I really enjoyed this book and it was perfect for breaking my reading slump! I did have one major issue with it that brought it from a 4 to a 3– Matty’s overprotective nature hinders Ro’s ability to be the strong woman the book wants us to see her as. It feels like in any confrontation, she just freezes up and Matty comes to the rescue. I wanted to see her truly stand on her own two feet and not rely so heavily on him. We get to see Matty become more confident and grow on his own, but we don’t get that same thing from Ro and I was disappointed in that from a book that really was trying to play up the strong female main character.

Overall, if you enjoy hockey romances ala Elle Kennedy, this will be a great book for you.

Put Peyton Corinne in a room filled with angsty characters… she’s going to write about them and do it well. Unloved is a beautiful, angsty story filled with so much depth and love. If you loved Unsteady, I promise you’ll love this one too.

Matthew (Freddy) and Ro are two characters that you cannot help but love. They are two incredibly well-written characters with a lot of depth and stories that will make you want to give them the biggest hug.

Peyton takes on the classic tutor girl x playboy jock (One Tree Hill lovers!!!) extremely well, while also maintaining her classic angsty twists that she applies to her characters and their stories. I loved the way that she handled Freddy’s character, especially with what he has struggled with throughout the entirety of the story. I loved the way she handled Ro’s story, her journey to becoming more comfortable with herself, and her monster of an ex-boyfriend (literally public enemy #1).

Freddy and Ro’s relationship is heartwarming and sweet. Its filled with so much chemistry, safety, trust, and unwavering love. I absolutely adored these two from the very beginning and want to give them the biggest hug. They are everything the other person needs, and getting to see them be a safe place for each other made me weep.

I also adored the ADHD/Dyslexia/Dyscalculia representation that Peyton incorporated into the story and Freddy’s character. As an ADHDer myself, I always appreciate getting to relate to characters on that level and I’m sure so many readers will as well.

It’s clear that Peyton Corinne has found her angsty pocket in the romance world and I cannot wait to see what she continues to do with this series, these characters and their stories.

We met Ro and Matt aka Freddy in book 1. I would recommend reading book 1 vs this as a standalone.

TBH, so many of the relationships in this book made me uncomfortable and gave me anxiety (hi Tyler and Cameron).

Ro is shamed by her on and off again boyfriend, Tyler, for her interests both in and out of the bedroom. He controls her and manipulates her over the course of two years, and she constantly forgives him. It was frustrating to read, as Sadie (from book 1) is take no shit kinda gal and I am shocked that she sat back the way she did.
Who Ro actually is versus who Sadie thought she was in Book 1 gave me a bit of whiplash. Her lack of confidence and backbone in her own academic pursuits frustrated me.

Matty struggles with the passing of his mom and leans into being “the school slut”. He may have emotional intelligence, but a major focus of his story is working with Ro as his tutor so he can graduate.

There were too many plot holes for me to love this book but the top 3 are:
1. What happens to Tyler? Are there no consequences to him or the other tutors for disregarding learning disabilities?
2. Does Professor Tinley get reprimanded for their behavior? How about all the other professors who ignored Matt’s “IEP”?
3. How does Matty not disclose his collection of butterflies from Ro that *one night* and not discuss in detail what that experience was like for him.

my thoughts┊probably gonna be in the minority for this, but i actually did not enjoy this book much at all lol

it felt like such a step down from unsteady, which i read and loved earlier this year. i wasn’t too invested in ro and freddy from what i saw in that book, but their story seemed promising, which is why i requested the arc.

sadly, this just wasn’t for me. it felt like the author wrote 4 different versions of this book and then mashed them all together; sooo much was going on, yet nothing was really happening, scenes were so repetitive and choppy, the characters were very flat and honestly kind of annoying… it was just a rough read.

i really struggled with this one. i feel like some people will love this as much as the first, but it was definitely just a miss for me.

Oh my god these two broke my heart. I was seriously so in love with the both of them. Peyton Corinne your writing has just gotten better with your second book and I didn’t think anything could top Unsteady. I was dying for Freddy and Ro’s book from the first one but I truly didn’t know what I was getting myself into. This was so unbelievably beautiful. These two lost little souls who found each other and made each other whole. There were so many aspects that were so relatable and it made it even more emotional. This was a phenomenal sophomore book, I can’t wait for the rest of the books in this series! This was one of my favorite reads of the year. You’ll laugh you’ll cry and you’ll fall completely head over heels for Freddy and Ro. What a perfect book.

Unloved is such a sweet and emotional read! Freddy and Ro are both incredibly relatable, and their story pulled me in right from the start. Freddy isn’t just the typical hockey star—his struggles with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD made him so much more human, and I couldn’t help but root for him. Ro is such a lovable character too; her search for real love and her determination to help Freddy succeed made her the perfect balance to his rough edges. The slow-burn romance between them is seriously adorable. Watching their friendship grow into something deeper was so satisfying. There’s just enough angst to keep you invested without it feeling over the top, and their connection felt genuine and heartfelt. That said, the pacing dragged a little in the middle, but the payoff was worth it.

Freddy and Ro’s journey of self-acceptance and learning to love each other, flaws and all, is the kind of story that sticks with you. If you’re into sports romances with heart and characters who feel real, you’ll love this one!

Wow, wow, wow, wow. That’s literally thee only word I can think of to describe this book rn (but never fear, cause I’m about to find the words).

I read Unsteady in one sitting, and I loved it, but it was harder to read for me, subject-wise than Unloved. Maybe it’s Unsteady stressed me out because of the sheer amount of responsibilities Sadie has in it. And maybe it’s because I just *felt* Unloved on an emotional level.

Ro and Matty are just *perfect*, and as this review is going to be spoiler free, I can’t say too much, but I shall try my best to convey how amazing this book was nonetheless. I read Unloved as an e-ARC, and the amount of highlights collected in that file… let’s just say Ro and Matty can’t stop being the sweetest, and also the yearniest, cause I’ve decided that’s a word now.

This book deals a LOT with the concepts of grief and loss and trauma, and then managing to find love in or despite all of that. I’m not a huge crier when it comes to books, but if I was, trust that I’d be bawling. I really felt like reading this pulled me apart, piece by piece, and then put me back together. Truly an emotional and genius read. I’m so serious, the emotion in this is powerful. This isn’t your super lighthearted hockey romance. Although, it is funny and sweet and full of joy (and spice), but it’s really so much MORE than that.

I feel so lucky to have gotten to read the ARC for this. Peyton Corinne, thank you so so much for this book. Honestly, I’m worshipping the ground you walk on right now. 💚🏒

A hockey romance is going to do it for me everytime. So far this series has boiled down to two people leaning on each other to fight their demons.

I honestly might need several business days to process this book. From the cover and the blurb, you would never expect the depth and beauty that is this story. Ro and Freddy just .. gosh. I don't have the words. Peyton's writing is so well done. The story is captivating and moves along at a good pace. None of it feels like filler. The petty person in me would have absolutely loved to see Tyler and Carmen get their comeuppance somewhere in the story, but I'll happily settle for him getting roughed up by Freddy several times.

The vulnerability from Ro right out of the gate is so endearing. It made me root for her and be so fiercely protective of her. My heart hurt for her and raged at her stupid narcissistic piece of poo boyfriend. Freddy has my whole heart. That boy went through more in a 4 year span than anyone should. I'll add his dad to the list of people I need to see get the "find out" portion of FA&FO. I love how their relationship helped both of them. Ro got more confident and steady in her self talk. So did Freddy to be fair, but his journey was more a realization that he had more to offer than his body, and that his learning disorders did not make him stupid. I could literally go on and on. Suffice to say that I love this freaking book!

I remember reading Unsteady and being blown away that it was Peyton Corinne’s debut novel. This opinion continued with Unloved as Corrine continues to write in a way that shows such passion.

We first meet Ro and Freddy in Unsteady. They’re characters we easily fell in love with their tiny flirtations. Unloved does an amazing job at continuing their story. They were already fairly developed in the first book and the second stays authentic to the characters and stories we know. It did a great job at tying in and continuing the developing story between the two.

I am grateful that this book provided dual POV. Being able to see into the minds and thinking of these two characters added a lot of depth to the story. Both struggling to be their authentic selves, we see alot of facades at play. Being able to see them at a deeper level made these characters a lot more relatable, which I really enjoyed. Ro, a notorious people pleaser who just wants to be her authentic self and accepted, and Freddy, who needs someone to help prove to himself he can be loved… that he isn’t unloved (as the title suggests!). Two characters who are easy to relate to. Peyton Corrine does an amazing job at writing authentic experiences. It’s what makes her characters so loveable. They feel real.

This book took one of my least favourite tropes, friends-to-lovers, and made it incredibly enjoyable. These are two characters you can tell are genuinely in love. That there’s nothing forcing them to be, they just are. Emotions are definitely one of Corrine’s strong spots when it comes to writing.

Two things I found Corrine depicted accurately and incredibly well - grief and learning disabilities. She wrote grief, and it’s journey, incredibly beautifully. It felt so raw. Her learning disability representation was spot on. You can tell a lot of research went into her writing.

Overall - this was an incredibly enjoyable book and amazing continuation for the series. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

They are so cute!! Let me preference that I’m having a hard time deciding who I love more between Rhys and Sadie and Freddy and Ro and I think Freddy and Ro are just slightly inching for the win!! Because I LOVE FREDDY!!

As a person with learning disabilities myself I really connected with Freddy! They were both broken by a previous relationship but their friendship was so precious and to see it turn into more was incredible! They found their way to each other in the end. This is truly a story where two lonely hearts become one!! ❤️

I had the opportunity to read "Unloved" through an e-ARC with net galley. I loved the book, and really connected with the two characters, Ro and Matt. I loved their friendship turned romance, and would read another story about them in the future. I also enjoyed how each character helped each other with the various battles each was facing.

Peyton Corinne is one of the most authentic authors I’ve ever read. She captures true emotions without dramatizing them or making them feel unbelievable, and always depicts her characters in their most genuine forms. She doesn’t shy away from complicated topics, she raises awareness and gives her readers hope in knowing they are not alone. I am always going to recommend anything Peyton Corinne writes.

Everything about this book was phenomenal.

The dual POV, the writing, the tropes, the characters, the overlap with the previous book.

I loved the story so much, it was so well written that I could not put the book down.

The characters were so well developed in the first book that I was excited for this couple and this book exceeded my expectations.

There was a good amount of overlap and answering to the flirting in the first book of this series, and POV of these characters was so much better than I could've imagined.

I cannot wait for others to read this book and fall in love with this couple!!

Omg!!! I can’t even begin to say how grateful I am that I got accepted for the arc of Unloved. I fell in love with Unsteady and was so excited to get into the story of Ro and Freddy. 🤍 This book was everything and more. I absolutely adore both characters. I can’t wait for this book to be out so everyone else can enjoy it just as much as I did!!

The empathy Peyton Corinne has for her characters is the loveliest gift.

Cozy, angsty, super sexy, and gentle, this book felt like a warm hug. I fell in love with these two (very relatable) people pleasers and couldn’t get enough of their tender love story. Freddy is essentially the greenest flag to ever green flag and Ro is too good for this world. And I love how Peyton never shies from more serious topics - I *want* my romance to be coupled with real-world issues, and you know you’ll always be safe and warm in Peyton’s hands. Great spice, emotional, and so much softness. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed this more than the first book in the series. I do think that some of the grammatical errors and timeline issues still popped up in this one.

I loved the safety and comfort between Ro and Freddie, I really did feel like their friendship and then relationship was well done. Friends-to-lovers isn't always my favorite but I do think it was well done here. I liked seeing Freddie show Ro what love is supposed to look like after such a terrible relationship. I hate Tyler and her professor!

The topic of grief was well done. I think the depiction of how difficult it is to deal with was great!

My qualms:
-Too many flashback scenes
-Some of the writing wasn't the best
-Interesting word choices that took me out of the story (more towards the beginning and less toward the end)
-Interesting timeline/ new scenes in stories without much transition

All in all I enjoyed my time reading this book!
I hope the next in the series is finally Bennett's!

Ro/Rosalie and Freddy/Matty hold such a special place in my heart. I loved how tender, sweet, and loving this book was—everything that makes for a good romance. Their communication was incredible, and their development was so well done; it all felt very natural. I also loved how they saw the other for who they really were and not who they were presenting themselves as. The way they were so raw and real with one another was beautiful, and the handling of his childhood was so well done. Absolutely one of my top books of 2024 because WOW!

It was so deeply emotional, angsty, and romantic all at once. I adored it and I couldn’t believe it was a debut novel. Needless to say, I was totally buckled in to see what Peyton Corinne would release next. Let me tell you that Unloved did not disappoint!

This series is starting to remind me of the Maple Hills Series in that it’s one of my favorite found families that I have read! Something about a college hockey team is just gonna get me, I fear. They just genuinely care for each other in a deeper way than just teammates. I love to see characters who didn’t have a good support system finally find their people!

The characters were some of the best I have read, genuinely. Ro was such a softy who just needed someone to let her be her true self! Freddy needed someone to show him that he IS loveable in an emotional way. They both were hiding under facades and found themselves in each other. They were so tender hearted and soft!!!!!! I melted for them. We all deserve someone who makes us feel EASY TO LOVE!

There were so amazing scenes in this one that I won’t spoil for you, but just know, that the romance book girlies will swoon. Everyone say thank you to Peyton Corinne because she really fed us with this one.
