I loved this book so much! I loved Freddy and Ro so much that Unsteady has gone to the top if my TBR because I just need more of Payton Corinee’s writing.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for this e-Arc I’m incredibly grateful.

Unloved is sweet college romance with a dual POV . The FMC, Ro or Rosalie is a girls girl but she’s smart and creative and has big heart. The MMC Freddy or Matt is known as the playboy star hockey player of Waterfell. He has dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. He goes through tutors fast. Except when he gets paired with smart, soft, kind Ro who understands him and genuinely wants to see him succeed. Some flirting happens sparks fly. Freddy the playboy turns soft for Ro. He grows protective of her, obsessed with her. Ro struggles with self doubt due to an abusive ex-boyfriend but Matty shows her she is more than she thinks she’s worth. Together they become each other person to lean on through the hard times…there are plenty of hard times, tears, fights. But the outcome, the sun after the rain is always the most beautiful. I gave this book a 4.8/5 because some scenes in the book were a bit too spicy for my taste and seemed unnecessary. But other bedroom scenes even with the spice seemed heart felt like Freddy was truly caring for her and it was sweet, it showed how much love they had for each other. But overall the book was really cute and felt so emotional raw and real.

I loved Unsteady by Peyton Corinne and had high hopes for Unloved, unfortunately I did not connect to it as strongly. I do think it may be a personal preference though, as I’ve seen many say the opposite—as they related to these characters and their struggles more.

I flew through the first forty percent, but I felt like the book started to drag after. It seemed like characters were stuck for too long and kept going around in circles, to an unrealistic degree. Additionally, the book felt lost in time, unanchored and I think it would be beneficial to tandem read it with Unsteady to get a clearer picture.

I did love the friendship that developed between Freddy and Ro. That was truly the best part of the book and I wish it had been expanded on.

I also wish we could have seen more of their friendship with side characters. Instead, the reader is left slightly confused by the many instances of name dropping—likely to tie into a future sequel—that lack follow up as we don’t actually know who these people are. I know Freddy was supposed to come off as isolated and lonely, despite being surrounded by people, but it unintentionally came off as self-absorption.

Overall I was a little disappointed, because it didn’t live up to Unsteady, but I did like the book. I think readers who relate to Ro and Freddy and want a slice of life book will love it. I will definitely continue to read the series, hopefully we get to see more of Bennet and Toren!

U.G.H… I Loved this one so much more than I thought I was gonna especially after the first one.

F.R.E.D.D.Y.= <3 my sweet, lonely broken hockey man. His heart, his anxiety’s.. this book was a rollercoaster of emotions. How I wanted to tell him Im here for you. The boy who fights for love, to be chosen first for once.

R.O. my sweet Butterfly Princess.. my heart for her this entire book. How I wanted to stand beside her and constantly tell her you deserve better! Im here for you. The girl who’s sparkle has dimmed has she hides away and doesn’t want to be seen as too much.

This book was taking to perfectly broken people needing comfort and finding it in unexpected people. These two were right people, wrong time that found each other at the right time to show the love and care they deserve. I also loved the timelines of book 1 happening in this one that showed this book was happening at the same time.

Im hoping will get a book 3??!?!

How can I even express how much I loved this book? I really enjoyed Unsteady, but Unloved delivered even more! From the glimpse we get of these characters in Unsteady, I knew I'd like Freddy, but was indifferent about Ro. Now having devoured their story with tears in my eyes, I can absolutely say they are wonderful and in need of many hugs. Seriously, just about every chapter with Freddy, I wanted to just take this poor boy into my arms and give him a warm, tight hug... and Ro, well, I related to her in many ways, but I also wanted to yell at her to open her eyes. I love love love the way that Peyton Corinne depicts mental health and I especially love this series for that reason.

My only negative thing is that Book 3 is not out yet LOL. Do yourself a favor and pick up this series!!

This is my ARC review of Unloved:

Well, this might be one of my favorite hockey romances I’ve read!!!!

Ro & Freddy (Matty), have such a genuine and beautiful chemistry, I absolutely adored watching their characters build a beautiful connection and slowly letting it unfold into more.

Both characters had so much shame & grief going into their connection & Corinne truly wrote those storylines with so much authenticity.

Watching their love story blossom slowly felt so much more genuine that some of these super fast paced whirlwind romances.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT EPILOGUE? I’m an epilogue girl through and through and I honestly think that might’ve been the best epilogue I’ve read.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Atria Books and Peyton Corinne for this opportunity to read this book before its release in February. I will be raving about it for the foreseeable future.

If I could give this book infinity stars, I would. Ro & Freddy are my everything. They’re perfect and so sweet and I freaking love them. This book dealt with love and grief and mental health so so beautifully, not that I was surprised by this after how much I ADORED Unsteady last year (one of my top 10 reads of 2023). Unloved has followed in its footsteps and is 100% one of my favorite books I’ve read this year. The slow burn, the friends to lovers, the tutor x hockey player, just every part of this book was perfect and so so good that there aren’t words for how much I loved it. I hope Peyton gives us a million more books in this series because I’m convinced every single one of them will be perfect.

I also loved the epilogue so much I don’t think I’ve EVER teared up reading an epilogue like I did this one 🥹

Thank you SO MUCH to NetGalley and Atria Books for this e-Arc I am eternally grateful <3

Please excuse me while I cry happy tears for Freddie and Ro 🥲 I honestly didn’t think it could get better than Rhys and Sadie but man did these two in Unloved give them a run for their money. This whole story universe is one of my favorites and I was so eager to dive back in! The story progression for both main characters was unmatched— I cried, screamed, shrieked and swooned. ❤️‍🔥

Thank you Net Galley and Peyton for the early copy! I can’t wait for the rest of the world to read about this tender hearted couple 🥲🦋

Freddy is the goofy, happy womanizer at least that is what people see him as. He is a star on the ice and has a promising future in the NHL. Due to his dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD he is barely scrapping by in school but in order to gain his inheritance he must graduate and he needs help to do so. Ro is a romantic in a toxic relationship with her on and off boyfriend and desperate for real affection. She is now Freddy's tutor and their talks cause a friendship to grow. As feelings grow they are scared to cross that line because they both value their friendship so much.

I really enjoyed this book. I love Peyton Corinne's ability to portray mental health while showcasing a beautiful love story. I thought the take on loneliness and how it can effect people differently and showcase differently was expertly explored during this book. I loved seeing both the main characters become each others safe spot. I also loved the found family aspect of this book. I will continue to read any book in this series as long as Peyton Corinne keeps writing them.

★★★★☆ (4/5)

Plot and Pacing:
I really enjoyed the pacing of story for this book. As the description states. we see a glimpse of the past, where Ro and Matt share their first kiss. Then for the rest of the book, we navigate how they moved on separately from their first meeting. Ro is dealing with her maybe-boyfriend issues while also being assigned to tutor Matt, the star hockey player with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. I felt like their romance was interwoven with their own personal problems really well. It felt natural and believable.

The romance was a good mix of slow, but fast? It's slow because they start off as friends and stay that way for a large portion of book. And "fast" because they flirt constantly, like from the beginning. Its very clear that they both has feelings for each other.

Characters:
Rosalie "Ro" is the protagonist of the story. Excelling in the academic aspect of her life, she is struggling with the romantic aspect. While I couldn't totally relate to her--which is completely fine--I found myself empathizing with her at times, and anyone else that struggles with an abusive partner. I could, however, relate to her hopeless romantic tendencies and that made it easier for me to understand why she would have a hard time letting go off a toxic partner.

Matt "Freddy" is a great hockey player but failing in the academic portion of his college experience. He's the campus playboy and has a reputation for being great in bed. This was originally off-putting for me as I didn't love the idea of the MMC being flirtatious with multiple women. BUT Matt is far from that and only has eyes for Ro. If you love sunshine x sunshine pairings, this book definitely delivers on that!

Themes and Message:
The book delves into themes of loyalty, family, and not letting past trauma define who you are.

Final Thoughts:
It was a fun, romance-fill read with some emotional beats. Nothing that made me shed a tear, but I appreciated the dive into the character's past and traumas. I also loved how slow they took their relationship without actually being slow. Its a friends to lovers story with lots of pining, lusting and wholesome tender moments. There were some instances of miscommunication that I didn't love, but I'm used to from romance novels so it wasn't a big deal for me. Overall, I highly recommend if you love college sports romances!

Content Warning:
Sexual content, abusive exes, healing from grief

It was really great! The characters are so endearing, and they're really made for each other. You can really feel the depth of their characters, and how they complement each other. For this second book, the author has done a superb job.

MATTY & Rosalie
First thank you for the ARC. Secondly, I truly didn’t think I could love another book like I loved Unloved & I’ll be forever thankful to P.C. for writing another masterpiece!!!

I truly loved this book from the timeline, to the unrushed love that is created between these characters. Matt and Ro grow together in an unromantic aspects so when they do end up together you can see it lasting, you can see the soulmate tie.

There are so many beautiful quotes I highlighted of this book but I can't mention just yet just know I will add them once I can. My honest review is yes there were something missing aspects but I think we will get more details in more books in this series (pls I need more) because the timelines are interconnected with unsteady and you get some answers from unsteady in unloved. I wish we could've gotten more results on what happens to Carmen and Tyler but I'm hoping we get it resolved or some background on it later in the series. Yes they don't get together until 80% of the book but I think it really works well with the characters and I understand what Peyton Corinne was trying to achieve. Anyways I hope you give this book a chance and you love it just as much as I did.

Be still my heart! This book hit me in the feels so many times, and I can fiercely say that the characters in Unloved are so loved in their stories and in my reader heart. I thought Peyton Corinne had written some magic in Rhys and Sadie’s book, but in Matt and Ro’s book?! It was magic with a little something extra.
If you want a book that will make you cry, but then turn around and give you some of the sweetest content ever, I’d recommend this book in a heartbeat. I need more of these characters so bad! Matty and Rosalie have me so hooked on their slow burn romance that I quite literally want to start this book from the beginning so I can experience their blossoming friendship to forever love. Peyton Corinne has a hot on her hands folks.👏👏👏

I was truly moved by this book: to go through these emotions and the feeling of not wanting to put the book down. It helped me get out of my reading slump.

When I say this book was an emotional rollercoaster….

I went from being so heated to sobbing in 2.5 seconds.
I’ve never wanted to go jump in a book so fast and go to war for two fictional characters more than I did for this book. Ro is the sweetest soul, but man I was getting heated watching people walk all over her. I’m glad that Matty helped her find her backbone and she helped show him how loved he could be. His inner Turmoil made me so sad and the grief he was dealing with. I’m glad the both got their happy ending, but boy was it a ride. I’m definitely curious about Bennet and Torren Kane. I hope we get a few more in this series because I love it!

I finished this in a day after not reading anything for a month. I think that’s a good testiment to how engaging the storyline was.
I loved how raw, real and true to herself Ro is and I of course loved Freddy’s accepting and understanding aura.
All in all this book was great but the writing was a little confusing in some parts. It could also just be a problem I share with Freddy.

This is my first book by the author and i would love to read more. I love cute sports romance with lots of emotional depth and this is one of them. The fmc tutors the mmc who has adhd and abd dyslexia and that is how they start spending time with each other. Both characters feel unlovable at times the mmc with his dad and the fmc with her abusive boyfriend. I wasn’t expecting the book to be so emotional and serious. I was expecting a fun little sports romcom and this was not that. Instead there is a lot of character depth and grief/healing.

The romance is a really slow burn and the characters did get to know each other with lots of tension and angst. There are spicy scenes as well which were steamy. Some parts were slow but overall this was a good read. Thanks to the publisher for this arc for an honest review!

Read for:
- Sports romance
- Depth of characters
- Complex characters
- Steamy scenes
- Slow burn

I loved this book! In Unsteady I already loved Ro's character ands wanted to see more of her. And Unloved made me love her even more. I loved how she finally stood up for herself to Tyler (who I hate), and seeing her blossom as a person. And the way that Freddy got her to open up and vice versa. Freddy being able to be open and honest with Ro was beautiful. Telling her things he hasn't told anyone. Opening up to his mental struggles. I loved everything about them individually. But them together was the best thing to happen. Everything about Freddy and Ro is a work of art.

This book was so cute. I was in a hockey romance slump and this book pulled me out of it. The story didn't feel rushed. I loved Freddy and Ro and how wholesome their friendship turned lovers story was.
