later, Freddy is struggling academically due to his dyscalculia and dyslexia, and Ro is assigned to him as his new tutor. Watching them turn from strangers to friends to lovers is all about the subtle moments, small touches, and emotional conversations. Honestly, I would have read 500 more pages of them healing and finding happiness together.
Ro was my favorite—I said what I SAID. Peyton writes the most wonderful FMCs, and Sadie is who I inspire to be when I grow up, but I LOVE a good "girl who learns her worth" story, and watching her get rid of that dumba** was the most satisfying feeling. Freddy, who has nothing to do with the labels others put on him, is the most lovely golden retriever hero. He's patient, soft, and a Broken Boy TM. One of my favorite boyfriends of 2025, just you watch.
I won't hear a word about it: this book is stunningly written, perfectly executed, and an absolute joy to read. It comes out Feb 4th (so soon!)
I will now pause my existence until the third book comes out. Bennett? Hmmmm???

I don’t know what was in this book but it had me hooked. I read this in a solid day and enjoyed every page. I loved them going from tutorial to friends to everything. So obsessed.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC

Unfortunately this one wasn’t for me. I felt like I couldn’t connect with the story. It felt all over the place. Tyler was super annoying. Ro deserves the world.
