SO. I didn't realize this was a book #2 when I requested and through the story I could tell there was back stories I was missing. I did go back and read Unsteady first and I'm so glad I did. It helped build the stories a lot more and I will definitely be purchasing this series as soon as possible.

I read Unsteady by Peyton Corinne when it was released last year and I thought it was good. Good enough that I was willing to request book two when I saw it available in NetGalley. I am so glad that I did. The pacing issues that I had with book one were fixed here. This book was literally "unputdownable" for me and I found myself reading it between throwing the Thanksgiving Ham in the oven and starting the Sweet Potato Casserole. Any chance I got, I came back to Ro and Matty.
Ro and Matty were so relatable and the way their relationship developed felt authentic and believable. I loved them together and I loved their individual character arcs. This was a slow-burn friends to lovers and I'm such a sucker for the tutor/athlete trope. Gets me every time.
Seeing the character's from Unsteady was nice and I liked how the timelines of the stories overlapped.
I am eagerly awaiting book three in this series and will be picking up a physical copy of this one for my shelves.

i really enjoyed freddy & ro!!! i thought that them and their love was soo sweet and i loved reading their story!!! i enjoyed the first book, and seeing little glimpses of rhys and sadie was cute!!!!!! i enjoyed this one a lot!!!! thank you to atria, peyton and netgalley for the arc!

Unloved by. Peyton Corinne
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
“Why keep trying when it hurts? Because they’ve been disappointed by too many people. And I won’t be one of them.”
Where do I even begin?! The heart wrenching realness of this book and the mental health and personal experiences that shaped each character were perfect. I adored getting to experience that with each of them. Living through little bits of Sadie and Rhys journey again was so sweet but also broke my heart all over again and she perfectly executed the feelings in chaotic moments and sad emotional ones too. In the chaos filled scenes they are going back and forth sloshing around like Freddy’s mind. My heart never stopped racing the entire time but it was so thrilling! I truly enjoy reading Peyton’s stories because they not only give us sweet romances and adoring love but also show the true emotional struggles and effects of others on your life. We also get a nice idea that you can heal by yourself and it can get better, but it’s also okay to let others help you, maybe they need you just as much. Ro and Matty are my favorite let’s heal together couple. This was an easy review to write. I have so many thoughts and lots of gratitude towards this book and Peyton for writing these stories that may be uncomfortable or uncommon but they’ll always hold a special place in my heart! The ending was so sweet and savory it honestly healed so much in me, I loved the found family and comfort it brought! Overall I adored this story and will forever recommend these books to whoever will listen!!
Thank you so much NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for this amazing arc!!

4/5📚 thank you peyton corrinne and @atriabooks for this ARC. after reading the first book, i was jumping at the bit to start the second.
short summary:
ro shariff and matt fredderic have something in common: both want to be loved, genuinely, for who they are.
ro shariff is a brilliant student & tutor tasked with taking on freddy’s case after her coworkers refuse to give him another semester, with his extensive academic accommodations. freddy, with his main goal being to graduate on time and enter the NHL after graduation, knows the only way to do that is with a tutor. through the story, freddy will figure out he needs ro more than just academically and ro will learn love is not conditional- as her current boyfriend tyler, so often points out. both will learn to heal from their past (and present) with the other’s company and friendship.
things i loved:
🏒quote: ”’real people don’t act like they do in your books, ro.’ but it wasn’t even the romance I’d wanted. it was my desperation for wanting to feel something real. something overwhelming, but worth it.”
🏒 after others taking advantage of freddy’s desire to be loved, ro is protective over him and his heart.
🏒quote: “but I’d lived entire lives, thousands of them, in books. and part of me always imagined what falling in love would feel like.”
🏒 they’re so protective over each other- i NEED that loyalty in my life MY WORD.
🏒their FRIENDSHIP- how supportive they are of each other
🏒freddy’s entire personality- i’m in love with him
🏒although freddy has a certain reputation, this doesn’t scare ro off.
this book fits like a puzzle piece with the first book. it almost feels like your solving the mystery of what else happens during the first book- like adding details to a painting.
watching ro heal freddy through her authentic love for him and his personality- despite his struggles, was truly BEAUTIFUL to witness. vice versa, watching freddy show ro what a true love/relationship looks like after she comes out of an abusive situation- it really made me relate with a lot of what she was feeling. overall, this book is beautifully written and i’m obsessed w the little world peyton corinne has created!
tropes:
tutor x student
hockey player romance
friends to lovers
healing relationship
would i recommend? oh, for SURE

oh baby !!!
THIS BOOK had everything I love about reading. A relatable FMC and an irresistible hunky MMC.
Peyton Corinne has an amazing way of including hardships in books through the characters' experiences/their story. The way she approaches their stories and conveys them is sensitive and heart-wrenching.
I love books that make me truly feel and connect with the characters. I see a lot of myself in Ro. She's loving and fun but has many insecurities about romantic love. Through this book, she heals those parts of her.
Matty is such a beefcake and the school playboy, but what most people don't notice about him is his big heart. He feels very deeply and wears his heart on his sleeve. I really appreciated the bond that Ro and Matty created by just simply being friends.
Fully knowing someone and loving them for simply being them is such a wonderful thing that most people don't value enough.

I loved reading Unloved by Peyton Corinne. This book made me appreciate its slowness, even if I still read it quickly. The characters were charming and I loved seeing them grow together. I liked the fmc: Ro, a lot. I think that was because she wasn't snarky or bossy, like most of the main characters in books I tend to read. She was sweet and relatable at certain points throughout the story. The mmc: Freddy was my favorite character by far. During times he was going through a lot, he still made an effort for others. It was easy to get lost in the story of Ro and Freddy's relationship. I gave 4 stars to this book, so it's safe to say I enjoyed it. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

Wow! I loved this book! The characters and their chemistry together was chefs kiss! I love a good hockey romance and this hit the spot!

Alexa play "so high school" on repeat.
This boy is the definition of a golden retriever. The two of these characters were made for each other. Freddy, the boy who isn't chosen first, the boy who everyone thinks is just a playboy, in reality just wants to the loved. Ro, the love-love girl, who just wants to be seen, the girl who is patient and thinks she got what she deserves when it comes to relationships. But in turn, when the 2 of them get together and form a STRONG friendship to begin with, it allows them to understand each other so much better.
This book is a slow burn that tears your heart out (multiple times) for these characters and then puts it back together time after time when these two MCs are together. They are perfect for each other.
One thing I found interesting about this book is it is the same timeline as Unsteady, I think it would be interesting to tandem read it, and I have a feeling the next book (assuming there is one) will be the same way.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Once again blown away by this author. This story covers so many heavy topics and I was swept away. I can’t wait to see what is next in the series.

Important note:
If you loved Unsteady, definitely read Unloved. The timings overlap quite a bit and might do well as a tandem read but if it’s been a while since you’ve read Unsteady then definitely do a re-read before jumping into Unloved, otherwise it feels like you are only getting half the story. It’s the only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5. Overall a really great book and one I definitely will be re-reading.
I was very fortunate to get an early copy of this book and I’m so happy I did! Ro and Freddy (Matty)’s story revolves around mostly Matt’s grief over losing a loved one and the insecurities that both Rosalie and Matt Share. Just like in Unsteady, both characters share similar struggles when it comes to their mental health and work to help each other overcome it and also see the good within themselves from helping the other person. There were many moments where I felt like I wish I could shake these characters and tell them to wake up but also just hug and embrace them, especially Matt. I felt like I must protect Matt at all costs and am now seriously protective over him 😂

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Matty and Ro are the cutest couple!!! I really loved Rosalie and was able to see myself in her character, I think she’ll connect with any girl who’s a hopeless romantic and a big reader. This story goes on the same timeline as Corinne’s other book Unsteady, so I’d recommend rereading that book before this one to catch yourself up!

Thank you so much to Peyton Corinne and Atria Books for the eARC of this book. I was so excited to get this ARC of Unloved after reading Unsteady last year. It was definitely worth the wait!! I love the Fun spicy hockey romance genre, and this was perfect, Highly recommend this one!

After grabbing Unsteady at random earlier in November and being so pleasantly surprised, I was so excited to get Unloved via NetGalley!
Corinne does something in her work that I find lacking in a lot of contemporary sports romance and that’s make the characters feel and act and think like real people. While still making them dreamy!
I can’t wait for the next installment!

…I wanted to love this but it kinda fell flat for me.
This just felt unnecessarily long. I was skimming some parts because it felt like we were repeating things soooo much and I was getting bored.
I was over Tyler after one chapter of his bs, like bro needed to gooooooo!! I thought there would be more integration with Rhys and Sadie since the timelines connect, but I felt we barely saw them throughout this book.
I loved Ro & Freddy and their relationship. But this slow burn & friends to lovers was just a bit too slow for me.

This was a beautiful follow up to Unsteady. The way Peyton Corinne is able to write these fun, spicy hockey romances while still writing raw and real characters with these real insecurities and issues so refreshing. There were some moments when the panics and self destruction felt a bit repetitive, but that is how those things usually go. They gnaw and nag at you. I cannot wait to see what Peyton Corinne does next with this series but I have an inkling we'll get a look at a certain goalie and/or a tattooed wildcard

This was very cute and easy read! If you love a tutor x athlete trope, then this one is def for you! I do wish some things were changed at the end like how they dealt with some of the conflicts, but it was enjoyable!! I hope the next book focuses on Bennett or Kane!!

I thought I loved Unsteady, but then Matty (as I prefer to call him) came in with his butterfly thigh tat and jumped off the deep with me into the depths that is Unloved.
Peyton Corinne just knows how to write beautifully tortured characters, and that’s exactly what you get with Freddy and Ro. The way she can make me squeal by having characters just call each other by their given name is unreal…forget the nickname trope (but not really because Freddy calling Ro “princess” is everything).
First we have beautiful, smart, loyal Rosalie Shariff. She is the best friend of Sadie with a heart of gold. We meet her in book one, getting glimpses of her soft, girlish nature. In Unsteady, we get introduced to her red-flag of a relationship with Tyler. We got more of this in Unloved, and it’s safe to say I have never felt such pure, blinding rage for a fictional character than I have for Tyler Donaldson. Ro is pure sunshine and her light is dimmed by him repeatedly.
*Enter Matthew Fredderic* This golden retriever, hunk of a man is determined to rewire the way Ro thinks about herself. He becomes her student, and friend, as she tutors him through senior year. He’s there to save her on multiple occasions, but Freddy is unfortunately dealing with his own struggles and insecurities. Insecurities that make him believe he is “unlovable”.
Both characters deal with negative self-views, caused by the narcissists in their lives. Their treatment of each other throughout is nothing short of mutual respect, consent, and tenderness. Reading their love story made me feel light, airy, and warm. Equally cozy and devastating in the best way.
One of the things I loved most is that the timeline of this story is happening through the same timeline of Unsteady. You get little glimpses into things from the first book and what has been happening simultaneously. This meant we get to see quite a bit of Sadie and Rhy (and I loved getting to know the start of Sadie & Ro). We also got to learn quite a bit more about Bennett (which I am REALLY hoping he has a book coming up *cough cough Peyton*) and even Toren Kane (whom I now actually love quite a bit and I ALSO need a book for him please lol).
The dual POV I loved, it had an amazing playlist, there were so many “giggling like a school girl” moments, and the spice was THERE. This is an infinity star read for me honestly and I have absolutely no notes. This book was everything I needed and more. I also may have a new fav couple…Matty & Rosalie (Again, like I prefer to know them as). 🩷

I think this was my favorite book of the year so far in the contemporary space. Truly, this is what I’m looking for in romance. It had so much depth to it, while at the same time being intricately plotted in terms of character, the arcs, and romance, and you could really see that shine with every line of dialogue and prose. It was SO GOOD. Total book hangover. I loved the exploration of abusive behavior and sexual exploitation handled with exquisite sensitive and nuance. Each new addition to the story brought out Ro and Matty’’s depths as characters and made me want to read more. Phenomenal! Please give us more books like this. Will also say that I loved the length and that this story had enough word count to really flesh everyone out and didn’t feel rushed. I’m so happy that publishers are now publishing longer books.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of “Unloved” by Peyton Corrine.
Matt “Freddy” Frederic is a player both on and off the ice. Destined for the NHL, he acts like he has all of the confidence in the world but that’s all it is - a show. He is failing 2 classes that he needs to graduate. Ro Sharrif is assigned to be his tutor (his third). It becomes her mission to help him where others have tried and failed. (Probably helps that she has had a massive crush on him ever since he was her first kiss at a party before Freshman year. Of course he doesn’t remember this little plot twist.) Their relationship grows into a friendship, their friendship into attraction, the attraction into more.
This story is a slow burn romance that runs parallel to Rhys and Sadie’s from “Unsteady,” the first book in the “Undone” series. Ro is Sadie’s best friend and Rhys is Matt’s teammate. I found these woven storylines to be an interesting way to craft the narrative. I may have to reread parts of Unsteady.
I really enjoyed Unloved and look forward to reading more by this author.
